TuneAid and missing folder

Greetings
I just reformatted my hard drive, and decided to reinstall most of the software manually, although I have a cloned backup (I have the time to do it, and I want to prune my software inventory down, I have tons of old stuff laying around). I reinstalled TuneAid and it will not launch. A portion of the crash log reads:
Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevic e
This MobileDevice.framework folder was on my backup. What do I need to install / reinstall or configure to get it back?. I tried applying the 10.4.11 combo updater again, but that didn't do it.
The only Mac application I can think of that I updated to a newer version than what's on my cloned drive was iTunes from 7.6 to 7.7.1. — did the update delete it or am I overlooking something else?
Can I just copy the MobileDevice.framework folder over?

So, I was wondering if upgrading to Leopard would fix the problem or is it time to replace in general.

There are never any guarantees, but the "missing folder" symbol means your existing installation is non-operational. The way to fix that is to erase the drive and reinstall OS X. Assuming there are no hardware problems your computer should return to normal.

  • The 'Missing Folder" and multiple hard drives

I have an iMac, OS 10.7.    I use Lightroom (LR)  5.7.    I have the Mac hard drive (HD), a 1T LaCie external HD, and a 2T Buffalo Linkstation external HD.
I admit that I did not realize how important it was to do everything in LR until after I moved and deleted images on the hard drives. My goal is to locate my photos and put them in one, happy, place so I can organize and delete the bad ones.
I understand that I need to Import images into LR from the Desktop or a HD, and know how to do that.
The problem I have is that I am confused and don't want to make a mistake and lose images.
    For example:
I have a "?" (question mark) on the "Charles pre-web" folder
I Right-Click and the "Find Missing Folder…" dialog box displays
    3. After clicking, the "Desktop" screen displays with many images
    4. After clicking "Choose" the dialog box asks if I want to merge.
    5. What do I do and where are these images?
    6. Can I safely delete the folder "?Charles pre-web"?
I have started adding Collections but need help with the organizing part as well.
Thank you in advance for any and all help. I am not stupid, just ignorant.

Do not click Merge -- that will completely mess up everything.
I don't remember if I moved it to another HD or deleted it?
In LR, click on the "Charles pre-web" folder, and Library view will show you just the thumbnails of the photos that were in that folder.   Choose one of the photos, write down its exact filename (e.g. "DSC03025.dng"), and then use the Mac's Finder to search for it on your hard drives.  Once you find where it is, go back to LR and click the "!" in the upper-right corner of the photo's thumbnail, and then click Locate.

"When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened"
Brownale6 how can  u reload folder in to FCP.
As you said folders are moved to external disk but have you checked it should be like this

  • I just replaced the power supply in my Intel imac and now the screen is really really dark and I see the missing folder icon, what do I do?

The power supply in my Intel iMac went out (and smelled pretty burned) so I replced it and now when I start it up the display is so dark I can hardly see it and it shows the missing folder icon. Is it the inverter? Or if shine a flashlight on it and re-install the OS will changing the display settings maybe fix it?

Thanks for ur quick reply to my problem. I tried all of that with no results... I did notice tho that the lights next to and above my caps lock key and my num lk key are now flashing. They flash in unison three times then there is a two second pause then they flash three more times and this repeats. They may have been doing this before I tried this solution but I did not take notice until now... I was also wondering how I am supposed to know, after pressing f10 to enter bios, how I can tell if my new drive is being detected when my monitor will not function? Was pressing f10 supposed to possibly make the monitor turn on? In a last ditch effort to try and further identify the problem, I re installed my old drive. Before replacing it my computer would begin to boot then display a hard error that would not allow me to continue booting and run Windows. My display would still work but I could not run Windows. After re installing the drive the monitor will not turn on. I'm beginning to think that I have a bad monitor. Is there a way of testing this with out buying one? Where does the monitor connect to the mother board? I wonder if maybe its been jarred loose, although I highly doubt it, it may still be worth looking at. Thanks again for your advice.

