Turkish characters in Bex reports

Hello Experts,
I have a problem viewing Turkish characters in Bex reports. In place of Turkish characters I get some invaild characters. This problem is only with Bex reporting (Via excel).
Web reporting, RSRT (Bex) everywhere it is showing properly, only in Bex (via excel) I am having this problem.
I checked for OSS too, but not much help.
Any help is appriciated.
Thanks
VJ

Hello Green,
we have solved our problem. Actually we have written to SAP and they said that currently with Bex (EXCEL only) may not support all the characters. So they asked us to 1) install SAP GUI Patch version 44 logon as english and
2) Windows -> Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Settings
Select Turkish on the first Drop Down Box, on the tab Regional Options as well as on the Advanced options. Then the specified characters as well as the English characters will display properly
This worked for us....
hope this helps

  • Error in display of Turkish Characters in BEx Report

    Hi Experts,
    I am facing an issue while running one of reports in BEx in place of Turkish Characters i am getting  #.whereas same report if run over Web is giving Turkish characters showing "I" in place of #.
    Please provide any pointers on this.
    Thanks
    Nilesh

    As mentioned above - check the OSS notes - this problem is one of the main reasons for upgrading a BEx front end to 7 or moving to the web
    However there is a workaround - you can broadcast queries in xls format and email them - this gets around the problem - but no user interaction is possible and you cannot format the xls (is you wanted to format the xls you would use the precalc service but this then would turn the characters back into #)

  • Reg: Turkish characters issue on BW 3.10 Bex level and RSRT

    Hi,
    We are facing the same problem with the turkish characters, Our system is BW 3.10 (3.30 Cont) and ECC 6.0. The turkish characters are displaying correctly at the table level, but not at the RSRT or the Bex level.
    The turkish characters are displaying correctly at the table, RSRT and Bex level if we load the same record from the Non-unicode Prod system to the Non-unicode BW Dev system, but if we load from the unicode QA system the same record is not displaying correctly.
    Has anybody got a solution for this issue
    thanks
    Kalyan

    Hi,
    Yes, we installed transport request, which came with Integration Kit in our BW System.
    We are also facing another issue,
    ISSUE 2:
    We have another publication with oracle DataSource , where we need to publish report(personalized) for 200 users.
    Even we configured dedicated  processing server for that publication and setting maximum no of connection to 250, it is throwing error like maximum no of concurrent connection reached.
    Previously it was working with just 50 connections.
    Now we are running this report by setting max no of connection to 500, and doing service restart after each publication.
    Otherwise next publication will throw same error again.
    Guide me on this also.

    Baby

  • Turkish characters display '#'

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with the BEx Analyzer tool.  I want to display Turkish characters correctly when running the report but I notice there is a '#' symbol for a specific turkish character (I with a dot on the top).
    It's represented correctly in SAP BW when I view the master data text values.  It is even displayed correctly when I execute the report via the web interface.  The only problem is the BEx Analyzer tool.
    Is this a regional setting for laptops?  Does Microsoft have some support for BEx so that it can display all Turkish characters correctly?  Does SAP have some additional language support for BEx Analyzer?

    Hi,
    will be displayed for Characteristcs when there is no data...if diplay properties of characteristic are set to 'key'.
    if display propety is 'Text',then 'not assigned' will be displayed instead of #.
    don't want to display # ?

  • Bex Report issue - transaction data of type Char not dispalyed complete

    Hi BI Expers ,
    I have one issue related to Bex reports here
    I have complete data loaded in DSO , there is one field Job Title which is having a length of 60 char . When I am executing the report in Bex Analyzer , the value for Job Title is getting truncated after 30 characters . Although full 60 chararacters are loaded in DSO  still I am not able to present them in reports .
    Can some one help here ,  whether this is Analyzer limitation or is there some setting to fix this issue .
    Regards
    Anurag

    Hi Anurag,
    Check the Output length of the object that is giving out put as 30 charecters.
    And check in Business Explorer tab option for BEx Description short, medium or High.
    Hope this helps.

  • Bex reports in non english language

    What setting required to get the Bex reports in Japanese language. Provide more inputs..

    Hi,
    Regarding to the Japanese Displaying issue, it depends on what Bex version are you using to display the BEx report and please refer to thefollowing information:
    1. If you are using BEx3.5 tool    It is necessary to set all the regioan and language settings in
       control panel of the issued machine to "Japan" and "Japanese",
       inculding the "format" "unicode" "keyborad and     languages"       and
       "location" tabs. For more details, please refer to the attached
       "region and language settings.jpg" file.
       After set the language to Japanese, you need to restart your
       PC and then you can verify if the Japanese Characters can be
       displayed correctly in BEx3.5 report.
       Note:Users are supposed to understand Japanese if they need to
       display and read Japanese reports, so all the settings are required
       to set to Japanese, if users need to have PC with English menu
       displayed but with report in Japanese, they can leave "display
       language part" as "English" so the OS system menus will still be in
       English.
    2. If you are using BEx7.0 tool
       Basically you don't have to set anything specially on the client
       machine as Bex7.0 is a multiple language supported version, meaning
       with all Engish settings on local machine, once you logon Bex in
       JA, Japanese Characters can also  be displayed correctly in the
       Bex reports. Just make sure that the relevatn reports data have
       JA maintained in BW backend system and JA language is installed
       correctly.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • PDF Output Not Displaying Turkish Characters

