Turn Off AirPort and BlueTooth?

Is it possible to buy an MacMINI without AirPort and BlueTooth?
If not it is possible to ensure that neither of these devices radiate?
I can't stand wireless technology...
Strangely, the ultra expensive Mac Pro doesn't even come with these annoying "features"

Electromagnetic radiation falls off exponentially with distance (er, something like that) -- so sitting right next to a wireless transmitter 12 hours a days is quite distinct from walking past Starbucks.
A little scrap of paper in the packing material for your wireless router actually gives you an FCC warning to stay at least 3 feet away from the device. Not something particularly emphasized by the industry.
The point about mobile phones is definitely correct -- which is why I don't use one, and if I really needed to, would make quick calls or text, not keep it glued to my ear all day blabbing about celebrities and my boyfriend problem : )
The government also says its Perfect Save to live directly next door to a nuclear power plant, with cooling water running through a stream in your back yard. You'll find some property bargains if you're willing to do that.

  • Turning off wifi n bluetooth in windows

Thank you for viewing my post..will be glad if you could help..
I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 13 and installed windows using bootcamp..
now i am faced with the problem of not having a way to turn off wifi and bluetooth..is ter an application for this or any other way?
    please suggest

did you install all of the windows drivers from the system disk? if not, insert the OS X Install Disk 1 & run the windows installer that shows up.
the bluetooth & wifi icons should be in the system tray. all you should have to do is click on them or a right click (usb mouse), control click, or 2 finger click should bring up the menus & select to disable or turn off.

2013 MBP 2.5 i5 4Gig 500MBHDD boots slow.  It finishes post in the same time as an identical MBP, and then hangs for 30 seconds on one of the ethernet adapters, before finishing the boot.  Once booted it is normal.   Turning off airport changes nothing.  Hardline adapter is not plugged in.  Thunderbolt adapter is not used.  Bluetooth is off.  Did this out of box.  Identical MBP boots to login screen in 36 seconds.  Disk repair, permission repair, and safe mode boot have
already been done, no change.  Boot time is consistent.  Hangs at the same place each time.  Right after post.  Bad adapter?
    Comments, solutions please.

... and so ... now a few days later, success.   I ran
your software but it told me nothing I hadn 't seen
    in verbose boot.
Consistently, following good post, the boot hung
for 30 seconds on the adapters, (cards, chips, NICs.
Ethernet cards, whatever you prefer to call them)
either the airport card or the hard line.  It would then
proceed at normal pace to the login screen.
Since it came out of the box that way, software
conflict was not a go.  I guessed glitched driver or
fetch instruction.  I zapped the PRAM (cleared
NVRAM) and reloaded the OS, updates, Garage Band,
iPhoto (one of Apple's true dogs in an otherwise
rare arena) iMovie, Photoshop, Lightroom, their
updates, and my files.   MBP pro now boots to login
in 31 seconds.  Note I have turned off as much gee
whiz, rubber band scroll, global swiping and other
hubcaps and hood ornaments as befits how like
things ... and turned off all the Asian and other fonts
    I will. ever use.
Best guess ... corrupt driver or corrupt fetch script ...
bad server squirt at factory load.
    Thanks for your help, Cheers!

  • Cannot turn off airport on Imac and PowerBook

I cannot turn off airport on iMac 17" intel (late 2006) and G4 powerbook. One common thing is:
I got rid off .plist files (airport related) on both machines prior to putting new AE in to mix. I set up AE and not only I cannot establish wireless on both machines I cannot turn airport on both as well. Old G4 iMac (3rd machine that was not altered) works.
What did I get rid off?
    iMac gives me this:
    AirPort Card Information:
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x87)
    Wireless Card Locale: USA
Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (4.170.46.9)
Current Wireless Network: AirPort is currently turned off
While Network pref. and icon in menus says airport is on. (Same with powerbook)
    Any suggestions?
Just to ad to confusion. This is replacement AE. First one after firmware upgrade (7.3.2) started to misbehave (very weak signal, mostly). I did downgrade to 7.3.1 but after couple of days I went for factory one (firmware that is), and here I am.

…after waking both computers from sleep situation is reversed. Airport is off and I cannot turn it on. After restart I am back to Airport on (not able to connect, while showing networks to join) and not able to turn off.

