Turbo Sim
Another post related to my previous post, but what are your views on the 'Turbo Sim'? Does it invalidate warranty if found to be used etc?
Thing is, I've used that in my 6500 slide and it worked perfectly. It's when I updated the software (with that trnbo sim still in there) that my problems started. I think (although I still need to check), that a 3 sim (the original network the phone is locked to) will still work in the phone whereas there is no reception on my other sim.
Could the new update have something in it that see's past the turbo sim and renders it useless? It doesnt give a sim error though.
Unfortunately, you'll find that that that's not something that we can really discuss here in the Apple Forums without violating the terms of use of the forum (as you ran across in your other query).
Googling, Wikipedia or searching sites like Gizmodo will give you a pretty good idea on your question, though.

You have hacked your phone with Turbo SIM. You cannot get any help here for hacked phones. Contact the place/person who sold you the SIM. Surely, they have support services, don't they?

This is so unfortunate. Holmdel, I would also report this to Apple to have it on record.
You can make Apple aware of this at: http://apple.com/feedback/iphone.html, and in the meantime you'll have to use AssistiveTouch. Hopefully when more people come forward, they will fix this bug in the next update. -

Only the carrier an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking. So, you need to contact the carrier your phone is locked to to see if they offer unlocking & what the cost/procedure is, & if you qualify.
There is no other way to get any iPhone officially unlocked. -

im using unlock iphone with turbo sim card. i update my iphone to the new version IOS 5 and some bug were found. so, i restore my iphone to standard iphone. but, my iphone can not connect to itunes anymore, it said that the SIMcard inserted does not appear to be supported. so. i can't continue restoring my iphone. what do i need to do??? can anyone help me....You need a SIM from the original carrier.

I got my unlocked iphone 4s from Apple store. It works in most of the countries I travel to, but in some it keeps showing a 'Searching' signal! I had to buy a turbo sim for it to work! Is the problem from my 4s or the sim? an why this is happening?
To my best knowledge turbo sim does not hack a phone. I have not used it to unlock the phone, i have already bought it unlocked. Am pretty sure its not an issue with my iphone, I have been using it normally all around the countires I have been to, till i faced the mentioned problem in one country and they fixed it by using a turbo sim. Now that I have left the country, am back to using my 4s without the turbo sim and it's working perfectly fine.

I am having Iphone 4s turbo sim unlocked . if i reset the network setting of my phone will it go locked again?
if your phone is legitimately unlocked it will not relock. If you hacked your phone to unlock it, you should disclose this to the potential buyer.

I have recently brought a 6500 locked to three, used a turbo sim to use 02, it worked fine, went to upgrade the firmware (now on 9,6), and now it has no signal when using My 02 sim with the turbosim. However, with a Three sim it works perfectly. The 02 sim is accessible, allcontacts can be found. And it works fine in another phone accompanied by the turbosim.
I have tried seeting the carried moad just to GSM, but with no help, I have also tried updating the phone again with just a Three sim in, with no luck.
All out of ideas now, anyone help? Thanks alotNokia have blocked users from using TurboSIM etc to use. So your only option would be to ask three to give u unlcoking code and they will charge you for it £15 - £30

Turbo SIMS are not supported.
Get a real SIM card that does not try to circumvent the carrier lock on the device. -

If you have an iPhone that is locked to a specific cell carrier, only that carrier can officially authorize an unlock.

Sim cards are free at your local Corporate VzW store or by contacting Customer Service.

i would like someone to please explain a little about a sim card and its uses with the iphone 3g. does it come with one or is this something that is purchased seperatly. I dont know the purpose of this and if it has anything to do with speed. thank you for all your help in advance. i am new to the forum and dont know if the reply will come back to me but if not my address is [email protected]The SIM card is merely what GSM phones use to be identified on the cellular network. Some phones are able to store contacts directly to the SIM card so that you can swap it out more easily when you upgrade (the iPhone doesn't).
The iPhone comes with a SIM already inside it. -
US owners traveling to UK, can I swap the sim card while I'm there?
I am thinking about getting an Iphone but I have one lingering question... I travel a fair amount to the UK, normally when I go I just swap out my sim card for a UK pay-as-you-go sim card, which is much cheaper than international roaming... Will I be able to do this with the Iphone or does the ATT exclusive contract say that I can't?

You can use Turbo SIM with your locked iPhone 3G.
TurboSIM fools your iPhone into thinking you're using an AT&T SIM when you're not. -

As stated ONLY the carrier can unlock it. AT&T now offers unlocking, however, from everything that's available so far, you must be an AT&T customer and have either completed your contract, paid the early termination fee, or purchased a no-commitment phone. If you are not an AT&T customer, it's unlikely they will unlock it for you.
