Tuner for 7.0 Acrobat Reader - no SMS files?

I am trying to create a Package Definition file using Tuner 7.0. I have checked the box "Create SMS file (SMS 2.0 or later)". When I create the package in the Tuner (not SMS admin console) there are not files listed under "Copying SMS related files" in the message pane. I cannot find any .sms files.

Are you talking about the Package Definition Files (ironically called PDF's) or the MIF files for install/deinstall status reporting?
On the MIF files - not quite sure why it wouldn't work. You don't need to specify a path. Also I noticed they don't get created unless you run the package wizard. Plus double check that Create PDF and Create SMS file are definately checked on.
Then on PDF files - if there not working you really don't need them anyhow since its pretty easy to setup a msi installer in SMS from scratch.

    Hello AKA_TG,
There are manuals installed on your PC. You can find them at
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\manuals
    Hope this helps.
But of course these do not include anything like a complete set of manuals like in the 'old' days'. The only included manuals of much help to a beginner are the getting started and quick reference manuals.
    AKA_TG,
If you want a hardcopy, your only real option is to do a print of the LabVIEW Help. I have not done a print in a long while. What I tend to do is look at the release and upgrade notes to see what has changed and then look it up in the Help. I'll also open any new examples with Context Help turned on.

  • Why can't I password-protect a PDF that's been Enabled for Commenting in Acrobat Reader?

What is the point of not being able to password-protect a PDF you have enabled Commenting in for Acrobat Reader users?
We are testing out the option of using the "commented" PDF from the user's end (who just has Acrobat Reader). These PDFs we'll be sending are highly sensitive and need to be password-protected.
We're using Acrobat Pro 9 from CS4, on new Intel iMacs running the latest updated Leopard.
    Help?

You need to passsword protect the file before enabling commenting in
Reader. Just don't save in between the two steps.

  • Form designing for compatibility between Acrobat Reader 7 and Acrobat Professional

I have designed a Form using LiveCycle Designer 7.0. It contains a few subforms and lot of javascripting. One of the javascript logic I am using is to display a subform when a user clicks a radio button and hide it when the user clicks another radio button. The subform contains Text field, Numeric field, Rectangle, Line, Button. This worked well with Acrobat Reader 7.
After I installed Acrobat Professional 7, my form breaks. I did a quick test to see where it breaks and came out with the following conclusion.
    1. If the subForm contains an Image, Line, Rectangle or Circle control, the subForm rendering throws error (Adobe Acrobat 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close) when I click on the radio button to display the subform.
    2. If the subForm contains Text control, it is displayed even if subform is invisible.
    3. If the subForm contains Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown list, List Box, Button, Submit By Email, Submit, Print Form, Reset Form; these controls are never displayed even if subform is visible.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for the response.
I need some clarification. When you say 7.0.5 version, are you expecting 7.0.5 version of Reader or Professional?
    Here's the steps I followed:
I originally had Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 and Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and everything worked great.
Now I have uninstalled Designer and Reader and installed
Acrobat Professional Tryout. This installs Acrobat Professional version 7.0.0 and Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 (which is the same as above). Now the same forms which were working earlier are not working as expected.
Please note that I have NOT installed Acrobat Reader 7.0.5. How do I find out what version of Reader does Designer user for PDF preview?
If I separately download Acrobat Reader 7.0.5, how do I tell Designer to use that version for PDF preview?
    Thanks,
    Satish

  • How do I Reveal/Hide Hidden Layers for viewing with Acrobat Reader (iPad)?

    Hi,
I've created a document in Quark Xpress with multiple layers which I then exported to a PDF. Using Acrobat Pro I created hotspots which revealed/hid these layers on rollover. It works perfectly on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader but not on Acrobat Reader for iPad (where the hidden layers are automatically switched on and touching the hotspots does not hide them). Does anybody know a good work around to this?

There are many features which are possible in the desktop version of Adobe Reader which won't work in Reader for tablets. I think this is one of them. Probably no workaround possible until the feature is updated.

  • Server sizing for multi-client Acrobat Reader access of .pdf files

I am trying to specify the appropriate file server (need processor rating & memory size)running Windows 2008 for 64 high tempo users on a LAN accessing large .pdf files (~20 mb each) using Acrobat Reader 8 or 9. Total data package size is about 30 Gig. LAN is Gigabit speed on CAT 6 cable.
    Suggestions?

