Tuner tv card for MEGA PC865 Pro

Hi!
I need help.
Somebody knows the reference for the Tuner TV card compatible with the MSI MEGA PC 865 Pro ?
I can't find it on the MSI web site.
But on the quisk start guide they speak about Leadtek card !!!!
Thanks a lot.
Mark.

i have the same $hit!
I have Mega 865 PRO and 2 TV tuners: AverMedia 509 (based on philips 7135) and MSI TV@nywhere Plus (based on philips 7131). And what do I get?
NOTHING!
In both cases when I'm using Avermedia or MSI TV@nywhere in InstantOn mode I can't use FM or TV. Anytime i try to switch on TV or FM Mega shows for a moment the proper mode on it's LED and then switchs to DVD with 'Incorrect Media type' or 'Please insert disk' message!
Of course I reinstalled InstantOn anytime I changed tv tuner. I use InstantOn CD that comes with my Mega 865 PRO and I tryed to use one from here http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/software/swr/spt_swr_list.php?kind=4, but it seems to me they are the same!
Any suggestions?
BTW: I reckon InstantOn should work without WIN XP installed?

  • Is a dedicated graphics card better than an integrated graphics card for running Logic Pro?

I am trying to figure out if a dedicated graphics card is better than an integrated graphics card for using Logic Pro. I have heard opinions supporting both. From what I have been told a Mac mini with an integrated graphics card would work just fine. I have also heard that a modest dedicated graphics card could also benefit Logic Pro. Honestly, I have heard more people saying that the integrated graphics card on the Mac mini would do the job. But still, I have heard a couple people (even 2 senior Mac experts) state that a dedicated graphics card (iMac) is the way to go. Maybe a Mac mini with integrated graphics card will do the job, but an iMac would do the job better, I don't know, if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

One thing is Logic Pro and another thing is Final Cut Pro. Logic Pro is a music production app, so it doesn't use the GPU heavily and you can use it with an integrated GPU without any problem. However, video editing apps like Final Cut Pro or iMovie will note the difference

  • Which TV-tuner card for MEGA 180

    Hello,
Just wondering which is the best tv-tuner card for the MEGA 180 which still enables the use of the original remote control.
I know the MS-8606-040 provides this but seems rather basic, the other model (MS-8606-010, TV@anywhere card) comes with its own remote control but can you use the one provided with the 180?
Any other makes which do the job?

The reason for this is the Microsoft requirement that any recording does not use more than 50% of the CPU processing time, hence I think you will find that all have a hardware MPEG2 encoder built in (that's why they are mostly the PVR versions).

  • Good wireless cards for older Mac Pros

I have a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz at work that we are trying to get online wirelessly. A couple of months ago, we bought a Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-N USB Adaptor, which was working fine until a recent update was performed. Since then, the computer crashes almost immediately if the wireless adaptor is plugged in, but runs fine when it is taken out. I am curious if anyone else has run into a similar problem when using a wireless adaptor. I also wanted to know if anyone had a recommendation for a different, reliable wireless card for an older Mac Pro.
    Thanks in advance.

I have almost the exact same situation.
Same system, a d-link wua 1340 usb wireless adaptor.
Worked fine for several weeks or so until i updated to snow leopard.
Now frequent system crashes, grey screen and the box that tells me to use the power button to shut down.
I tried going back to 10.5 and still the same problem.

  • Which New Graphic Card For 2008 Mac Pro?

I'm going to buy Final Cut X, so I'll need a new graphic card for my 2008 MacPro. My current card is an ATI Radeon HD 2600.
I asked AppleCare and they sent me a link to a lot of compatible cards (copied below).
But it turns out that most of these cards need Windows - at least according to specs - and the rest don't have the (2) DVI-D connections I need - so which card should I buy?
    The card has to work with my 2 Acer P243W 24" screens at 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz.
    Here's Apple's list:
    •    NVIDIA
    o    GeForce 320M
    o    GeForce GT 330M
    o    GeForce 9400M
    o    GeForce 9600M GT
o    GeForce 8600M GT  Note: OpenCL compatible, but does not meet system requirements for Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor.
    o    GeForce GT 120
    o    GeForce GT 130
    o    GeForce GTX 285
    o    GeForce 8800 GT
    o    GeForce 8800 GS
    o    Quadro FX 4800
    o    Quadro FX5600
    •    ATI
    o    Radeon HD 4670
    o    Radeon HD 4850
    o    Radeon HD 4870
    o    Radeon HD 5670
    o    Radeon HD 5750
    o    Radeon HD 5770

