Turn off live update of cross references

I'm using Indesign CS6 and javascript.
Is there a way to temporary turn off the 'live update' feature of cross references between separate indesign files?
We find this feature to be a real pain if more than one person is trying to work with the files as it slows everything dramatically.
I've searched through the DOM and Adobe InDesign CS6 (8.0) Object Model JS: Table of Contents but I guess I don't know the right terminology to look for.
Hope you can help.
Thanks,
John

Possibly you have obtained a modified version of Firefox. Preferences, chrome, js or whatever may have been modified.
If work requires you to develop on certain versions, and you are doing some of that on this computer, why not install multiple copies of Firefox, including the required versions. I trust the required versions will be the currently supported versions; at the moment that is 3.6, 6, 7, 8 or 9
You should ensure you use multiple profiles so each has a unique profile.
For the current problematic firefox 6 do a clean install, deleting the original program files, but not the profile files. (or possibly an additional install in a custom location with a new profile - allowing you to retain the current firefox 6, and a standard firefox 6) Profiles may be cloned/copied if required, bookmark libraries may be accessed from other versions/profiles if necessary, and multiple versions can be run concurrently. ( I talk from a Windows perspective, but it is unlikely Linux is going to differ)

  • How to turn on / off live updating for all smart playlists at once?

Hello.  Is there a way to turn live updating on or off for all my smart playlists at once?  That would be a fantastic feature since too many smart playlists with live updating turned on brings iTunes to a crawl.
Currently, I run iTunes on Windows 7.  I have over 40,000 songs, and I have hundreds of smart playlists to help organize all my songs and what's on my various iPods at any time.  The problem with having so many smart playlists is that iTunes runs very slow.  One thing that I do to make iTunes run slightly faster is to turn off live updating for as many smart playlists as I can stand (by going into each one and editing), but then it's hard to tell which have live updating turned on and which don't.  As a result, many of my smart playlists don't get updated when I would like them to because I have to go in and manually edit each one again to turn it back on.  Maybe showing which have live updating turned on or off would be useful, too?
On a related note, my iPod Classic will actually not work when I sync too many smart playlists.  This has been a long-standing problem with iPods, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been fixed yet.  I have not experimented to see if it makes any difference if the smart playlists have live updating turned on or off.
    Thanks.

this is exactly what i was hoping to see -- but i can't get it to run right on iTunes 12, yosemite
it also doesn't seem to recognize "Home Videos" or "Audiobooks" as special and tries to turn them off -- i modified the earlier script to add those two to the lists of exclusions, but still get the same error message on the first "unspecial/real" smart playlist -- hasn't somethign changed in the object model perhaps?
    thank you muchly!

  • Installed itunes on another computer and need to turn off automatic update

I have itunes on my desktop at home and it is set to manually update my songs on my ipod (I have more songs on my 80GB ipod video than on my desktop). I am now traveling with a laptop and just installed itunes on my laptop. itunes won't let you turn off the automatic update setting until you plug your ipod into your computer. I am afraid to plug my laptop into my computer because it will automatically update the music (wipe out all my music on my ipod). Can I somehow turn off automatic update (switch to manual) before I plug my ipod into my laptop? Also, I know there is software that allows you to move the music from the ipod to the laptop, but I don't want to move all that music to the laptop. I want to continue updating my ipod manually on my laptop. Please help. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you set the iPod to be manually managed on one computer, that setting will follow the iPod to any other computer you connect it to. However, even if you don't have the iPod set that way, when you connect the iPod to a foreign library, you'll receive an message in iTunes when it recognizes the iPod that the iPod is synced with another library, and you can click 'Cancel' and still get to the iPod's Summary page to put it into manual mode, without it changing any content on the iPod. If it makes you feel better, you can also click Edit and go to Preferences, click the Syncing tab, and select the option to "Disable automatic syncing for iPods & iPhones" prior to connecting your iPod.
    Hope this is helpful

  • I want to turn off auto updating on my Mac 10.4.11 How do I do this?

    # Question
I want to turn off auto updating on my Mac 10.4.11 How do I do this?
When firefox tries to upgrade (without asking) it tends to upset my Mac's usual functioning.

You can go into Edit, then Preferences, then Advanced, then update, and set your update settings there.

  • How do I turn off automatic updates in Adobe Reader 9.3.0?

I don't see any way to turn off automatic updates in this version.

You can use the menu option 'Edit => Preferences => Updater' to adjust how updates are handled. If you have a corporate install, you might not have this option available and then you would need to talk to your System Administrator. If you turn it off, then you will need to manually check for updates since there are always updates to Acrobat/Reader that are needed to block new security threats.

  • Turning off automatic update checks

How do you turn off automatic update checks?
Not only do these pop up on their own even though I have all the 'update' options in iTunes set to manual, but when they do pop up, they do so in a top priority fashion, kicking me out of whatever else I might be doing.
Why can't such updates be done solely when I am going into iTunes?
    Thanks

    Welcome to AD!
It might not be the updater from iTunes. When you install iTunes, you also get a little program called Apple Software Updater.
You can uninstall that from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. You will still be able to go into iTunes and check for updates with it gone.

