Turn off 24 hour clock

The following problem seems to exist in the iPod Touch: if you set your iPod country code (in the 'international' settings) to certain countries, you cannot turn off 24 hour time. The slider to turn 24 hour time off is still there, but is more or less shaded, and you cannot actually slide it.
I live in Belgium, and that is one of the countries where you cannot turn this off (the same goes for the UK or Ireland, and many other). I really don't like 24 hour time, but switching to another country that does allow 24 hour time to be turned off, doesn't work. If I switch to another country setting, that change also affects the way telephone numbers are displayed, it also changes the first day of the week in iCal (it often becomes Sunday instead of Monday) and suddenly home addresses in iCal aren't shown any more. Changing the country setting is therefore not an option.
Does anyone have an idea how I can simply activate the 24 hour time slider, so I can turn it off?

Yes, that's how it is.

  • Can you turn off hourly back ups

Is it possible to turn off the hourly back ups in time machine, and just have a daily and weekly back up? I don't think I need a back up every hour, it also seems to slow down the internet while backing up, can anyone help?

Or just turn off your external hard drive.
TM will ask you to turn it on again after 10 days for a back up.

  • Turn off hourly chime

My iPhone sounds a chime on the hour and quarter hour, but only certain times of the day.  I've searched how to turn this off, and cannot find how to.  I have NOT installed an alarm app.

There really isn't any other way. I've read posts about this in the past where it turns out to be a game that's setting off a chime at some weird hour every day.
It would still take a while but you might be able to find some ideas by searching for something like "apps that cause an hourly chime iPhone" in your favorite search engine. You might see the name of an app you have pop up somewhere.
    Best of luck.

  • Can't turn off hourly time announcements

Here's a weird issue. Since the 10.9 upgrade I get the hourly time announcements, but the option is unchecked in Date and Time Preferences. Starting to get annoying. Curious id anyone else has this issue or has reported it to Apple.

i have the same issue.  really frustrating :/

  • Turn off Standard STB Display Clock

We have a Standard STB in our bedroom and I would like to turn off the clock display when its powered off.
    How can I do this?

AFAIK there are only 2 option for the display - time or channel.  No ability to turn off display with power off.

  • Alarm clock on iPad turns off when I open cover:

Recently (the last 2 weeks) when I have an alarm on my iPad set to go off in the morning, this is what happens: I hear the alarm going off. I open the cover to hit snooze. In the past, when I opened the cover, I had the option of hitting snooze or ok. (Ok to turn off alarm clock alarm.). The odd thing that's been happening now is, when the alarm goes off, the minute I open the cover, the alarm stops. I can't hit snooze or OK, because opening the cover is triggering the alarm to turn off. I haven't changed any settings. No one else uses my iPad 2. It's not happening every day, just randomly. I have rebooted my iPad, but it still does it. (more often than not!). Thanks

music turns off when i open emails on my iphone 5s. How can I fix this?

  • How do I turn off the digital clock?

I've been dealing with the new 3rd generation iPod Nano's lately. One thing I get asked a lot is how to turn off the clock that comes up after the iPod has been running awhile.
To be more specific: When a running 3rd generation iPod Nano has not been touched for 90 seconds the display will change to a digital clock with a picture of the battery level below it. (the 2nd generation Nano's did not do this). It only goes away if the iPod controls are touched again.
Is it possible to turn of this "auto-clock" function so that the song name/artist/album info stays on the display instead? I can't figure out how do it, and the customer's keep asking me about it.

No, it's not currently possible to turn the screen saver clock off. However, if you set the backlight to "Always On", the screen saver will never turn on. However, this will drain the battery more quickly.