  • Arching of files is gone from the downloads and documents folder

The arching list of files is gone when rolling over the downloads and documents folder. I removed the downloads folder by accident yesterday from the dock. Once I found it, I replaced it back on the dock and now the arching of files is gone on both folders. I have them as lists by date. I have restarted my MacBook Pro several times, clicked on the dock and properties and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to get it back? Are there any settings that I am missing?. Thanks!

Right click on the folder in the Dock (or hold down the Control key and click on it if you have a one-button mouse), and choose "Stack" under the "Display as" section, and "Fan" under the "View content as" section in the resultant contextual menu. You can also choose how they are sorted from this menu as well.

  • Bug with workflow that creates a folder and sub folder with the same name.

    Hi,
I've found a possible bug in SharePoint 2010 workflows. I only have access to SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010 over my companies intranet, afaik I don't have access to to logs or anything server side so sorry for the any missing information.
I had some problems with a workflow in one list that needed to create some folders and subfolders in a second list. The production version did a lot more so I setup a test area with 1 list and a workflow that only does the folder creation part and have managed
    to consistently replicate this problem.
The test list has two columns, [title] and [sub folder title]
The workflow starts by getting the values for [title] and [sub folder title] into variables.
It then creates a folder in the same list with the same name as [title], and then creates a sub folder under this with the name from [sub folder title]
So the resulting structure would be:
    Test List:-
List item with fields [title] and [sub folder title]
        [folder: title]:-
            [folder: sub folder title]
If both folder names are different (e.g Folder1 and Folder2) then it works perfectly fine, if both folder names are the same (regardless of character case, e.g. samefolderName and sameFolderName) then the workflow fails.
As part of the test i made the first action of the workflow to log the message "Workflow Started" to the history list. When the workflow fail there's nothing logged in the history list other than the error: "The workflow could not update the
item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information."
Creating a sub folder with the same name as it's parent works fine manually but for some reason a workflow can't seem to do it in one action.
As there's no history list entries before the error it looks like the workflow is just failing to start but if i do something like add an if statement to check if [title] and [sub folder title] are the same, and only create the subfolder when they are not
then it runs fine doing what it's set to.
The function of the workflow in our office was for convenience so were just working without it. Just wanted to post to see if anyone else has come across this/could try to replicate or explain this  and see if it's a SharePoint bug or something specific
    to our setup.
    thanks,
    Martin

not sure about the specifics of your workflow, but if you're querying the list for the folders... keep in mind that a list lookup will only ever bring back ONE item... even if there are several items that meet the filter criteria... example: if i search
a list for an item assigned to "john doe", there may be 15 tasks that meet the criteria, and it'll only grab one... this is why SP Designer WARNS you when your list lookup may exhibit this behavior.

  • Import Problems and Missing Images

    Hi
Firstly apologies for this being so long and so detailed, but I wanted to include as much as possible to narrow down options.
I'd like to say before describing the problem(s) that I use lightroom 2 and have not knowingly changed any settings since I started using it last year.
It seems I've been having a problem with Importing and haven't been aware of it. I wondered if anyone can throw any light on the situation, or help pinpoint the problem(s) and provide any solutions. All images I've imported since starting with Lightroom have been stored in folders according to date taken.
Today I tried importing photos all taken on the same day, on the same memory card. The images had never been imported, or on the computer before. I used import from device and left it to get on with it. When I checked back, only five images seemed to have been imported and three other image file names were shown with grey boxes.most of the images had not been imported, so I started import again.
This time all the remaining images were imported. However, when I looked across at the 'Folders' list there were now two. Previously I had only ever noticed/used one. The names of the two are "Local Disk (C:)" and "Backup (D)". The first only has three folders in it from July and September 2009. One of these contains the images from the restarted import. They all seem fine. The second [Backup (D:)] contains all othet folders since 2002 and a folder with the first five of today's images.
The five images from today in "Backup (D:)" are all blurry. Also, when I try to open them I get the following messages. Either "The fie appears to be unsupported or damged" or "The file named IMG... is offline or missing". Although I was concerned, I decided to leave it and look into it later. I then started to work on some photos I'd taken in July, in the folder shown in list "Backup (D:)". All these photos came from a different camera and different type of memory card.
Halfway through reviewing these images I came across lots of greyed out boxes each with a file name corresponding to photos I had taken. When I click on any of the greyed out boxes, or one of the perfectly clear images I get the same message as above for the five images from today. If I open one of the images from July in Develop and click on 'File' there is no 'export' option. I haven't had time to check yet, but suspect there may be more folders like this one. (Big sinking feeling!)
Again, apologies for the long description of the problem, but if anyone can help with any of the following questions I'll be very grateful.
Why has this problem started to occur with 'import' and any suggestions for rectifying it, apart from checking all images straight after importing?
Even though I have very sharp images in 'Library' and 'Develop' for the July images, have I lost them? If not, where can I find them, or how can I export them? It may be worth mentioning that the memory card the images were originally on has been formatted and I think used since.
Finally, how can I get back to one safe working list of folders. This includes how do I get the working ones in both lists into one?
Thanks for reading this and I look forward to any suggestions for any of the problems.
    Graham

