Just turned on my MBP 2007 and the screen gets stuck on the light blue before the normal log in page comes. Any Clues?
Worked fine last night. It's running Snow Leopard.

Does your iMac fail to boot every time or only some of the time?  Here are some things to try:
    - Boot into "safe mode", which will run the equivalent of Disk Utility's "repair disk" operation.
    - Boot from the system install disc that came with that Mac with the "D" key held down to run the diagnostics.  Run them several times to see if any hardware problems are reported.
    - If you can't identify the problem or fix it any other way, download and install the OS X 10.6.7 "combo" updater.
    - If that still doesn't help, try reinstalling OS X 10.6 over the top of what's on the disk.

  • Firefox gets slow after awhile and also hangs and sometimes i get plugin-container.exe error

Hello, it's a while that Firefox gets slow and also hangs and sometimes i get plugin-container.exe error...
I'm not sure but maybe it often happens after monitor goes to Screen Saver or after it turns off...
    Error signature
    AppName: plugin-container.exe AppVer:1.2.9.3951
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset:0000100b

You can run Java in Firefox.exe instead of plugin-container.exe, but I'm not sure that actually would be better than where you are now.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''java''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) If '''dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled''' is true (bolded), right-click it and choose Reset (or double-click it to toggle).
If that value already is false, you might be having a problem with another common plugin such as Flash.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.
If this does not work, set it up as new device, explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
If still no luck, get it serviced by Apple or visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider next to your place and let them have a look at your device.

  • I get a blue screen whenever I unlock it and I have to keep turning it off and on to get the slide to unlock to appear

Have iPod touch and I get a blue screen whenever I unlock it & I have to keep turning it off and on to get the slide to unlock to appear.

    Reset the Device:
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off, then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.
That won't remove any data. I hope that works.

  • I'm getting the kernal panic screen when I put in DVD

My iMac G5, 2 GB has been slow, and occasionally getting the "restart your computer" screen. I ran the Apple Hardware Test on it twice. It passed both times, so I decided it must be software. I proceeded to do a clean install of the OS. Now I'm getting the Kernal Panic screen just as the computer recognizes the disk and is about to launch the installer. I've been reading the forums on Kernal Panic. Could be RAM memory. But could it also be the optical drive if its slow to spin at first?
What info on the "Panic" screen would tell me where the problem is?

Your title is a little confusing; are you getting the message ONLY when you put a DVD in, or does it also happen when starting the computer up?
If it's the DVD, is it the OS DVD? Are you sure you are using a PPC DVD and not an Intel DVD? I recall the same panic screen on my own G5 1st gen when I mixed up my Intel DVD with my PPC DVD.
The first line of your panic (panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002DEC28): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac12.1") was very similar to mine, except mine had "panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002DEC28): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac8.2"

  • FF keeps crashing on loading and sometimes I get a message

    Well, this is embarrassing.
Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
    You can try:
    * Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
    * Starting an entirely new browsing session
So upon crashing I just get a crash message or sometimes I get this message which starts out "Well this is embarrassing.." then it goes on to say one of the tabs I tried to open caused the problem. When the problem started yesterday it would open but would crash on certain sites. Now it closes immediately.
    HELP!
    ''<removed unnecessary white-space - c>''

Thanks - I actually just uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and now it's fine.

My Iphone 4 has just turned itself off and I cant turn it back on. It had a full battery before it cut off so its definetly not the battery, however I have found recently that the battery has been running out really quickly. any ideas what to do? Thanks

    Try resetting your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Messed up my BW G3...Getting Darwin Kernal Panic 7.9.0

    Hi Guys,
I finally figured my problems with my Lacie 250 portable hardrive.I turned it into my primary drive, when I had to move. The Lacie shows up Primary System..not my Internal IBM drive. I think it is disk o. I read my other posting in older other hardware. I was hand moving OSX Core Files to my IBM internal disk. I was the core X folder for the Lacie, copied it my desktop, when i should have saved to documents. I trashed it,resulting in a Darwin Kernal Panic.
I'll try the OSX or OS 9 Cds. It has classic on the IBM disk. This what the kernal message is:

First, I would disconnect all peripherals except the original Apple keyboard and mouse. Boot the computer into safe mode if possible and do the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your currently installed OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now, you did not indicate if this upgrade to 10.5.8 was from an earlier version of Leopard or if you first upgraded to Leopard then to 10.5.8 using the combo updater. I'm assuming the former, so after you've done the above repairs reinstall the 10.5.8 Combo Updater. If you did not use a Combo Updater, then you can download it from support.apple.com/downloads/.
If the above doesn't help then I would suggest reinstalling OS X as follows:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
And, if the above doesn't help start looking at the probability of bad RAM.

  • Have to turn phone off and on to get Comcast email

I can't get my Comcast email to "fetch" without turning my phone off and then on again. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?
I have followed apple's and comcast's instructions carefully in setting it up on my iPhone so don't know what the problem is...
    Thanks!

Same problem Willow. Fetch doesn't work for more than an hour on any of my POP accounts. It appears to be a problem with the software.
This is completely whacked, but here is what I did and it turned all my POP accounts into Push, so I get email immediately.
I have Comcast for my wife, and still am trying to get my friends and customers to migrate to my Verizon account. I also have a company email which is Exchange, but I currently only use POP here. I have a free gmail account (it's not push), and a Mobile me account.
I set up Verizon and Comcast to forward to my Mobile Me account (60 day trial). No joy here, simply wouldn't work reliably if at all.
So after spending several hours today of trial and error I found that by forwarding Verizon and Comcast to my Gmail account and then from there forwarding to my Mobile me account using my company's server for the outgoing mail, mail from all accounts except that from my company's server arrive immediately.
I have instructed my customers to use the Verizon or Comcast account as my preference, so it's not critical to have that account pushed. My company's server is Exchange, so I could at some point convert that on my phone and that email would be pushed as well. I have Gmail set up to enable POP and IMAP. When messages are accessed with POP...keep Gmail's copy in the inbox. When forwarding to Mobile Me, it's set up to delete Gmail's copy so I don't get duplicates
A caveat for me and anyone else who might try this with Verizon (not for you if you use Comcast). Verizon does not keep local copies of messages that have been forwarded. If the message coming into my Verizon account is critical, I have to forward it back to myself from Mobile Me where it ends up now, to have a local copy on my Mac at home. Comcast does allow a local copy so when I'm home I get 2 copies of the same message using Apple Mail.
This is all pretty whacky, but until Apple gets the next software iteration out it works for me.
I'll keep you all posted, but for now it's working fine.

    Hey penguin42,
So it sounds as if your iPhone is not completely starting up, a distressing situation to be sure. Let's see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
Start with the section titled If your device gets stuck during startup.
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

If you still need help after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Happy computing,
