Turbo tax on MAC

Downloaded turbo tax onto my MAC and worked fine until I tried to download state tax forms. error message says cant install because of lack of athurtorty. Iam logged on as addmin. Any others have this problem?

I had a big problem using TT on my Mac two years ago, lots of incompatibility issues, when I spoke with their tech support and, was trying to trouble shoot my issues he was speaking to me in Windows terminology, I had to stop him about two or three time and explain to him that I was running Tiger and
not Windows XP. It took him a few minutes to come to the realization that he was clueless.
Needless to say I never found anybody on their end who could talk OS X , the end result is I fixed the problem myself and the fallowing year, my TT was completely free.
This year I just used the browser based just to be on the safe side.
I'm willing to lay the odds , if your running Snow Leopard TT is not up to speed...
Nevertheless I hope you get it worked out and, sorry I could not be of any help

  • I can not find Turbo Tax files on my Mac

    My files have disappeared:(
I am trying to do my taxes on my IMac, as I did last year, but all the Data files have misteriously disappeared.  I have performed several spotlight searches.  I have searched for files ending .tax, I have searched my application, I have done everything I can think of, but all the files are gone!  We don't use the computer all that often other then to surf net.  I have looked under all user accounts and as adminstrator.  Any Ideas? Per the Turbo Tax it should be saved in the Documents Section. But it is not there.

    FindAnyFile
"This is a free program for Mac OS 10.4 and later that lets you search for files on your disks, primarily on HFS formatted ones."
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
FindAnyFile allows you to search for all files on your harddrive. Do the search from an administrator account. Hold down the option key then click on return.
You should have all your important information backup ( a second copy of ).  Get a flash drive, external hd, or copy to cd/dvd.  post a new question about backing up your machine.  How much do you wish to spend $10 to $150.

  • My mac wont recognize turbo tax cd to load

I purchased turbo tax and tried to load the CD and the mac tries to read the CD but then justs ejects it. Is there a fix?

Does your drive work with other discs?  If this is the only one that won't play/load, then the disc may be faulty.  If other discs do the same, you nay have a drive issue.
If it is just this disc (and I assume it says the version they have sent you is Mac compatible, and compatible with the version of OSX you are using), then check to see if the disc is visibly damaged or marked.
If compatible with your Mac and OSX, I would contact Intuit.  The TurboTax website has a technical support section.

  • HT1444 how do I upgrade from Mac OS 10.5.8 to later versions so new software like turbo tax will work

how do I upgrade from Mac OS 10.5.8 to later versions so new software like turbo tax will work?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)

  • Why wont Turbo Tax 2012 run on my mac?

Why wont Turbo Tax 2012 run on my Intel Mac running OS10.6.8?
    My Mac:
       Intel Core Duo
       OS 10.6.8
       2GHz processor
Box and online specs indicate it should work but it does not...
    Can Anyone help...

    Hi eston,
well, the bad news for you is that the specs do indicate that it will not run on your computer.
    Why, you ask.
If you look at the TurboTax 2012 specs for Mac, it states that for Mac OS X 10.6.8, one needs to run 64-bit.
from Intuit site, TurboTax Deluxe 2012 computer requirements  (http://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/deluxe.jsp):
    Processor:Intel-based Processor
    Operating System:
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later
Mac OS X v10.7.5 or later
Mac OS X v10.8.0 or later
Note: 64-bit required for Mac OS 10.6.8
the "64-bit required" link takes one to the Apple kb page....
    My Mac:
       Intel Core Duo
       OS 10.6.8
       2GHz processor
your spec list above states that you have an Intel Core Duo.  The Apple kb article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3696)  shows a list of which processors are 64-bit and which are 32-bit.  Unfortunately for you, the Intel Core Duo is 32-bit.  This is why TurboTax 2012 will not run on this computer.
The next processor, Intel Core 2 Duo, is 64-bit, as are the later Xeon and "i" series.
    cheers, and good luck,
    Roy

  • I'm not familiar with MAC's.  Trying to insert turbo tax cd into my Dad's Mac OS X version 10.5.8 but it won't go in/stay.  Help please!

I am not familiar with MAC's.  I am trying to insert Turbo Tax CD into my Dad's Mac.  But, the CD will not go in/stay in.  Need some help with this, anyone have an answer?  I would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks!

Confused: You say nothing will "catch" in the slot, which I take to mean the optical drive won't accept anything. Just spits it out. Then you say you thought there was an eject button to push, which would imply there's a stuck disc inside.
If it's the latter, try holding down the mouse while booting.

  • Turbo Tax Conversion from Windows to Mac possible?

Does any one know if you can export from Windows and import to Mac OS X old Turbo Tax files? I have been using Windows based software the past few years and want to use Mac now, Is there come conversion program? I see nothing on their website.

    James
You can import from either back and fourth. Also, you can do the taxes on one system and open it in the other. I had my sons do there taxes on the Windows computer on a trial windows version that came with my Mac version and send it to back me in email when they were done. I was able to open the files directly on my Mac and work with it as if it were done on my computer. I also sent them the previous year's file so they could import the info on their computer to do their taxes. No problems on either side.

  • My mac mini won't read or load Turbo Tax 2012 cd.

My Mac mini will not read or load the CD for TurboTax 2012.  Any suggestions?

Just ran into this Turbo Tax 2012 requirement with a friend's 2008 iMac running 10.5.8. She only had 1GB memory in the iMac, which is the Snow Leopard minimum requirement.
After full install of 10.6.3, and (free) software updates, it was a 10.6.8 machine. With just the operating system running, there was 300 MB of the 1 GB memory remaining. Turbo Tax 2012 requires 512 MB of memory, and until the memory was upgraded on this machine, Turbo Tax was erratic due to limited memory. Upgraded to 4GB of memory and the both the iMac and Turbo Tax performance improved substantially.

  • Turbo Tax For windows and Mac - OK to use on Core Intel iMac??

Won't be long before taxes are due! ..My wife bought Turbo Tax at Costco and I'm hoping that it's ok to use on our new Intel iMac. Have any of you loaded this on your iMacs? Any problems??
    Thx,
    Syd123

I also bought TurboTax at Costco, and used it without any problems on my iMac Core Duo. I was a little bit concerned because others on Intuit's support forum have reported that they're unable to get the version purchased at Costco to update, but everything went smoothy.
Now just waiting for my refund!

  • How to get older versions of Turbo Tax to run on Mountain lion

I've been using Turbo Tax for my taxes for the last 13 years and today I had occasion to open up an old one 2003 to look for a form.
Unfortunately it wouldn't open up I  got this message   " You can’t open the application “TurboTax 2003” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported"
Any suggestions as to how I can get to my forms.?

you can't open a program that old on a mac running 10.7 or higher.  If your mac came with 10.6 or prior, you can run that in a virtual machine and open the forms with that version of TT.

Look on the specifications of Turbo Tax, personnaly I use the online verison, much easier, nothing to install and deadly fast. Also no updates you have to deal with constantly with the disc version.

  • How do you install Turbo Tax

This is the first year I will be using Turbo Tax on an Apple-anything I should know in advance?

I just installed TT Deluxe today, it was my first time using TT on a Mac too. It couldn't have been easier, it installed in minutes, checked for (and installed) updates and I was off.
Nothing to worry about from what I can tell.
