Turn off iTunes match, without losing music

I want to let my iTunes Match subscription run out without losing my music. I need instructions on how to get everything I purchased on my local computer.

Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB and sync it. Or, download it from the purchase history in the iTunes app.

  • How do I turn off Itunes  match without lossing all my music

    Hi,
I had all my music on my hard drive. Then I turned om Itunes match. All the music was accesible with all the IOS devices.
    1. But playing on IOS devices during travel took almost all my download availbility amount of GB of my provider.
    2. Itunes match does not work with Sonos, so my smart playlists in itunes are not accesible by sonos
I just want took go back to the previous situation.
    a. hard downloads of music to my imac
    b. playlists accesible by sonos
    c. hand synchronizing with my IOS devices
I searched the internet to get directions to accomplish this but no joy
Can anyone on this foum give me a hand?

    Thanks for all the replies.
First of all I made a conceptual mistake. I was under the impression that if you turn om itunes matches all music would disapear from the HD of the computer because everything was in the cloud. Secondly I thought that new music bought from the itunes store would be tagged and not being fysical downloaded to the HD. Both conceptual ideas proved to be wrong. All the music is still fysical on my HD.
Turning of itunes match I can do in itunes under the store menu I found that. Do I still have to turn it off on all the mobile devices, or will turning of in the store menu suffice?

  • How do I get my purchased music back after turning off iTunes Match without having to go back through iTunes and individually download each album?

I absolutely hate iTunes Match. It is difficult to work with when it comes to music not purchased through iTunes. So I want to turn it off. How do I do and still have my purchased music through iTunes without having to go through each album/song that I've ever purchased and redownload? That would take FOREVER.

If iTunes Match is turned off, go to preferences > store>Tick box show iCloud purchases. Once done all purchased music will appear. Go to song list view, select all tracks, ctrl+click and select download from pop up.
Alternatively, go into iTunes Store > Quicklinks purchased and select not on this computer. Select download all.

  • How can I turn off itunes match on my phone without losing all my playlists?

I have itunes match but want to keep all my music on my iPhone because I travel and don't always have access to the internet.  I upgrades to ios8 and now it seems if I turn off iTunes Match in my phone it get rid of all my playlists.  How can I stop that from happening.  I want my music, and playlist on my phone.

To keep playlists on the phone, create them on the phone
To keep music on the phone, download the tracks before turning off Match.
But turning off Match isn't really necessary. Just turn off Show all music in the music app settings, or do not attempt to play a track that has a cloud icon (i.E. isn't downloaded).

  • Can I turn off iTunes match on one computer only?

I have iTunes installed on two laptops, one at home and one at school (I'm a teacher). iTunes match has worked great for my home computer and iPad, BUT...I do not want my music on the school laptop. Is there a way to turn off iTunes match on one machine only? I thought I had turned it off, but when I went to add some audio books for school it said it was adding them to iTunes match and now the books show up on all my devices.
To be clear, I want to keep iTunes match for my personal laptop and iPad, but would like to turn it off on the school laptop.

    Hi,
Yes. To turn off match Go to menu > store > and select turn off itunes match.
To turn it back on you need to turn on from same point but you will be asked to sign in and add this computer.

  • HT204406 How can I turn off iTunes match on my mac

I want to disable iTunes Match on my Macbook Pro?   How do I do that?
The main reason is bc I just want to sync all of  my music to my iPad and not have to download it from the cloud one song at a time on my iPad.

    jrhuff -
    Open iTunes
At the top menu select "Store"
Scroll down to "Turn off iTunes Match" (I've already turned mine off so it shows " Turn on iTunes Match") If your's is on, it will say, "Turn off iTunes Match"

  • HT4914 What if I change my mine can I turn off ITunes Match

Can I turn off my iTunes Match if I change my mind.

I have turn off iTunes Match in my iCloud and my Music settings. I want to download from my Mac the old school way. But when I go back to settings, iTunes Match is back on by itself. How do you turn this off????????

  • HT204406 How do I turn off iTunes match

I don't want to use it any more, and it is keeping mew from switching countries for the store. I don't care about the music in the cloud.

You don't need to turn off iTunes Match to get your content out of the cloud.

  • No option to turn off iTunes Match in IOS?!

I used iTunes Match for a while and decided now to renew my subscription, so I let it expire.
On my computer I have managed to turn off iTunes Match, but when I go to Settings>Music or Settings>iTunes on my iphone, there is no option to turn off iTunes Match! There is only an option to renew.
This is frustrating as ****, I can't load any new music onto my phone because iTunes Match is still 'on'.
I've tried singing out of my iTunes account, turning off my phone, and turning it back on, but nothing has worked.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
    Does anyone have any fixes?

Thanks. I thought I might as well mention one last thing here, in case anyone else has the same issue.
Even after I erased and restored my iPhone from the cloud backup, there was an issue. All of the songs I previously had on my iPhone (that were erased when I restored) became 'ghost files' and didn't show up in the music app. They did, however, show up in the iPhone when it was plugged into iTunes. They showed up in the iPhone music section of my iTunes, greyed out, with a little dotted circle to the left of each song. I couldn't delete them; when I did, if I unplugged my iPhone and plugged it back in to my computer the files reappeared 'greyed out' in my iPhone music.
I found the fix here (credit to Jerrill): https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5369825?tstart=0
I'll quote it here for ease:
"I downloaded one of the file explorer programs (iFunbox in my case) for my PC and deleted everything out of the "Purchases" folder on the phone's "Raw File System". After a couple of syncs with iTunes everything was back to normal. It appears that something was screwed up on the iPhone side that iTunes couldn't sort out. I don't think anything could sync from iTunes to the phone, not just the greyed out items."
So, basically, if anyone encounters the glitch in the OP, do the following:
Back up your phone to iCloud.
Erase all settings on your iPhone.
    Restore from iCloud backup.
Download a file explorer program (I used iFunbox as per Jerrill's instructions).
Delete ALL files from the 'Purchases' folder on the iPhone's 'Raw File System'.
Reset your iPhone by holding the power and home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Plug your iPhone into iTunes, and select 'Sync Music' then check 'Sync selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres'. Uncheck ALL the boxes (don't sync any music to your iPhone).
    Sync.
Unplug your iPhone and reset it again by holding the power and home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Plug your iPhone back into your computer and the ghost files should be gone.
I then unchecked 'Sync Music' then checked 'Manually manage music and videos' because I like having more control.
Now to repeat the process with my iPad... iTunes Match, never again.

