Turn off animation replying to mail?

Is there a key combo when starting Mail that will supress this? I know I can do it with a write command in Terminal but I'd prefer a key combo instead. Thanks

Thanks for the responses (well, most of them -- I'm not getting drugged up because Apple can't design their operating system without "bling," heh).
It's not the finger brushing. I have a similar (unfortunate) reaction to modern computer games with moving 3D graphics (e.g. first-person shooters and those explore-your-surroundings type of games).
I have turned off the effects in apps like Stanza, but unfortunately just navigating the apps and reading my mail (unnecessary sliding pages) is barf-inducing.
Rats. I can scroll as long as I don't lift my finger so the momentum scrolling isn't engaged, but I'd really like to get rid of the sliding effects when switching between screens/home pages.

  • Turn off animations in Mail

    Hi,
is there any way to turn off the animations when sending a mail in Mail?
    Any help is appreciated!

Your design and animations copy the gmail style. Why should i go with apple, if i like google. Than i probably will go with android. Your os6 mail design was more asketic but perfecly balanced.
Give option to return to os6, please.
I do not need another phone looking lije iphone.
Many people like me just do not have time and will to s.it in forums like this.
But there is no one that told me he likes os7 better than os6.
    Fairly.
    Thanks

  • Turn Off Animations in Mountain Lion Mail

Someone, please write a fix this. I need a thoroughbred, not a circus.
I write as many as 100 email messages a day. Everyday I check here and on MacUpdate to see if there is a fix for Mail to turn off the bouncing new message window. I can't take it anymore. Sometimes I foget to close my eyes and I'm seasick.
Following the bouncing ball for downloads isn't as bad as the bouncing and swooshing messages, but I could do without that too.
On the upside, my several years old iMac Intel is so fast I hardly know I've touched the keys before type appears on the screen.
Adding animations can't be necessary to speeding up the system, right?

Thank you. I'm afraid these are not bugs and hoping a user will write a fix.
I found the following string on another rmessage and put it into Terminal and hit return/enter , retarted mail, but nothing changed.

  • Turn off animation effects to prevent nausea?

I've spent an hour poking through the forums, but couldn't find this issue addressed (maybe I'm using the wrong keywords), anyway:
I just got an iPod Touch yesterday and while I love it in theory, in practice I can't use it for more than a few minutes without getting motion sickness from all the sliding and flipping when switching between screens and momentum scrolling. Is there a way to turn off these effects or reduce them? I would like to be able to use this device without wanting to vomit for hours afterward just because of interface animations.

Thanks for the responses (well, most of them -- I'm not getting drugged up because Apple can't design their operating system without "bling," heh).

  • How can I turn off auto-capitalization for Mail in Mountain Lion?

How can I keep mail.app from capitalizing the first letter of sentences?  I have turned off auto-correct both at the system level and in Mail, and yet I cannot seem to keep Mail from capitalizing the first letter?

Thanks - this helped me track it down - some Textexpander setting apparently got switched when I updated.

  • How do you turn off auto-reply/notify in iCal?

I'm sure there's a simple answer to this because I've searched high and low and I just can't disable the auto-notify/auto-reply feature in iCal when I delete a meeting notice someone else invited me to.
What's the process for turning off this great feature (tongue in cheek)? I'm stumped.
    JimN

    A great solution here:
    http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icalreplychecker/
Install and it works a treat. You can either disable the auto-reply altogether, or have ical ask you first.
    Hope that helps!

  • Turning off Image Preview in Mail.app

Hello, my computer is reasonably fast, but another one that I use (also on leopard) is an older mac Mini and its really slow. Unfortunately it really gets really slow when someone sends me an image file and the preview kicks in.
Is there any way to turn off preview in Mail.app?
If I really want to see a darn image I can always just d/l it and open it through finder....
    Thanks

Unfortunately this preference is already turned off.
Another instance of this same is when I attach an image file to my files and send it off. I don't need to see what's on my pdf when I email it out, I just want to see the icon to know its attached to the message.

  • I can't turn off sound alerts for mail arrival

I have Mail in Lion configured to not play a sound when mail arrives. However, recently a sound started playing. It's still turned off in the config. I suspect a bug in a recent update to Lion. Has anyone else noticed this?

No wonder nobody else had this problem. It wasn't until I turned the sound off on my Macbook Pro and still heard the sound announcing an arrival of an email that I twigged.  I realised that I had Mail open on my Mini to which I have speakers connected.  Normally I don't have Mail running on my Mini; hence my confusion.

    Hi.
My new C3-01 is driving me insane. Every time a mail arrives, it goes *PLING!*.
It is only quiet, when I choose the silent mode. But I like the normal sound-mode (argh! the phones language is set to Danish). I've unchecked all sounds but incoming calls, but still the *PLING!* goes on.
    Can anyone help?
    Thx!

  • Turn off animation in Time Machine?

Does anyone know how to turn off the animation when browsing through files in time machine? I can not stand to look at it because it makes me nauseous. I am hoping there is a way where you can click the date or the window you want and it would instantly go there rather than watching all of the windows fly by. Thanks!

Come here for advice instead of Best Buy.
If you are encrypting a drive that already has data on it, then it will take a long time. You can continue to use the drive, and even shut off your machine, but it will still take a long time. The best approach is to erase a new external drive immediately and encrypt it right away. Then the encryption will only take a few seconds.
Either way, once it is encrypted, it will work fine and be just as fast an an unencrypted drive. As long as you know the password to the drive, you can restore it to any machine. You can even store the password in iCloud Keychain if you want. I keep all of my drives encrypted. Then, even if someone steals the drive, they will never get the data.

Just curious how to turn off this feature (if it's possible).

  • Turn off "animation"?

So one of my favorite tricks is to being able to hit shift-spacebar to get an image of what a file is without actually opening it. In Snow Leopard, that just snapped open. I now have a new computer with Yosemite and it's a verrry slow reveal, really unnecessarily so. I've looked in ever Preference pane and I can think of.. any idea how to turn that off and just have it open 'normally'.
    Thanks!
    marie

    Hello imcarmel,
It sounds like you are using trying to use Quick Look to see what the files are before opening them. Try just pressing the spacebar without holding shift to preview a document so it will not open so slowly. Let me know if that works for you or you are still having the same slow to open action.

  • How do I turn off double-spacing in Mail

Whenever I compose a message in Mail, if I hit the return key, it skips down two lines at one time. How do I get a single space?

This is present in Leopard 10.5.2
    Hello there,
    Let me understand something first:
    *Double Spaced*
    Line 1
    Line 2
    *Single Spaced*
    Line 1
    Line 2
    That being said,
I created an Email message that was double spaced. Viewed the RAW source of the Email and created an HTML document from the HTML source and viewed it in Safari. Its double spaced in Safari! It's possible that the HTML from the RAW source is the problem surrounding the lack of Single-Spacing. See for yourself...
