TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED and TSV_TNEW_BLOCKS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY
Hello,
Happy New Year 2007 to all!
We are using SAP R/3 4.6C, kernel 46D_EXT Patch 2271, Oracle 9.2.0.5 and HP-UX 11.23, 16GB RAM, 17GB swap.
Lately, at the end of this year, many ABAP runtime errors <b>TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED and TSV_TNEW_BLOCKS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY</b> ocured.
Some times there is MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING.
I have read some notes regarding this issue.
1. Maybe I should increase the ztta/roll_area, current is 3000000 and to change into 6500000.
2. Can you please advice me regarding the rdisp/ROLL_SHM = 16384 (32768) and rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS = 80000 (131072), should I also increase them into the values in the brackets (there is a note which has the statement 'Must be adjusted if you change ztta/roll_area')?
3. What about the ztta/roll_first = 1 and ztta/roll_extension = 2000000000, should I also change them?
4. Regarding the Paging area, what should I do?
rdisp/PG_SHM = 8192 (32768) and rdisp/PG_MAXFS = 65536 (131072) , should I change into the values in the brackets?
em/initial_size_MB = 4092
THANK YOU in advance,
Ruzica
Hello Mark,
Yes, I should have told you, the previous day offline backup was performed on the instance, that's why the buffers are clean.

How it looks like?
Can I shortly resume about the memory parameters?
1. em/initial_size_MB, regarding the 16GB of the RAM, should I increase to example: 8188 (the maximum value in RZ11 is 8196)?
2. ztta/roll_area to 6500000 ?
3. What about the rdisp/PG_MAXFS should it be increased for 50% = 131072 ? And the rdisp/PG_SHM to increase to 32768 ?
4. What do you think about the ztta/roll_extension = 2000000000, should I increase or to decrease the parameter?
5. And the roll area is there need to change the rdisp/ROLL_SHM = 16384 (32768) and rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS = 80000 (131072)?
Thanks in advance.
Many regards,

TSV errors and creation of aggregates
Hi experts,
Since few days, I can't run any more a query. It makes different shorts dumps like :
TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
TSV_TABH_POOL_NO_ROLL_MEMORY
TSV_TNEW_OCCURS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY
The query is based on a Infocube which contains 3 584 086 records. Once by week, entire data is deleted and reloaded.
There is'n any aggregatesfor this Infocube.
Do you know if the creation of aggregates in order top optimize performance of the query can resolve this kind of technical problem ?
My second part of my question is about aggregates :
In my query, we want to display the masterdata Article (0MATERIAL) and some of his navigation attributes (_Department_, Sub-department, Family). We want to display the plant and one ratio Stock data.
In this query, we make a restriction on a charactestic XXX by excluding a value.
My idea was to create an aggrgate with Article, Department, Sub-department, Family, Plant, and the characteristic XXX with a value excluded.
But when I create the aggregate, I firstly drag and drop the article. But when I want then to drag and drop his navigation attributes, a warning is generate : "Article cannot be in aggregate because of characteristic Department".
- We can't put in an aggregate a masterdata with some of his navigation attributes ?
- Is it possible in an aggregate to restrict a characteristic by excluding a value ? Apparently, we can only add a constant...
I can bring some precisions if it's necessary for better understanding.
Thanks for your precious help,
TempkaHi Tempka,
It seems that there are issues with your roll memory where the memory is not enough to execute your query.
TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED and TSV_TNEW_BLOCKS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY
You will need to get the roll memory extended by contacting your Basis team / ERP team.
Just before you go to ERP team, check if the data base indexes for the info cube on which the query has been developed are fine or not. You can check the DB indexes by following the below steps:
1) Right click the cube, Click on manage.
2) Click on Performance tab,
3) Check DB indexes.
4) If the check shows Red, Then recreate the DB indexes by clicking on "Create DB Index (batch)". Once the indexing is complete try running the report again & see if the error comes.

APD returns ABAP Error: TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
Hi
I'm trying to run APD for a virtual cube.
The design of the APD is as follow:
1. Read a Query (FM of a virtual cube query)
2. Filter the value
3. Aggregate the value
4. Output to text file
If I run RSRT to read the query, I'm able to get the query, and it's returning 936,210 rows.
However, when I run it from APD, it threw me the following errors:
Error analysis
The internal table "\CLASS=CL_RSCRMBW_BAPI\METHOD=GET_AXIS_DATA_V2\DATA=LT_MPP"
could not be further extended. To enable
error handling, the table had to be delete before this log was written.
As a result, the table is displayed further down or, if you branch to
the ABAP Debugger, with 0 rows.
At the time of the termination, the following data was determined for
the relevant internal table:
Memory location: "Session memory"
Row width: 652
Number of rows: 5,027,712
Allocated rows: 5,027,712
Newly requested rows: 16 (in 1 blocks)
Any idea what I can do to rectify this?
Your advice is much appreciated.Hi,
This is a problem related to memory of internal table.

