Turn off accelerometer in itunes?

I run 4-6 miles daily with my iphone. When the phone bounces around sometimes I get the landscape display for my song list and have to flip through album covers. I would like I tunes to stay vertical, so I can use the arrows to go back and forth instead of having to flip through album covers. It is slow and annoying. Can I disable just this feature?

turn off accelerometer in itunes?.
There is no accelerometer in iTunes.
You can set the iPhone to call up the iPod controller by double tapping teh Home button.
Settings -> General -> Home.
Tick iPod.
Set the *iPod controls* to On.
Now double tap the home button to call up the iPod controls (even when the iPhone is locked) with Volume, Play/Pause, FF/Next, RW/Previous, current song name.
This will work with whatever is going on with the iPhone.

How can I turn off Genius in iTunes 10.5.3  under Lion 10.7.3 (other than disconnecting from the internet). It is no longer an option in the Store menu and although I can hide that playlist on the left through parental controls, the atom symbol is still present in the lower right of the window available to generate a list from a selected song. Thank you.

I have the option to turn it off. What version of iTunes are you using? I have the latest iTunes. Have you tried signing out of the store?

  • Is there an easy way to turn off Genius in itunes 10.6.1?

I have Genius playlists on my ipad2 that I do not want. I would like to get rid of all Genius suggestions and have viewed many suggestions; one being to go to the store tab and click turn off genius. This option is not available it only gives the option 'Update Genius'. I recently joined itunes Match and this seems to automatically think that you want to have Genius. Can someone help me in gettng rid of Genius. Thanks in advance.

In reply to Peter2300's problem of not being able to delete Genius Playlists on the ipdad.  I had this same problem on my ipad2 and my son's ipad mini.  In both our cases we had a number of extra Genius Playlists and most of these had no songs in them.  We couldn't delete them the normal way by just holding down on them until the little X appeared.  We both solved it the same way. On my iPad when I "tap" on the Genius playlist I want to delete, it switches to the screen showing the individual songs in the Genius list (even if it's just a blank playlist), and there is a "save" button near the upper right of the screen. I pressed the Save button and then hit the button on the upper left to return to the list of Playlists.  After doing this, the last Genius Playlist displayed could then be deleted the normal way by pressing on it and waiting for the X.  I had to repeat this process for each extra Genius playlist I wanted to get rid of (which was all of them b/c on mine they were all blanks).  I just repeated the process of viewing each playlist, saving it, going back to the list of Playlists and then deleting the one that appeared last on the screen.  So far these Genious Playlists have not returned.  Hope this helps.

  • Turning off tunes in iTunes 11 you no longer wish to listent to it.

The new iTunes 11 is great, but how do you turn off a tune if you no longer wish to listen to it. The only way I found to do so is to go to controls and then  click stop. I'm sure there is another way of stopping but I haven't found it. I'd be grateful if someone could enlighten me. Also, I upgraded to 11 some time ago, but the interface didn't change much—I just assumed that was it, even though a video I watched showed a completely different interface. I checked 'about iTunes' to make sure that I did indeed have the lastest version, which I did.  Just recently, when I launched iTunes it opened with the new interface. I've no idea why it took so long to change to the this version. Does anyone in the 'community' have any ideas as to why!
Thanks in anticipation of your help, and a Happy New Year to all.

I had the same problem. I was first getting an error on my PC about the library being created with a newer version of iTunes. I upgraded my PC to 8.1 and am now receiving the following error when trying to open up the shared library:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13005)."

  • How do I turn off Sync without iTunes deleting all the songs on my iPod!

Well that's basically my question. I want to keep all the songs that are already there, but from this point on just add new ones manually. When I unchecked the Sync box it wiped out my iPod. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You need to turn off automatic sync before you delete all your tracks from iTunes. If you don't, then you need to prevent the iPod from synching when you connect:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Command and Option keys on a Mac. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Then you can set iTunes to manual synchronization.
Of course, this won't help if your iPod has already had the tracks removed. But you'll know what to do next time.
    Regards.

I can't figure our how to turn off the shuffle in my iPhone's iTunes! Help?

just start playing music from your artists, songs, etc list without selecting Shuffle.. not hard.
If Shuffle was previously used, it will remain ON even if you don't select the "Shuffle" selection at the top of a playlist, album, or All Songs by an artist. You have to turn if OFF from the Now Playing screen anytime it was previously used.

  • Turn off iCloud in iTunes 11 Library?

I recently upgraded to iTunes 11 and am somewhat disapointed with the results. The new features are great, however, one annoys me very. Is there a way to turn off iCloud in my music library? My music library is now flooded with tracks that I want nothing to do with. Please help.

