Hi. Just installed new iPhoto app onto brand new iPad mini, iO7 , but it doesn't want to open. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, and done hard rest with no joy. Any ideas?
Many thanks

  • Unable to open newly installed free standing Lightroom not part of CC

I have an Adobe CC photography membership and I've installed PS and LR on two computers from the membership. I also purchased a version of Lightroom 6 (not part of the membership) to install on a third computer for which I received a serial number. However, I am not able to open the program because I get a message stating that my CC software is already installed on two computers. This version of Lightroom that I purchased separately from CC subscription hasn't been unstalled on any computer! It's a free standing version. Yet, I can't install it because I also have a CC membership. It's ridiculous. I had no problem installing a free standing version of Lightroom 5 on this same computer (also with a separate serial number). Why can't I get Adobe to recognize the difference in the two types of Lightrooom...the one from CC subscription and the other having nothing to do with my CC subscription?
    Thanks,
    Chick

Lightroom CC was NEVER installed on this computer. In fact NO CC programs were ever installed on this particular computer except the Adobe CC application itself (Adobe installed it automatically when I plugged in my User ID for updating one of the other (NON-CC) Adobe programs on the computer (CS5 suite). A perpetually licensed version of Lightroom 5 was also installed on this computer (and I had no problem installing that).
I eventually created a new Adobe ID and password and retried to install it using that ID and password but the installer said I needed an Adobe CC membership to continue the installation. So, I contacted Adobe and after two hours with an online support person (Live Chat), which was getting me nowhere, I decided to use a new ID but install as a trial.During the install, I made sure no adobe apps were running and deleted the preference file for the CC application (which also wasn't running). The program finally installed as a trial version. I then closed the program, restarted, and a screen came up telling me I had 30 days left on the trial. There was also an option to license the software on that screen. I chose the latter and....another screen came up asking for a serial number, which I provided. And now the program is installed and is associated with a different Adobe ID and password from the programs I have on two other computesr that have CC applications installed.
That's the solution I came up with. It worked but installation should have gone much smoother, as it did last year when I installed the perpetually licensed version of Lightroom which was associated with the same user ID and password as I used for the CC subscription.

  • Can not open and install iphoto! What`s the problem?

Can not open and install iphoto! What`s the problem?

The problem is, apparently, that you can neither open nor install iPhoto.
Seriously, you give us nothing to work with.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Unable to Open Pictures in IPhoto

I am unable to open any picture. I double click the picture resulting in a black screen. When clicking Faces I see the names of the people stored but not their faces.
I have used the Time Capsule trying to restore - No Results
I have reinstalled the application - No Results
    Anyone knows a fix

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. *Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. *Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. *A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. *A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. *A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *If none of these help*:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Unable to open newly created files using a specific font.

    Hello everyone!
All of a sudden, I am not able to open newly created files in Acrobat Pro 9.0 that use a specific font. It seems to be localized to files that are created in Microsoft Words, as I tried to create a document in Pages and was able to open that PDF (using the same font) in Acrobat. I'm not sure what to do at this point...Any ideas?

    Hi,
If you have recently upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.7, then have a look here:http://forums.adobe.com/message/3593533#3593533, where Steve Werner had the solution.

  • "an internal error has occurred" in trying to open newly installed Adobe Reader 10.

unable to open Adobe Reader 10.1 ; says "an internal error has occurred", I'm using windows Vista 32 bit. Any know fix, or must I go back to using an older, more stable version like 8.1.2.  What's with Adobe if they can't create a better, more stable program? I've seen other have had the same problem and they and I both have trouble trying to find a FREE fix, and nothing found on Adobe site as a clear answer either.

I was frustrated by this problem as well. I even uninstalled and then resinstalled a fresh download: SAME Problem.
Now the problem seems to have been RESOLVED on my Windows Vista Laptop.
Instead of trying to open by double-clicking on file icons, I opened the Adobe Reader from the Windows Explorer. On the first screen appeared the usual Adobe Licence & Terms that I had to ACCEPT. This screen NEVER showed up before after either upgrading to the Adobe Reader X or after reinstalling. After accepting the License and TERMS. this problem does NO longer reproduce.
I have successfully opened fewer than 10 PDF files without the annoying error so far. I hope others will reproduce this "FIX" before claiming this was the root cause of the problem.
Hopefully Adobe will display a more meaningfull error message for such a problem.

  • Newly installed iPhoto 08 hangs on startup

Just installed iLife 08 from a family pack w/4 unused licenses. iMovie didn't update because my G4 is incompatible but everything else did. I ran Software Update and it now says everything's up to date. Also repaired permissions.
When I start iPhoto, I get a dialogue box that asks "Do you want to use iPhoto when you connect your digital camera?", the iPhoto window appears, saying "Loading photos..." and showing the timer wheel, and a progress window appears that says "Examining photo library...". Then, I get the beachball and that's it. Activity Monitor shows it's "Not responding."
Based on [this 12/20/08 thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8655758&#8655758], I realized I'd directly (i.e., via drag and drop) moved some photos out of the iPhoto Library recently and this might be the cause. So I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and ran its Rebuild Library function. This created a Rebuilt Library (containing only com.apple.iPhoto.plist and iPhotoLock.data) and launched iPhoto, which did exactly what it's done before. I've also tried moving the iPhoto Library to the Trash, leaving only the Rebuilt Library, and launching iPhoto. Same result.
I wouldn't mind losing the old library if I must because I have copies of all the photos elsewhere. I just want to get iPhoto working again but can't figure out how.

