Turn Off Music Store

How do I stop iTunes from trying to access the Music Store?
When I turned it on, it said I could turn it back off, but cannot find how.
Aggravating Internet network problem...

Thanks. I can't find that.
I did find this, though. I don't think it is the exactly right way to do it, but at first blush it seems to have worked:
'Disabling Podcasts, Radio, Music Store, or Shared Music
If you have administrator access to your computer, you can disable access to Podcasts, Radio, Music Store, or Shared Music in the Source list using the Parental Control pane of iTunes Preferences.
You can also use the Parental pane to hide these items in the Source list and not require a password to see them again.
1.
Choose iTunes > Preferences and click the Parental button.
2.
If necessary, click the lock and type your administrator password.
3.
Select an item to disable it. For example, if you select Disable Podcasts, the Podcasts item won't appear in the Source list.
4.
If you want to require a user to enter an administrator password to reenable the items you disabled (or make any other changes in the Parental Control pane) click the lock.
Note: You must be using Mac OS X v10.3 or later to be able to password-protect disabling these items. If you're using Mac OS X v10.2.8, you can hide the items, but a password is not needed to show them again.
You can also use the Parental pane of iTunes Preferences to restrict access to explicit content in the iTunes Music Store.
If you disable podcasts, you won't be able to subscribe to podcasts in the iTunes Music Store.
Make sure you protect your password. Anyone who knows an administrator password for your computer can change parental control settings.'

  • Turn off music store on library window

I just installed iTunes 6.02 and noticed a new feature. When I go to my Library, half of the window is now occupied by the Music Store. If I move the cursor over the line between the two sections, there is no resize option (as there is between the Source area). I want to see only my Library and not the Music Store. Is there a way that I can turn off the Music Store on this window? I find this invasion of my Library highly annoying.

Yeah, at first I thought it was just shameless advertising, but it's actually just there to show you links to other music by whatever you are listening to on iTunes. If it can't find something similar to whatever you are listening to, it shows up as the top 5 downloaded songs and a couple links to the music store.
Not completely annoying, but it's a slight step in the wrong direction in my opinion. It just seems a little bit too forceful. I don't mind some advertising, but this was on the verge of overstepping the Apple law of not intruding upon the user experience or annoying the user with ads or anything else equally vexing.
I remember watching one of my college teachers demo a classical music CD for us in music class using the RealPlayer. The only thing I could think of was how annoying all the goofy advertisements and animation was. It was too busy and overwhelming. It would have killed any inclination to use it, had I never found the Mac.

  • My iPhone 4s will not sync a changed playlist from itunes unless i turn off music match. Shouldn't I be able to use a playlist and music match at the same time?

It's not entirely impossible actually as someone has pointed out to me that I can turn on Call Forwarding and that stops any incoming calls. I've just forwarded it to my google voice number and then turned on "do not disturb" in google voice and whenever I get a call it goes straight to my google voice voicemail and my phone does nothing. The only thing now is I still get text messages but I think the phone calls bugged me more because they would make my music turn off for much longer.
Even though this isn't a perfect solution it's something so far so maybe you shouldn't just come out and say there's NOTHING I can do because so far I've found part of a solution. If you don't have anyting productive to say then just don't reply and close the tab. Thanks.
At this point I'm wondering if anyone knows of any Jailbreak tweaks that can enable what I want. Unless of course it's agaisnt the rules of this forum to mention jailbreak stuff...

  • How to turn off music app

How to turn off music  app.....it just keeps running and running and running.

  • Turning off music in ipod mode

This is probably stupid, but (other than shutting the iphone down) I can't figure out how to turn the music off when my ipod is playing on the phone.
    Thanks

Tap the home key twice. That should bring up an interface for controlling the iPod no matter what app you're in on your Phone. That's where you want to press the pause key.

  • How Can I Turn Off Music On Separate Layers?

I have a number of different music selections on each on their own layer. Is there a way to simply turn off the sound in a layer so I can test different music tracks without having to delete the layer and drag a new sound in? In short when I preview my movie all of the sounds play at once but is there a way to simply turn off the sounds in each layer to test each music track separately. Is this possibe?

Add new keyframe in the layer you want the music to stop. Add the same sound and set its Sync to Stop. On the frame where your music starts, you should have Sync set to Start. To set Sync, select frame with music in it and check Properties panel -> Sound -> Sync.

  • Can You Turn Off App Store in 10.6.6?