Go to Prefs>Store, uncheck Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases
    If you still see them:
Go to your music, then View>Hide iTunes in the cloud.
Select each of your media types in kind (Movies, TV Shows, etc.) and go to View>Hide iTunes in the cloud
To further decouple your library from the Store/Cloud:
Go to Store>Turn Off iTunes Match and Turn Off Genius.
    Go to Prefs>General, uncheck Genius
Go to Prefs>Store, uncheck Sync playback info, Automatically download album artwork, share info with Apple

  • Can I turn off playlists in iTunes?

Ever since iTunes 8 came out I have noticed that it's impossible to import folders into the library and only get the mp3s in a folder, I always get the playlist as well which is very annoying considering that I get duplicates of every song I import.
Is there any way to turn off this playlist function so I can go back to basics and just throw in folders without having to worry that the playlist will come along as well?
and deleting the playlists is not an option!
Hope to get some help with this, thanks.

I am assuming that you have M3U files in your music folders that are being loading into iTunes along with the mp3's. First of all the songs listed in any playlist are not duplicates. As with the library itself, the list you see is really just a series of "shortcuts" to the actual files on your system. The playlists are just copies of the shortcuts. If you rename a file/folder/drive iTunes puts the little ! symbol beside the track because the shortcut is not pointing/linking to where it should.
You can just delete the playlists, this will not delete anything from your system. Not sure if you can stop the playlists installing, if you cannot delete the M3U files why not temporarily re-name them (extention). There are a lot of free software that will rename a whole bunch of files at one time. When you are done loading just rename them back again.

  • Can't turn off iCloud in iTunes on MacBook running 10.6.8

I can't turn off my wifes iCloud in iTunes on her MacBook that is running 10.6.8. I have read that that way to tun this off is to go to the iCloud icon but this isn't available on 10.6.8. So how do I fix this issue? She can only get access to 50 songs and not her whole library.

Your question makes no sense, given the issue you describe.
But iTunes cloud function is under the iTunes menu >> preferences >> store.
If you mean iTunes match, that's under the store menu.

  • How do i turn off auto populate itunes?

Please tell me there is a way to switch OFF the function of having iTunes automatically populating itself with every mp3 file on my hard drive.
I was horrified to find very sensitive work related phone calls and interviews in my iTunes library because they are mp3 files. I certainly do not wish to have them there. I only want my music in iTunes.
So I now cannot have iTunes open when people or clients are round, because the files are people's names. It would take hours to rename them, and why should I have to? That's how I know what's in them.
It also means that I have 8GB of stuff I do not need in iTunes and when I watch important podcast videos, the sheer volume of stuff in there slows them down and keeps stopping and starting the videos, which is hugely annoying.
Is there a way to switch this auto populate off please?

    Autastic wrote:
I definitely did not agree to it populating iTunes with all these files. It just did it on its own as soon as I opened iTunes after the new update. I assumed it was part of the update, then I saw all these millions of files. I also had my external drive connected (that has a backup of my C drive), and it copied all those files too - so I have two of everything in iTunes!
Does this mean that every time iTunes updates, this will happen? And of course an update is an install, and they happen a LOT! - way too often for my liking.
It's not normal, no, and has never happened to me on any of my systems. Something, perhaps a file permissions problem with a preference file or a corruption in the iTunes library files, caused the flag that tells iTunes that the first run has already occurred to be mis-set such that iTunes thought it was a new install.
(*) About the other headache the new update caused; when I connect my iPod I now get a box saying:
*"The iPod "(my ipod)" is synced with another iTunes library.*
*Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?*
*+An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library."+*
    *"Erase and Sync"* or "Cancel"
Ditto the above. That's a symptom of the same sort of problem. You'll probably need to clean up iTunes so that only the content you want there is present, and then allow your iPod to sync as if it was connecting to a new library (which in reality it will be).
I clicked Cancel as I went white thinking it would try to add all those millions of files to my iPod too. So now I can't even update my iPod.
Why on earth do I have a 2nd library? I have only ever had one PC with iTunes on. It is not on a network or anything. Is this due to the update to iTunes 10?
How can I stop future upgrades?
Turn off the automatic check in Apple Software Update, a separate application on your system.
But again, this is not normal behavior. Something was corrupt in the iTunes files on your system. So once you get a clean set, this problem should not happen again unless the same conditions (whatever those might have been: software conflict, power surge, etc.) occur again. You'll want to do some of the normal steps to check for disk problems/corruptions in Windows to make sure this isn't a systemic problem with your drive or WIndows.
    Regards.
