TS4429 Reset iPhone 5 and now it says "No Service" and something about a SIM card

Help, please! I basically did a factory reset on my iPhone 5 and it says that I have "No Service" - When I view my phone info, there's not even a number for it. The number says "unknown" ***, HELP. It says that I NOW need a SIM card. It's been working fine without a SIM card, before. Why does it say that? Do I insert a SIM card and then take it back out? I mean, my service provider is Alltel. I was not present when my parents bought me the iPhone, I don't know if Alltel put a SIM card in for the setup and then took it out. When I checked the SIM card slot last night, there's NOTHING there. So, how was it even working before? >.>
These are the things I've done to TRY and fix the problem and it hasn't worked:
1. I've reset the network settings, DID NOT WORK
2. I've reset the factory settings (again) to try out different options like backup to iTunes or iCloud and wifi connections, DID NOT WORK
3. I've turned on and off airplane mode, DID NOT WORK
4. I've turned off and on my phone, DID NOT WORK
5. I've tried multiple online Apple Support steps, DID NOT WORK

I'm facebooking and emailling everyone to contact Alltel for me. My parents, for example, are just NOT understanding what's going on. They're like "The service is paid for, so I don't know why it's messed up." And, I'm like, I KNOW the service is paid for, that's not the problem. The problem is I reset my phone and now it has NO number on it. The number is listed as "unknown" instead of my actual number with digits. So, I'm pretty sure Alltel can put the number back onto my iPhone, right? I mean, this is ridiculous.

    I have just created this account to tell you that nothing would change if you restored your phone.
    The first NO SIM nuisance happened just a week ago. Nothing had been done to the phone before that. I pressed HOME + POWER buttons to restart the phone and SIM card was successfully recognized as if nothing had happened. Then I had a lucky week, not reminded of this issue at all.
    Today, however, the same problem keeps annoying me. I've used the same method to heal the phone but all I have done seems more like a placebo. So I tried the ultimate solution, restroing it in iTunes.
    Ridicuously, the moment I finished basic setup on the newly restored phone, the same NO SIM CARD INSTALLED message poped up.
    So IMO, it's not what you should do to erase and restore your phone.
    Plus, I called my native carrier and they said no such problems have been submitted. And since my nano SIM card is quite new (three months old), I'm not going to replace it.
    I googled this problem and found something on a Hong Kong webpage. The author of that thread points out that there is a flaw in the SIM card tray that prevents the phone from successfully recognizing SIM cards.
    And I really hope Apple could probe into this issue and give official solutions other than restarting / restoring the phone like an idiot.

    Try popping out the SIM card and turn off the phone.
    Pop in the SIM card once again and turn on the phone, make sure that the SIM card is placed and seated perfectly in the tray!
    Tell me how did you unlock your phone!?

  • HT1430 o2 unlocked my iphone but now it says waiting activation and no service no matter what sim i put in

    Hi o2 unlocked my iphone 3g and it was confirmed on itunes when I sync to it I made and received one call and one text and now it says waiting for aciviation and in the top left corner no service. The phone is updated restarted and everything else I've been advised to do but no change o2 have checked and said it's defo unlocked Tesco have checked my sim and that's fine any suggestions please??

    If it had worked and doesn't now the phone is unlocked, and the problem is with Tesco. You need to call them.

    No, there are no tools for unlocking.
    Only the carrier the device is locked to can officially unlock it.  Contact them to find out their requirements for unlocking.

    I have changed from Samsung to iphone and it is coming up no service. When I go into settings it does not show a carrier  but does show EE as network

    Good luck with getting EE to unlock but  they will expect you to be a customer to start the process
    can you get the previous owner to have EE unlock it ?

  • I replaced the LCD Digitizer and now phone says no service

    Can anyone help me figure out why since replacing the LCD Digitizer my phone shows no service all the time and I can't make a call or send a text?

    The antenna connector is not connected correctly. It is the simple snap on small round connector attached to the black wire from the speaker dock antenna. It attaches near the battery connector.

    Not sure, but obviously there is a major problem and you need to do as instructed.

    If you are not a developer, we can't help you as the forum rules prohibit us from discussing the Beta version issues here, and you forfeited support including help from these forums by installing a beta software not intedned for final users at this time.
    There is nothing we can do to help here.  You are on your own.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer          
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Your iPhone is in recovery mode.  Do the following to get it out of recovery mode.
    Plug your iPhone into your computer with iTunes open make sure iTunes recognizes the iPhone in recovery mode.
    Hold down the power button and the home button to do a hard reset and shut it off
    Keep your finger on the Home button ONLY and unplug the iPhone from the cable
    Release the Home button and allow the iPhone to power back on which may take a few minutes
    The iPhone will return to its prior format

    You did not ruin the phone, you will need a sim card to activate the phone and then connect the phone to itunes and do a restore from back up.

    The iPhone has a feature called "Activation Lock" described here:

    Without that Apple ID, you will not be able to use that iPhone.
