TS5181 iTunes Radio Doesn't Reconnect When Network is Dropped

I've noticed that while using iTunes Radio and I get into an area with poor cell reception that iTunes Radio stops (expected), but never reconnects when cell reception has been restored (unexpected). Can this feature be changed in a future release?

I've been having the exact same issue w/ my D-Link DGL-4300. I'm going to get rid of it and just buy an Airport Extreme

My iTunes Radio doesn't show  song name what can I do

I suspect that the encoding of the Korean in the stream is not Unicode, which is what iTunes requires. iTunes cannot fix such things by itself.

I had my itunes radio yesterday on my iphone 4s, that came with the new software update and i was listening to it yesterday but now i went to my music and the icon down on the bottom of the screen isnt even there anymore and theres no itunes radio anymore. What do I do?

  • How do I stop iTune Radio from automatically playing when iPad is turned on?

Since updating to the latest IOS 8.1.1 .... I now have iTunes radio turning on automatically and playing random songs every time I open my iPad to begin using it.
I have to go to the music screen and PAUSE whatever song is playing before I can do anything else...unless I want to listen to this song...which I never do!
How do I get rid of iTunes Radio...or at least disable it.  It is nothing that I ever use.  In fact, I don't listen to any music on my iPad as a rule except for Pandora radio once in awhile.
This is extremely annoying and I can't find any help for this problem.
    Thanks.

  • New iTunes Radio doesn't link to ...iTunes Radio

Just upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and when you click on  any of the links for new iTunes Radio it only link back to my library (not radio).  Anyone else experiencing, or am I missing something?
    Thanks

well iTunes radio from what I see others posting does not work with 10.6.8.
It uses functions not available in the OS until 10.7 (Lion) or 10.8 (mountain lion)

  • TS5181 iTunes Radio missing from music app?!

Can anyone help? I updated my iPhone 4 to IOS7. I cannot find the iTunes Radio tab inside my Music app and yet it's supposed to be available for everyone. Do I have to enable it somewhere? Or is it because I am on the UK app store?

It's currently only available in the US - as far as I know Apple haven't yet announced if/when it might be added to other countries

  • TS5181 iTunes Radio Temporarily Unavailable?!

It has now been a month or so and my iTunes Radio (on my iPhone 5) still doesn't work. I go to press a station, whether it be featured or one of mine, and it still freezes for a moment. Then it says it's temporarily unavailable and to try again later. What is wrong?

I have the exact same problem. I have tried hard resets, logging in and out of iTunes store, turning on and off iTunes Match.
The funny thing is iTunes Radio works on all computers with iTunes and 3 - 4s iPhones, The only iPhone 5c we have is the only device that iTunes Radio will not play.

  • On Mac OSX 10.6.8, link to iTunes radio doesn't lead anywhere in iTunes.

I go into the iTunes store and click under quick links, and the iTunes Radio only goes back to my Library and doesn't have a tab up top for the actual new radio that is supposed to come with the 11.1 update. All I see is Songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlists, and Internet. Internet only streams normal radio.

Found this on another board, looks like we need to upgrade to at least OSX10.7 or later. This is too bad since I have a cad program that won't run on 10.7 and is not supported on 10.7.:
    iTunes requirements
    Hardware:
              •          Mac computer with an Intel processor
              •          To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor is required
              •          To play 1080p HD video, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 2GB of RAM is required
              •          Screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater; 1280x800 or greater is required to play an iTunes LP or iTunes Extras
              •          Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
              •          Apple combo drive or SuperDrive to create audio, MP3, or back-up CDs; some non-Apple CD-RW recorders may also work
    Software:
              •          OS X version 10.6.8 or later
              •          400MB of available disk space
              •          iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability may vary by country
              •          iTunes Radio requires OS X version 10.7 or later.