Time is 10:35 PM, Jan 30, 2014 after a day of nerve racking attempts to get Adobe Reader 11.0.6 to open a pdf file I have finally succeeded in doing so.  The following apkhan response to my original inquiry, even though it didn't directly help me much, but it gave me an insight that what I was inquiring about in the description of my problem had to do something with the EULA I was inquiring about and couldn't find were and how that is to be done.  For whatever reason I had installed Reader 11.0.6 three times throughout the day and still couldn't read a pdf file or see the EULA to agree to it or not.  During another installation of Reader 11.0.6 at 9:00PM, 1-30-14, a window appeared and required my administrative password to install the software and rightly so.  This is probably the reason why Reader was  so dysfunctional, because for whatever reason, this approval window didn't appear during the initial installations but I was allowed to install Reader anyways and the proof of it was it did end up in my Applications Folder-confusing and strange at best.  Without my administrative password the software should not have been allowed to be installed and this has always been the case. I will have to dwell upon that one for a while.  Anyway, for everyones information, the Mac version of 11.0.6 Adobe Reader doesn't ask for you to click a button to Agree or Not Agree to an EULA verbiage statement.  Just above the INSTALL BUTTON (Yellow Background)  on the installation window the instructions notes, when you hit the install button you aromatically agree to the EULA and the way you go.  I tried getting into the EULA via the Adobe the desktop Icon but to no avail.  Hopes this helps someone else.  Thanks to those at the Adobe Community that tried to help me with this mind boggling episode.

  • Enabling Comments for PDF and Acrobat Reader

    Hello,
We work with remote reviewers and oftentimes we have to enable our PDFs for commenting, since they only have Acrobat Reader. We then get the files back from our remote reviewers, review their suggestions, and then send them the PDFs back. The only main issue is that we HAVE to enable the PDFs for commenting EVERY time. Is there a better way?
    Thanks,

  • When acrobat reader opens my file it displays a warning

    Hi,
i have created a pdf file. But whenever I open that pdf file in acrobat reader it displays a warning message "File is damaged and being repaired"
and then it opens it successfully.
Can you please tell me why is that?

I think this is done by the browser when it is saving a temporary file and there's already a file with that exact name in the temp folder.

  • When will there be a plugin update for PSE 10 to read Canon cr2 files??

I bought PSE 10 and a Canon T4i, I am shooting in Raw format.
I have a Toshiba Laptop with Windows Vista
The Camera Raw Plugin is 6.7 in PSE10

Unfortunately for whatever reason adobe has not made the camera raw 7.1 plugin available to pse 10 users and adobe has never given a reason why.
I guess you could use the 7.1 DNG Converter to convert your files to dng copies which will then open in pse 10.

  • How do I get a MSI file for Acrobat Reader DC

    Hello,
This is my first time attempting something like this but I'm trying to extract an MSI file from the Acrobat Reader DC exe file in order to deploy it via GPO. I was able to extract the enterprise exe I was given using this command structure in command prompt: <path>\Acrobat_2015_Web_WWMUI.exe -nos_o"MyFolder" -nos_ne
Once everything extracted though, I'm not seeing any MSI files just another exe called AcroRd32 so I'm assuming there is another step I need to take that I'm missing somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi creativityl60376636,
MSI file can not be extracted. You can extract .exe file however there is no way to extract .msi file.

  • PDF Caching in Acrobat Reader

Is there any way to avoid caching PDFs in temporary internet files so that sensitive documents will not be accessible to a more than one person using the same machine?

All versions provide an applicaiton preference to disable chaching and auto complete, and for version of Acrobat/Reader versions 7 and above there is a doc object property that can be set using a document level JavaScipt to turnoff both auto caching and auto complete. I would also add a document level script to clear the form upon opening of the form.
You also might want to look at "security Matters" documents, http://blogs.adobe.com/security/2007/04/acrobat_and_reader_security_do.html, and Adobe Reader 7: Minimizing Exposure of Personal Information

  • Can't print "Form Fields Only" from newly-installed Acrobat Reader XI

I have created numerous forms for our agency on which our employees used (in previous versions of Acrobat Reader) the "Form Fields Only" print function. We finally got the boss to give us the OK to upgrade to Acrobat XI Pro for me, and Acrobat Reader XI for the employees. However, they open the same forms we've been using and find that they no longer have the menu option to choose "Form Fields Only" for printing purposes. I would be very grateful to anyone who might be able to steer me in the right direction as to how I resolve this issue. Unfortunately, the job does not afford me a lot of time for research and "playing" with new software, and we need to have these forms work for us by Thursday. Help, please! And Merry Christmas to everyone!

One possible workaround is to export the form data and then import it into a "blank" version of the same file, that has only the form fields. This would require using a script to export and import the data, and to create that additional version of the file for printing purposes.
Or you can put the file's contents on a non-printable layer when creating it...
