Turn off session restore permanently

I want to turn off session restore permanently. Although I have set resume_from_crash to false several times, Firefox keeps setting it back to true.
Can I ask please specifically for an answer to the question - not a list of links to web pages that just happen to mention the terms 'session restore' but don't answer the question.

Do you want to prevent Firefox from storing session data at all, i.e., disable both automatic and manual restoration of the earlier session? Or do you want your choice about browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to actually stick?
'''(1) Regarding preference changes that are overridden'''
Check out this article, particularly the part about the possible presence of a user.js file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
If you find numerous settings being reset to default, consider whether you have any systemwide cleanup utilities such as CCleaner running which might be helping you out by doing that.
'''(2) Possible workaround: After a crash, view window and tab list screen instead of resuming automatically'''
To prevent Firefox from automatically resuming your entire previous session after a crash, you can display a screen with a list of windows/tabs to restore. This may be helpful to avoid problem pages.
(i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''session''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes''' and change the value from 1 to 0 (that's a zero) and click OK.
'''(3) Remember nothing (also disables manual restore feature)'''
In about:config, set these to zero:
* browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo
* browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo

  • I can't turn off session restore.

    No matter what setting i have set in the Options window, when i exit and then start a new session in FF the previous one always pops up regardless of the setting. All i want is my homepage to pop up like normal. Its done this for about 2 weeks or so. Its soooooooooo annoying. Help.

    You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the <b>browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once</b> pref to true.

  • Help restoring Iphone because it was locked (Find my Iphone needs to be turned off before restore) but I took it off my icloud account. Now what?

    So my little brother locked my Iphone 5 out, so it said to connect it to my Itunes.
    So now I connect it to Itunes, however now when I click on restore (That's my only option) it says that "Find my Iphone must be turned off before restore". So I went to icloud.com and removed it from my account, then restarted phone and now when I click restore, I still get the same error, "Find my Iphone must be turned off before restore".
    and when I tried to update phone, it says the phone could not be updated (error 56).
    So I've tried everything possible, can someone please help me out?

    Hi, thank you for your replies, I found out few things about my servlet, and its portability
    and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
    I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
    of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
    What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste
    File baseurl = (File)this.getServletContext().getAttribute("javax.servlet.context.tempdir");
    System.out.println(baseurl);
    baseurl = new File(baseurl.getAbsolutePath()+File.separator+"temp"+File.separator+"files");
    baseurl.mkdirs();so i am storing my files in that temp/files folder and the servlet processes them and modifies them, then how to present them as
    links to the user for download ?
    and as the servlet is multithreaded by nature, if my servlet gets 2 different requests with same file names, i guess one of them will be overwritten
    And i want to create unique directory for each request made to the servlet , so file names dont clash.
    one another thing is that i want my servlet to be executed by my <form action> only, I dont want the user to simply type url and trigger the servlet
    Reply A.S.A.P. please..
    Thanks and regards,

  • Turn off Spell Checking permanently

    I would like to turn off spell checking permanently. The red underlines disturbs me extremely much.
    In Mail my setting for this seems to be accepted, but for other applications (eg Stickies and Text Editor), it turns back to default as soon as I restart the app. This is very annoying, and also very unlogical.
    Is there a solution?

    Wise-***.
    As you probably know there are a lot of words that no dictionary understand. Especially if you mix swedish and english in the same documents, and also mix a lot of programming language.
    Eg, some words that are underlined in my Stickies now:
    Textwrangler, annoying, default, Omnifocus, Omnifocus-inställningar (which means Omnifocus-preferences), hibernatemode, Flash, and so on...
    All my life I've never had any problems with spelling and I don't think I need the computer to tell me when I'm wrong, when I know I'm not (I'm not that good with english grammar though, as you may notice).
    Bottom line: If I want to turn off a preference on my computer, I want it to be turned off.
    There is a solution from 2008, I was hoping that Apple had fixed this...

  • How to turn off Function Keys permanently

    How do you turn off the function keys permanently? In Quark I use the 'F' keys for guides etc... and just want to have to press one key, not two.

    Before you go to the trouble of entering all the keys see if the Quark default F-Keys will work. I don't have much in the way of apps loaded on Leopard yet but the default Photoshop F-keys work without my disabling anything in keyboard shortcuts. F9 still brings up Expose in Photoshop but I haven't disabled it. I don't know, however, if Quark XPress works that way, though. They tend to play by their own rules

  • Turn off SEARCH FOR permanently?

    I don't like to have my computing activities recorded.
    How do I turn off the SEARCH FOR thingy permanently?
    Even if I removed all the SEARCH FOR options and turned it back on, my activities are still recorded.
    Kinda annoyance.

    The items in Search for are just canned Saved Searches that Apple made for those who don't know how to make a Smart Folder. As was pointed out anyone could do the same thing in Tiger. If you don't want anyone to use them, you could try using Terminal to delete them (make a backup first, in case this hack causes problems). They are here:
    "/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/CannedSearches"
    I modified the PastWeek one to show Photoshop files only, which seemed to work fine.

  • Turn off Auto-Restore Session on Restart

    I am running the newest firefox (RC1) on a brand new computer (win 7 home premium 64-bit). Every time I close firefox it asks me if I want to close all of my tabs so I click "Close tabs". When I open Firefox it automatically restores my last session, even when Firefox didn't crash. I checked my settings, and under "General" it is set to "Show my home page" when Firefox starts. My Security settings say "Remember history". Is there any way for me to turn this feature off...even if I have to use "about:config"?
    Thanks,

  • Computer turned off while restoring ipod touch 4th gen

    My ipod screen recently had it's screen changed, causing the ipod to white screen. I tried to do the simple reboot of holding down the home button and lock button at the same time, and also doing the same including the volume button, but unfortunately it failed, so I had to restore it. But while in the process of it being restored my laptop decided it would be funny to freeze, then blue screen, then restart itself, and now my ipod won't turn on or anything. I've plugged in into my laptop and the computer makes that noise when something has been connected, but it doesn't detect it.
    I do not know what to do, can someone please help me?

    Try placing the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
    If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • Turning off iMac screen permanently

    How can I stop the screen on my iMac from coming on when I log in via logmein? Logging in at night lights the whole house up and frightens the **** out of everyone! Dimming the display only works to a point.