  • Can't turn off airport

After installing snow leopard on my MacBook 13" I can't turn off airport from the top menu or from network utility.
Just now was successful in turning off Airport. I had to go to network preferences, click on automatic (not my regular network name), the apply button was no longer grayed out. Hit apply and was able to turn off the connection from preferences. Can now turn off and on from top menu

ok I just installed SNM LPD on 3 intel macs-older Imac 2.0ghz, newer 13"macbook 2.4ghz, and newer 24"Imac 2.4ghz. All of them worked ok except the Imac. I couldn't connect to a wireless network at all nor could I turn off the airport card. The system profiler saw the card and it seemed to be working fine. So I knew it was a software problem. I tried everything. I was just about to wipe the disk and reinstall everything (which would have taken 3 to 4 days) when I tried to add another network location profile. I've used the automatic profile forever, but then I thought I'd try a whole new location. I went to edit locations. Hit the plus button and named it. It populated the hardware and my airpot card (which was on but wouldn't connect) turned off. When I turn it back on (in the NEW location menu) it found all the nearest networks instantly. I found my home network and put in my password and it didn't give me the small "connection error" sign. I don't know what this glitch is but its annoying...hope its helps!

  • How do i turn off airport express bridge

How do i turn off airport express bridge?

Only exception was that it went into bridge mode and I cannot configure an IP camera that was working prior.
Bridge Mode is the correct setting for the AirPort Express since your "upgraded" Xfinity device is a modem/router or gateway device.
So, you already have a router set up on the network. Bridge mode must be used on the AirPort Express to avoid having two devices both trying to act as routers on the network.
That would create IP address conflicts and other problems like Double NAT.
Since the Xfinity device is now your network router, you must configure the port settings for your camera on the Xfinity modem/router. The AirPort Express will simply pass through those settings since it is in Bridge Mode.
You may need to check with Xfinity support on how to set up port forwarding if the owners guide does not cover that topic.

  • Turn off airport extreme

How can I turn off airport extreme during certain times of the day so my kids can't use wifi?

You might want to take a look at the Timed Access settings in AirPort Utility, which will allow you specify the times each day that everyone will be allowed to connect to the network.
Or, you can individualize this, and the set up individual "rules" for each of the kids' devices that allow them to connect using certain times each day....while your devices have unlimited access.

  • Turn off airport before closing display?

should i turn airport off before i close the display and let the computer go to sleep?

I don't know how much battery that saves, but I know that I always turn off airport whenever I'm not searching the net, and before I sleep my MBP I turn it off.

  • Turning off UPnP and keeping it off

How do I turn off UPnP and keep it off.  I turn off UPnP and when I check it has been turned back on.

    same problem here.
    i have a time capsule.
    symptoms:
    excessively searching for network
but more often than not, it cant find the correct netowrk that is correctly stored in keychain
if i try network assistant opened through safari not finding its page, then it can find the right network after i enter in the password again.  it connects. but only for a few seconds then it loses the connection again.
the only fool proof workaround for me is:
1/ shut down time capsule. restart time capsule.
2/ restart mac with airport turned off.
3/ after restart manually select the network from the wireless icon in the menu bar
airport utility is a complete waste of time
old airport utility is still better.

  • I cannot change song order on playlist with highlight and drag. I have turned off shuffle and highlighted the far left column( up/down arrow) of playlist. My mac pro is running 10.5.8  and am using itunes 10.4.

I cannot change song order on playlists (old or new) with highlight and drag. I have turned off shuffle and highlighted the far left column (up/down arrow) of playlist. My mac pro is running 10.5.8  and am using itunes 10.4. I can't drag and drop "music" to "playlist" but can right click and get the option to "add to playlist." No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

  • I want to use Back to my mac. When I try to turn it on, it says "Back to My Mac may be slow because more than one device on your network is providing network services.   Turn off NAT and DHCP on one of the devices and try again." How do I fix this?

Not sure if I am doing this right. This is my first time in the support community.
I imagine what I put in my heading was supposed to go in here.
I want to use Back to my mac. When I try to turn it on, it says "Back to my mac may be slow because more than one device on your network is providing network services. Turn off NAT and DHCP on one of the devices and try again. See the documentation that came with your device for information about turning off network services"
Does anyone know how I do this? I contacted my ISP (Telus in Canada) and they did not know anything (not that they usually do).

Why do ISPs insist upon making things so difficult for their customers?
If you cannot get them to understand that you would prefer to use your own router over their piece of cheap junk, perhaps the information in the following will be useful:
    http://keithbalomben.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/telus-actiontec-v1000h-hacks-and-i nformation/
    Scroll down to DHCP Settings
You will need to log in with proper "technician" credentials. They are provided in the above link as
    Username: tech
    Password: t3lu5tv
... but these may or may not work. Try it, and if you cannot get anywhere at least now you know what to ask Telus to do in return for your business.
