Turn off location in calendar ios8

Location field in calendar won't turn off in iOS 8. This is an older iPad but don't know which one.
I tried Settings  then Privacy then Location Services then Calendar. My setting is Never.
But I still get the map stuff (I use the location field for various notes about the event). When I enter a note, the pin appears and I cannot save my text entry.

I was very annoyed by the huge lists that the Calendar expected me to select from when typing into the Location field for a new event. After doing the following, the list was limited to locations that I had typed in previously elsewhere in the calendar, and if I wanted to type in a new location or short note it was easy to do.
Settings > General > Spotlight Search  - Deselect Spotlight suggestions; deselect Bing search results
If you have Location Services set to On, which I didn't, it might perhaps be necessary to go to Settings > Privacy > location Services > System services > and turn of Spotlight Suggestions. I do not know what else either of these changes will affect, but the first one resolved the issue I was having with entering locations into a calendar event.

    You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

  • Will an iPhone automatically turn off location services.  If it goes below a certain battery power level, and so how you disable this in settings.

I am working with Georgia DOT and we have created an app to track our state vehicles using IPhone 5. My question is: will an iPhone automatically turn off location services?  If it goes below a certain battery power level, and if so how do you disable this in settings.

I don't believe that this will happen, however, the entire iPhone will shut down when the iPhone reaches the auto-shutdown power level. There is no way to turn that Off other that connecting the iPhone to power.

  • Can I Turn Off Location Awareness in Safari?

I go to a website that regularly asks me if I will allow it to use my location for purposes of my visit.  I find this request annoying and not useful to me.  When I asked the site folks how to prevent it, they directed me to a place where I could turn off location awareness . . . in Windows.
Is there a similar ability in Mac Safari 5.1.2?  I can't find one.

How do I turn off location services on the iPhone 6?
Yes I already went to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, is not allowing me to turn it off.
And yes I have disable the restrictions too.

When I tapped the screen, there was a symbol on the left that looked like arrows going in a circle and on the right were the arrows crossed. The crossed arrows were orange, when I tapped this orange symbol, it turned to white and the songs STOPPED shuffle.

  • After turning off Location Services, Safari keeps saying to turn back on

I turn off "Location Services" often to save battery power, and at night I often turn on "Airplane Mode", (which I must say is most convenient to turn all radios, (GPS, Bluetooth, Phone, Wifi, Push), at once. However, Safari continues to often send a pop up saying, "turn on location services to allow "safari" to determine your location". Not only is this pop up annoying, but I often listen to several of the rainmaker apps as I fall asleep and this notification continously shuts down my rainmaker app. I have tried to find a way to stop Safari from doing this but am getting no where. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way to stop Safari from sending repeated prompts? This has always happened but is happening more so since using Google Latitude, which I do have completely turned off and signed out of. Thanks

Cannot see why Safari is bugging you. 1) it is closed thus shouldn't be needing anything since apps don't run in the background. 2) Safari shouldn't ask for your location (unless specific page is asking).
I'd say reboot as it sounds like something is stuck in memory.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.

  • How can I turn off location tracking by Apple?

How can I turn off location tracking by Apple? Is is possible to roll the software back prior to Apple installing location tracking? I am very unhappy with this change by Apple. I know they probably included a reference to it in one of the user agreements, but this should have been clearly stated and offered a way to opt out. Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.

Yeah, I do see your point. I personally feel perfectly safe using my iPhone wherever I go however I would consider that my usage is a lot less than the average user. I've had the phone for a year and have only made a total of 5 hours worth of calls and have only taken it out of my city one or twice. So for me I don't see any privacy concerns.
From reading the privacy statement though it seems that Apple are adamant that the collection of the geographical data etc is 99% personal information free. They use the term "non-personal information" and for that 1% where someone's personal information does somehow become mingled with their geographical location/movements etc Apple state that this information would be handled as though it was your credit card details or your social security number etc until such time as it's no longer combined.
"If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined."
But, I do agree with the fact that Apple really should have made us more aware of this. Instead we have found out through scientists and their research... that, coupled with the fact that no other smartphone collects this information hasn't helped either.
I will continue to use my iPhone as normal though... I am personally confident in Apple's commitment to privacy. I know not all share this view and that's fine. We all have our own perceptions of the implications of technology...
To answer your question about rolling back your software though that can be done. Might be a bit of a headache though and I'm not the best person to help with that. I'm sure there's some good information here though. Good luck!

Why can't I turn off location services?  Restrictions are disabled.  The on off slidebar is grayed out.  I'm concerned my phone is being tracked.

While I know there are phones that can do this, they really are not powered "off" - they are more in a hybernation state.  However, the iPhone has never worked that way.  Off on an iPhone means truly powered off - nothing is still running so there is no minimal function left ticking away to wake up the phone and sound the alarm.

  • HT5467 Can't turn off Location Services

I want to turn off location services but all the on/off buttons are greyed out.  Why is this?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • HT5824 I can not remember my code to unlock the phone.  I need to turn off "locate my iphone" to reset.  How do I do this???

I can not remember my code to unlock my phone.  In itunes it tells me to turn off "locate my iphone".  How do I turn that off?

Is Find My Phone turned on?
You'll have to login to iCloud.com, from any computer, locate, then erase your phone. Once done, restore from backup, if you have one.
That's the only way for you to fix this.

  • HT203521 In iOS8 I can't turn off shared iCloud calendar alerts. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and am constantly getting their alarms for upcoming appointments. Settings- Notifications- Calendar- Shared Calendar Changes turns off changes only.

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8.  I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts.  There seems no way to turn this off.  I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment.  There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8.  Any ideas?

Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars.  Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months.  So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6.

  • How can I turn off the 3g in iOS8 ?

I loaded iOS 8 on my iphone 5S today but I can not turn off the 3G. My phone is located in Turkey. Turning off the 3G is very important for me because in our country 3g does not work so clearly. I know if there are any problem in 3g, it's change to Edge automaticly by the iOS8 but also 3G affect my battery life negatively. Therefore can you help us to turn off the 3G which is extremly important for the users who live in Turkey. Thank you for your attention.

I agree. It's either lack of intelligence or over confidence that Apple has totally messed up a beautiful product like iPhone. iOS 7 worked amazing; no glitches, no problems, everything seemed fine - and one fine day, we were made to switch to the "worst iOS ever"! iOS 8 comes with a whole lot of glitches, and I am seriously fed up of my iPhone now. I don't feel like using it most of the times.
    No option to disable 3G
    Wi-fi connectivity is extremely poor
ALL the apps crash after a few minutes
Camera Roll disappeared for NO REASON
    A big.....huge thumbs down! Sorry.