  • TS5181 iTunes Radio Bluetooth Data

When my iPhone is connected to my car via Bluetooth to stream audio from the iPod, it displays the track information (artist, album, song) on my navigation screen.
When i'm streaming audio from the new iTunes Radio through Bluetooth to my car, it does not display the track information. Instead it displays the last song that was playing from the iPod.
Is there a fix for this? Or is there a formal way to submit a Request for Enhancement to Apple to they can correct this and allow the track info to be provided to the car via Bluetooth?

Ok, I have resolved this issue myself. I contacted Apple support but they had no clue.
The resolution is this, bring Siri up and say "radio". Radio comes up and you touch "now playing". Believe it or not the radio icon appears and remains.
I hope that helps other folk.

  • TS5181 iTunes radio - Bit Rate and recording

There is an ongoing comparision to Pandora however, I suggest that Pandora offers a better value by far:
    1. iTunes Radio does not state bit-rate
    2. Pandora One is 192kb for $40/yr, with no adds; free Pandora is 64kb and has adds
    3. PandoraJam permits recording to Mac, $15 one-time cost, 192kb unlimited downoads
    4. iTunes Match, at $25/yr, permits saving current and paid misic to iCloud plus no adds, but STILL charges $1.29/song.
NOTE: I am pro Apple and nearly all my IT devices are Apple however; this is a difficult business case.
Can anyone tell me why iTunes Radio would be a better deal?

I'm curious as well what the bit rate is for iTunes Radio and am suprised Apple hasn't published it.
Forbes.com is doing a followup story soon which will compare iTunes Radio, Spotify and Pandora that you may want to check out.

Apple has a history of withholding geek-oriented specs on consumer-oriented products. By their silence I think we can assume that it’s not higher than what Pandora’s max setting offers. And it certainly wouldn’t make sense for the rate to be greater than the 256 kbps of iTunes purchases.
There’s also the possibility that Apple is offering adaptive rates depending on whether a user is connected over WiFi or cellular.
I’m working on a story comparing aspects of iTunes Radio, Pandora and Spotify (stay tuned) and I’ll report on whether there’s an audible difference between them.
Also found a post on Macrumors by someone who did their own "test" yesterday who is suggesting that it is 256 kbps similar to what you get for iTunes purchases.

Money and "value" aside, I've been listening to iTunes Radio for a day now on my Denon AVR and B &W surround sound system via airplay streaming to my AppleTV and it sounds as good as Pandora One -- and I think the playlist alogorithim is superior to Pandora as I'm hearing a bunch more variety and music I like on a station I created similar to one I have on Pandora.

  • ITunes radio doesn't play songs by artists added to any of my stations

This is a clarification of an earlier question.
So you can create a station with a "seed" which can be an artist, song or genre. Once itunes creates that station you can modify the station with the available "more like this", or "Never again" buttons, but there is also an option in the desktop version below the stations  where you are offered a "play more like this" > "Add artist, song or genre" and itunes is happy to let you fill in any artist and it shows you possible matches from which you can select. That artist is then shown below your original seed in a list for that station. However, itunes has never played any songs by any of the artists I've added to the station via this method even though they are there in plain site as "seeds" for this station. I always have to create a whole new station with the desired artists to get any songs by them. I've had these new artists seeded/listed for months without any songs played by them on the station. Why create this option if it is never functional? What am I missing?

just for clarification this is about Itunes radio and the stations you can create in it.

  • Itunes radio doesn't play whole song

    Hi,
I'm new to iTunes, so if this is a stupid question please excuse me.
I'm using iTunes radio and I"m noticing that many of the songs are not being played completely. Is this normal?
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi KungFusion,
I tried playing several streams from the posted website, and all 'wanted' to be played within Safari using a Windows Media Player plug-in. I could not get them to play in iTunes. It may be that you will have to download and use Windows Media Player for Mac. If you want to hear them thru Airport and the Airport Express, you will need to use an application called Airfoil http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/airfoil.html. Hope this is helpful. Check the Airport Express discussions also for help.