Production error - Urgent - TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
Hi All,
Im getting dumps in production system with
Runtime Error: TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED. and when checked the trace, it says as Data type "MCVBAPB" was found in a newer version than required.
Any pointers to this wil be helpful
thanks
Boomathe TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED dump has naught to do with the version of MCVBAPB. the dump clearly states that there was no more paging area available to run the report/transaction that caused the dump. this might either be due to an too big selection or a lack of memory. Consult your basis-people with that one.
the version of MCVBAPB: MCVBAPB is a structure belonging to LIS (Logistics Information System) so obviously someone changed that structure. check in t-code SE11, MCVBAPB the runtime and the database object of the structure (in case it is active). -
Hi All,
I'm currently having problems with the deletion/archiving process on one of my XI boxes. I has been
configure to use the Switch Procedure and, the error happens during the TABLE_SWITCH procedure.
Due to this error, I have 1 dump per day and the other jobs related with this task are failing.
The dump says:
TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
and I have found note 1017000 for this issue and sucesfully applied.
According to the note, next step should be:
"To stop the archiving process, start the deletion process for the failed
archiving runs manually directly from the archive administration."
by I'm not able to do that. I go to XMS_SATA and with object name BC_XMB try to run the "Delete" action
but can not continue as there is no archive file to select.
Anyone with the same issue?
Thanks in advance?Hi Prateek,
Thanks for your help but I don see how is this related to XI. I read about IS-OIL and IS-MINE. I already found a note that helps with this issue but I'm stuck with one of the steps and can cancel the copy process.

RPTIME00- tsv_tnew_page_alloc_failed
Hi,
Lately we have been having a problem with program RPTIME00 in our production box for a specific variant. We have been having the error "tsv_tnew_page_alloc_failed" and so far have been doing the temporary solution of splitting the process into several runs with smaller selections.
We have tested the same thing in our QA box and it works without having the same problem. Our basis do not want to increase memory allocation for this program for fear of side effects and we do not want to touch the code since it is a standard program. We cannot find the path specified on note 393820 (restrict log).
Please help. Our basis replied to us with : the loop can take up to 2GB and get the dump TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED or possible worse DB errors if some people "force" basis to increase the SAP memory parameters: it will get even more if DB grows so you would continually increase (dangerously!!) ..... etc... then gives us some codes to prove his point.
Would it be advisable to report this issue to SAP since our basis fears this DB thing. This is having no problems with our test box so it is not data problem. Maybe we could get help there to convince our basis to take this "risk" or maybe there are other solutions aside from dividing the variant every time. What do you think? -
N level-Approval for contract workflow (WS14000148) in SRM
Hi SDN'rs
I want to activate N level-Approval for contract workflow (WS14000148) in SRM
When I am creating the contract in SRM I can see the approvers in the approval preview.
But when I release the contract and look at the approval privew there are no approvers
and the status of the contract is released.
We are on SRM Server 5.5 and SP 07.
Here what I did
1. I implemented the BADI 'BBP_WFL_APPROV_BADI' using the sample implementation and populated the approvers.
2. I activated events SAVED,CHANGEVERSIONSAVED for WS14000148 in OOCU transaction.
3. I see event linkages for WS14000148 for both events SAVED,CHANGEVERSIONSAVED in SWE2 transaction.
4. I assigned role SAP_EC_BBP_PURCHASER to for subworkflow N step for contract WS14000147.
( User who is creating contract has this role)
5. Consistency check for WS14000148 is green and WS14000147 is yellow in SWUD
6. Event simulation for BUS2000113 and events SAVED,CHANGEVERSIONSAVED shows WS14000148 successfully started.
I see dump in ST22 with errors TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED and SYSTEM_NO_SHM_MEMORY with WF-BATCH is this any thing to do with that?
If any one know what are the steps I am missing please let me know.
Thanks

Bharati. You are trying to run RSCRM_BAPI in a process chain and the program is failing because :
1. The amount of data is too large or
2. The query is not executing because it it too large
See if you can :
1. Reduce the query data set
2. Create additional aggregates / indices to make the query run faster.
The query and its filter conditions can be found by going to the ABAP variant in the process chain -

If you want all the entries, try to run it in Background. Instead of F8, press F9 and fill up the details in the popups to schedule a job.
Or, try to run SE16 for NAST with some restriction like: user or creation date etc

Select/Read/Update in packages
Hello Masters.
I'm having a problem with a report that is supposed to update a field in a table.
This table has 3.4 million lines and I have to update all of the lines, because of a new field I've just appended.
The program is giving me an error of lack of space to increase my local table (TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
) and the only way I'm seeing to solve this problem is to read this table in smaller packages; after I have all these smaller packages I can go on with the rest of the updating.
I'm I thinking right? What do you advise me to do? How can I do several selects to pick up all the data in the end? Is there a way to do a select for the first 200 thousand and then the next 200 thousand or something like that? How can I know if I'm already at the end of the major table?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards.
Jorge FerreiraHi,
maybe you can use some old field of your table to divide lines into categories. The values of this field will distribute lines of your table into smaller chunks. For example if table contains year you will run your report for each year in the table.
Another way is that you will use addition UP TO n ROWS in your SELECT statement. So you will select first 10 000 lines where the new field is still initial. Then you will update these lines and do SELECT statement again. After initialization of the new field in first 10 000 line you will select next 10 000 lines. This method will not work if initial value is allowed value of your new field. You will be still loading same lines again and again.

