Tuner 7 and Acrobat Std. 7
Hello,
I'm trying to deploy Acrobat Std 7.07(I was able to slipstream the updates) in my organization. I am using Tuner 7 to create the .mst file, and the default install path I set is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0. the install works fine, however the files are stored under C:\Program files\Adobe. It does not create the Acrobat 7.0 folder. Can anyone help me with this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Tommy
I had this same issue with some clients not receiving the icons on the start menu or the desktop with Adobe Standard 7.0.8 and Adobe Reader 7.0.8 although the install went fine (if I manually created the icons the program would run fine). After looking into the issue further I realized this issue was only occuring on Windows 2000 SP4 machines. Upon searching the test machine, I found the icons in the root of the C: drive - this led me to believe that the install could not figure out where to place the icons in W2K SP4. I resolved the issue by using the ALLUSERS=2 switch in the SMS package command line. This explicitly states that the program is to install to the All Users profile. Issue resolved after much additional gray hair. I hope this information helps someone else out there fix their issue faster than I did.

Regards,
DharmenderHi Dharmender ,
Did you try to repair your Acrobat once ?If not please try the same and check if that helps you out .
Launch Acrobat >Navigate to Help >Repair Acrobat Installation .
Do you get any error message or any prompts when it hangs and become unresponsive ?
Does this happen with any specific PDF or all the PDF'?
Also you could try to uninstall Acrobat once and they re install it if the above step does not work .
Please restart your machine once as well.

