Turn off HTML e-mail

HTML e-mail is all very well but, when abroad, it would be much more convenient (not to say cheaper) if my iPhone only received the text content of the e-mail (no formatting, no images, nothing except a link to the download if required). Is it possible to enable this function? Or am I going to have to return my iPhone and go back to my Blackberry in order to save money? Or is Apple going to enable this function in the next update (if it doesn't exist already)?

It is not possible, so return your iPhone to Apple.

  • Can't turn off computer because mail won't quit

Can't turn off computer because mail interupts shut down. I can force quit, but nothing happens. literally.

I'm also using Apple Mail with a POP account and Exchange as well.
One easy thing to try first is to Rebuild the Mail boxes, choose each Inbox in sequence and go to the Mailbox Menu > Reubild
Do this for the POP account Mailbox and the Exchange in that order. Try quitting Apple Mail and see what happens.
Reading this also led me to do a Google Search on Apple Mail hang on quit. Which led me to this message in the Discussion Group:
    From Member: BDAqua
First I'd backup your whole Mail folder. Try trashing this file first, then logout/in... /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist If that doesn't work try the .plists in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/
So what you want to do to first backup your email is this:
    http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_back_and_restore_mail_lion
Follow the steps 1 & 2 to create backups of the mail boxes.
Then go to the Desktop > Go Menu > (hold down Option Key) choose Library > Preferences > (look for com.apple.mail.plist) drag it to the trash
Logout of your Mac, Log back in. Start Mail see if it hangs on quit
If that fails o to the Desktop > Go Menu > (hold down Option Key) choose Library > Mail > MailData > (there are .plists in here to that could be causing issues). *WARNING: Make sure to have all your account settings written down in advance of trashing these .plists. You want everything written down in case you have type it ALL in again once these .plists are eliminated.

  • How do you turn off Verizon voice mail?

I have an answering machine, I would like to turn off Verizon voice mail so that all unanswered calls go directly to my answering machine.  The tech that installed my service said it was possible, but the directions he gave me led to a dead end.  Does anyone know how to turn off Verizon voice mail?  Is there a way to do this on-line or via the telephone (without having to contact a representative)?

Since the Verizon Voicemail will answer calls to you number when you are using your phone, a second incoming call to your number while your own answering machine is taking a message WILL BE forwarded the the Verizon Voicemail system --possibly giving you recorded messages in 2 places. Note that each increase in the ring count will add 6 seconds to the amount of time it takes to forward the call to the Verizon Voicemail system.
If you really don't what the  Verizon Voicemail system which can handle multiple calls simultanteously (something you own answering machine cannot do), your only option is to phone Verizon's business office and request that they remove the Verizon Voicemail service from your line.

  • Turn off animations in Mail

    Hi,
is there any way to turn off the animations when sending a mail in Mail?
    Any help is appreciated!

Your design and animations copy the gmail style. Why should i go with apple, if i like google. Than i probably will go with android. Your os6 mail design was more asketic but perfecly balanced.
Give option to return to os6, please.
I do not need another phone looking lije iphone.
Many people like me just do not have time and will to s.it in forums like this.
But there is no one that told me he likes os7 better than os6.
    Fairly.

  • How can I turn off the New Mail alert on my iPod Touch?

I have an iPod Touch (version 6.1.3). The other day I was waiting for an important e-mail, so I  turned on the New Mail alert. It worked fine. Now I want to turn it off, but  I can't. I went into Settings and then to Sounds and changed the selection from the sound I'd selected ("Bell") to None. It says "None" but every time I get a new e-mail, it still makes the bell sound.
I also tried going into Notifications and then to New Mail Sound and setting it to "None" but that didn't change anything
    Any ideas what I'm missing?
    Thanks!

Try removing the mail totally from your notifications center.
I have everything turned off and the banner set to none.

  • Turn off suggestions in mail?

Why does the "suggestions" function in mail force-override what I want to type? I wanted to write "walk today" as an event title and mail removes the word today. Why can't I have "today" in an event title? My only other option is to make it an all-day event, which isn't what I want, either. I looked through the systems preferences for any way to turn off suggestions in general or specifically in mail, but I can't find it. Is it in an "advanced" popup somewhere?
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks Eric, but sadly--it wasn't. Everything else is, but not text replacement.
But you know what I only now realized--my original complaint was with Calendar, not Mail. I cannot explain why I submitted this question against Mail, except maybe because they seem to get lumped together. I don't see anything in the Calendar menu about substitutions.
I don't suppose there's any way to delete this post, but I'll go submit this question against Calendar. Thanks for your help, Eric, you showed me something I hadn't noticed, but sorry to waste your time.

  • 1 Mail Rule automatically turns off upon launching Mail

I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.4) from Tiger. I moved the "Mail" & "Mail Downloads" folders, as well as the "com.apple.mail.plist" preference file, from the old system into the new one in the appropriate user folder. I also rebuilt all the mailboxes once this was done. So far, everything's there and functioning great with one exception.
The problem I am having is that every time I launch Mail, there is 1 mail rule which is turned off upon launching, forcing me to manually turn it on. It stays on until I quit the program, and the next time I launch it's off again.
I use about 25 rules total, and none of the other rules display this behavior.
Am I missing something obvious here?
    Thanks in advance!

I have exactly the same problem. I have moved from a G5 with Leopard to a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. I have about 8 rules, one of which turns off after I quit and then launch again. I have tried to recreate that rule manually and it still occurs. I think I'm going to fill out a bug report.

  • How do I turn off ALLnotifications for mail

I have an iPhone 5S. It is running ios7. I just added my email account today to "Mail." I cannot turn off notifications.  The alert style is set to None. The Badge App Icon is slid to off. The app is in the "Do Not Include" section in Notifications. The alert type is set to "vibrate only" ONLY because there is NO OTHER OPTION!  I want NOTHING!  No alerts at all! No sound no vibrate no nothing.
WHY WHY WHY i there not an option for "None" on the vibration setting.  You will be my hero if you can (honestly) tell me I am missing something and how to fix it.  I am a very light sleeper; the vibration, even "quick" will bother me. PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you just referring to while you are sleeping? You can use the Do Not Disturb function that will only let phone calls through from favorites if that is what you are worried about.
Or, for what you are talking about, when you go to Settings>Sounds>New Mail>one selection is for Vibration. Click on that and then scroll down to the bottom and None is a choice.

  • How do I turn off autocorrect in Mail?

In Mail, I would like to turn off autocorrect, which makes me say many ridiculous things! How do I do that? I've looked and looked and can't figure it out. Thanks!

    Hello there Centime,
It sounds like you are wanting to turn off the spelling correction feature in the Mail application. You should be able to do that with these steps from the following article:
OS X Yosemite: Check spelling and grammar
For a specific app: In the app, choose Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Correct Spelling Automatically (it’s off when a checkmark isn’t shown).
For all apps: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, click Text, then deselect the “Correct spelling automatically” checkbox.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