  • I cant turn off itunes match on my iphone

i recently reset my iphone to factory settings. Everything seems to be set up correctly but when I try to sync music from Itunes to my Iphone it tells me Itunes match is on. On Itunes itself it says match is off. On my phone it says its on and when I toggle it off it goes right back on. Is there a way to disable itunes match altogether...it stinks.

I have turn off iTunes Match in my iCloud and my Music settings. I want to download from my Mac the old school way. But when I go back to settings, iTunes Match is back on by itself. How do you turn this off????????

  • Trying to turn off iTunes Match, stays enabled on iOS devices.

So I have had issues with playlists and such with iTM so I decided to turn it off.  Well I turn it off on my iPhone 4s/iPad 2/new iPad/iPhone 4 and on ALL of the devices NONE of them will successfully turn off iTM.  Settings > Music will show iTM disabled but when you open up the Music app you still see everything and the you can stream/download anything you want.  Here is what I have tried so far:
Disable iTunes Match everywhere (Mac Pro/iOS Devices) and no change
iOS Devices (tried all of them) settings > general > usage and delete the music usage.  Then turn off iTunes Match > reboot > open up music app, still see everything.
I am pulling my hair out and have no clue what else to try.  Thoughts anyone??   It seems strange it is happening on ALL my iOS devices...the only device that seems to work perfectly is the MacBook Air which has no music on it and just uses match.  iOS Devices though are stuck in some strange loop where I cannot turn off iTunes Match.
Running iOS 5.1 on all devices and iTunes 10.6

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately that did not work for me.  I turned off match and let it sit for over 3 hours and music never disappeared.  I made sure to turn off auto-lock so the iPhone/iPad didn't go to sleep and neither device ever cleared out the music so I just restored from iCloud backup.
Now the other thing thats strange is I still have autolock turned off and both devices are sitting on the music app and on my iPhone I have the cloud icon going with the status bar and took 3 hours to get it complete the first time and then someone called me and foolishly answered the phone and then it started all over again.  On my iPad I don't see the cloud icon but i have the spinning wheel going in the corner for almost 24 straight hours now.  I have all my music/artwork back but none of my playlists so I am going to let both these devices sit until the spinning circle stops.
I do have a large library of just under 25,000 songs so maybe thats why its taking so long but I haven't had this issue before iOS 5.1 and iTunes 10.6.

  • Perminently Turn Off iTunes Match in iTunes 12.0.1

I cannot sync music with any of my iOS 8 devices since my iTunes Match subscription ran out. (I purposely let it lapse due to it sucking so bad!) So now I cannot sync purchased music that is in my iTunes library with any devices because it says 'iTunes Match is turned on'. How do I permanently turn it OFF?
    Mid-2009 MBP running OS-X 10.10, iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1.
    Thanks, John

    Hi JohnTheMacGeek,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
The attached article shows how to turn on iTunes Match for both iOS and CPU. The areas on your computer and iPhone that show iTunes Match on in the following article, you can turn off. I would also suggest following all of the steps toward the bottom of the article, Turn off iTunes Match Auto-Renew.

  • HT204406 Does anyone else have to "Turn Off iTunes Match" and "Turn On iTunes Match" for it to become available and working on a second computer??

Everyday I get to work and open iTunes. Everyday the iTunes Match logo next to my library is constantly working and never stops. The only way I can have access to my iTunes Match library is to "Turn Off iTunes Match" and "Turn On iTunes Match" immediatly after. It checks libraries and then everything is available.
Is there a reason and a way to have my iTunes Match to work as soon as I open iTunes?
    The requirements are met:
    iTunes: 10.6.3 (25)
    OS X: 10.6.8
    Thanks

  • How do you permanently turn off iTunes match?

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS7. I'm very excited and happy with the update. Everything looks very nice and is much more intuitive than before. However, I am having one slight problem. I can't turn off iTunes match.
iTunes match is not something I like to use on my phone. I've always found it to be a little annoying and it tends to get in the way of my music listening experience. Once the update was complete, I opened up settings, went to music, and deselected iTunes match. However, it's not staying unselected. Everytime I look back into the music options it's turned on again. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've been having the same problem for about a week now and it's driving me crazy. I've changed passwords in everything to reflect the new protocols (that nobody informed us about, I might add) of having at least one capital, etc. etc., but that hasn't changed anything. I do have one song pending download that WON'T download because the file at iTunes is apparently corrupt, and I can't seem to simply eliminate this one song from the queue. HELP!!!!

  • Turn off iTunes Match in iOS6 on 4.5 Gen touch

How do I turn OFF iTunes Match for my 4.5 Gen touch?  I wish to sync directly from my MBP and iTunes library as in the past but it's not available under the iOS 6 Music tab - just the iTunes Match is ON (it isn't in iTunes).  TIA

I couldn't find a way to delete my original post so I'll talk to myself...
Problem solved.  Sort of an RTFM issue.
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > iTunes Match [switch to OFF].  Re-sync.
    Thanks!
