Tumbnail images corrupt

I just upgraded my 17"MacBook Pro to Snow leopard and noticed that the tumbnail images of jpeg files on the desktop and in the filnder window show a corruption but when you open the file there is no problem with the file. It is a preview issue with the finder and the desktop. I have not rebooted yet to see if this fixes the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? As Wyodor asked do the photos look OK when you view the site locally with your browser?

  • Image Corruption in ACR/Bridge CS 6:

Shooting 1D mk lV, all image shot in RAW; Mac Pro Dual Core Xeon, ATI Radeon HD 5770. Downloads are via card reader.
Bridge/ACR will randomly take the first image I open and corrupt it. It could be per set of images or just the first image of the day. This is usually not a problem as my first images are usually just test/set up shots. This morning it screwed me royally.
I edited a shoot last night and put my highlight images into a separate folder. I then did ACR corrections and ran a batch for logo'd sample images and sent them to the client.
This morning I start up my computer and open the highlight image folder, select the 5 highlights, click on 'open in camera raw' and they pop up and after 2 seconds the first image corrupts.
I have tried copying the image to other drives as well as to my Mac Pro laptop and it does the same thing every time. Purging cache for selection doesn't work.
Copying the original in finder to another drive doesn't work (this has worked in the past).
This has happened in the past and I did find a fix of deleting a certain file in the adobe library (and it recreates it). I did save the page where I found the fix but haven't been able to find it.
I have re-created the ACR cache as well as the Bridge caches. After recreating the caches and clicking 'purge cache for selection' it briefly pops back the original and then corrupts again.
I've tried increasing cache size and various cache options.
When I view the file in finder, the tiny thumbnail shows the correct image but the preview shows corrupted image.
If I view the image in Canon's Digital Photo Professional, it pops up for a second normally and then corrupts itself.
I'm guessing it's a deep cache issue...I have well over a million images that have passed through CS6. I regulary clean my caches but am I missing something somewhere???
    Any suggestions from anyone???

Doubleclicking on the files in Bridge causes that quicktime or VLC or itunes (depending on the file format) will open that, but bridge does not handle anything?!
Bridge CC and Bridge CS6 both handle my .mov files from EOS 1Dx and iPhone without any problems. The show in the preview window and can be played with sound in this same window. (MacPro with 10.8.4)
Purging cache is what it is, it dumps the previous cache of the preview and forces Bridge to create a new one, nothing else is set to default.
First try a reset of preferences and hold down option key while restarting Bridge and choose reset prefs. then try again.

  • VJO in not defined & image corrupt or truncated, only in FF & also safe mode but ok in private browsing

VJO not defined & image corrupt or truncated
I am getting this error when the computer renders some websites. It happens with ebay & on youtube. It shows the text but no pictures or background. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and Firefox 4.0.1 it also happens in the newest version of FF & in safe mode , I have installed the latest Java runtime with no change ,but interstingly if I turn on "in private browsing" FF runs OK.
I have run Firefox in safe mode, I have uninstalled completely using the APPS own uninstaller & then cleaned up all the files left behind with a 3rd party uninstaller I have updated Firefox to the newest release & rolled back to v4.0.1,I have disabled all addons & AV & malware apps (just for a minute)I have even tried a system restore. Also the "VJO not defined" only happens with FireFox & not with IE.interestingly FireFox runs fine if I enable "in private browsing"

error Image corrupt or truncated: <unknown> what to do ?

Jim, thank you for an excellent responce.  I truthfully had researched the "Help" section on LightRoom and PhotoShop and found nothing that even remotely resembled your straight forward and easy to follow directions.  After upgrading to CS6 and LightRoom 4 I am delighted with all of the new features that Adobe created in PhotoShop.  I'm not sure that LightRoom 4 was as great an advancement as PhotoShop itself.
I am certainly going to give your solution a try and see how it works out for me.   I concur that I probably do not fully understand and appreciate the relationship between the two programs.  Today was my attempt of gaining a better insight to that relationship.  Thank you for your response!

  • Display All Running Task image corrupted or tampered with

My task scheduler reports of a number of corrupted task images. Now I want to display all running task on the server and it say the task image is corrupted or tampered with.
How do I recreate this task or repair it? Is there another way of viewing all task, running and inactive ones? What is causing these task image corruptions because my backup tasks are all now corrupted.

    Hi,
Before going further, would you please let me know if you do some changes (such as: install updates, configure or modify certain setting) before this issue occurred?
Please refer to the solutions that Ronnie Vernon provided in the following similar question. And then check if this issue can be solved.

  • Images corrupted in application package.

    Hi All,
I am using .png images in my application. After building the application. It creates myfirst.app ... if I right click it in finder and select "Show package Content" .. it shows list of resources. If I try to open the images (.png) ... some of those images are corrupted. But it the app works fine on the device .. and the images displayed are just fine.
Why does it show's corrupted in package? I am trying to upload it to the app store. I get following message ..
"The binary you uploaded was invalid. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate."
can it be the same image issue?
    thanks.
    Kiran

yes .. there was an option in the project settings which was compressing the images automatically .. I unchecked it .. and few changes in the project settings ... it worked ..

