Turn off Collection Editor display?

I have set up ZAM 7.5 to integrate with eDirectory by using NAL applications
to populate custom Windows registry settings, then using the ZAM collection
editor to read the data and place the workstation in the appropriate
department and identify the computer location and user. I have one problem.
I would like the Collection Editor to run in order to collect the data, but
I do not want the "Save and Exit" window to display to the user. I tried
unchecking all the option tabs in the Collection Editor tab of the default
option set, but the window still displays -- the user just has no options he
can edit/select. The best I have been able to do is to "Exit and Load"
after 1 minute.
How can I continue to run the collection editor but turn off the window
display?
Thanks for any input.

I must say that is somewhat counter-intuitive, but I will give it a try and
see what happens. Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no on off switch.
The best you can do is sleep the display or
    unplug it.
I don’t know what unplugging it will do/cause.
    You can try it.

  • Canon Vixia HF R20 - How do I turn off the date display?

How do I turn off the date display on my Canon Vixia HF R20? I do not want the date on my videos. I searched the manual and googled it and can't find an answer.

    Hello DaisyKary,
When shooting with the VIXIA HF R20 you would be able to turn off most of the displays by pressing the [DISP. Batt. Info] button through a cycle.  It will change what is displayed on the camcorder's LCD panel.
If this is an urgent technical support matter I would urge you to contact Canon technical support directly for further assistance.

We have a Standard STB in our bedroom and I would like to turn off the clock display when its powered off.
    How can I do this?

AFAIK there are only 2 option for the display - time or channel.  No ability to turn off display with power off.

  • Manually turning off iMac G5 Display

    Hi,
I've been searching around and haven't been able to find an answer to this.
I have my computer set to turn on the screen saver after 5 minutes of inactivity and turn off the display after 15 minutes of inactivity, and I like it that way. My computer is in my bedroom though, and sometimes I want the display to just shut off when I am going to sleep... but sometimes, I am working on something that takes the computer a while to process, such as exporting a large final cut file, burning a DVD, or leaving an away message enabled on AIM. I don't want to put the entire computer to sleep, because that stopps the process... and I don't want to wait 15 minutes for my display to shut off... and I don't want to change the Energy Saver settings every single time I want the display off!
Is there any way to do this?
Is there a script of somekind that can do this?
I'm familiar with the Apple-Option-Eject command, but that puts the entire computer to sleep, not just the screen.
I've also tried the "Lights Out" app... but that program doesn't do what I want. It's basically a different version of energy saver.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much.

Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and paste in the following:
display dialog "What type of sleep do you want?" buttons {"Display", "Full", "Cancel"} default answer "An administrator password is required."
    set {the_password, the_button} to {text returned of the result, button returned of the result}
    if the_button is "Full" then
do shell script "pmset -a displaysleep 0 sleep 15" password the_password with administrator privileges
    end if
    if the_button is "Display" then
do shell script "pmset -a displaysleep 1 sleep 0" password the_password with administrator privileges
    end if
Changing the power management settings through a method other than the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences requires an administrator password due to the permissions on the files which store them. Save the script as an application and place it in an easily accessible location. More information on the usage of pmset is available here.

  • How do you turn off a single display when running two by software?

so, i just bought a vizio 47" 1080p lcd tv and am very impressed with how good it looks connected to my imac with a dvi to hdmi cable. the problem is that sometimes i want to turn off the imac's screen because it can get distracting. any ideas?? thanks in advance.
    Ray

This still is a serious issue. Has anyone heard any official statements from Apple regarding this? The iMac would be a great HTPC/computer combo, if it was possible to turn off the internal LCD.
With the current state of Mac display management, this is a real show stopper for PC-based friends looking for alternatives for PC/Vista.

  • Does frequently sleeping/turning off the 30" display lower display life?

I typically sleep or turn off my 30" Cinema display about 6 times each day while my Mac Pro is sleeping. I also turn the display off when listening to music/podcasts. Will this frequent power on/power off lower the life of the monitor?

Fluorescent lamps left on all the time will give more total of hours of light than tubes tubes that are turned on and off frequently, but any time spent producing light when you aren't watching is wasted. Turning it off for just a few minutes at a times is not a good idea, but turning it off for longer periods will mean you don't have to replace it so soon. You will get slightly fewer hour of light from the lamps, but the total life of the display (on plus off hours) will be longer.

  • Is there any way to turn off a PB display without sleeping the computer?

I'm using my PB G4 12" to stream audio content from the web. I just purchased 7 megabit DSL service and I use iTunes to play internet radio pretty much constantly. As a result my PB never goes into deep sleep mode anymore. The HD does seem to spin down and the display goes dim but as long as iTunes is running the display is always, at least partially, illuminated.
Is there any way to sleep the display fully without putting the remainder of the PB into deep sleep which would interrupt my internet radio stream?
    Thanks

Now, If you want to turn off the screen as well, you can just use the energy saver pref pane in system preferances. Here you will see the option of "set display to sleep after X min" And set computer to sleep after X min.

  • Turning off Macbook Air Display when using External Display on Lion

I had been searching the web and the community forums here for a few hours and finally figured out how to turn off the display on my Macbook Air 2011 running lion and using an external monitor.
With Snow Leopard all you had to do was plug in the external monitor to your MBA then close the lid and wake up the MBA while it was closed. Then you could open up the lid and it would stay off so it would have better air flow and wouldn't get too hot and run the fan all the time.
But ever since Lion, they screwed that up for us.
But after all my searching I finally found someone here give the fix on a MBA.
All you need to do is use a little magnet and put it where the MBA
Special thanks to ronaldfromjakarta and wv636 for giving the answers and workaround until Apple fixes this oversight
"I found a solution for this.. my solution is to put a fridge magnet directly right to the return key (about 2 cm away from the right usb port)... so the laptop thinks the lid is closed and so the display is off.. lol.. try it.. it works.."
You can read more about others using this here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3192733?start=0&tstart=0
In this example I used a big yellow magnet just to test it out, but I will be using a small thin magnet for regular use so that it wont mess up my screen if I accidentally close the lid on it.
Also I put a small piece of paper between the magnet and my MBA so that I wont scratch my MBA.
Some will also ask if it is safe to use a magnet on your MBA etc. You are only placing a magnet where the magnet from the lid would go anyway's. Just make sure you don't use a super magnet or something and you should be all good ;-)
    Here are the image examples:
    MBA is powered on
    MBA is now asleep
Just place the magnet right next to the "Enter/ Return" key
(Note: I used a small piece of paper under the magnet to protect from scratching my MBA)

    I also made a video
