TS5376 iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open.

The fix does not explain why this has been done by Apple. very poor job. What will happen to my library? Will I loose everything, only some?
Why the update was released and not fully tested before?

Normally nothing. Back it up.

I'm sure it was tested and that no potential issues with the release were detected. Something unexpected has occured.

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)

You don't need to open iTunes to back up the library. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates and look in the further information area for backup advice.

  • TS5376 itunes 11.1.4 for Windows Vista - I've uninstalled prior version and associated applications, but get message"cannot download" the exe file. Why?

Followed instructions to uninstall iTunes and related components and files, but still get error that the "exe" file cannot be downloaded. Any suggestions on what to do next?  This all started because I wanted to sync my iphone to the computer.

I was able to successfully download iTunes after repeated attempts to remove Apple Mobile Device Support finally worked. Had to repair, re-install, then uninstall it. Found useful tips on how to do that in topic "Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows Updates" by turingtest2.  After that, my browsers (IE or Firefox) would only partially download the iTunes install file. So paused virus scanner and Windows Defender. and uninstalled iCloud. Eventually IE downloaded the "exe" file and I was able to run it (albeit with several false starts).
    Now trying to reinstall iCloud.
    thanks for your help.

    Hello Joseph,
Thank you for the question.  If you are not getting the prompt to Run or Save the iTunes file your Pop-up Blocker filter level may be set too high:
Use the steps in the following article so that you get the prompt to Run or Save the file:

  • ITunes 10.1.1 for Windows XP, after install errors out with messages

Installed iTunes 10.1.1 (released Dec. 15) for Windows XP 32-bit. Tried to start it but got error message as follows:
    1) "This application has failed to start because VideoToolbox.dll was not found. Re-installing the application max fix this problem."
    2) Then another errors pops-up:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes".
    Error 7 (Windows error 126).
I de-installed and re-installed iTunes about 8 times, including restarting the computer and no resolution.
Today I downloaded iTunes again from the web site and it still has problems.
Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?
    Thanks!

Taken at face value, you've got trouble with an Apple Application Support file. (iTunes needs a properly functioning Apple Application Support program file in order to work correctly.)
I'd try the instructions from the following post. Although it's for 32-bit Vista/7, it's pretty much identical for XP ... just read "Uninstall a program" control panel as "Add or remove programs" control panel, and "Computer" as "My Computer".

  • TS5376 is there a fix for iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows installation problem?

I tried the fix in "TS5376: iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open" but problem remains. We have the same issue on my dauther's PC (Windows 7 also). iTunes can't open and configure correctly.

    Hey MichelHebert,
When you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you follow these steps below? This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

    Hello n9ming29,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • ITunes 11.1.4 for Window 64x cannot be installed.

Pop-up Window display: cannot start Apple Mobile Device, but I checked Services (Local), status is started. I cannot update iTunes through Apple Update, so I uninstall the older version of iTunes and download the latest version; then I run installer and the former pop-up window appears. Please help to solve the problem. I also encounter runtime error R6034.

  • Version 11.2 for Windows failure to install

I tried to update iTunes this morning for windows, 64 bit. When I tried to launch iTunes, I got this message:The prodecure entry point ADiAdlD_AcquireMatchSlotIfNecessary could not be located in the dynamic link library iAdCore.dll.
I tried to reinstall the new version using the repair feature. Same results.
This was followed by a message: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 127)
    What is the problem?

    Hi Roland,
The article below has some tips that should help you get this sorted.
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5376
    Resolution
These behaviors can occur if the iTunes installer has insufficient privileges to cleanly update iTunes. To resolve the issue, remove iTunes thoroughly, and then give the iTunes installer administrator privileges.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components, may have unintended affects. If you encounter an error while uninstalling, try repairing the affected component:
In Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Vista and later), select the component and look for either Change or Repair.
Click and follow the wizard to repair the affected component.
Remove the affected component after repair.
    2. Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalledIn most cases, removing iTunes and its related components from the Control Panel will remove all supporting files belonging to those programs. To fully resolve these issues, manually remove any remaining iTunes-related folders listed below. On 32-bit and 64-bit systems:
    C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\CoreFP
    C:\Program Files\iTunes\
    C:\Program Files\iPod\
Note: Follow the additional steps at the end of this article if you receive the alert "Cannot delete iPodService.exe: It is being used by another person or program" when trying to delete this folder. Some of the folders above may not be found on all systems.
    On 64-bit systems:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\CoreFP
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod\
Note: Follow the additional steps at the end of this article if you receive the alert "Cannot delete iPodService.exe: It is being used by another person or program" when trying to delete this folder. Some of the folders above may not be found on all systems.
    3. Reboot your computer.4. Download the iTunes installer. When prompted to select what you want to do, choose to save it to your computer.5. Install iTunes.
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Select the 'Run as administrator' option.
Windows XP: Select the Open option.
    Finish installing iTunes.

After updated to iTunes 11.1.4 for windows vista , I was unable to open iTunes and it keep error message. My iphone unable to USB hotspot the internet to computer. Pls Help

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Having issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit).

Issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit). This install clobbered my previous version of iTunes. Error message is "service Apple Mobile Device failed to start". Cannot start the service manually even though I am the administrator of the machine. There is obviously some conflict that was recently introduced by a Windows update or in the Apple installation. I have tried removing iTunes and the AMDS (the Apple mobile device service) and reinstalling with the same error message.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!

    Hey there Marylin,
It sounds like you are unable to start iTunes due to this error message even after uninstalling the iTunes application and the Apple Mobile device. I would recommend uninstalling not just those 2 applications but iTunes and ALL its associated applications with the following article:

  • After instailling iTunes 7.4.1 for Windows, my system slows down to a crawl

After downloading and installing iTunes 7.4.1 for Windows XP Professional, my system slows down horribly, and I cannot seem to find out why. Rebooting before installing this version of iTunes did not take long at all, yet after installing iTunes, rebooting takes at least 4 times as long, and the system runs very slowly/poorly. What has caused this problem? I have other friends who have HP Pavilion laptops using Windows XP who are using iTunes and iPods with no problems at all. I have restored my system back to the state before installing iTunes in SAFE MODE, but now I am unable to use my iPod or iTunes. Anyone having this problem?

In my experience iTunes has never been stable in a Windows operating system. If it's not one thing it's another. Right now I'm having video play back issues with tv shows on iTunes, good thing I have the iPhone now so I can watch them on there.

iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install.  Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2.  Any Thoughts?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.
