Tungsten E duplication calendar

Sir, Madam: I have a Palm Tungsten E. I exchange info between my PC at work and my laptop at home. Everytime I try to hotsync the message that some of the info will be duplicated. After I have to clean up all duplicated items. How do I solve this issue? Thank you!!

Can I individually sync two Tungstens E's, calendar and contacts using only one computer? If so, how?? I spent two hours this am with the live chat who totally destroyed my info. I appreciate the help.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.....I have two Palms and 1 computer.........In the Palm software, on the calendar I have both names. Is there a way to sync these seperatly with each Palm?........What are you meaning when you say two usernames? Thanks for the help.....

Problem re-installing my BlackBerry email account

I deleted all of my email accounts and their associated calendars off my Curve 8520 at the weekend to remedy a multiple duplication calendar prolblem with my Gmail account. I can easily re-install my Gmail and Hotmail accounts but cannot reinstall my BlackBerry email account. My carrier is Virgin Mobile.
Surely this is the same process as transferring your BB email account from an old device to a new one? So I would have thought there must be an easy way of doing this, but it appears that I am wrong, especially after spending a happy hour on the phone to the Virgin Support Centre last night with no success!!
Any help would be really appreciated.

I have pretty much fixed this with assistance from my carrier, but I did not get my calendar or email messages back - but I did get my access to calendar and email back!

Starting over after Hotsync User ID being changed without input from me!

I posted the following message in the Hotsynch section of these forums on Jan 1 and have not yet had an answer; since then the situation has changed, but I want to provide the original circumstances as background:
As far as I know -- with evidence in my data directories -- when I got my Tungsten I set it up with the user name "Wendy". A couple of days ago, when I got a handheld software registration code based on giving that to the software vendor as my user name, it would not work. When I investigated I found that the Hotsync User ID in my desktop software was "2008". Today, New Year's day, when I went to open another desktop component, SplashID, I found that all the data was gone. Lo and behold, when I went to do a restore, I found data folders for Wendy, 2008, and 2009! I then looked at the Palm desktop app and found that the Hotsync User ID there is now "2009"! Why is this happening and what can I do to nail down the user ID that I want?
Please note that I have also been suffering from periodic loss of my non-recurring calendar data. It seems to occur whenever an overnight Windows update takes place that causes my computer to reboot. Using the advice given in the posts responding to my previous message in these help forums, I have -- so far -- always been able to restore the data. I do not recall whether this and the change of hotsync user name started at the same time.
When I got no answer on the forum by the afternoon of Jan2, I sought help viaPalm's online chat. The person who helped me was very patient given the profusion and confusion of user names/IDs but ultimately when I had followed his instructions re deleting Palm Desktop 6.2.2, reinstalling it and synching, the synch just hangs on the databook synch. Since then I have done a clean uninstall according to the instructions for clean Vista uninstalls posted by cygnusX1 on 12-30-2008 04:06 PM in the thread "Syncs fine -- missing all data in Desktop App". The only thing that I did differently was to use the Windows uninstall process before I started manual deletions.
My current situation: I have no Palm Desktop software installed on my Vista PC although the desktop versions of some -- but not all of other Palm apps still work. I have a backup of the "Wendy" directory with Palm data stored on my Windows desktop. I have a Tungsten E2 with calendar, addressbook, memos, todos and data from two of the Splash apps and Diet Assistant. The current name on the handheld is "2008". I would like to end up with a Palm desktop and handheld with user name "Wendy". Any advice on how to proceed to that point with minimal data loss would be appreciated..

Regarding your "Wendy" backup, is this a backup from a version of Palm desktop prior to using Palm desktop 6.2? If it is, you will need to install the version you used with the "Wendy" username. After the install, copy the username folder into the Palm folder in c-programs-palm. Open Palm desktop and see if the data is there. If you are still having a problem, create the username "Wendy" in Palm desktop, delete the username on the handheld and then when you sync it will ask for the username to sync with, select "Wendy" and continue the sync.
You can erase the username on your handheld using the procedure in the following link;

After you go through this procedure, tap on hotsync on the handheld and in the upper right corner is the username assigned to the handheld. If the delete procedure was done correctly, there will be no username in the upper right corner. You can then sync to to Palm desktop and select the username to sync to.
If you have the data on the handheld, you may want to install Palm desktop, create the "Wendy" username in Palm desktop, erase the username on the handheld and then sync to Palm desktop.