    Hi,
    We've configured BI 7.0 System with an Standalone Portal+BI Java System running both on SP11 Stack without problem.
    For BI Web Reports, we're taking PDF Outputs and getting Turkish Character Problems. On the screen we can see everything correct, even Excel Export displays Turkish Characters without problem but PDF Export is wrong. I've checked the "<b>Note 1007116 - Form output in incorrect language</b>" but not sure whcih form to check? And also if this is the problem?
    If anyone can help us, it'll be great

    Hi Ade,
    I tried all possible combinations of fetching the data. Writing a PL/SQL function and assigning the data to placeholder in before report trigger. Also, tried to use a query and then assign the data to placeholder through formula column. Directly assigining the database column on field without using placeholder.
    While trying all the above options, I ensured that width is set to 4000 characters.
    But all in vain. It works fine for 2000 characters but not able to print 4000 characters.

  • Error Transporting FI ODS with Bex Reporting On

    Hello,
    We are getting error
    "Value Xxxxx for characteristic 0INV_DOC_NO is invalid".
    "Value Xxxxx for characteristic 0REF_DOC_NO  is invalid".
    "Value Xxxxx for characteristic 0REF_KEY1 is invalid".
    "Value Xxxxx for characteristic 0REF_KEY2 is invalid".
    "Value Xxxxx for characteristic 0TXTLG is invalid".
    "Value Xx#xx# for characteristic zsmthg is invalid".
    in transport log while activation fo ODS, we have only checked Bex reporting  flag to report on ODS and
    are trying to move the request to production .
    This ODS has approximately 14,000,0000 and upper level cube is working fine for reports.
    Any Ideas for this error message ?
    Thanks
    Ooops

    Hi,
    when activating your ODS for reporting, the system will generate master data SIDs for all IObjs of your ODS.
    In other words, your ODS was prior this setting just a table with fields not usable in reporting thus not checked when loaded.
    Now the system is checking each value of the IObj and verify that it complies with the IObj rules (lower case not allowed, special characters allowed in Tx RSKC, and so on...).
    If the values are fine, the system will create this master data and corresponding SIDs for all IObjs if they aren't created yet)...
    All these checks are performed because you now want to report on this ODS, therefore the system will link your ODS table fields an their corresponding IObjs...
    I suggest to copy your ODS to another; enable the reporting flag on the copy and start loading some data from the original to the copy and escalate the several issue you will face one by one.
    Hope this helps
    Olivier.

  • CR4Ev2 problem exporting to PDF containing Turkish characters

    I know there are other threads with similar topics but I also know some people get irritated when people jump onto their threads with their own problems.
    I am using CR4Ev2 and on my machine which I have installed Eclipse on I have no problems
    exporting my reports to PDF, I have Turkish characters which display perfectly (they did not with
    CR4Ev1 so thanks so much for that)
    I have now exported my project as a WAR file and am trying to run it on another machine with the same
    Tomcat and Java versions.
    If I view the report via the CrystalReport Viewer the Turkish characters display with no hassel.
    But if I try export the report to PDF all the Turksh characters now display as ?, (as they did in CR4Ev1)
    Am I missing something, is there something that I am not including in my project that I need
    when exporting the PDF.
    I have installed Adobe Reader 9 on this new machine incase the Turkish langauge fonts were not in
    my version 8, but still get funny ? characters, I even installed the Turksih version of Adobe 9 and still nothing. Is there some other files that I could have installed on my Eclipse machine that I have not installed
    on the second machine.
    I have tried both the following commands to export to PDF
    CRJavaHelper.exportPDF(clientDoc, response, true);
    and
    CRJavaHelper.exportPDF(clientDoc, response, false);
    both dont work.
    I have also tried the following (which I used before with CR4Ev1)
    ByteArrayInputStream byteArrayInputStream = (ByteArrayInputStream)clientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    writeToFileSystem(byteArrayInputStream, EXPORT_OUTPUT); // EXPORT_OUTPUT = "c:\test.pdf"
    private void writeToFileSystem(ByteArrayInputStream byteArrayInputStream, String exportFile) throws Exception {
              //Use the Java I/O libraries to write the exported content to the file system.
              byte byteArray[] = new byte[byteArrayInputStream.available()];
              //Create a new file that will contain the exported result.
              File file = new File(exportFile);
              FileOutputStream fileOutputStream = new FileOutputStream(file);
              ByteArrayOutputStream byteArrayOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(byteArrayInputStream.available());
              int x = byteArrayInputStream.read(byteArray, 0, byteArrayInputStream.available());
              byteArrayOutputStream.write(byteArray, 0, x);
              byteArrayOutputStream.writeTo(fileOutputStream);
              //Close streams.
              byteArrayInputStream.close();
              byteArrayOutputStream.close();
              fileOutputStream.close();
    But that also does not work.
    Please can someone tell me what they think I am missing.
    Oh, another note with the CRJavaHelper.exportPDF(clientDoc, response, false); command
    It does work but I do get the following error in my console (both the Eclipse machine and the new one).

