Updating to latest version of i tunes but stopped by this error message MSVCR80.dll missing, what can i do?

This happened to me today as well post installing the latest version of itunes.   I did a search on google for the error and came across a recommendation to :
Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs in this order: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and finally Apple Application Support. If you have iCloud, remove it as well.
Uninstalling these programs in Windows is done from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Note: Songs and playlists in iTunes will not be removed when you uninstall the iTunes program or any of the other, already-mentioned Apple programs. If you'd still like to back them up, they're usually located in the My Music folder in Windows.
Download the latest version of iTunes from Appleand note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator. If you're not sure how to do that, see How Do I Open an Elevated Command Prompt? for help. That procedure shows you how to open the Command Prompt program as an administrator, but the steps are essentially the same for anything, including the iTunes installation package you just downloaded.
A general overview of removing and reinstalling iTunes can also be found here on Apple's site but the above procedure seems to work better in this particular situation.

Which Bag do you use for your Camera? What about the GadgetBag 300EG?

I agree - it's all about preference.  I use the ThinkTank Retrospective 7.  I *love* ThinkTank's attention to detail...  everything from having a rain cover included with the bag, to having ingenius use of velcro (sp?) patches to enable you to "silence" the bag so it doesn't make the big "SCRATCH" sound when opening the bag during a quiet event, etc.
My best advice would be to do your research (which you're clearly doing) and have a clear understanding of the return policy wherever you buy it, and then don't be afraid to return it if you get it and feel it doesn't meet your needs.  A restocking fee is a small price to pay to not be stuck with a bag that doesn't work for you.  And if for any reason you get it and can't return it, there's always eBay.

  • TS5376 Tried Apple's fix for MSVCR80.dll missing, still getting error

    I found this fix:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
I removed the dll's as instructed, uninstalled iTunes from Control Panel, redownloaded the 11.1.4 installation file, saved and executed it, and successfully reinstalled iTunes.
But when I try to start iTunes, I still get this error:
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I've been running iTunes on this Windows 7 machine for years, I've upgraded iTunes via Apple Software Update many times, and now this.
    Apple did you blow it?
    Dead in the water.

    Further measures described here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6562
    This fixed the issue.
Per instructions, had to completely remove iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and Apple Application Support.  (and others if you have them, read that list carefully).
    What a pain.

  • Error 7 & MSVCR80.DLL Missing--what to do?

Unable to reinstall itunes after clicking on its update.
Error 7 message appeared along with "can't start because MSVCR80.DLL IS MISSING.  Reinstall it!
Went to .NET Framework and message states it's already installed for 4.5.1 version and won't allow a reinstall.

    Hello Boater102,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes due to this error message. I recommend the troubleshooting from the following article named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 126)”
"Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly"
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • After iTunes update, iTunes.exe System Error - msvcr80.dll missing  & icudt49.dll missing.

After iTunes update, iTunes.exe System Error - msvcr80.dll missing. Followed the support suggestion & uninstalled then re-installed iTunes 5 times & still no good so followed Apples advice & uninstalled again then went into programme files & manually deleted the files re-installed again & now getting iTunes.exe System Error - icudt49.dll missing. I give up, anyone out there help ?

I've just (finally) managed to fix this problem today. I checked the Apple Support forums, and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem.
I rang the Apple Support line, and the very helpful man (thanks Alan!) talked me through it stage by stage. If you go to the following page on the internet:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376   it takes you through the process. WARNING - it takes a little time! The main purpose of this is to remove any trace of the old version of iTunes from your computer...
Basically, the first thing you have to do is go to your Program Files and double click on your iTunes folder. There'll be a number of files with the suffix .dll - you need to move all the .dll files from that folder to your desktop - you can simply click and drag them on the desktop..
Next, uninstall iTunes - go to Control Panel / Add/Rempve Programs and when the list comes up remove iTunes. This will take a few minutes... Then reboot your computer.
Next, go back to Control Panel / Add Remove and Remove - IN THIS ORDER -
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot again!
Next, check in your Program Files that the iTunes folder is completely gone - if it has, great: if it hasn't, right-click on the folder and press Shift and Delete - it will say "Are you sure you want to completely remove the folder "iTunes"? Click on "Yes".
    Reboot!
Then go to the iTunes download page and voila! It should download iTunes without any problems... well it did for me.... Good luck!

  • When I try to use my itunes I keep get the message "msvcr80.dll missing. reinstall program" I have reinstalled itunes several times with no change.

Everytime I try to start my itunes app I get the message " msvcr80.dll missing. try reinstalling the program" I have reistalled itunes several times and this keeps coming up. The msvcr80.dll is on my system. What am I missing? This has only been going on since the last itunes update.

elements 12 organizer has stopped working and premiere elements 12 gets msvcr80.dll missing errors

First deactivate the product(s) and then uninstall it from the machine using the procedure specifically for your OS.  If in Windows and I suspect it is then uninstall from the Control Panel.
To deactivate the product you need to go Editor and then:
    Help >> Deactivate
Please also make sure that you have your original CDs and /or DVDs handy including the necessary serial number as you will need them to install the product(s) again.
After uninstalling the products, you need to restart the machine before you start to install again.
You have created the backups of your sentimental photos, right?  You need to just in case the machine causes more problems down the line.

after getting the latest update I recieve an error about MSVCR80.dll Missing, has anyone found the solution as uninstalling and then installing doesnt seem to work

Doublechecking. Have you tried the following user tip?
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

  • Because of missing component (MSVCR80.dll). What to do?

Have had itunes on computer for several months.  Tried to install latest version. Installer indicated was successful.  Attempted to open and received error message that itunes would not open because of missing component (MSVCR80.dll).  What do I need to do and how?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Re: "MSVCR80.dll Missing" Thanks to mspanner and others for you help. Followed your advice, which worked.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

    Hi,
I'm using Windows 7 64bit and the problem was solved in one step. Simply "Restore" Windows to a time prior to your installing the iTunes update.........It fixed everything, my library was there and I had access to iTunes.
One thing to remember, when you restore and open iTunes DON'T choose to update iTunes
I just did the exact same thing as you did after spending about an hour trying to fix it.  iTunes updates drive me insane!!! I wish they would quit trying to "improve" what was never broken in the first place.
