Turn off "floating link tip balloon" thing

Is it possible to turn OFF the floating yellow box link tips things?
I mean, the yellow boxes that pop up like "tool tips" when mousing over a link. I find them a bit intrusive; like a fat kitty, they plant themselves right on top of whatever I'm reading and just don't go away.
I cannot find a preference setting... is it the kind of thing a custom style sheet might control? I just want them to go away.
Thanks!

AEChadwick,

  • Turning off "help dialog" tip boxes

O.k., I've been a Mac guy since 2001 and am relatively proficient. However, whenever I rest the cursor over an area on an application the little yellow tip box appears and I cannot figure out how to turn it off. I'm not sure how long it has been doing it, it is just now getting real annoying.

Hi,Percheron 1, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try this link.. http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/macosxhints/2007/07/safaritips/index.php .. which will show you how turn off the yellow tips boxes, firstly for Safari, then it leads you to turn them off for all apps. Changing the delay time before they appear may be all you need, hope this helps.

  • How to turn off floating interface on mac version adobe cs5?

How can I turn off floating interface on mac version adobe cs5? It is very hard and confusing to work with the new interface and I want a gray (relaxing) background as it was in earlier versions for Windows.
I do not want to see the desktop while working in Photoshop...
    Thank You!

For most applications you can enable the application frame. Look under the Windows menu.

How do I turn off the floating command windows in 10.5.8?
    Thank you

    HI,
Macworld published a terminal command that stopped all help windows from being floating windows.
Do you mean if you clicked on another window the "floater" would move behind?

  • How can I turn off the blue tips that pop up every time I start Adobe Reader?

Every time I start Adobe Reader XI, or every time I double-click a PDF file from another program, a blue bubble pops up under the "Open" portion of the toolbar that says "Easily open all your files across devices" and I cannot make it stop.
    I have:
    - Unchecked "Show me messages when I launch Reader" in Preferences/General/Messages form Adobe
    - Checked "Don't show messages while reviewing a document" in Preferences/General/Messages form Adobe
How can I make this stop displaying?
    Thanks.

This was strange.  To be honest, I had never clicked the large "open" folder icon on the left of the toolbar.  Once I did it showed me three options: Recent Files, My Computer, and Acrobat.com Files (cloud storage).
After actually looking at this feature, and then closing and opening Acrobat Reader again, the blue pop-up does not appear anymore.  I closed and opened Acrobat Reader several times and it does not appear anymore.  Apparently, it's a prompt to get you to look at the feature and prompts you until you do.  I'm not sure why it does not appear on your screen.  Perhaps a feature that is available only to "newer" versions of Windows (7+)?
I appreciate your help.  Thank you.

  • PSE8 Organizer: Turning off "tips & tricks"

Is it possibe to disable this annoying thing that slides in from the lower right in the Organizer? It's more than annoying...it slows down an already slow program. Until this little app does its thing, I cannot do anything in the Organizer. I'd like to turn it off in the Editor also.
I'm desparate enough to hack the register if necessary (Windows 7 Home Premium)!
    Thanks,
    Tom

What I meant was, subsitute "8.0" for "7.0" in the instructions, that is:
[PSE 7, 8?] Turn off the flashing “tips” on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods (Vista, Windows 7)
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods (XP)
to deny “Read & execute” for Everyone. (You may to change the settings of Windows Explorer to view hidden files.)
The warning above about “IPOD_” files applies here as well.
Edit: Changed 7.0 to 8.0 in the instructions.

  • How to turn off email and web site links?

I'm making my own letterhead template for my massage business.
I want to turn off the automatic linking to my email address and web site which are both included on my letterhead. It's just annoying that every time I accidentally click on either of those I'm taken to my web site or my computer is trying to email me!
I only snail mail my letterhead and have no use for the linking. I can change the type format so it looks like the rest of the letterhead, but I can't turn off the linking.
    Paul

There is an option under Preferences > Auto-Correction to "Automatically detect email and web addresses." You want that one unchecked. There is also a link inspector, second from the right, with options to enable hyperlinks or make all hyperlinks inactive. Seems contradictory to me & I've found that if a document already has some linked text, changing these preferences doesn't change the existing links. And, if you paste in something with a link the link will still be active.

