Tuning WLS 11g hardware configuration.

Hi all,
we have to create a test WLS 10.3.1 environment and, at the beginning, we will deploy only 1 application for at least 25 users in a LAN, but the number of application and users should grow in the future.
Is there a way to set my hardware (first one and future) configuration (single server, cluster, O.S.,...) ?
Does the minimal configuration suggested by Oracle Install Guide reply to my needs?
Thank you.

Well, I think there is not strange changes from 10.3 to 10.3.1, there are some specific changes to support the OFM line.

  • Hardware configuration planning

We are migrating from Stellent 7.5.1 to UCM 11g and doing h/w capacity planning for new version. Want to know what are the parameters to do the capacity planning.
    We are assuming:
    - 200 concurrent users in 1 min, with the capacity to upload 5-8 mb of file upload by every user.
    - The uploaded document gets converted in to PDF and webviewable format.
    - The repository size of 1.5 TB with growth rate of 100 gb per quarter.
Is there a way/calculation mechanism/tool helps to analyse the capacity of production server hardware configuration with the above mentioned usage and scenarios.
What is the Oracle's minimum and recommended h/w configuration for a UCM11g.
    Thanks

    - The repository size of 1.5 TB with growth rate of 100 gb per quarter. In order to calculate the sizing more precisely you need to estimate also
    a) how many pages an approximate user will see (e.g. per minute) - this estimates UI activity
    b) how many checkins will occur (e.g. per minute) - is the 5-8 mb one bigger file or several smaller files?
As a rule of thumb (if you don't know anything better), you may calculate that one license CPU can serve approx. 500 users, if their requirements do not contain anything special.
In your particular case, it will be desirable to separate conversions; that is, install IBR on separate servers. With 200 docs of size 5-8 MB per minute (I used the available benchmark 10MB), the calculation sheet gives me the estimate of 195(!) Conversion Servers (if I used the other closest available benchmark, it gives me 20 CSs, so expect to be somewhere in between).
Anyway, one thing is obvious: your project will be about mastering conversions.

  • A reasonable hardware configuration for Linux OAS

Has anyone out there tried to run
Oracle 8 for Linux and OAS 3.02
all on the same toasted PC/pentium server?
Could you tell me the nature of your
hardware configuration (processor speed, ram, etc)
if you feel the performance is acceptable for
development (not for actual business operation).
The technical FAQ lists 48 megs and any
Pentium to run Oracle 8 for Linux which
    verges on ridiculously low.
I just want to know a reasonable
configuration to run both Oracle 8 and OAS .
    Thanks,

    I have been runnig OAS/O8 on a Pii/300Mhz system with 128mb of
ram, and so far I have no real complaints on speed. I even tuned
the SGA to give a little better performance and still have around
40 or so MB free. BTW, I haven't really tried to mess around
with the Linux version of OAS, but have used the Solaris version
previously, have you noticed any problems with the wrb starting
up? I have seen some error messages saying "No processes..." or
something, looks like an error.. have you experienced this?

  • Problems in Sending Data through JMS Bridge - WLS 10.3 to WLS 11g

I have a scenario where I need to send data from a queue configured on WLS 10.3 to WLS 11g. I am using OSB on WLS 10.3.
    What I have done is
    1. Created a JMS Based BS in OSB which sends data to jms://localhost:7001/ConnFactoryJNDI/QueueJNDI
    2. Created a JMS Bridge on WLS 10.3
    3. Source Destination has been configured as the one mentioned above.
    4. Target Destination has been configured to a queue on WLS 11g.
When i execute the JMS Based BS in OSB, data is being written to the Source Queue directly. I am not sure of the JMS Bridge functionality but I assume that once data is written to the Source Destination, that data will be automatically pushed on the target destination.
I have configured a JDBC store for the target queue but I no table is created with the data sent from the source.
    M i missing something here?

I think this question belongs to weblogic server, but as far as I know bridge should be created always at higher version. means, you should create bridge at 11g and try to pull/drop data from 10g. To check any errors in bridge, check the server log and make sure status of bridge is "forwarding messages"

    HI,
For your home testing you might need a latest technology to get a smooth and fast installation. i7 processor might be the ideal with memory at least 8GB. if you're planning to have more than 3 VMs running at the same time than you need 12-16GB memory at least.
From my experience installing on vm and allocated memory 2.5GB each VM the installation could take 15-30minutes

  • WLS 11g course not available in UK yet, is 10gR3 course OK instead?