    Hi
An update on the situation. First some more information that may be of relevance later. I started out with LR1 and updated to 2 when it became available. There were a couple of glitches, but when I did, I just imported the settings directly from 1. I can not remember any of the settings I specified now. On my computer I use two physically seperate hard drives, with the 'D' drive being for backups.
Back to the problem. We can now eliminate faulty files or images. After some exhaustive searching all of my photos are well and healthy in a folder I created in 'My Documents" called "Photos" (how original). In that folder there are sub-folders with dates only and others with names like "imported in 2009 20th July". Each of these folders contains the images imported in to LR on that day (not taken on that day).
I also have a folder on the 'D' drive called 'Lightroom' that has lots of sub-folders with dates. These contain images imported into LR and are all sorted according to the date taken. I assume that this must be the automatic backup. when I tried to open the folder for the July images that were faulty in LR, I got a 'corrupted' message. The original images are all fine on the 'C' drive in the 'Photos' folder. I'm assuming the corruption probably occured on backup.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this leads me to believe that the issue in LR for me is a database/catalog one. In my first post I explained that under 'Folders' I have somehow regently aqquired a second option ("Local Disk (C:)" and "Backup (D:)"). I only recently noticed this and previously had only one list with folders. What I now need is help in getting LR to offer me the options of the images in "Photos" on the 'C' drive.
When I go to "File\Recent" in the catalog section of LR I'm offered two options.
The first is "Lightroom 2 Catalog-2.Ircat-(Filepath to Lightroom)\Backups\2009-09-05 1155" This option is ticked.
The second is "Lightroom 2 Catalog-2.Ircat-(Filepath to Lightroom)" This option is not ticked.
When I look in the "Lightroom" folder, that I assume LR created in "My Documents" I can see a sub-folder that relates to the first option in the "Backups" folder.
I'll post this now, but if detailed information about all the folders, sub-folders and files displayed in the "Lightroom" folder could help, I could provide it.
Thanks again for reading this and the help/suggestions so far. Any thoughts, suggestions, or solutions will be much appreciated.

  • Bridge CS5 - Adding metadata to RAW files is hit and miss

Can someone help me??? Bridge CS5 will only add the metadata I enter to the files it feels like doing. It is hit and miss. Some files will add it, and other files will get the message "There was an error writing metadata to 100824_Banks_06.NEF". It will go through my whole folder of RAW files, then other times it will allow one or two of the files to get the information. I am going crazy! Is this a preference setting issue, or what?