Using Adobe Customization Tool XI to deploy Acrobat STD and PRO
Hello,
I'm using Adobe Customization Tool XI to build Adobe Acrobat STD and PRO packages.
It seems that none of my changes stick during deployment.
Example: I open AcroStan.msi with the tool. Make all necessary changes and generate transform file. I then exit without saving changes to AcroStan.msi file.
After that I test the installation in C:\Test folder with the following command:
msiexec /i acrostan.msi TRANSFORMS=test.mst
Installation window pops up since I didn't use silent installation switches, but none of the information I have provided are available, it defaults to out of the box experience asking for serial number as well.
Am I doing something wrong?
LukeI have created .mst file named test and put it in c:\New Folder along with all source files, including AcroStan.msi
Command line:
c:\new folder>msiexec /i AcroStan.msi TRANSFORMS=test.mst /qb (I've used QB to watch the progress).
It failes with this error attached below.
We can close this subject though.
I've started testing this on different machines and they all work fine.
I have many VMs to test on, and the one I have picked to start with is causing the above error so I'm going to link this issue with the OS.
Other VMs and desktops are working great. -
I am using SharePoint 2010 for Shared Review. Most of the testing has been successful with a few minor problems. The biggest has been that some are not getting the connection request. The document for review opens immediately either in the user's browser or Adobe Acrobat or Reader. We have not been able to nail down the reason yet. But, it has happened on systems running Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat X Pro. We have had success with others using Acrobat X Pro and Reader 9.
What I am most confused on is why some of our users are not getting the request to connect to the SharePoint workspace to do their review. If they go through Windows Explorer to where the file is located to open it directly, it asks the user to Check Out the file and then Save & Continue. If they do this, they seem to lose the ability to publish their comments directly to the server. They don't even get the options to check for new comments. The file is opened and they are able to work with it like a normal file.
What could we have done wrong that caused this? Each the users has the appropriate permissions to the SharePoint site. I have noticed in the tracker that the two that had the issues don't have their name or title appear. I checked both of them in the Identiy section of the Preferences and their name, title, organization and email are all missing. Only their UserID is shown. Could this be part of it? We were all using the same intranet wireless system. All users were able to open the review file. When someone receives the link for review through the email, does the link verify through the email address listed in the prefences?
Jason LopezHello Vikas,
To answer your questions:
1. Do all reviewers have a local copy of the review file, or is it kept at a shared location and everyone is commenting on it.
- I have tried it both ways with the same results. Our preference is to keep the PDF in a shared location so that all reviewers can see each others' comments. (Since the problem began, we have lost that capability, and the "semi-workaround" is to email each reviewer the PDF, each reviewer makes comments locally, and emails it back to the writer. This is less than ideal as each review cannot see each other's comments... However, I was able to publish them "on behalf".
2. Are you only having trouble with publishing new comments or is it that you cannot see earlier added comments also.
Reviewers are unable to publish their newly-added comments as there is no Publish button/icon. If I have published another's comments on their behalf, they can see them. However, they cannot Reply - as the Reply button is disabled.
3. Are there some specific files with which you are having trouble or is it a generic problem.
It happens with all files, so it is generic. Anyone who has Reader 9 has no Publish button when opening a shared review generated from Acrobat 8.
Thanks for any help you can provide. We are hoping the problem resolves when we upgrade to Acrobat 9 but that alas will not be until sometime in the new year, hopefully. -
Acrobat std. 6, and reader 9 conflicts HELP!!
Hello,
I have a client who has both acrobat standard 6.0 and acrobat reader 9.0 on his machine.
he needs both as the standard was set up for printing to networked printer in his office, by the printer's sales team.
he has no problem when opening .pdf files that are local. the problem happens when he tries to open a pdf web page or should i say a web page with a pdf file embedded in it. the computer wants to revert to acrobat standard and not use 9.0 to open the file.
i can not find a solution to this problem. i have looked in control panel/folder options/file types and have changed a few things, but to no avail.
any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
thank you.
paulUnfortunately you have found one of the many reasons why having both on the same machine is neither recommended nor supported. It looks like you have tried most everything there is to try.
The only other thing I can suggest is to go in to Task Manager and be sure that Standard is completely shut down before trying to open a PDF through the web browser. Of course that will be a pain to do every time... -
Editing pdf attached to outlook emails with Adobe Acrobat - Std or Pro?
Hi
I have a customer, who wants to edit the PDFs, which are attached to emails, before forwarding them. (He just wants to add a sticky note).
I recently found out, that this is only possible with Adobe Acrobat and not with Adobe Reader. Now, the question is, which version do they have to use? Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Professional?
Does someone just know the answer or can anyone with Adobe Acrobat Std test this situation?
Kind Regards,
eddieIt's been a long time since I've used Acrobat 7 Pro but I have used Acrobat 8 Professional.
The key thing is to choose the correct tool. You're looking for the Touchup Text tool, which is probably on the Advanced Editing toolbar. You can probably open up that toolbar by choosing View > Toolbars > Advanced Editing. With that tool selected, drag through the sentence to be deleted. Right-click (Control-click) on the selected text and press Delete. -
Acrobat Std v9.5 browser session locks up past 2nd page
I updated to v9.5 Acrobat Std. yesterday (from v9.45 --> 9.46 -->9.47 to 9.50).
I opened a PDF linked inside a webpage to a new tab (using 32 bit IE9). The webpage PDF opens fine. But when I scroll to the second page (which is black), the browser session locks up (including all open tabs). I have to use Task Manager to kill the particular non-responsive IE9 session (i.e., other, independent IE9 browser sessions do NOT lockup, and do remain running when I kill the errant session ...just guessing, but the non-locked up sessions may be an artifact of independent memory spaces from using W7 64 bit).
I tried this several times, opening a new browser session each time, trying to view the document past the first page (and if I do not scroll to the second page, the session does not lock up), and the lockup happened each time (i.e., the error is duplicable).
Testing, I opened another new session, clicked on the PDF link and chose to Save As, and placed the document on my desktop. It downloaded almost instantly, and opened just fine (and I was able to read the entire 7 pages of mixed texts & charts).
I did not experience this problem with Acrobat v9.45, ever ...and yes, I use that feature often (so I would have known if there had been an issue). I never really tested the issue under Acrobat v.9.46/9.47 (I didn't open those versions at all ...I was doing Adobe updates manually as per my usual routine, and generally follow the sequential order "just in case").
...and if no one can point me to a solution, then I suppose I'll have to try removing the update (if that's possible), or deleting Acrobat 9 (after deactivating the license - I read within this forum that you can do that, if you need to uninstall for some reason) and re-installing Acrobat 9.0 from scratch (I'd really rather not do that, but if that's what it takes).
NOTE: I do not have Adobe Reader installed. My OS is Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) w/8GB of RAM, and Intel Core 2 Quad. My preferred browser is IE9. All software and OS patches are current [to-the-version]. I'm an experienced user (20 years plus as a systems administrator); and non-gamer (i.e., malware free). This is a work box (primarily used for client remote support).
Cross posted from the Adobe Reader discussion forum (as I didn't get any responses there). In reference to this change in the Custom Reports... Better experience when exporting data - to prevent customer confusion when exporting data from Mac computers, we have removed the export to excel option and exporting in CSV format by default.
What is the customer confusion we are trying to stop here? I've got even more confused customers at the moment because all of a sudden they can't find the export to excel option but know it exists if they log in on a PC?