    But as I said it seems to work fine apart from the Turkish character issue on the new machine)
    Is this part of the problem or a seperate issue??
    Thanks all for looking at this.
    Darren

    Ted,
    I have double checked the Java version and infact reinstalled jdk6u7 (multilanguage version) just to be
    100% sure, but that did not help.
    ON my Eclipse machine the Fonts are as follows
    Verdana(Embedded Subset)
         Type: TrueType
         Encoding: Built-In
    but on the other machine it is different
    Verdana
        Type: TrueType
        Encoding: Ansi
        Actual Font: Verdana
        Actual Font Type: TrueType
    So that does appear to be the problem, but the question is what controls this?
    As I said the project is exactly the same (same WAR file) so what I have done differently or what am I
    missing in the new enviroment.
    I set the "Text file encoding" for the whole project to UTF-8 before I exported the project (in Eclipse)
    but that didnt help. I even set the properties of each report to UTF-8.
    I am sure I am missing something simple.
    The only other difference is Im running XP Pro on Eclipse machine but W2KSP4 on the other, but
    surely that is not the issue.
    Cheers
    Darren

    If nothing else, this huge list of updates and fixes, shows clearly that the Logic Dev team is working hard on fixing and improving LPX to a major degree.... and from the list of fixes done.. show they do read the bug reports submitted!
    As an aside....
    I recall how all the 'naysayers' prior to LPX (and in some cases, since...)  were proclaiming how Logic was dead, the team was being disbanded, we won't see any further development, the Dev team doesn't listen or care... and so on....... I wonder where those people are now?

  • Concatenation of Data from 4 infoobjects into a single cell in Bex Report

    Hi,
    I have loaded ODS with the description data. The source system for loading the ODS is the flat file. The ODS data should be a replica of the flat file.
    In the flat file, there is a description field corresponding to a particular ID. This Description is greater than the standard 60 char length. So, I had to split the description while loading the flat file using single line routine in the Transfer Structure.
    So, while loading different  the data, I split the description field data from the flat file into 4 infoobjects and the flat file data was loaded into the ODS.
    Now, from the reporting point of view, I need to display the entire description data from the 4 info-objects into a single cell in the Bex report.
    Please suggest a solution for this.

  • Header and Footer in a BEx report

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a requirement where I need to provide a space for the user to sign-off with their name and signature at the bottom of the print-out of a BEx report. For this purpose I need to provide a space at the bottom of the report where the user can write their names and sign-off. It should be something like:
    Name: _________________________________-
    Signature: _______________________________
    Date: ___________________________________
    Is there some way I can add all this as the footer text in the BEx query?
    Thanks,
    Ram

    If the BEx query can use a "structure" in the rows section....
    Under last row, add a selection = company code, set it not equal to the company code, & change the description =
    NAME:  ____________________________________________
    Then, copy the above row, but change description to =
    SIGNATURE: _____________________________________
    Repeat, copy the above row, change description =
    DATE:  ____________________________________
    If you want to add blank lines, copy one of these rows, but change description = a period = .
    By setting the restriction <> to the real company code, then that row should be blank straight across, except for the description.
    A better/more professional looking option is to put the BEx query into a web template, add 3 HTML rows under the query result table, add text per your specs.  Then save web template to the appropriate role/folder to publish it on the portal.

    @jay

    Hi Ajay,
    Refer to web tempaltes 0adhoc_header and 0adhoc_Footer , by changing this you should be able to display header and footer for each query out of BW server.
    Hope that helps.

  • Shortened Fiscal Year and its impact on BI back end and Bex reports

    Hi All,
    Our client is making some changes to the fiscal year period.
    Becuase of some business requirements, we will have to shortened the fiscal year.
    Can you please suggest - what are the watch points when we do this?
                                            - what will be the impact to BI back end and Bex reports?
    Thanks,
    Nisha

    Hello Nisha,
    Since the fiscal year (Infobjects - 0FISCYEAR and/ 0FISCPER3) is compounded with fiscal year variant, therefore maintaining the correct variant in BI will automatically take care of showing the data correctly.
    So there are two things to be maintained in BI:
    1) To see that the variant definition.
    2) If you need to display the text of the fiscal periods, then the correct texts.
    Let me know if you need more clarifications.