Contact and Calendar Duplications, sync and more issues!

I have the iPhone 4S. I decided to activate the iCloud on my phone through to iCloud and to my Windows PC laptop. However, this caused all my calendar entries to duplicate and I had to manually delete the duplications on my Outlook Calendar so that it would not show up in any of the other devices.
I also ended up losing a lot of contacts - they all started merging!
I managed to fix all of this by painfully having to manually delete calendar entries and manually editing contact information but there is still a number of outstanding probelms:
1. Contacts - the prefix for e-mail addresses (i.e home, work etc) now all show as e-mail (rather than home, work etc). I had to manually change them all so it synced correctly in all the relevant devices (PC Laptop, iphone 4S and iCloud). However, after manually changing the e-mail prefix in my PC laptop nothing is reflecting on my 4S nor in the Cloud. iCloud is definitely working as things are syncing, it is just not dealing with all the format changes.
2. When I change/edit an existing contact or add a new contact record via my 4S - Outlook will then show that record by last name, first name (all my settings in all devices are set to First Name, Last Name). This is getting really frustrating!
3. Contacts - following on from point 1. If I make a change to an existing contact the e-mail prefix (which I had to change manually to reflect home, work etc) reverts back to showing as "e-mail" rather than stating if it's actually the contact's home or work e-mail address!!?!.
4. I also have an iPad 2 but have not set up the iCloud just yet. To avoid the duplication and loss of contacts experience all over again. Can someone give some advice on how I can ensure iCloud is set up correctly so that my iPad 2, iPhone 4S and PC Laptop all sync via the iCloud without any issues?
5. How do I carry out out a software update on my iPhone 4S given that everything syncs through the iCloud i.e. no longer have to connect my 4S to the laptop? Does this happen automatically through iCloud? I was concerned about connecting my 4S via the USB lead to my laptop which would then start a sync process and possibly duplicating everything?

Nope, Thunderbird is a client program, so is your phone. Software that tries to sync clients invariably is the cause of drama because sync is truly very difficult to program successfully and free apps from phone vendors are not quality products and almost invariably support one program and one version of that program.
So using a third party server is the correct approach. If syncing Google contact to a phone causes issues, that is more than likely the sync software used not an inherent problem with the process.

Why do I get duplication of Contacts and Calendar events.

I just purchased the Iphone 3GS and have a problem with duplication of calendar events AND contacts.
I "THINK" the problem is that I set it up to syn with mobile me and also perhaps with my itunes when I connect it for ringtones, video's, music, etc.
For example under contacts, I have a section called "From my Mac" and one "my xxx@mac (mobile me)
I think this is where it comes from.
Any help on explaining this and what to do without screwing my system up, would be GREATLY appreciated.

Up to a week ago I'd been using my Outlook calendar to synch to the iPhone. Last week I set up a Google calendar and synched that with Outlook and in turn with the phone - so I got two lots of everything appearing in my phone calendar, and opted for just one to show.
As mine both had identical information in (as they came from the same source) there was little point my having the Google calendar synched to the phone, it was more an excercise of checking what would happen.
I have a choice of either of the calendars to show through, or both - and if I choose both naturally there are double entries.
I assume what you have done is the same.
So for the calendar just decide which of the two you want to be the one that shows through on the iPhone.
I don't have duplicate contacts though.

Sync Duplication of Contacts and Calendars

I am having duplication issues with Contacts and Calendars. I tried getting iPhone (via iTunes), iCal and Google Calendar to sync up but strange anomalies took hold such as conflicting dates. So I bought Spanning Sync. This promised to eradicate and "robust up" my syncing. Now the problem is that all of my contacts on the iPhone appear twice many of my calendar entries appear twice too. Very annoying. I'm predicting responses like "3rd party software makes it hard to diagnose", but I did try with Mac and Google on their own but they wouldn't work.
I have since checked and unchecked all the boxes in iTunes (related to iPhone syncing) and re-synced but to no avail.
Hoping someone has experience of something similar and a solution!

