Turn off security

Most of the time, I do not want to use https and I do not want any sort of site security certificate watch and I do not care if the connection "is an untrusted connection" I just want to do what I want to do.
So I do NOT want to identify or correct conditions causing these warnings, I want to turn off both the warning and the protection.
I am supposing this is all somewhere in about:config

If you have visited a website (domain) previously via a secure https connection then Firefox will prevail to using HTTPS when connecting to that domain if autocomplete for the location bar is enabled.
You would have to remove such secure visits or disable autocomplete to prevent that.
If you click a normal (http) link then Firefox should use a normal connection.
You can't prevent using a secure connection and disable warnings.
However you shouldn't see an 'untrusted connection' error under normal conditions.
Most websites should have their certificates up to date and installed properly.
See "Prevent Firefox from automatically completing URLs":
Check out why the site is untrusted (see the Technical details) and if this is caused by a missing intermediate certificate then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
Some firewalls monitor secure (https) connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.

    Hi the_mad_movies,
It seems like this article will be the best option for addressing this issue:
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

some sites give me an error and wont show the full content because its on.

Do you mean that you get an untrusted error page because of a certificate problem?

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • Trying to turn off "secure browsing" when I go to FaceBook to play games. This problem started after updating FF.

When I go to FaceBook to play games, FF will ask me if I want to "turn off secure browsing." Yes or I can't play the games. However, it will not let me do a thing except browse the site in "secure browsing" mode. I never had this problem until I updated FF. I have to us IE to play games on FB now. I hate IE. It's so slow and a pain in the backside.

In the upper right hand corner of facebook, 1. click the drop down menu next to home. 2. Click on 'Account Settings' from the menu. Now, on the right side, 3. click the option 'Security'. 4. The option to turn off secure browsing will be the second on down on the list in the main part of your screen. Hope this helps.

  • When I try to go to a a game on facebook and try to turn off security, I says that the page is being directed in such a way that it would not complete. This is constant. Can you help me?

When I log into facebook it takes me to the https version and not http. the https version is secure and when you play a game it will ask if you want to termporarily turn the secure feature off. When I do I consistantly get a message that says they (I don't know if it is you or facebook, but it's a firefox message) cannot do this as it was being directed in such a manner that it would not complete. I have to go back to the main facebook page and redo whatever many times before it will do it correctly. Once I get into the http end, as long as I do not log off facebook, I won't have the issue. But, if I logout of facebook, I have to go through the process repeatedly. I wish I could get my acct back to http and not https, but facebook's help is useless.

  • 2Wire Router Issues - How to Turn off Security

There appears to be an ongoing issue with MacBook wireless and the 2Wire routers (via AT&T/SBC). My wireless was working fine until I downloaded the recent Apple updates.
I saw one fix for this posted here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=874076
However, I do not know how to turn off the security to the router. Also, what would be the implications of doing so?
Have any other MacBook/2Wire users had this issue and come up with a fix until Apple does? Just called Customer Service, and they don't have any fixes at this time.
    Thanks!

You will need to follow the directions in the 2Wire user guide.

  • How do I turn off Security Warning?

I have a fillable pdf form that I created with Acrobat 9 and distribute via my website. The form has ‘more info’ links that point to informative html pages on my website. The problem is that clicking the ‘more info’ links pop up a Security Warning on the user's computer.
How do I turn off the Security Warning? My website IS safe! Do I need a security clearance from Adobe to turn off the Security Warning?

Nope. That's all on the users end and beyond your control.
They can allow it once and have it remember from there on out or they can add you to their trusted sites.
If you could bypass it on your end, there wouldn't be any reason to have that feature.

  • Can't Turn Off Secure Unlock

Hi - brand new Palm Pixi Plus buyer/user. I can't turn off the Secure Unlock function - I've read the instructions several times and have touched, flicked, nailed, etc and it doesn't work. Help??? And excuse me being such a newbie. Ely

Do you have an Exchange account set up on the phone?  There's an Exchange security policy that can be enforced to require your phone to be locked, which basically forces you to put a password/pin on and removes the option to remove it.  The only way to remove it is to remove the account from your phone.

You still cant ignore the rules of the sandbox. Unsigned applets will be constrained by the rules even when disabling all security in IE.
Do a search for sandbox and you will find many posts about this.

  • Turning off security to none when mounting nfs server

My server has an option that allows me to set security to none when authenticating it's clients to mount its export filesystem. However OSX doesn't like this and requires some use of uid and gid to access a mounted drive. When I go to mount I receive an 'authentication error' from the terminal. I looked into the man pages for mount_nfs and it states:
    sec=<mechanism>
+Force a specific security mechanism to be used for the mount, where mechanism is one of: krb5p, krb5i, krb5, or sys.+
Authentication has to be one of these. Is there any way I can hack around this and set it up so this isn't a requirement on my machine. I want the equivalent of sec=none. My linux clients mount my NAS fine. This is the only thing stopping us from setting up our environment the way we desire. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