I am trying to get to grips with Weblogic 11g as part of the FMW 11g tech stack and would like to go on a WLS Administration Essentials course.
Unfortunately there isn't an 11g course available in the UK yet, just the 10gR3 one. (For some strange reason my company won't agree to fly me to the USA to attend one there!)
As 11g is really only 10.3.1 I was thinking that the 10gR3 course would still be useful and give me a good grounding in WLS install, configuration and administration.
Am I correct or has a lot changed in WLS 11g?
    Any thoughts?

  • Hardware Configuration in MAX when not logged in as Administrator

I am attempting to load a .cfg file for a VME device through the Hardware Configuration option on MAX.  When you are not logged in as an administrator, the option is greyed out.  I do not have the option of always running this as an administrator.  However, I can set special permissions on certain folders or registry keys if necessary to allow non-administrators access to those locations in order to get the hardware configuration to work in MAX.
Does anybody know what special permissions would need to be set?

    Hi Pual,
What operating system are you using? I’m not sure if there are additional specific files or registry keys, but could you give your use full control over the Measurement and Automation Explorer program?  Let me know if you can test that out.

  • What is the reason that the integrated camera does not exist in the hardware configuration?

When I start Face Time, my integrated camera doesn't work.
I check my hardware configuration, but, the camera doesn't exist.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Does it happen with other applications that use the camera, like Photo Booth? If so, I recommend you to reset the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 Then, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
After resetting the SMC, start the iMac and see if you can use your camera. If not, hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting and reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
If it doesn't work, it's a hardware issue, so make a backup of your data and take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller

  • OIM 11g Server Configuration Wizard Error - Cannot Connect to Oracle DB

I appreciate any and all suggestions or thoughts on how to best continue troubleshooting this error that I am describing below.
I am attempting to install Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite 11g on a Windows 7 machine…in following the installation guides I have successfully installed the following Oracle Components
    - Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0
    - Created Schemas using RCU 11.1.1.3.3
    - Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.3.0
    - Oracle SOA 11.1.1.2.0
    - Oracle SOA 11.1.1.3.0 (Patch Set)
    - Oracle IAM SUITE 11.1.1.3.0
Following the above installations, I created a new WebLogic Domain and as the next step am running the OIM Configuration Wizard to configure the OIM Server, however I am unable to setup a connection to the Oracle DB via the OIM Configuration Wizard. I am getting an error message when attempting to setup the connection to the Oracle Database using the OIM 11g Server Configuration Wizard:
    ERROR:*
INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
*+[DETAILS] Check the values. Make sure the Database is up and running and connect string, user name, and password are correct.+*
INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
*+[DETAILS] Check the values. Make sure the Database is up and running and connect string, user name, and password are correct.+*
When installing the Oracle Database 11gR2 I used the following install configuration:
    Oracle base: C:\MyApps\Oracle
    Software location: C:\MyApps\Oracle\DB_HOME\11.2.0\dbhome_1
    Database file location: C:\MyApps\Oracle\DB_HOME\oradata
Database Edition: Personal Edition (3.27 GB)
    Character Set: Unicode (AL32UTF8)
    Global database name: orcl.dev.com
    Administrative Password: Password1
    Confirm Password: Password1
When creating my Schemas using RCU 11.1.1.3.3 I used the following Database Connection Details
    DB TYPE: Oracle Database
    HOST NAME: localhost
    PORT: 1521
    SERVICE NAME: orcl.dev.com
    USERNAME: sys
    PASSWORD: Password1
    ROLE: SYSDBA
I used a Prefix of “DEV” when creating the schemas so Schema Owners DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS where created. Also, I configured to use the same password for all Schemas: “Password1″. So the password for DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS should be the same, “Password1″.
    REPRODUCING THE ERROR
To reproduce the error, when I launch the Oracle Identity Management 11g Configuration Wizard I am first brought to the “Welcome” Screen. I click the [Next>] button.
Next, I am on the “Components to Configure” screen where I select OIM Server and OIM Design Console and click the [Next>] button. (NOTE I have also tested by simply selecting only the OIM Server)
Next, I am on the “Database” screen where I enter the connection information
    Connection String: localhost:1521:orcl.dev.com
(NOTE I have also tested using localhost:1521:orcl)
    OIM Schema User Name: DEV_OIM
    OIM Schema Password: Password1
    MDS Schema User Name: DEV_MDS
    MDS Schema Password: Password1
When I click the [Next>] button after entering the Database Connection details I encounter the following two errors (1 error for each logon DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS)
INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    TROUBLESHOOTING

Whenever installing oracle databases, i install the software only first. Then i setup the listener. Then i create a database instance using the dbca tool. This way all the information is added to the pre-existing listener configurations rather than trying to create the listener afterwards. Also, during the dbca database creation, i supply a full service name such as orcl.hostname and use the service name in future configurations where it asked. This usually solves any issues of the listener or database not being found correctly.

