TTS pause on ibooks version 4.2.1

I upgraded my Ipad earlier from 3.2.2 to 4.2.1 today and I use the TTS feature under iBooks that reads aloud for you... There is now a .25 second pause between paragraphs that was not in the 2 previous versions of iOS. However, the elongated pause betweeen pages has been fixed. Does anyone else have this issue, and have you figured out a work around?? I also tried TTS on Stanza ereader and there is no pause between paragraphs, but Stanza pages do not auto turn the same as iBook app does

Is ther some limit to the number of books or total storage used in IBooks?  Thanks....

    Hi jybravo70,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.
    Have a great day,

  • I bought the ibook version of "Photoshop Elements 11: Classroom in a Book"

    Hello
the ibook version of photoshop elements 11:  classroom in a book did not come with the lession CD that normally comes with the hardcopy of this book.  I was wondering if there
was any way of getting the Lession CD because the ibook is worthless to me without the lession CD.

There should be a link to these files at the back of the book.  For example in PSE 10 the page looks like this:
You could try substituting the ISBN number in the above book to see if it works.

  • Downloading the right iBooks version for iPad 1: solution!!!

    Hi,
I needed the right iBooks version for my iPad 1. What I did was: I used my iPad 1 to go to the app store. Once there I looked up 'iBooks'. When I tapped on it to download it it asked me if I wanted to install an older version. I tapped OK and it installed the older version compatible with my iPad.
    Done!!!!

No, this won't work. For how to do it see  Re: can you download a previous version of ibooks??

  • Used clamshell ibook version 9.2 from school system

I recently bought a used clamshell ibook version 9.2 from a school system for my daughter to mess around on.  Is there anywhere I can purchase software? Games? Can I update from 9.2 to OS x version 10.5.8?

Clamshell iBooks can only go up to 10.4.11 if they have Firewire. If they don't have Firewire, they can only go up to 10.3.9. Unfortunately if they don't have firewire, there is no way to easily or speedily recover data backed up to an external hard drive on those Macs, and I'd recommend sticking with 9.2.  Some used and refurbished Mac shops may have the software you desire*:

  • Kindle or ibooks version of an ebook, which should i purchase for my ipad2 and iphone4s?

If there is a kindle version Using kindle app)  and an ibooks version of an ebook, which version should I purchase for my ipad2 and iphone 4s if I have the choice and why?

No, and due to ebooks tending to have digital rights management on them you will only be able to read a book in that store's app or e-reader. For Kindle books you will need to download them in the Kindle app on the iPad, and I assume for Nook that you also download them manually in the app - as far as I know the iCloud only works with the iBooks app. For Kindle :
Whispersync automatically synchronizes your bookmarks and your reading location among devices registered to the same Amazon.co.uk account and is enabled by default. When you open a Kindle book you are also reading on another device, you are given the choice to go to the furthest page read if you are further ahead on the other device

  • I recently downloaded a book and it will not open due to being incorrectly formatted. Even though I downloaded this FROM iTunes!!!! What is going on, I have the latest OS and iBook version....??????????

I recently downloaded a book "In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day" and iBooks tells me its incorrectly formatted even though I downloaded this from iTunes and have the latest version of the iBooks app.  What is going on? I want a refund if this doesn't work.  My other books open fine.

The Report a Problem link can also be found in iTunes/Store/View Account/Purchase History.
Before asking for a refund, also try deleting the book and redownloading it.
If you find that the iBookstore is does not meet your needs, you can try one of the others like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Googlebooks, or Sony.

  • IBook versions not updating in iPad

When I try to view my .iBook drafts in iPad, the new versions never overwrite the old version.  I've tried editing the version number, editing the title name, file name, etc.  If the old version of the book is in my bookshelf, it will trump any new downloads.
The only workaround I've found is deleting the old version out of my bookshelf before downloading the new one.
How can I let an existing version update?
    Thank you!
    Tracy

We are talking about previewing in iBooks... When you preview your book on iPad, and leave it on the shelf, next time you preview the same title - presumably after some additions or changes, you preview that version, not the "old" version. In real terms the old version no longer exists because you added or deleted a part of it.
To avoid confusion with a project that is still in progress, most will delete after checking the preview.
IF you want a version saving..you need to duplicate your book after preview and before making changes.
I would suggest renaming by adding a number ie. xxxxxxx1.iba.  or before too long you will confuse yourself.

  • If I don't have an older version of Ibooks on my computer, can I use my friends older iBook version on my iPad to restore the old book shelf? Will it work?

I don't have an older version of Ibooks on my computer, can I use my friends, to restore the old book shelf version on my iPad? Will that work?

It won't change the version you now have.

  • HT204365 The new IBook version for iPad is not opening PDF files. Is it going to be fixed?

The new iBook 2.1.1 version for iPad is not opening PDF files. is it going to be fixed?

It is not broken. It works for me and it has always worked for me - every version of iBooks in every version of the iOS that I have ever run on my iPad. Therefore - I do not think that it is broken - or it would not work for me - and for countess others using iBooks and the current iOS version 5.1.1.
What have you done or tried to this point in order to get rectify the situation with iBooks? Have you restarted your iPad, quit iBooks completely and then tried again? Rebooted the device? Uninstalled and reinstalled iBooks?
    Anything at all?

  • I cant load iBook onto my ipad1 , how do I upload iBook version 3.2

I cant upload iBook on a iPad 1 that I bought on eBay , as they say i need iOS 7 but I can only get ios5 how can I get ibook3.2

To download the iBook app onto an original iPad you need to first download it to iTunes on your computer. Once it has downloaded open the Purchased section in the App Store on your iPad, tap on the app and you should be prompted to download a compatible version.

  • ITunes iBook version message

I have created a book in iBooks Author and I wanted to preview it. When I hit Preview, my iPad won't show on the list. Everything runs on the latest versions. When I export the iBook and put it on my iPad through iTunes, iTunes then will show a message that I need the latest iBooks. This is a bit eird because I have downloaded iBooks from the AppStore. What is happeniing? I have restarted my Mac an iPad en quit the applications several times. But with no result.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've reinstalled iBooks on my iPad a couple of times, also I've reinstalled iBA on my mac a few times. Nothing works. It used to work on my iPad, but now it's running the latest iOS beta. It may have something to do with that. But this is strange, my friend's iPad which is running the latest iOS 5.1.1 is also ignored by iBA. It used to work on his iPad and mine but now it is just ignored. Finder, iTunes and iPhoto are able to find our iPads but strangely iBA can't... Yeah, I am also running a beta of mountain Lion maybe that is the problem... Hopefully this is just a bug which will be fixed soon! I will see, until then it's just waiting I guess.

  • Submit an ePub AND an iBooks version of the same book?

So, my e-book is finally in the iBookstore (http://bit.ly/stock_footage_itunes).  I think it looks good in the standard iBook reader on both the iPhone and iPad.  But, I'd like to also submit it in the new iBooks Author format for more funcationality like quizzes and embedded video support.
My question is this: am I able to submit an "enhanced edition" of what is essenitally the same content that is already offered on the book store, and be able to charge a dollar or two more?  Or, will I go thru the effort of converting my book and buying another ISBN, only to have Apple reject my "second" edition due to duplcation?
Anyone ever done something similar?  I think it's a valid procuedue; the "regular" ePub version is for the iPod touch and iPhone (and the iPad if the user desires), and the "enhanced" edition would be for those on iPads who want a more enriched experience.
    Thoughts?

Yes, I have done this. We did a standard text edition as an ePub, and an enhanced version for $4 USD more. We did use two separate ISBN numbers.
There is even a field in the ITunes Producer app when you upload your book, to specify any related versions of your title, including other electronic versions as well as a print version, etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I find a list of printers that will work with my iBook version=2.2?

I need to print out a book I wrote on my old iBook...got rid of my Epson Stylus 62 and can't find a list on the iBook that says what other printers it will take. I have access to an old Dell 922 and am wondering if that can be hooked up and used to get the book printed without having to go to get info recovered and pay a lot of money. Thanks for any help!

    Oldmac
You should be able to connect  the Dell 922 (c.2004) to your iBook Jaguar(c.2002) - you may see the problem... finding a driver for the Dell922 may be a BIG obstacle as Jaguar pre-dates the Dell922 - thus, no built-in driver in the OSX  - it may be that some Dell driver will work but I would not bank on it.
    Alternatives:
What is stopping you from connecting iBook to the Internet?
What Mac or PC do you have now? Connect via network cabling? > transfer file (what Application?) > print ?
put your file on a thumb drive and transfer it to another's computer - friend, FedExOffice Store, etc.
    Think outside the box...
