  • Can i turn off imessage from a pc?

i was temporarily using my son's iphone while i was waiting from my new Droid to come in.  I didn't turn off imessage before i deactivated my apple ID and now i don't always receive texts from iphone users.  i read somewhere to log back into my Apple ID and then turn off imessage before logging off again.  Changing Apple IDs from mine back to my son's ID after i got my Droid took HOURS on my son's phone.  I would like to just find a way to do it from a PC instead of on his iphone.  is this possible?

You can't do it from your PC, but Apple support can uregister your number with iMessage for your.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5185.

Apples instructions are to contact support if you don't have access to the device: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5185
I would use the following support link in order to avoid the need for a serial number: https://www.apple.com/support/appleid/contact/

TechCrunch posted a solution today that applies to this problem, I think.
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Click your old iPhone and "unregister" it.

    Hi,
Do you mean you are not getting SMS text messages now ?
    If so start here
Follow the Account management options until you are offered and email contact.
Explain the issue via email as only someone in Support can now remove your iPhone Number from iMessages if it has not "de-registered" itself correctly.

You can try the following on your friends phone:
    1.  Remove the contact card
    2. Then turn off iMessage and then back on again
    3. Go to Messages and compose a new message
    4. Press +.  This will make a list of recent contacts pop up.
    5. Click on the info button number of the contact you are trying to reach.
    6. Remove from Recents
    7. Try to compose another message
    8.  If the message attempts to send as blue (imessage), press on the message.
9 Option to send as SMS will appear (as long as they have SMS turned on.
    10. Repeat and rinse.
    11. Messages will start changing over to all SMS as the user will show as non-imessage user.
    Hope this helps