iPhoto creates an iPhoto Library folder in /Users/username/Libraries/Pictures.
Well actually that’sin Users/ Username/Pictures / iPhoto Library Folder , but no matter.
The internal structure of the Library is very different in iPhoto 08 - I‘ll come to that in a moment.
    So, try this:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library' see if the app will actually create a Library for you.
    Assuming it does:
I have another nested folder that's structured and named as I like, containing all the photos I care about.
To recreate this folder structure in iPhoto, start at the bottom of your hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Source (or left-hand) pane in iPhoto. Iphoto will import the pics and create an Album from there. You can then create the Enclosing Folders in iPhoto (File -> New Folder) and drag the Album to the Folder. In this way you can quickly recreate your folder system
a: To use *Photoshop with iPhoto*: You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
(BTW this was true of iPhoto 5 too)
b: The Structure of the iPhoto Library Folder is *very different* in iPhoto 08 and later. With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Want to see inside the Library folder? Go to this Library you‘ve made and right click on the icon. From the resulting menu select ‘Show Package Contents’ and a finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
A Note about the iPhoto Library Folder:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three core folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
Remember: iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
How to +acces your files+ in iPhoto...
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Mac won't open newly installed apps.

I am trying to install and open apps from the Mac App Store, but nothing I installed today will open. Apps I already had are working fine, but when I try to install a new one the app appears in Finder and the Launchpad, but the app won't open. It also doesn't ask me to enter my Apple ID password. It gives me no notification about why it won't open. I restarted the laptop twice today (once for an update) and it didn't change anything. I have OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3 and I'm using a MacBook Air.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

    Dear Community,
I am unable able to boot the Windows Vista install (via Boot Camp) on my MacBook Pro / mid 2010 after upgrading to OS Maverick.
Any idea about how this problem can be solved (I don't want to purchase Windows 7 and I don't want to purchase a virtual machine)?

  • Unable to start newly installed LR v1.1

I have just installed a new version of v 1.1 under Windows XP SP3. I have plenty of memory and disk space.
When I open it I get a box saying:-
"Lightroom must quit because catalogue named xxx.Ircat is not writable and cannot be opened.
This could be caused by incorrect permissions or because another LR application is using the catalogue. You may select another catalogue by holding down CTRL when loading."
I then double clicked while holding down CTRL
I selected Create New (I created one in a new, empty folder on my desktop)
Programme sort of started but with a large window asking about preferences for updates. I had now access to this. Then the whole thing froze.
I read the answer about disabling the nVidia desktop manager/multi screen thing and have disabled all likely components but to no effect.

    Michael-
Download and install v 1.4.1- version 1.1 is outdated regardless of when you got it.
Have you run other versions of LR on that computer?

  • Unable to open newly purchased book

Someone please help.  I just bought an e-book, downloaded ADE to my laptop (w/windows) and went to put the book in my ADE library, but I'm getting the following error message:
"Connection Error Detected.  Digital Editions could not connect to the fulfillment server.  Please make sure you are connected to the internet."
There is nothing wrong with my internet connection.
    How can I resolve this?

OK. So I finally chatted with the help desk...
They asked me to remove and re-install the software (that's a classic one).
Then they asked me to download a couple of e-books from http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/eBook.html and to open them.
As both steps above worked, they told me I had a problem with the .acsm file so they could not help further...
But re-downloading and opening it directly from the online shop where I bought the ebook worked... Finally...

  • Unable to update and install iPhoto, numbers and keynote

    Hi,
I am not sure whether anyone has similar problem but I do hope someone can help me with this issue that I am facing.
I have just purchased the iMac a few days before Maverick release. So now I have updated it to Mavericks for my iMac.
    After the update to Maverick.
I am updating all the necessary apps like iMovie, iPhoto, Garageband and iWork stuff and have encountered this problem.
No matter how many times I click updates (have been trying for the past 2-3 days too) for iPhoto, Numbers and Keynote , these apps just failed to update. it is just shown " an error has occured" under the purchases category. Also under the Purchases, my iPhoto app icon is "?" (while the grey button instead of "update" it show "pause" .
Please let me know if anyone has any answer to this issue.
Also, I have a question. Why does my Numbers and Keynote, I can install but PAGES I need to pay ? Does anyone has the problem too?
Hopefully someone can help me solve this problem! Thank you!!

You can manually flash another country's firmware however to answer your question - Before generic handsets get the update the networks have to all authorise the update, I'm not saying they have to release the update but they do have to authorise it - Then Sony will be authorised to release it to generic devices - So if your device is network locked then it's your network that needs to release the update via Sony

I can't open Places any more. Neither can I see maps when I click on i in individual photos.

Sorry but we are simply users exactly like you. No one here has secret inside information. Again I personally believe that this is a Google change but I've never had the problem and I've not seen a solution other than the WiFi off-on work around. Maybe someone will discover and post a solution in a min and maybe Google will fix the issue today. Maybe not.
    But you are welcome. Anyway.