  • N7K F1 TCAM limitations ("ERROR: Hardware programming failed. Reason: Tcam will be over used, please enable bank chaining and/or turn off atomic update")

I recently tried to add a couple of "ip dhcp relay address" statements to an SVI and received the following error message:
ERROR: Hardware programming failed. Reason: Tcam will be over used, please enable bank chaining and/or turn off atomic update
Studying this page I was able to determine, that I seemed to be hitting a 50% TCAM utilization limit on the F1 modules, which prevented atomic updates:
    # show hardware access-list resource entries module 3
ACL Hardware Resource Utilization (Module 3)
                              Instance  1, Ingress
TCAM: 530 valid entries   494 free entries
IPv6 TCAM: 8 valid entries   248 free entries
                              Used    Free    Percent
                                              Utilization
    TCAM                      530     494     51.75
I was able to workaround it be disabling atomic updates:
    hardware access-list update default-result permit
    no hardware access-list update atomic
I understand, that with this config I am theoretically allowing ACL traffic during updates which shouldn't be allowed (alternately I could drop it), but that's not really my primary concern here.
First of all I need to understand why adding DHCP relays are apparently affecting my TCAM entry resources?
Second, I need to understand if there are other implications of disabling atomic updates, such as during ISSU?
Third,  What are my options - if any - for planning the usage of the apparently relatively scarce resources on the F1 modules?

    Could be CSCua13121:
    Symptom:
Host of certain Vlan will not get IP address from DHCP.
    Conditions:
M1/F1 Chassis with Fabric Path Vlan with atomic update enable.
On such system if configured SVI with DHCP is bounced that is if we shut down and bring it up may cause DHCP relay issue.
    Workaround:
Disable Atomic update and bounce the Vlan. Disabling Atomic update may cause packet drops .
Except that ought to be fixed in 6.2(2).

  • Automatic update of cross references possible?

I work on a very long document using InDesign CS3 and InCopy CS3 and want to include cross references to other pages and chapters between the text. For example "Text...(See also chapter 3.4.1 on page 54)." I have the problem now that if I paste chapters or pages, some of the references are not valid any more. Is their a way to update those cross references automatically?! Is there a function available for that?! If somebody could help me with that, it would be great, really. Thanks a lot!

    Sebastian,
    1. Create a template (for each translated language) that has the desired entries on the Reference page(s). Make certain that the Reference Graphic Frames still have the exact same names as used in the origianl FM document. Then at the book level, select all the files in the book (that require these Reference pages) and File > Import > Formats, select Reference pages only, indicate the appropriate template file (it has to be open) and let FM do all of the work. Should take only a few seconds.
    2. Again, in the language specific template, update the Cross-Reference format and import the "Cross-Reference Formats" from the template into the appropriate files in the book.
You can do both at the same time.

I also have this problem of Firefox updating by itself (also the add-ons) even when I turn off auto-update.
Sometimes you do not want to update or download a large file; because you're working offline, have a slow connection, or have a very low download allowance etc. Usually the update doesn't work and cause Firefox to crash. After that it cannot be started again. This is with Firefox Portable but I think I've had this problem the normal Firefox. With the portable version I can just back up a single folder but it is still time wasting and annoying.
I've noticed that when I start Firefox with auto-update turned off from the previous session, it changes the options to auto-update by itself, it also does this periodically. So every time I start Firefox I have to turn off auto-update, and I have to check again from to time, like a few times a day, because Firefox will by itself turn back on the auto-update.

  • Is it possible to turn off the updates that make your iphone need to be activated again?

Is it possible to turn off the updates that make your iphone need to be activated again? Because you need wifi in order to activate and sometimes I don't have wifi so my iphone becomes unusable untill I get wifi again.

I'm sorry but it says 8.1.2 on my phone when I check for the info about the software.
The issue I have is that on random moments it asks me to activate my phone ( I think after an update or some kind ) but sometimes I have no access to wifi to activate it so I was wondering if I could make that stop?
I'm sorry for the strange explanation, english isn't my mothertongue

  • How to turn off auto update in numbers?

G'day, working with a large spreadsheet... is there any way to turn off auto-update in Numbers?
    cheers
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
No. Numbers recalculates the whole table when any change is made to that table. The use of (multiple) header rows, header columns and footers rows exacerbates the issue. There is no way provided to shut off the auto-recalculation.
Feature enhancements requests (for future editions) may be made using the Provide Numbers Feedback item in the Numbers menu (or by clicking the link in this message).

  • How do I turn off automatic update ! ! !

Someone please help. I need to know how to turn off automatic update..fast

    Anne,
I hope this information is still going to be useful to you:

I don't know why you're asking this question but if it's applicable heed the warning about backing up your music. Otherwise you run the very real risk of losing your music.
And that's not a good thing.
