Turn off cell broadcast information

I keep getting a pop up titled "Cell broadcast 50" on my phone. Sometimes as many as 30 in one night and I have to clear each one to be able to use my phone. This is so frustrating. Does anyone know how to turn it off in z10? In traditional BBs to turn off is settings, advanced settings, cell broadcast info, then off. But this doesn't seem to be the case with the Z10.

You can turn it off.
1. Go into the hub.
2. click on overflow button (3 Vertical dots).
3. Select settings.
4. Select Cell broadcast
5. Turn slider to off.

  • Turn OFF the Broadcast of SSID Name?

My router allows me to turn off the broadcast of SSID Name.
How do I turn OFF my Airport SSID?

Disabling the broadcast of SSID gives you a false sense of security. The SSID is still broadcast between the base station and any connected clients. Therefore the SSID is easily discovered.
Disabling the broadcast of SSID only succeeds in making troubleshooting more difficult.
If you want to secure your network use WPA wireless encryption with a non-dictionary password.

  • Iphone 4S newly updated to iOS8, keeps popping up window notifying me of things I turned off (cell usage, location, etc) to preserve battery life.  Is there any way to make them stop telling me every time I use the affected apps?

I have finally taken the step of updating my iPhone 4S to iOS8 after learning the hard way last update to wait for the bugs to be worked out.  I was horrified to find that the battery was being sucked dry in no time at all.  After finding a great article posted elsewhere on the apple forums, I went through and turned off all unnecessary options involving the use of cell data, location services and background refreshing.  My battery life has thankfully returned to what it was before the update.
HOWEVER, now, every time I open an app for which I turned these things off, the window informing me of that pops up.   I am getting really irritated by this as I made all of these decisions deliberately and am well aware that I may need to go back and change them in order to activate certain capabilities when I want to use them.  I had done the same thing with the last iOS, but there were far fewer that needed to be turned off and the battery life seemed to be less affected by those that I left on so it was not the annoyance it has become now.
Is there any way to make the phone stop presenting me with these idiot messages?   TIA

Sorry no, there isn't a way to turn off those reminders.

  • How to turn off cell phone/data on iPhone 4 but use WiFi?

I am travelling to Turks and Caicos and they do have CDMA coverage - but if I leave my cell phone on I will get charged for any incoming text messages or phone calls.  Yet I want to be able to use my iPhone 4 for WiFi, which is free in the hotel  Is there a way to turn off the cell phone without turning off the WiFi, like Airplane mode does?  Its easy on AT&T iPhones since this is a big deal for them as their phones are true world phones - but there are times when you will travel with an iPhone 4 and can get hit with huge roaming fees.  For example - $0.50 per text message outgoing!!!
So - is there a way to turn it off but use the WiFi?  Thanks!!
    Lou

Very easy just turn on airplane mode then turn wifi on after turning airplane mode on! Works for me.

  • Turning off cell

im travelling overseas and don't want to incur any roaming or cell charges. I wil have access to wifi at my hotel but I can't figure out how to turn the cell off and only use wifi for email. How do I know the phone isn't accessing the cell vs wifi?

I, too, am about to travel abroad. Talking with AT&T customer service to the 2nd level of supervisor, they maintained that EVEN with airplane mode on, they know where your phone is, and will charge you international roaming rates if any call comes in and goes to voicemail. They claimed that they cannot turn off voicemail, and that unless you buy their international data plan, you're at risk of high charges.
I just talked with Apple Tech, and they double checked and say that, in airplane mode, the cell radio is OFF. Completely off. If that's true, then AT&T cannot know where the iPhone is, and would just record 'visual voicemail' as if you were at home (last place it saw the phone).
If you then turn on WiFi at Starbucks abroad, you should be able to retrieve voicemail at no charge. Plus, I can use the iPhone as an iTouch so I can watch videos, podcasts, etc. while traveling. I have no need of international data/phone calling other than WiFi based.
Anyone know for a fact if this is true? I'm about to test it, and would rather not come home to a big bill. I think AT&T is not being very nice about this subject.

  • Can I turn off Cell Service and just use GPS

I want to use my iPhone 5 with only GPS activate for when I run with various apps.
I no longer have a cell account on this phone since I just bought an iPhone 6. I don't want my phone to keep searching for service and running down the battery plus the annoying notification "Phone is not Activated. Is there a way to turn off everything (including phone service, not just data) except the GPS?
    Thank you...

So, in theory, when I can use WiFi, it should not be running up data usage against the 3G plan that I pick...correct?

  • Turn off Cell Radio (and wifi) and Leave AGPS On?

    Hello,
I would like to turn off all radios except GPS to save battery life on extended excursions without power. I know how to turn off wifi, and with Airplane mode I can turn off all other radios, but even if, in airplane mode, I have Location Services on, it does not appear that the A-GPS radio is active.
Is there a way to do this? If I pull the SIM card, does this disable the cellular radios? Or just inactivate service but still allow the power drain?
    Thanks!
    Michael

Seems there should be a way to turn the cell radios off.
There is, its called Airplane mode, but this also turns off the GPS chip as well.

  • How does turning off "Cell Network Search" affect "Find My iPhone"?

I have turned Cell Network Search off in an effort to reduce battery drain under iOS 7.1.  Does this in any way affect Find My iPhone?
I have Location Services on for Find My iPhone.  I turn Background App Refresh off when I'm at home and on when I'm out; I believe this doesn't affect Find My iPhone.
I'd be interested in Apple's official description (which I wasn't able to locate) as well as any personal experiences.
    Thanks.

  • Turning off SSID broadcasting of an iMac.

Hey, so let's say that I want to share my iMac's connection to the internet with other things in my house, like a Nintendo Wii, but at the same time, I don't want it to be discoverable by my neighbors' computers. How do I stop my iMac from broadcasting its SSID?
    Thanks
iMac Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

dern_foley, Welcome to the discussion area!
That is not possible. Using your iMac as a base station offers extremely limited options.
Also, be aware that even if you were able to enable an option like that it only stops the base station from sending the name out as a beacon. Whenever a client is connected the base station name is broadcast. Therefore if there is any wireless traffic, the network name is still broadcast and easily discovered. Therefore there is no value in using this option.

Yes, you can turn off cellular data. You will not be able to use Visual Voicemail or get MMS messages, however.

  • WRT150N - Is is possible to turn off the radio transmission?

    Hi all,
I have a WRT150N. I currently use it as a router, accessing the Internet through a cable, not the wireless radio signal.
I would like to turn the wireless radio signal off because the radio interferes slightly with my Plantronics CT12 headset phone.
Is there a way to completely turn off the broadcast of the radio signal?
I did set the Wireless Network Mode to "disabled", but I have read elsewhere on this forum that this does NOT disable the broadcast of the radio signal.
I would be grateful for any help.
    Thanks much,
    Warren

You need to have to disable the wireless broadcast ... for the router .... you can change the wireless channel on it
    Radio Band - 40Mhz
    Wide Channel - 6
    Standard Channel - 8 ...
    Click save settings ...
Again check that the issue occurs or not ....