  • I'm worried because when charging my ipad it turned off so when I put in the charger the apple things came on then the loading sign it does that over and over agin .

Im worried now because my iPad when it was charging and it had like 3% then it turned off so I put in the charger , the battery thing came on , then shortly after the apple popped up , after that the loading thing came on and it has been doing that for the past 5 minutes and when I take off the charger it totally turns off . What do you thing is wrong  with the iPad ?

    Hello Stephaniee.martinez
The best thing to do is to wait it out to see if it will get passed the Apple logo with progress bar. If it does not, then what you will need to do is put your iPad into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. Check out the articles below for more information.

  • PSE 7 Welcome Screen startup options and turning off the advertising

The PSE 7 Welcome Screen no longer provides a start-up option for bypassing it and going directly to the Organizer or Editor. In addition, many people are annoyed by the advertising for Photoshop.com on the Welcome Screen and by the constant flashing tips in the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor.
    Here are some workarounds:
Create shortcuts directly to the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to
    > C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0
Find the file PhotoshopelementsEditor.exe, right-click it, and select Create Shortcut. You can then drag the shortcut to your desktop or the Start Menu. Alternatively, you can right click photoshopelementseditor.exe and click Pin To Start Menu, which will place a shortcut on the Windows Start menu. Do the same thing for the file PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe.
Turn off the advertising on the Welcome Screen. By turning off the advertising, you can still use the Welcome Screen to get to the Organizer, the Editor, Photoshop.com, and the tutorials. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    >C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Welcome Screen Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone (The path is a little different on XP.)
Turn off the flashing tips on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    >C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone. (The path is a little different on XP.)

    You said -----------
Turn off the flashing tips on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods to deny Read & execute for Everyone. (The path is a little different on XP.)
I am using XP and the path to the folder is as follows:
    C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
However, I can't figure out how to "set the permissions". Is this possible in XP? Could someone please elaborate.
I am only interested in changing the tips (in the lower right corner that lead you to photoshop.com) in the Editor, since I do not use the Welcome Screen or Organizer.
    Thanks,
    Ken

  • ITunes 11.0.4 is shuffling music even when shuffle is turned off

Grrrr. This is really driving me nuts.
I'm using 11.0.4 on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.8.4).
iTunes will shuffle the music I'm playing even when shuffle is turned off. It will finish track 1 of an album (for example) and then go to 9. or 11. or 7.
What the heck is going on??

    Hi Allen
Many thanks for the links, although i was aware of the sleep proxy and its uses. The problem i'm having does seem to be related to this, although the key difference between what i am (or was) experiencing is the definition of 'occasionally' as mentioned on the page you linked to.
What i was experiencing was the mac mini would go to sleep then 60 second later it would stir, as if being woken to reregister its services with the sleep proxy, then it would go back to sleep. Then around 60 seconds later it would do this again, and so on and so forth until it was fully woken in one way or another.
Now i do seem to have made progress after digging around a little further. I did figure out that it was a bonjour service/ or device that was causing the mac mini to stir And as i mentioned in my previous message this behaviour would cease if itunes was closed or home sharing was turned off. So the only thing on the network that was connected to this was my 2 apple TVs. As a test i unplugged both boxes and put the mini to sleep again. Then i waited and waited and the mini stayed soundly asleep.
I have since plugged the 2 ATVs back in, one at a time, and the mini now seems to be sleeping for around an hour before it wakes, presuming to do the sleep proxy service thingo.
i'm just running another test to prove to myself that it is actually back to a more normal state with both ATVs plugged in, so fingers crossed.
if anyone knows, does this now sound like a normal setup with the way the sleep proxy works?
i suppose i should have done this at the start, but i have 1 airport extreme, and 2 ATVs (and few ipads, iphones and the like all onthe network), if that helps.
    Leigh