After exporting the whole workbook to a single pdf file, page sizes are inconsistent. When viewing the document in full screen, some pages show up as 25% zoomed, others as 34%. I could re-print the exported pdf file to pdf in Acrobat Std, and that way I could get the same page size throughout the document, but then I loose my bookmarks, which I don't want.
I have already set the page size to A4 in Excel, but that's not where my problem lies. any help, hint is appreciated.A good place to start is Karl Heinz Kremer's blog, where he has a few examples:

Text box tool behavior in Acrobat Std 9
Hello! When we were using Acrobat Std 7 the text box would automatically adjust its size to fit the text we typed. Now we are in 9.1 and it does not do that, it tends to be about twice the size we need. I can not find a setting anywhere. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.no worries! ok, I have acrobat 9 standard. let me talk you thru it.
Double click on your text box. your text field properties should open.
Click on the "appearance" tab. you will see a "Borders and Colors" section and a "Text" section.
"Font size", "text color"," font" should be there.
The "font size" drop down window displays "Auto,6, 8, 10,12,14,18" Choose the "auto" button. when you close your document and reopen to use it, it will type in a fairly large font unless you type in quite a bit of text. as you do that, it will shrink, or auto fit.
if you don't have this window within the "appearance" tab, you might have chosen the "typical" install. uninstall acrobat and install the "custom" install so that you get all the features. that's the only reason i can think of as to why you're not seeing the "font" section in the appearance window.
let me know what happens!
hey, if you've done all this, i apologize...just trying to work thru it with you. -
Problem with 2nd scan in Acrobat Std 8
I submitted this problem a few days ago, but it seems to have disappeared from the forum.
I am Using Acrobat Std 8.1.4 with a Canon MP530 all-in-one printer (in Twain mode). Since approximately a month ago, the following problem started with no apparent reason (no chg in hardware, no obvious chg in software except for Adobe & Microsoft updates):
I do "Create Pdf" | "From Scanner" and it works fine the first time. If I try to scan again within the same session (to a new pdf or to an existing pdf), I get the following error message:
Error while interfacing with the scanner; the selected scanner was not found.
I re-installed the printer drivers a couple of days ago (but I am not sure this did anything to the Twain drivers).
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
GabrielAny insightful suggestions from Acrobat or Twain gurus?
Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problem?
Thanks,
Gabriel -
Transferring / Upgrading license - Acrobat Std.
I purchased and registered Acrobat Standard X in July 2012. In August last year I upgraded to version XI. My Adobe page only lists the serial number for Version X.
I now have a new laptop and want to install Acrobat Std.. I can now only download version XI but the installer won't recognize the Version X serial number.
What can I do?Limey_in_408 I reviewed your case and you are correct you do not currently have a login for https://licensing.adobe.com/ which contains not only the serial number but the download to the volume license installer for Acrobat X Standard. You will want to work with your I.T. or purchasing department as either one should have logins to the site. They can also request to have you added as a deploy-to contact which will allow you to access the serial numbers and the installation files.

Since Mountain Lion upgrade Word and Acrobat crash on print
I installed Mountain Lion a couple of days ago. Now I'm not able to print from Adobe Acrobat or MS Word. I am using MS Office 2011 and Acrobat Pro 9.5.1. Both programmes crash when I try to print a doc. This never happened before. I can still print from all other programmes as far as I can see. I've tried re-setting the Mac Printer system but that didn't work.
The error messages I get are below - I've just copied the first part of the threads. Any advice greatly appreciated. Currently I'm a bit stuck!

Unknown error when using Content Editing in Acrobat Std XI
In Acrobat Std XI I tried to use the first three items in Tools-Content Editing and get the following popup:
Is this a bug or is there something wrong with my document?Sorry i didn't understand the font part.

Could you be more specific?
And also what exactly do you do to get the error? -
Acrobat std. 9 & 10 conflicts with MS Office & SharePoint 2010
HELP!!!!
I have a user base that access PDFs stored in a Workspace on our SharePoint server and access them via our Intranet SharePoint site. These users have Acrobat Std 9 and 10. We have recently installed MS Office 2010. The users were given a short cut to the files on SharePoint but the short cut is a Windows Explorer window as allowed in SharePoint. The Problem: when the users attempt to open any file through the short cut, it can take up to 20 or 30 minutes for the file to open, somethings it times out. The user, thinking something is wrong, will attempt to close the window, ultimately making the machine unresponsive and requires a reboot. However, if the users copies and pastes the files to their local machine, it opens right away. If the users traverse the Intranet SharePoint site, down through the various folders of the SharePoint Workspace, they can open the files without issue. This issue only occurres when Office 2010 is installed with acrobat 9 or 10 and they access the files via the windows explore short cut. We have even tried uninstalling Office 2010 but once installed the issue remains. The order of the install does not affect the outcome. Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there a resolution?Hmm... there have been other discussions of Acrobat X MS Office 2010 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/884628?tstart=0 but I don't remember seeing anything like your problem
You may want to send a report to Adobe (this user to user forum is not actually Adobe support)