  • Oracle 9.0.1 Linux Intel images corrupt

The oracle 9.0.1 Linux Intel images I downloaded
from Oracle technology network are corrupt. Disk1 and

  • Oracle 9.0.1 Linux Intel Enterprise version images corrupt  on Downloads

The Oracle 9.0.1 Enterprise DataBase software for Linux Intel downloadable version on the Oracle Technology Network has 2 of the Disk images currently corrupt.
After downloading all the 3 Oracle 9.0.1 Database CD images for Linux Intel from the Oracle Technology network in binary mode, Disk1 and Disk2 images were found to be bad.
Disk 1 and Disk2 images could not be decompressed using gunzip or cpio. The following errors occur on linux

If the Oracle 901 Linux Intel Disk1 and Disk2 images
on OTN could be checked, it would help. I have put a
support request on Metalink, posted notes on the Database
general and Installation forums and the Technology Linux forum. But have got no feedback so far. Oracle Support
have recommended putting a note on this on OTN forums
as they have no means of vaildating the images on OTN.
Any feedback on these Oracle 901 Linux images will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mala

Yes. The filesizes of the Oracle 901 Intel images
on OTN match with what I downloaded in binary mode.
I found a reference in one of the DBMS forums on OTN
which suggested using the download tool from Getright.
Using the getright tool and the direct url link path
reference I downloaded the oracle 901 Linux images again
from OTN. This time I was able to run gunzip and
cpio -imdv successfully on all the 3 oracle 901 Linux
    images without any issues.

  • Embedded JPEG Extended images corrupted in Reader X, but not 9.4

    Hi,
We're experiencing an issue where JPEG images embedded in PDFs display properly with Reader 9.4.2 and with third-party readers such as FoxIt, but experience color corruption when displayed with Reader 10.0.1.  Adjusting display settings has not helped.
This only affects JPEG Extended images, i.e. non-progressive with a 16-bit quantization table, which quite a few pieces of software will produce at low quality settings.  JPEGs with 8-bit quantization tables, i.e. basically everything saved at higher quality levels, are not affected.
I can provide a sample PDF if needed.
Screenshot of the problematic PDF below.  The two images should look the same (though at different scales).  The first is a JPEG Extended image that displays properly in other PDF viewers and in 9.4.2, the second is the same image resaved at a higher quality level, and is what the first one should look like.
Please advise on potential workarounds, or if this is a known issue.

Have you tried with Reader X protected mode "OFF" ?

  • Brand new MBP built in iSight image corruption

I bought a new 15" MBP in September. 2.8 Ghz, 4gb ram, 500gb HD, one of the nicer, new models.
I haven't had a need to use the built-in iSight since then, but as I'm going abroad for a year in a few months and will be keeping in touch with my fiancee using it, I decided to give it a try and make sure everything is set up right.
Every time I turn the camera on it starts working just fine but within about 15 seconds it freezes, with multi-colored lines stretching across the last frame that it displays. Once it does that you need to quit whatever application you're in that is using the camera, let the camera turn off, and then re-launch the app, after which you get about another 15 seconds of functionality.
It does this across multiple apps. I have tested Photobooth, iMovie, and iChat and all show the exact same problem.
Some googling has suggested that I clear the PRAM (did nothing) and clear something that's name escapes me right now (I had to hold down the left hand alt-ctrl-shift keys with the computer shut off and press the power button), but neither of those fixes did anything.
Is this a hardware issue, or is there something else I can try?
here is a link to a picture that shows what this "corruption" looks like - Photo Booth at least has no problem actually taking a picture while the camera is frozen up like this, but it can't take any other picture than the one the camera gets frozen on.

You are wise to practice with your iSight before your major travel.
For any iSight trouble, start with Apple's "How to Troubleshoot iSight"
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there sometimes restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, the image you linked and all the things you have already tried lead me to believe that yours is most likely a hardware problem. Unless the Troubleshooting corrects your problem, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service. If your new Mac was bought from a local retailer, your retailer may be able to offer the best and fastest help.

  • Is anybody else seeing image corruption in Aperture Library?

    Folks:
I am new to this forum, but I have encountered a serious issue and I need to know if anybody else is seeing this. If not, then that would point at my platform as the issue rather than the app. What I am seeing is images being trunicated after import from the SD card. The preview is correct (whole image) but part of the image is gone and not recoverable. Additionally, I am seeing corruption of images when I use the Highlights and Shadows function -- it introduces lines into the image. On one case, I saw that using duplicate versions of a single image, attempting to adjust the second version also corrupted the first version. If I export the image, the issues are still there.
Has anybody else seen this issue? I am on V1.5.6 with the ProTools update installed.
    Thanks in advance.
    Respectfully,
    Bill Caid, San Diego

I have a similar problem. I have been shooting on a new EOS 40D, and after 3500 frames the images appear corrupt when I import them into my computer. I have put up examples on my iDisk public folder
    idisk.mac.com/ThorvardurGodi-Public
I have tried a new memory card, CF, to no avail. The reason why I am not certain it is the camera, is that corrupt images on my computer, are fine in the camera LCD, even when I zoom into them. Therefore, I have a difficulty explaining if the fault is not in the system or somewhere on the way to the hard disk.
Please if anyone knows this problem, or a solution to it, please respond.
    Best
    Thor

  • Image Corrupted After Import into LR4?

