Turn off font preview in PS CC 2014?

I'm attempting to troubleshoot performance issues with Photoshop and one thing I am seeing in Adobe's FAQs is that I should be able to turn off font previews in the preferences in the Type preference panel. However, I am not seeing that option. Has this been removed or moved elsewhere in PS CC 2014 or is it no longer considered a relevant performance tweak... or is something wrong with my install? Screenshot:
My version of Photoshop is 2014.1.0 / 20140730.r.148 x64
Running on Mac OS X 10.9.4
iMac 3.5GHz i7, 32GB RAM, 6TB RAID 0, 1TB startup SSD
PS. The issue I am actually troubleshooting (if anyone reading this has any insight) is that large doc sizes (~100MB) with many layers (both vector and type) have become largely unusable as minor edits such as resizing or moving a layer results in beachball for upwards of 20-30 seconds with the Console reporting that Photoshop has been "caught burning CPU!" (exclamation point is Apple's, not mine). Anyway, sounds naughty. Hardware tests have come up empty so I am revisiting my otherwise unchanged settings to see if I can fix the issues.
Thanks in advance for any advice or thoughts!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... in the Type MENU, not the preferences... Thanks!

  • How do I turn off font preview in Photoshop CC2014

Though I can see that the font preview on the fonts selector could be useful, I dislike that is has been forced upon us. It slows things down, and I don't need to preview the fonts.
Is there any way to turn this off please?

    Hi Andrew,
A lot of users requested for this feature, that is why it was implemented in CC2014 version.
You can revert to Photoshop CC version as there is no way right now to turn of the font preview.
Thank you for posting on Adobe Forums.

  • Turn off icon preview on all folders?

Looking for a good way to turn off icon previews on all folders, especially on a networked drive.
If I open a folder and choose View > Show View Options, I can turn off the icon previews for that folder, but the others remain unchanged. (Even if I push the use as defaults button)
Is there a script to command that I can run to change this on all folders recursively?

  • Way To Turn off mpeg preview in Finder?

I have mpeg videos that are close to 4 gigs in size. Whenever I select "get info" to find out the file size, it hangs the computer for about 2 minutes as it tries to load the video in the preview area.. Anyway to turn off this preview function?

Try opening an info window on some other file and click on the triangular icon next to the preview header to close the preview. Finder should remember this pref next time round.

works ok on mine - (5, 7.1.1).  Try again.  with previews set to none, mine shows the sender and the subject line only.  (you cannot get rid of the subject)    with the other settings, you get the sender, subject line and however many lines you selected.

I have turned off email preview in settings, however the preview still remains.

  • How do I turn off the preview pane in Mail

I am trying to turn off the preview pane in Mail - ultimate goal is to stop have mail mark a message as read just because I scrolled over it.  I don't want a message marked as read unless I actually open the mail item.
fond this thread continually in earlier discussions from 2009-2011 - but othing more recent.  Surely this has been fixed by now.
    Thanks

Drag the divider between the message list and the preview pane all the way to the right. It will pause about a 3/4 of the way, but keep dragging and it will go all the way over.

    Hey DogJoey,
You can adjust the preview window or completely hide it by dragging the separator all the way to the right. For more information take a look at the article below. It will be for OS X Yosemite, but will be the same for OS X Mavericks.

  • Turning Off Font Substitution

How do I turn off font substitution on my HP PSC 1110 Printer? There is no place on my computer to do this.My printer prints out differently than what I see on my monitor and I looked up the info on this and directions told me to "turn off font substitution " and "download as soft font".I am running Windows XP Home Edition and I cannot find any place on the computer to set these options. Can anyone please tell me how I can do this so my printer will print the same as what I see on my monitor?

Well they did get it correct, except they are now using Open Type to do so, It works very well with Open Type which gives you a lot of options for this support as well.
And it is probably not going to happen for Type 1 as i=they are not made and had more problems then does Open Type.

  • How do I completely turn off font smoothing on my MacBook pro?

I am at a loss. I've seen dozens of people complain about this, but I'm still hoping there's a solution: How do I turn off font smoothing on my MacBook pro? I've toggled the anti-aliasing options every which way, and no matter what I do, the text is always slightly blurry (there's always a slight halo of grey around the characters to smooth them out). This would be the perfect computer if I could just turn that dang feature off completely, but as it is it's so hard on my eyes I can't use it for reading or writing for any extended period.

DigiLloyd posted some aditional info on this subject, here:
"Apple abandoned useful font smoothing user interface support in Mac OS X Leopard for a “moron setting” in Mac OS X Snow Leopard, leaving those with non-Apple displays high and dry with unattractive text display.
You’ll need to use Terminal to set things right (or at least better, which is not to say optimal)."

  • How can I turn off the preview (overview) automatically executed when I launch Image Capture?

I love using Image Capture, but every time I launch it, it automatically does a previes of my scanner's flatbed.  Most of the time, I don't use the flatbed.  I use the feeder to scan multiple pages.
My question is this:  Is there any way to turn off the automatic preview (overview) that Image Capture executes when it's launched?
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!

    Not a direct answer.
    From Image Capture Help:
Scan pages with a document-feeding scanner
When you scan a document with a document-feeding scanner, the same settings are used for all the pages in the feeder. If your pages need different settings (for example, some are grayscale and some are color), separate them into different groups.
Before you begin these steps, you need to open your scanner. For instructions, see one of these help topics:
    Scan an image
Scan an image with Image Capture
    Scan an image with Preview
Place the pages in the scanner’s document feeder.
Turn on the Use Document Feeder option, if it’s present.
Set scanning options. You may need to click Show Details to see all the available options. Here are some of the options you can set. The options available to you depend on the scanner you’re using. Some options aren’t available on all scanners, and some scanners may have more options.
To choose the type of image being scanned, use the Kind pop-up menu.Choose Text for black-and-white images with high contrast, such as text. Choose Black & White for grayscale images. Choose Color for color images.
To scan both sides of a page, select Duplex.
To choose a size for the scanned image, use the Size pop-up menu.
To choose where to save the scanned images, use the Scan To pop-up menu.If you choose a folder, the images are stored in that folder. If you choose an app, the images are opened with that app.
To adjust the colors or exposure of the scanned image, choose Manual from the Image Correction pop-up menu, and adjust the controls. If you don’t see the image correction controls, scroll down or make the Scanner window taller.
Click Scan. The scanner scans the pages one by one.

  • Turning off Image Preview in Mail.app

Hello, my computer is reasonably fast, but another one that I use (also on leopard) is an older mac Mini and its really slow. Unfortunately it really gets really slow when someone sends me an image file and the preview kicks in.
Is there any way to turn off preview in Mail.app?
If I really want to see a darn image I can always just d/l it and open it through finder....
    Thanks

Unfortunately this preference is already turned off.
Another instance of this same is when I attach an image file to my files and send it off. I don't need to see what's on my pdf when I email it out, I just want to see the icon to know its attached to the message.