Hi All,
I am getting to dumps while running the DTP. they are TSV_TNEW_BLOCKS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY and TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED. These happened only after transporting some transformations from dev to quality. the same DTP's are working fine in DEV. But they are failing in QUA.
I have checked the scenario. At the trasformation the process is getting stopped and from after sometime i am getting the DUMP. can anyone suggest me regarding the same.
Thank You,
Poornima.Hi All,
I have tried loading two records, its showing the same error.
and i checked out with BASIS they are saying in RZ10 everything is fine.
even while entering into debugging its throwing TIME_OUT.
I am wondering why this is happening again and again
and only for few DTP which has been trasnported is throwing the error.
Kindly suggest.
Thank You,

Hi;
Our SAP servers run on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition and Mssql 2005 64 bit. They have 16 Gb Ram and 42 Gb virtual memory.
I have to make system measurement by using tcode USMM. Although there is no problem when i run USMM on our test and productive server, i get a short dump TSV_TNEW_BLOCKS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY or TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED when i run USMM on our development server. I have checked profile parameters. They seem same on all servers. We get the dump only at our development server.
We have upgraded our production and test systems after that we have made system copy from production to development. Only difference is that.
The details for dump is below:

Best regards
NoyanHi Noyan,
FM INT_VCM_GET_MEAS_RESULTS retrieves data from tables
- TUCON
- TUREP (also from client '000')
- TUMSG
- TUMRES
You can compare those tables in SE16 (count entries) on development and other systems. Also you can call this FM iin test mode from SE37 with break-points on every select, that you can see, where your internal table is growing extremely. You may also do this on your Q system in parallel mode to compare it.
If you got the differences you should examine the regarding tables. Maybe there is a missing reorg job on your development system, or you need more memory (higher profile parameters) on this system for this action.

Hi All,
We are facing these errors approx. daily (but not everyday):
MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING
TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
Now, I searched the Forum but there is no acceptable answer for the current issue. Some person said that it could be possible if a user have entered any illegal range in program.
How can i modify the parameter values? RZ11 shows all parameters but not in RZ10(where we can modify).
Here is the current configuration:
Roll, extended and heap memory EXTM
ztta/roll_area 3000320 Byte Roll area per workprocess (total)
ztta/roll_first 1024 Byte First amount of roll area used in a dialog WP
ztta/short_area 3200000 Byte Short area per workprocess
rdisp/ROLL_SHM 32768 8 kB Part of roll file in shared memory
rdisp/PG_SHM 16384 8 kB Part of paging file in shared memory
rdisp/PG_LOCAL 150 8 kB Paging buffer per workprocess
em/initial_size_MB 14500 MB Initial size of extended memory
em/blocksize_KB 4096 kB Size of one extended memory block
em/address_space_MB 4096 MB Address space reserved for ext. mem. (NT only)
ztta/roll_extension 2000683008 Byte Max. extended mem. per session (external mode)
abap/heap_area_dia 2000683008 Byte Max. heap memory for dialog workprocesses
abap/heap_area_nondia 0 Byte Max. heap memory for non-dialog workprocesses
abap/heap_area_total 6442450944 Byte Max. usable heap memory
abap/heaplimit 40894464 Byte Workprocess restart limit of heap memory
abap/use_paging 0 Paging for flat tables used (1) or not (0)
I also read that some parameter values like Roll Area should not be changed like here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/02/96274f538111d1891b0000e8322f96/content.htm
Furthermore, some suggestions were to modify the Heap Parameters, Roll etc...
Here is our PRD SPEC:
Processor: Intel Xeon X5450 3.00GHz
RAM: 20 GB
HDD: 140 GB Internal
SAN: 700 GB RAID
Please Advise,
Regards.Hi Michael,

TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
Dear All,
First let me wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year.
I have one clarification here,
User was running a report with extensive selection, unfortunately the user got the error "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED"
Then there was shortdump in ST22, saying that " No more storage space available for extending an internal table"
I would like to know that which query was this user running during that time. then i can investigate further what can be done to avoid this problems.
I thank in advance.
Rgds,
Sin
Edited by: sinner icici on Jan 3, 2008 10:57 AMHi,
TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED - No more storage space available for extending an internal table.
It is purely the memory issue. you can resolve this by reducing the data selections. For the temporary solution remove the OLAP variable in the data selection if its there and run with less selection It may help and try to use the option in infopackage scheduler as PSA only and Update subseqently in data targets
SAP Note 425207 - SAP memory management, current parameter ranges
SAP Note 972889 - RMCENEUR: Short dump TSV_TNEW_BLOCKS_NO_ROLL_MEMORY