    Tai Lao wrote:
Bridge is the weakest of all Adobe applications I use.  It suffers from the same issues since its first release, when we were told to forgive the teething problems of any version 1 application.  Now it's in version 4.x.
I actually spent most of the last two days wrestling with Bridge, and getty pretty annoyed with it. The "Error writing metadata" bug caused me no end of problems in trying to reorganise my keywording of 20,000 photos, and turning the air blue in the process.
I agree that Bridge seems to be the poor relation in the Creative Suite. I call it the Less Glamourous Sister. It needs to be 64-bit to host 64-bit Camera Raw, and it needs to manage resources faster and more efficiently.
I've spent a fair amount of time watching Bridge's activity with a resources monitor utility, and it's a very busy lady. It seems to poll several drives every second or two, accessing the registry, disk-based settings and library files regularly too, even when it appears to be doing nothing. And, even though I had indexed and cached my whole 20,000 photo collection, Bridge insists on recreating some thumbnails and previews at random intervals.*
I decided that the anti-virus software suggestion was a red herring in my case (I now realise this is the Mac forum anyway). Photos which gave an error became subsequently locked for several minutes, and I had to edit the sidecar files by hand. In the end, I worked out that, even though there is no on-screen indication of activity, Bridge is quietly working its way through every item in the Content pane, and it is this action which seems to coincide with the Metadata Error. Wait for it to end, and chances are much reduced, but not fully removed.
Oh, and Adobe's customer treatment might be debatable, but that helpful customer you quoted was a regular abuser of other forum users, so I like to see a silver lining from that post.

  • I Have Elements13 and Apple Yosemite:  When I open the organizer, import and select folder it locks up.

I am using PS Elements 13 with Apple Yosemite.   When I open the Organizer, import and select folder, it locks up.

I Did what you said.  But when I click on Folders and try to open  a sub folder it still locks up. All of the media I have opened is not divided into folder. Is there any way to remove all of them and start over?   I have been using Bridge with PSE13 and it work great.  With Organizer I get missing files. My organizer PSE12 works ok on my laptop.

  • Find Missing Folder - does not work.  Please help!

Has anyone had this problem?  This is driving me crazy.  Any time I rename or move a folder and try to use the "Find Missing Folder" option it does not show any of my hard drives!  It has been like this through several LR updates.  I kept praying the next release of lightroom would fix this, but so far no luck.

Did you try clicking on the left menu, on the _folder_, and selecting "Update folder location"?
You can also try "promote parent folder" to move it up the chain and find the missing drives...
    Cheers!

  • Entire drive not available when finding missing folder

I keep my photos on an external hard drive so I can use Lightroom on my laptop and desktop computers.
I just opened up my catalog on my desktop, and as expected all of the pictures as flagged as missing (since the desktop mounts the external drive as a different drive letter than the laptop).  I right-click on the folders and select "Find missing folder", however the dialog that comes up only allows me to select folders in my user directory on my C drive.  There is no address bar, and none of my other drive partitions or the external hard drive show up as selectable options.
Here is an example of what I mean..

That's an LR bug which I think only affects Windows systems, and is caused by having too many icons on your desktop (no, I'm not kidding). Workaround/fix is either clean up you desktop a little (or a lot), or you can start typing the path to the external drive in the Folder box at the bottom of the dialog box and all will be revealed.

  • Face detection hit and miss

I am finding this feature to be very hit and miss. I have a lot of folders with full-on, well-exposed face shots that LR is not picking up faces in, and other folders with partial faces that are obscured, dark, or over blown that it is picking out faces in. Then there were the random squiggles of grass that LR thought was my very bald brother...
There doesn't seem to be a way to get it to re-check folders, and "find similar faces" doesn't seem to do anything but look for faces I've already confirmed - the naming makes it seem like if you say, "Hey, here's a face to look for," it would go back through the folder/catalog and look for similar faces that weren't already picked out.
It's got potential, but in its current state, I'm going to have to go through and manually choose faces in thousands of photos that LR theoretically should be picking out. Bummer.
    Keep working on it, Adobe.

My experience so far with LRs face detection is a little disappointing as well.
I understand that machine face recognition has severe limits. Persons age, change in expression, glasses, hats... not to speak of angle of shooting, light conditions etc etc. Plus it needs to be computationally feasible.
And yet when I started to name a person, particularly after having tagged some childhood pictures, the suggestions started to get very very odd, including faces from the opposite sex, some graphic ornaments on a wall, and ancient Greek statues.
And then going through a large collection (again!), with thousands of clicks...
Adding to the disappointment: Although LR CC writes face data to XMP-mwg-rs tags (jay!), it does NOT read and process existing XMP-mwg-rs written by other software (Nooooooo!).
Thousands and thousands clicks to go, again...