  • Brightside, turn off overlay on lock screen photo

I set a photo I like as my lock screen, unfortunately this phone does not do a slide show of favorite PHOTOS like my LG Voyager.
Turned off the ERI, have no banner loaded, and turned off the CLOCK on the display settings control, and the darned thing overlays a darkening (translucent but grey) bar across the photo where the ERI would be located, and another MASSIVE one where the clock would be.  Any way to turn that off?

if your only issue is with notifications (not sure about texts), this seems like the easiest to fix, in terms of blurred screen; because you DO NOT have to have your notifications display on the lockscreen. You SHOULD be able to have them display in the notifications center swipe down; but so long as they don't have to display on the lockscreen there should be no reason for the iOS to blur the background.
there IS an option to remove an app TOTALLY from notifications, if necessary.
so maybe the only question is: what is more important: your notifications showing up on the lockscreen or your lockscreen image.
to me, i don't care where my notifications display. certainly don't need them on my lockscreen.
my main blur issue is NOT with notifications; but with audio playback; because iOS thinks it has to display the audio controls on the lockscreen, which blurs the wallpaper. But, when I hit PAUSE, I can get the screen to go back to normal (using by toggling screen ON/OFF). hopefully there is a way to remove that from displaying on the lockscreen, since the control center has the same audio controls and is also accessible from the lockscreen.
    hope this helps.

    See Here for
    Frozen or unresponsive iPod touch
    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart..  Reset..  Restore...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the iPod Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the iPod On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • My iphone 3gs has started showing the wrong time  and date. All was fine until this afternoon when it changed.  My apps have the right time and date. However the world clock is wrong. I have to turn off the automatic time setting to get the right time.

My iphone is showing the wrong time and date. All was well until sometime this afternoon when it changed...  to Nov 5 (2 days prior to today), and about 9 hours and some minutes before the actual time.  The world clock for my time zone shows the same wrong date and time. My calender shows the same wrong date and time.  The phone can not find my time zone any more.   The only fix I found was to turn off the automatic setting for time.  What is  happening? Ideas?

    just sorted mine went to
    settings-mail,contacts,calender-timezone support
then turned it off then on tapped time zone and typed london
    this did sort mine

    Hello KCC4ME,
You may try booting your Mac in Safe Boot, as it can resolve many issues that may prevent a successful login.

If a Safe Boot allows you to successfully log in, you may have issues with one or more login itmes (while the following article is labelled as a Mavericks article, it is viable for earlier versions of the Mac OS, as well).

  • Is there a way to force my iPad to shut down? I "slid" to turn off three hours ago. The "wheel" is still spinning in the middle of the screen.

Is there a way to force my iPad to shut down? I "slid" to turn off three hours ago. The "wheel" is still spinning in the middle of the screen.

Yeah, hold down the top Sleep button and the Home button simultaneously.  Continue to hold until the screen goes blank and the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the red slider midway through this process, just keep holding both buttons down until the Apple logo appears -- it takes about 8-10 seconds.  That should do a soft reset and fix your problem.

  • AppleScript to turn off Bluetooth after an hour of no usage

I'm interested in making an AppleScript that will turn off Bluetooth after a bluetooth device is not used for (let's say) one hour. The script should run only on battery life, not when the computer is plugged in.
Any ideas on how to start? Thanks.

I don't think there's any way (at least easy way) to do this.
AppleScript is very good at initiating events, but not good at responding to them. As such it's not easy to write a script in this manner. About the only way to do this would be to have a stay-open script that periodically checks the list of connected devices and keeps track of when the last bluetooth device was used - however, there's a big difference between being 'used' and being 'connected'... you may have a bluetooth headset 'connected', but if you're not running any audio apps it might not be used, and that's hard to AppleScript to determine.

  • I started off not being able to highlight or tap on a number and call it. Then all my apps became unresponsive after I opened them. I could close them and I tried turning off my phone but it's been "turning off" for over an hour and a half. What do I do?

I tried to take a number and make it into a contact from a text message and it wouldn't open. So I tried to open facebook later, and I found that all my apps were unresponsive once they opend. So I turned it off but the circle thing has been going for an hour and a half now and won't completely turn off. I plugged it into the computer and I get a pop up message that Itunes can't recognize my phone or something similar. Don't know what to do, I was going to reset everything but how can I if it won't recognized when plugged into my computer?

Hi.  I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. I'm still confused as to why I'd get an email saying I had to call the fraud department only to be told I shouldn't have called the fraud department.