Several times now I've imported images into LR4 from my External HD and and a few the files are corrupted. (See attached image)
I realize that LR is not suppose to do anything to the files on the disk when importing... but I've checked the RAW images from back-ups and they are not corrupted prior to import into LR. AFTER import into LR the actual file (on the external HD) IS corrupted in both LR and then on the External HD.
My workflow has been to copy files from my CF  Card to the External HD (Western Digital 3 TB) ino the appropriate file... then go to LR4 and import.
Can anyone suggest what the problem is?  I replaced the Card Reader... same problem occurs.  I've checked numerous RAW files in Bridge... none are shown as corrupted (prior to LR4 import)

The corruption may or may not be “sudden”.  If things look ok in Library then it happened sometime between initial preview building during import and you’re viewing the image in Develop.   If the last place things looked ok was in the Import thumbnail grid, then that is only showing the camera-embedded previews, so the images may be corrupted on the card, already.
The most important thing is to determine what the problem is, where the corruption comes from, so you can fix it.  It could be the camera, the card, the camera-to-computer USB cable, the card-reader, the usb-slot, the computer-memory, the computer hard-drive, the USB-drivers, LR, itself, or some other software, like Microsoft Security Essentials has caused problems for some people in the past, although why is not really understood.
If the corruption is still occurring with the latest images, then you can experiment by changing one or more of the components mention above, and see if things are ok or still corrupted.
As far as recovery, if part of the image data is missing or zeroed out overwritten with random junk, there’s no way to get that bad data, back, from the existing file because the files, themselves, only have one copy of the data.
The three things I can think of to suggest are:
    1)      If the preview in Library doesn’t show the corruption then there are ways to retrieve the previews from the LR preview cache as JPGs.  This isn’t the same as the RAW data, but is better than nothing.
    2)      If the camera-embedded preview has not been damaged—it is typically stored in front of the raw data so depending on where the damage is, it could be intact, then there are ways to extract the camera-embedded preview from the raw file, which again is better than nothing.
    3)      The best thing is if you have a backup of the images that don’t show the corruption, either because the images are still on the card, or because you made a backup during import and the corruption happened sometime after import, then you could copy those over the top of the corrupted files and be ok.
These things may or may not be possible depending on your situation, though.  If you don’t have any backups that are ok, and LR’s previews are bad, and the in-camera preview is tiny or also damaged, then you’ll entirely out of luck for those images.  And things maybe really bad if it’s the hard-drive that’s failing and you have no backups of your images, there, either.  It is important to determine what is wrong, and with the least effect on the images that are still good.

  • Iphoto 08 image corruption- Spot heal tool

I have retouched a batch of tiff photos using the Spot healing tool. I was perfectly happy with the quality of the edit as i saved them. On reopening the images later i noticed that there are blurred/distorted marks all over the images. I can revert to the original images and undo all corruptions, including retouch edits. Again i have retouched the images and again the same problem occurs.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    hannick:
Make sure you're running the latest Quicktime version. Also run Disk Utility and verify your HD. If repairs are indicated you'll need to boot into the system install disk and run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Iphone 4S photo import image corruption creates "color lines"

Ever since I got the Iphone 4S, it's been corrupting my pictures occasionally during import. It's sad, because I usually have it set to delete the image after importing, so the uncorrupted image is lost forever. Below is an example of how the import destroyed a really nice picture of our newborn baby.
I'm running snow leopard, with iphone version 5.1. Originally I was using iphoto to do the import, but I read somewhere that image capture might fix this problem. But the problem still occurs even with image capture. Sometimes there are multiple "color lines" through the picture, although the one below only has one. Also, sometimes the image doesn't just change color across the line. It can also become misaligned, so tweaking the color isn't enough.
I'm not sure about this, but I think the problem may occur more frequently when I have a lot of apps sharing CPU. So I suspect it's a bug related to context switching. I'm not sure whether snow leopard or the iphone is the problem, although I don't remember it occuring with my older iphone 4.
I have noticed the problem tends to occur in batches of consecutive photos, which is why I think it has to do with memory swapping due to concurrent applications.
Does anyone have suggestions how to fix this problem?
    Thanks
    Justin

Sorry, I'm not a Mac user, but I found this for you: http://www.macxdvd.com/mac-dvd-video-converter-how-to/mount-iphone-as-hard-disk- drive.htm
I'm reasonably sure it will solve the problem, but not 100% sure.  It can't hurt to try.  You could also close other apps on your Mac when you do copy the pix.  Finally, you could try copying them to a friend's PC - which you would have to do manually (a piece of cake on a PC).