  • How to include hardware configuration in the installer?

I have a VI developed with LabVIEW 2009 V9.0f2 using a USB-6009 and two of its analog inputs.  The VI uses the DAQ Assistant to configure the USB-6009.  I include the DAQmx Core Runtime 9.0.2 with the LabVIEW Runtime Engine 2009 in the installer build.  I spent most of the past week trying to get the application to run after installation.
If I leave out the Hardware Configuration from MAX (no configData.nce file) and run the installer on another machine the application produces an Error-200378 Custom Scale Specified Does Not Exist  when it runs (I searched the 200378 error code - no help).
If I include the Hardware Configuration from MAX to produce a configData.nce file, and select Perform the Import Silently to Merge the Import Data when the installer is built, I get this message during the install to another computer:
.\Distribution.cpp(1902): IInstallerError 11004Developer Error. Distribution contains invalid dependencies:1. I’m not really sure that the installer even uses the configData.nce file during the build.
Another error I have seen (I have done several other builds using various installer settings)  is that the app appears to run fine except it is unable to find the USB-6009, even though the operating system picks it up and installs it in the device manager seemingly without error.
I am a novice LabVIEW user.  Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hardware Configuration tab doesn't show Vlan Configuration of VM

In SCVMM 2012 R2 I can go into the properties of a VM and set the VLAN and it saves and correctly sets the VLAN on the machine.
If I then go back into the properties the VLAN option is unchecked.  If I make a change to any other setting and save it then removes the VLAN from the machine, disconnecting it.
On SCVMM 2012 SP1 it worked fine, on SCVMM 2012 R2 the Hardware configuration is always missing the VLAN information.
Can somebody else confirm that they are having the same issue with SCVMM 2012 R2?

Yes - I confirm that I am having the same/similar issue with SCVMM 2012 r2. In my case, I am trying to assign a different VLAN after deployment. In SCVMM, I don't see the existing VLAN information, however, VLAN ID is correct on HyperV Manager. If I change
the VLAN ID, the change reflects in the VM however it will be missing on SCVMM.  Seems like a bug. I am also opening a case with Microsoft support.

  • Steve Muenchs "Dynamic JDBC" on WLS 11g (10.3.1)?

    Hi,
I try to run Steves Example "11g Dynamic JDBC Credentials for Model 1, Struts, Trinidad, and ADF Faces Rich Client" on Standalone WLS 11g (10.3.1) but it doesn't works... on integrated WLS it runs without problems. The WLS-Log shows:

Message:     Failed to create config mbean.
details: java.lang.Exception: oracle.mds.core.MetadataNotFoundException: MDS-00013: No Metadate for Metaobject "/META-INF/adf-config.xml" found.
Does somebody have the example to run brought? Or if new settings are necessary for the example on WLS 11g?
    Kind regards

    Hi,
since Steve's solution has nothing to do with the adf-config, I suggest you create a simple testcase that reproduces the problem. It appears as if the ADF binding is not set up properly

  • 64-bit WLS 11G for Solaris?

I can not locate the 64-bit version of WLS 11G for Solaris. When I go to the download page all I see are 32-bit versions (at least they look like 32-bit version as denoted by the filenames such as wls1031_solaris32.bin).
I have attempted to go through the e-delivery site but do not want to download a 21 part 11Gig file if it is not the correct one.
I would appreciate any help at all.

I am pretty confident that you need the 64 bit JVM for your platform, then you need to use the generic installer, this is based on how it has been done in prior releases.
So you can find the available JVM's for your platform here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle%20fusion%20middleware%2011gr1%20(11%201%201%201%200)%20certification%20matrix.xls
In this case that would be Sun JVM 1.6.0_11+
    OR
    JRockit 6 Update 5 R27.6.2+
Then you should be able to run the generic installer here with that downloaded supported JDK:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/wls_main.html
I was not able to find anything specific on the documentation pages that described this process in detail, but you can always open a support case to get some assistance. I will check with the documentation team to see if that is going to be documented or already is.
If you look at the 10gR3 releases, it shows how the generic installer is used, for example:
