Turn off iCloud in iTunes 11 Library?

I recently upgraded to iTunes 11 and am somewhat disapointed with the results. The new features are great, however, one annoys me very. Is there a way to turn off iCloud in my music library? My music library is now flooded with tracks that I want nothing to do with. Please help.

Go to Prefs>Store, uncheck Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases
If you still see them:
Go to your music, then View>Hide iTunes in the cloud.
Select each of your media types in kind (Movies, TV Shows, etc.) and go to View>Hide iTunes in the cloud
To further decouple your library from the Store/Cloud:
Go to Store>Turn Off iTunes Match and Turn Off Genius.
Go to Prefs>General, uncheck Genius
Go to Prefs>Store, uncheck Sync playback info, Automatically download album artwork, share info with Apple

  • Can't turn off iCloud in iTunes on MacBook running 10.6.8

I can't turn off my wifes iCloud in iTunes on her MacBook that is running 10.6.8. I have read that that way to tun this off is to go to the iCloud icon but this isn't available on 10.6.8. So how do I fix this issue? She can only get access to 50 songs and not her whole library.

Your question makes no sense, given the issue you describe.
But iTunes cloud function is under the iTunes menu >> preferences >> store.
If you mean iTunes match, that's under the store menu.

  • How do i turn off icloud in itunes

i dont want icloud turned on in the most recent update of itunes. can it be turned off.

Do you mean so you won't see items in the cloud, that aren't currently downloaded, but are showing in your library?
If so, itunes menu >> preferences >> store >> show itunes in the cloud purchases.

  • Can I turn off iCloud on iTunes so my library can be custom?

I just want to be able to put my own choice of music on my iTunes library without having it full with every purchase I've ever made. I only want selected albums on this PC I'm using, having ALL my music just there annoys me. Can it be changed?

You can hide purchased music as explained here: iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support and it will no longer appear.  You can also hide all your "iTunes in the Cloud" music in iTunes by going to Edit>Preferences>Store and unchecking "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases".  (If you don't see the Edit menu, you may need to reveal it as explained here: iTunes: Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7 - Apple Support.)

  • Updated my iMac to mountain lion, had iCloud problems so I turned off iCloud. Then my software updates stopped coming through.  Turned iCloud back on but still not getting updates even when checking manually.  Help   Greg0954

I updated my imac to osx mountain lion.  Had trouble with icloud affecting my itunes so I turned off iclouds.
Then my automatic software updates stopped coming through.  Even when I check for them manually by
clicking on software update it acts like it's checking for about one second then says "no updates available".
It's been months since I've got any updates,  used to get them every week or two.
Could turning off icloud have affected the necessary contacts ?  Please help,
                                                         Greg0954

I think all these problems are related, but might try this fo SWUPD...
If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.lockfile

  • TS3988 How do I turn off iCloud and go back to the way I had it before?

I am unhappy with iCloud for a number of reasons. I want to go back to backing up my music to an external HD, storing music on my devices, and turn off iCloud.
How do I turn off iCloud? I have iTunes on a PC.
    THANKS

Current Firefox versions remember the download directory based upon the URL, so if the URL changes then the default folder may be chosen if there hasn't been selected a download folder before for that server.

Bug 536503 - Last downloaded-to directory should be remembered on a site-by-site basis
Firefox 11 will have a workaround by providing a pref (browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite) to disable this feature.

  • I simply want to know how to turn off iCloud* without losing my contacts

Call me old fashioned, but I really do NOT want to use iCloud EXCEPT for ONE THING*: and that's to find my phone, ipad or laptop if it goes missing.
Having said that, I have figured out how to turn off icloud on my ipad and my iphone (I am not using the phone as a phone, just as a glorified ipod) while keeping the "find my ipad/iphone" function active, BUT
I can't quite figure out how to do it on my laptop.
I seem to have done it already for photos, and for the calendar, (I know this from checking iCloud to see what it's got) but just cannot figure out how to turn it off for contacts.
And YES, I've backed up all of those things at LEAST 3 different ways, I just don't want the Cloud to be one of them.
So can anyone tell me how to turn off contacts in the cloud without it also magically deleting them in my laptop? (I had it happen on the ipad, that's why I'm worried.)
Thank you for understanding-I'm older and this stuff just keeps getting more complicated and I'm a simple person. I'll back up my own stuff!

If you are refering to documents such as Pages and Numbers files....
The only way around this is to "save as" you icloud documents using the associated app to a local folder on your mac.  Then turn off icloud.
Of course, when you sign off of icloud, the docs are removed from the mac, but remain in icloud.  In the future when you sign back in, the documents are available to you again.
Oh, and the icloud documents are also stored locally in ...
    ~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolder where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
You can move these files to another folder to save them.

I am having same issue on my iPhone 5s. Whenever i am trying login to iCloud from my device setting it's asking for apple id password & every time showing incorrect password verification failed but in fact the password is correct.
When trying to restore my iPhone from my PC iTunes backup it's asking to turn off Find my iPhone from the device iCloud setting. When i am going to turn it off from device iCloud setting it's asking for apple id password then a notification showing "verification failed, the connection to iCloud timed out.
I never faced this on any other iOS version other than iOS 8/8.0.2
    Very disappointing iOS

  • I have taken off/turned off iCloud on my mac mini but when I write an email   and use contacts it will convert a non iCloud email to and iCloud email automatically.  I really don't want this. Any way to stop this automatic conversion?

I have taken off/turned off iCloud on my mac mini (OS 10.8) but when I send an email and use contacts , it will convert the non - iCloud email to an iCloud email automatically.  Anyway to stop this automatic conversation?

    Robert...
the iCloud webserver wont accept my password for a .mac login, nor will it allow me to change it
See if you can change your password >  Apple - My Apple ID
If that doesn't help, launch iTunes on your computer.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK.
    Restart your computer.
    If that that doesn't help...
Moreover, when I try to go into my .mac account on the web,
Delete all apple cookies and empty your browser cache.
See if  you can access your account at iCloud.com

how can I turn off icloud so that I can continue to synch my iphone to Window Contacts

    Hi
I looked an no such option exists there is only 4 options
    1. open itunes when phone is connected

    3. convert higher bit rate
    4. manually manage music and ...
I never had this problem before I loaded this new version of itunes

  • ICloud I do not want to share some documents in the cloud.  I f I turn off iCloud it says I will delete everything already there. How do I know what is already in the cloud

iCloud I do not want to share some documents in the cloud.  I f I turn off iCloud it says I will delete everything already there. How do I know what is already in the cloud

Thank you.  When I go into system preferences, then iCloud, then manage, it does not let me view what is there only says:  ex: The documents stored inside Pages take up 623.3KB and gives me the option to: Delete Documents and Data.  It does not let me see what files are there.   I think it is time for me to go back to my apple store and get more acquainted with iCloud and storage and how to manage it.  I had some issues with my mac about a month ago after downloading an updated version.  The issue was related to syncing, iCloud, iTunes, calendar and storage.  I am nervous about loosing more documents, photos, etc..from my Mac.  Thank you for the information.

  • How can i recover my photos if i restored my phone but turned off icloud backup?

how can i recover my photos if i restored my phone but turned off icloud backup?

Do you have any backup at all for your device? If you do, then you can restore from that backup and get any photos that were on it. If you have imported your photos to your computer, you can sync them back to your device via an iTunes sync. If you had Photo Stream turned on, you can recover your Photo Stream for the last 30 days or 1000 photos on that Photo Stream (whichever comes first) by signing onto the iCloud account that the Photo Stream was turned on for.