Duplication of calendars with MobileMe

Hello, thanks for taking the time to read my question.
Problem. I'm having trouble with controlling calendars on my iPhone, I have duplications of whole calendars and can't seem to fathom how to remove them without losing data. Occasionally I create an event on the iPhone and I expect it to sync using MobileMe but as I've accidentally created the event on the "On My iPhone" versions of the calendars and they aren't synced. On the Info tab in iTunes I am not syncing any calendars.
Background. My iPhone is synced to an iMac however expressly for a long overseas trip I purchased MobileMe and a MacBook Pro to take with me. The iTunes library was copied across as a whole from the iMac to the MBP and synced from that for few months over the winter. I'm not back to using the iMac as primary. As I mentioned neither on the iMac or MBP am I syncing any calendars on the Info tab in iTunes although originally I did use this calendar syncing on the iMac when I first purchased the phone.
Surely I can remove the "On My iPhone" calendars and just have the calendars synced via MobileMe?

You're welcome.
In case you aren't aware, prior to firmware version 3.0 it was possible to sync contacts and calendar events over the air with an Exchange account and/or with a MobileMe account or direct with a supported application on your computer. You could do one or the other, not both at the same time.
This was added primarily for those accessing an Exchange account with their iPhone who also wanted to sync personal contacts and calendar events with a supported application via the iTunes sync process on their personal computer at home. When doing so, business contacts and calendar events synced over the air with the Exchange server are kept separate from personal contacts and calendar events synced direct via the iTunes sync process with a personal computer. You can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately.
When doing the same with a MobileMe account, this does nothing but duplicate the contacts and calendars events on your iPhone.

Is there a way to recover purged calendar files for Tungsten T5?

I accidently purged 2 months of calendar files from my Tungsten T5 a few days ago. The kicker to this scenario is I hotsynced my PDA 2 months ago. I did not check the "save archive on pc" in the dialog box. Is there a way to recover the deleted calendar records?

I take it that the calendar data is also not in Palm DT any longer? Have you synced more then once? There is a backup made automatically in the Palm software; but it would be overwritten if you have synced more then once.
If your data is not on the device, or in Palm DT software, and you have synced more then once, there would not be any way to recover your data unless your computer has been backed up at some point within the 2 months.

Importing contacts, calendar, etc from Palm Tungsten E2 to iphone 6

Does anyone know how to import the contacts, calendar, to do list, etc from a Palm Tungsten E2 into an iPhone 6?

I tried to sync through outlook as the instructions said but had problems with installing outlook on the XP machine, had problems with the Palm software on my Windows 7 machine, etc. Spent lots of hours trying to get this to work but I think most of the problems were due to issues with my 2 different computers. Finally found out about CompanionLink. Installed that software on my XP machine since that is where my Palm Desktop resides. Had to add the app DejaOffice on my I-Phone. Synced the 2 together and everything was transferred onto my phone in the Dejaoffice app. All calendar and contact information was also synced into the I-phone calendar and contact list. The only thing I will have to copy and paste are the reminders and other notes into the phone reminders and notes and then I should be able to delete the DejaOffice app. The companionlink software is usually 49.95 to purchase but you can download a trial version for 14 days which works just fine. It took a total of about 25 minutes to download and sync my Palm and phone and I had previously spent at least 8 hours trying to get things to work. So frustrating. But thank you for at least offering some help.

Outlook will not sync all my Tungsten E2 Calendar

I believe I've read every post about syncing Palm to Outlook but have yet to find the answer to my problem.
After updating my Palm software and installing the appropriate Palm conduits, I still can't get MS Outlook to sync my entire calendar from my Tungsten E2. (Only some appointments (mostly recurring) before 2007 appear.) I just get the following log message:

Please please help! I'm a tecnology lightweight and don't know how to handle this any further. I'm afraid that installing Pocket Mirror will only create further damage/confusion to my desktop. Also, I simply can't go in and re-tool every appointment in my handheld just to sync with Outlook.

Duplication of Calendars

On my phone, when I chose all calendars, it shows things twice. It shows my MobileMe and iMac computer calendars. If I choose just the iMac or MobileMe everything is ok. Is that how it's supposed to work? Seems odd...I would think it would recognize the duplication and rectify it automatically??? Help?! Thanks!