Before I install the 10.6.6 update, I'd be interested to know if the App Store feature of OS 10.6.6 can be turned off, similar to how the iTunes Store can be turned off in iTunes. Also, does it connect to the App Store automatically upon startup, and if so, is there an option to prevent that? My experience is that the more the OS and apps add functions that automatically do things that aren't necessary for the current task, the more they tend to slow the machine down over time.
Editorial aside: I find it annoying that computers and phones are being turned into shopping catalogues. Shopping apps are convenient, sure, but I don't care for an OS that has features solely designed to sell things to me. I want my OS to be an OS, not a "store." I'd rather use my browser for shopping.

You can just not use it, or drag it to the trash if you really hate it.

  • How to turn off music from iCloud?

Accessing WIFI in NZ can be a hit and miss affair.  I want to access my music when I'm off line. Unfortunately when setting up my new iPad I agreed to iCloud without realising the implications. I see how to turn off features such as notes, etc but 'Music' is not an option.  Do I have to delete my iCloud Account to bring my music back to the device?
I cannot be the only person for whom this is a problem!

You don't have to stop using iCloud.
You can always download your purchased music from iCloud while you are connected to wifi and it will stay on your device when you offline.  And unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber, you can sync your music to your device from your computer using iTunes and it will remain on your device.

  • Turn off mini store in itunes 7

How do I turn off the mini store in itunes 7. I don't see any option to get rid of it. I'd like the full screen to be song listings. Thanks

  • Turning off music in iChat theater photo presentation

Can anybody please tell me how to turn off the annoying and unnecessary music when showing a slideshow using iChat theater?
    Thanks

    Go to iPhoto.
    iLife 08 version
When you have a Slide show created already you can select the Music Option that produces a drop down and at the very top of this is a Check box for Play Music.
When I go to iPhoto as I have a Slide Show already there is a Play button under the left hand menu items.
This brings up the same Preferences and selection window for the music (from the tab)
iChat opens iPhoto and the Play button can then be used although the Share stops and has to be restarted after the Music setting has been made.
In earlier iPhoto it seems there is a Slideshow icon for the setting access.
So either do it before your start or after the connection and restart the share.

  • IPOD turns off music when the sleep music is pressed

I've got a question. How do I set my i pod nano 6th gen to play music while the screen is dark? I recently got the lastest update, but now if I turn on my i pod nano and pick a song then press the sleep/wake button to turn off the screen (to conserve battery power) the music stops. Also if I play a song and don't touch anything, my i pod nano screen goes dark and the music shuts off. Cause in the previous update i could do that. HELP ME!

Have you double checked to make sure the headphones were plugged all the way in, meaning you don't see any of the metal from the jack showing?
By the way, you posted this in the iPod Touch forum, even though it's regarding your iPod Nano.

  • Turn off apple store sales emails

Since I do not purchase music from the apple store, I find the sales emails slightly annoying.  How do I turn them off on an iPhone3g and an iPhone 4?

  • Turn off itunes store download alerts?

    This is driving me crackers.
Everytime I download something on our main computer (that our iPhones synch with) every device gets an alert from the iTunes store along the lines of 'You can turn on automatic downloads for this device etc etc'.
So everytime I download a song everone in the family rings me saying whats this alert, what am I supposed to do?....
How on earth do you turn this stupid & annoying 'helpful' function off?

Well I would tell you to go to preferences, STORE, and uncheck all the auto downloads boxes but it STILL bugs you relentlessly to SIGN IN for auto downloads even though you turn it off in preferences AND on the iphone in settings, store. SO........ let's hope someone figures a way to fix it or I'm going back to IOS4 and old itunes, and yes Apple I know how to.......

  • How do I turn OFF music playing in the background?

I recently put some favorite music selections on my IPod touch (5th gen),  I have had this device for over three quarters of a year, but I use it mostly for email, addresses, and mail, so I haven't explored many of the other things on the IPod.  However, I wanted to use the bluetooth capabilities on the IPod to play on my audio in my new car, but I find now that the music is playing constantly in the background all the time.  I think it's wasting the battery space.  How do I get it to shut off?

Go to the Music app and find the playing song and tap on the pause button. You can also double click on the Home button and swipe the bottom row fully to the right to get to the Music controls. Tap the pause button.
What is happening is that when you go away from the BT on your car the iPod continues to play the music using the speaker which you seem to have set very low in volume.

  • Can't turn off music sharing

Here's a strange quasi-problem. I recently noticed that my computer is sharing my entire iTunes library, whether I want it to or not! If I have sharing turned on then two librarys are available for people to connect to, and if I turn it off on library still remains. Even if I quit iTunes others can still connect to my library and listen. I've also tried blocking the port with the firewall, no good. This wouldn't be a problem, except I don't want to share my entire library, and this unstoppable library doesn't share my playlists. I've got all the latest updates. Can anyone help me?