Once you look at what is sold, limits the list. None of those listed require Windows though. What specs? I don't see any specs. And of course nothing listed are Windows, that would be strange. Why you pasted notebook and iMac graphic adapters... unless Apple is selling FCPX for Windows.
Forget the GT120 though some use it with FCPX and are okay with it, save a little though I think 5770 has more processing, bandwidth and of course 1GB DDR5.
support for 6870 PC card is looking like a possible option now, too.
It is more mainly just 5770 vs 5870. Or Quadro 4000.

  • Video cards for 2008 Mac Pro with 4 20 inch Cinema Displays

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro Quad Core with 16GB RAM. I run a 4 (20 inch Mac Cinema Display) monitor configuration off of it. one of my video cards just failed. • What model of Airport Extreme Card for 2007 Mac Pro 2.6GHz

I am trying to find what model of Airport Extreme Card I need to install into my 2007 Mac Pro 2.6GHz
I understand that there is a 2008 card which is incompatible, so I don't want to buy the wrong one.
    Any help appreciated.
    Laus.

Its really confusing when Apple calls their internal wireless card on a Mac an AirPort Extreme card......and they also market an outboard wireless router called an AirPort Extreme.  See info below:
    http://www.apple.com/airport-extreme/
You posted in the support community for the Apple wireless routers.....AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule.
While it is possible that someone here might be able to answer your question, you will likely receive a much faster and more informated response if you post your question again in the support area for the Mac Pro.
The link to that support area is here:

  • Can I purchase a Thunderbolt card for my Mac Pro?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if Apple sells any Thunderbolt cards for a system which does not currently have the Thunderbolt ports on it?  Thanks!

True TB has to be part of the motherboard and not just an add on.
Take a look and see what Intel has posted about specification and technology.
You want more bandwidth? for...? storage? video? RAIDs?
What do all the add on cards you can buy and upgrade lack? that TB would add?
Name? Apple is good at giving names for tech features.
There are USB3 cards and SATA 6G. You are limited of course in the number and choice in graphic cards, and in aux power connectors.
But I don't see TB as being needed in workstation. And it won't be until PCIe 3.0 / LGA 2011 socket and new motherboards. And Intel Ivy Bridge.

  • Best graphics card for the MAC Pro 4,1

I am using the 4870 card, but, is there a better graphics card for doing photography with Adobe CS5 Extended and Lightroom 3?
    Thank you.

While recently discontinued, you can probably get your hands on an nVidia GTX 285 fairly easily. It's not only faster than your Radeon HD4870, it has double the video memory, and more importantly it's on the shortlist of cards that are support hardware acceleration of the Mercury Playback Engine in Adobe CS5. That's a HUGE feature, if you use Premiere or After Effects, it's probably worth the price of admission right there. I've got one in my machine, works wonders. Aside from a zippy system, lots of basic stuff that used to have to be rendered in order to preview no longer require it.
The nVidia Quadro FX 4800 is also a bigger/faster card, and provides even more powerful support for the Mercury Playback Engine in CS5, but it's also vastly more expensive. As I type this the price is $1799 at Apple, and $1399 most everywhere else (Apple store managers, if you're seeing this you might want to check for a price drop).
That's the current max, but it's possible that new graphics cards are right around the corner. In the spring nVidia introduced their next generation of GPU, there are a range of new GTX 4xx series cards on the mainstream line, and just last week new Quadro cards were launched for the high end. Adobe does not support either of them for CS5's Mercury Playback Engine hardware acceleration at this moment, but Adobe employees have said that it's coming in an update soon.
It's also likely that the ATI Radeon HD 5770 & Radeon HD 5870 will be released for the Mac. My understanding is that the 5770 performance is on par with your HD 4870, and the 5870 will blow it away. Both the new ATI cards also boast two mini displayport plugs as well as a DVI out. Neither card is likely going to get support for hardware acceleration in CS5 anytime soon (not really Adobe's fault, ATI are still in their infancy on the high performance/OpenCL front compared to nVidia).
My advice, if you need something now, chase down a GTX 285 and you won't be disappointed (especially in CS5). Otherwise, you may want to wait it out and jump on the next generation if/when it becomes available.
    Hope that helps!
