Turn off email or turn off email alert sounds

I was wondering if there is a way for the Black Berry program to send emails only during a certain time period. I’d like to stop them at about 10:00 PM and start back at about 7:00 AM if it can. But still get calls a text messages.

do you have emails set up via BES or BIS?  depending on device you can go to options and then network and set data service to OFF and turn it back in the morning, this can be done only manually, cant specify time.

  • The text/email/alerts sound volume has gone right down on my iPhone 4

The text/email/alerts sound volume has gone right down on my iPhone 4, but the ringtone volume is still loud! Adjusting the volume in "Settings" only changes the ringer volume, I just can't find a way to increase the alerts volume! Help please!!!

    Hi ecsands,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To "Choose alert sounds, adjust the alert volume, or turn vibrate on or off: Go to Settings > Sounds."
For more information, see Pg. 28 - 29 of the iPhone User Guide:

If adjusting the volume doesn't help, see the "Acoustic-speaker/microphone/receiver" section of this article for some troubleshooting steps:

  • IPod touch email alert sound - any way to turn it OFF?

The "settings > sounds" is no longer available in 2.0 update, so can't figure out how to get it to stop beeping after it checks for and loads new mail. Any ideas? thanks J.

Okay, my iPod touch does the same thing. And one more more odd thing; when I receive an email while listening to music, the music volume dips, there's an odd sound in the background, and then the volume picks up again. This happens every time I receive an email. The only way I have figured to stop it at this point is to get into Settings, then General, then Sound Effects. If you turn off Sound Effects, I believe that you stop the audible mail alert. However, when you so that, you also turn off the clicky sounds when you type on the screen keyboard. Annoying.

  • Email alert sounds on my iPhone?

I just got an iPhone4S.  I have four email addresses.  Can each email address be set up with a separate alert sound?

    Sadly, you cannot.

  • Email Alert Sounds - Multiple Sounds

Can you assign different alert sounds for separate email accounts on the 4s?  I have two different email accounts on my iPhone.  I would like to set a different sound for each account.  Is this possible?

You used to be able to do this in a previous iOS version.  I know it used to be possible because my iPhone is set up that way right now.  As a matter of fact I just submitted a question asking how I can change the sound played for one of my accounts because the current sound is grating on my nerves.  Why did Apple take that function away?  I am hoping it was just an over sight and not intentional.  If it was intentional - that was a horrible decision on someone's part and they need to re-instate that function in the next iOS update.

  • Still no email alert sounds after re-install from scratch NASTY BUG

Just after a few days, I lost my e-mail alert sound again. I am reviving my last post that was suddenly archived.
I have a really good tech person, and he is really puzzled, just said a definite NASTY BUG in the OS.

  • Add custom message/email alert sounds (not ringtones)

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to add custom sounds so that they can be used as message alerts? I can add ringtones without any problems but cannot seem to access sounds stored in 'My Ringtones' so that they can be used with alerts.
    Many thanks

Hi, many thanks for your response. I don't have the option to manage all of the sounds - if I access it via Start>Settings>Sounds, it lists the functions thus:
    Ring tone:
    Reminders:
    New email:
    New text message:
    etc
and each has a sideways scrolling list, but only the 'Ring tone' option shows up the custom audio files stored in 'My Ringtones'.
I am not sure how to search the OS to find sounds that are prefixed with "Alert", as if I can find the folder where they are stored, perhaps I can add more. Is there a Search function in Windows Mobile 6?

  • Email alert sound is sporadic

I'm on the 4S, and it seems that when I get an email (mobileme), only sometimes does it make an audible sound. And, sometimes the sound is louder at times than other times. Yes, I have sounds enabled, as well as vibrate, and I see the notification on the lockscreen, but sometimes no sound.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

No, they can't be changed presently. You can suggest this to Apple here:

  • Email Alert Sound working only sometimes...

I just got my iPhone on Friday. I have the new mail alert switched to ON, but when the phone is in "sleep" mode, it doesn't make the sound, it just vibrates. I don't know if this is supposed to be normal, but I cant figure it out. All the other alerts seem to work fine. doesn't anyone know what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

I couldn't have asked that any better - I have been wondering the same thing since Thursday. I have looked around and can't figure it out either. Anyone with advice - I'd love some direction.

If you just have personal (using BIS), you can setup messages filters on your carrier's BIS website.
If you're on a BES you'll have the choice on the device to filter your corporate emails (under Messages | Options | Email Filters). Personal emails will still be done from your carrier's website.

  • Not getting email alert after shutting phone off

    Hi,
I have a LG Alley. Ususally leave the phone on 24/7 but I've noticed that when I do shut it off and then turn back on my email alert sound doesn't work. I double check the settings and they are there. Eventually, after some time, the alert sounds do work. Anyone know why the alert sound doesn't just kick back in when the phone is turned on?

I have a similar issue, except with a few quirks.
My alert settings are set to make a noise and vibrate when I get a text. My silent switch is set to 'normal'. Sometimes, randomly, when I get a text, it will not make a noise; the screen lights up and shows the message, and then after a short delay it will vibrate.
Similarly, I think I've noticed in silent mode, it sometimes just lights up and doesn't vibrate (which it is set to)
    Any ideas?

  • Shutting off email alerts!!!

I just installed the most recent updates to my Droid X. Many things have changed & I'm still trying to figure them out. MOST IRRITATING is the constant alert/music with every email being received. This is happening throughout the day and all night long. I haven't had any success in turning the alerts off. Before the update, I only received a text alert which was great! HOW DO I TURN OFF THE EMAIL ALERT/SOUND? I need some uninterrupted sleep!

Email alerts are managed in the email APP that you are using. Which email APP do you have?  I use YAHOO - there is an option in Yahoo Email / Email SETTINGS  / Notifications  -  change Select Ringtone to "SILENT" ...

  • How to shorten the email alert time on iPhone 5s

How can I reduce the shortets email alert sound which is 15min on iPhone 5s?

Yes, I now notice that gmail account has no "push"...that's where the problem is! I have a second account but I forwarded it to gmail too, so no alerts at all under the 15min for both accounts! I do regret my BB on this matter..!
Strnage I don't have the problem on my iPad2 with same settings..
Thanks for help Wjosten, I will try to sort out things. Nice week-end.

  • New Email Notification Sound

    Hi,
These Apple devices are getting a little popular. At my workplace I always hear the same old "ding" everytimes someone gets an email so a number of us reach for our devices to see which one it was for.
We are up to iOS4 so I imagine it is a choice to not allow configurable notification sounds. What possible (sensible) reason can there be?! It isn't exactly a complext feature.
The renowned Apple consistancy in operation is good but not for notifications. thats just confusing.

You can change your email alert sounds through the use of a free app. Download Boxcar from the app store, and have it alert you when an email arrives with one of its sounds. You can then turn off the email received sound in the settings on the iPad.
We do this in my house with 3 iphones and 2 ipads constantly dinging. Each person has a unique email arrival sound.

  • OS4: Can I change the incoming email notification sound???

OS4: Can I change the incoming email notification sound???
I installed OS4 but still cant seem to.
HOW CAN I CHANGE MY INCOMING EMAIL ALERT SOUND???

Apparantly Apple have yet to realize that people like to customize their handsets.
I had an HP in 2001 and it had fully customized sounds.
It also had the option of a calendar on the Wallpaper - one of the most important features of a business handset.
OS4 on IPhone and yet the only way of someone getting these important features is to JB it. This is my 3rd Iphone and I won't be getting an IPhone 4, 5 or 6 until an OS update unlocks that wallpaper for a calendar.
