Turn off setting in pages?

Hello, could you please help me. I am working in "pages" I have obviously accidentally turned on a setting, with every tab down and space it shows me in blue a little (dot .) and everytime I enter it shows a little insert symbol. how do I deactivate this?

You hit command shift i (Show invisibles), doing it again will Hide invisibles.
You might notice the name of the Menu: View
You might then notice that everything under it has to do with viewing/hiding things in Pages.

You didn't say which model of iPod Nano that you have, but generally there should be a lock setting, that can be turned on or off, to prevent accidental changes in settings. And, there is also a setting to turn on or off a feature called, "Shake to Shuffle." It allows you to change songs by just shaking the iPod.

hello, you can delete your current private data and history in the ''settings menu > privacy''. if you open sensitive websites you can do so in a private tab - then they won't appear in your history or the top sites list.

I am having problems setting up a newsletter in Pages. I am not able to place graphics exactly where I want them. Is there a way to turn the Autogrid feature off in Pages?

Your question would be best if it had its own topic. Especially since this is a pretty old thread. I'll ask the hosts to move it to its own topic if they can.
As for turning off the autogrid in Pages, it can't be done, but you can over-ride it. Try moving floating objects using the arrow keys or by holding down the ⌘ key while moving the objects with the mouse.

My iPhone 4 is frozen on the "turn off spinning circle page" Help!!

After I tried to turn off my iPhone 4, it froze on the turn off page where the spinning circle spins before completely turning off. Its been like this for hours! I asked my collegues and my friends and they don't know. I tried to click the awake/sleep button with the home button at the same time and it won't turn off. Neither would clicking the sleep/awake button work where the red slide pops up. I tried connecting it to the computer and it won't load;only an error pops up and won't sync. Please Help!!

Lets start over. Reset, Hold both Home and Power Buttons until the iPhone begins to restart.
If nothing, connect to Wall Charger for at least 10 minutes, the iPhone may start on own and be fine. If not, keep connected to Wall Charger and Reset again. If still problem you may need to Restore the iPhone Firmware.
If you decide to Restore Firmware. With iTunes open connect iPhone to Computer. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually take 20 seconds. Restore Firmware.
If this does not work then try DFU Mode Restore.
If still problems and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

Turning OFF Yahoo Mobile pages? HELP?

Could anyone help me turn OFF Yahoo Mobile on the iPhone 4 (iP4). I HATE Yahoo Mobile. I just want to use the normal sight.
When I go the homepage of Yahoo it defaults to the Mobile. There is a place to go to the Desktop. However, if you search or login or any thing it goes back to the Mobile version.

Open the "Apple" folder.
Open the "Mobile Device Support" folder.
Right-click on the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe file and select "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, check "run as administrator" and click OK.
Restart the PC. Try connecting a device again. Do you still get the message?

In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and facilitate future improvements to Firefox, the option to hide the tab bar was removed.
Fortunately, this can easily be resolved if you desire the keep tabs hidden. You can install "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/hide-tab-bar-with-one-tab/ Hide tab bar with one tab]", an extension hosted on Mozilla's add-ons site, which will restore the ability to hide the tab bar.

How do I Turn off my Optical Disc Drive - Satellite: P745-S4217

I would like to turn off the Optical Disk Drive because the ODD checks for a disc every now and then, very randomly (I can hear and feel the laser tray move around looking for a disc, I can't imagine that it is very good for it to do this so often) and also to save power.
I have read that some (most) computers have Optical Drive power management options where they can turn ons and turn offs setting but on my computer (Satellite: P745-S4217) there is no option for me to change the "Optical Drive power management" once I get into the TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings - I can only change "Cooling Method"
Also, I have options when I right-click on the icon in my taskbar... I can enable "Optical drive auto lock" and then choose between three "Unlock time settings": one, three, or five seconds. But it doesn't change anything.

So have you tried all the tricks posted online? The best one for me is to take a thin piece of plastic like from a salad container. Fold it over and make two "lips". Insert that into the drive and it will help guide the disc out.
Is your MBP under warranty? Then take it in. Don't void your warranty.
Otherwise use the iFixIt guide:

for the non retina.
Disconnect the optical drive cable. If it's really stuck and you feel up to it you can take the drive out and and take it apart (guides all over the net) to remove the disc.
However it sounds like the disc isn't that stuck so any of those tricks should work.

WiFi Turns Off On My Mid-2011 iMac 21.5-inch Mavericks

Hi everyone,
This has been an off and on problem that recently became pretty much more frequent. Basically, I'll be sitting and working on my mid-2011 21.5-inch iMac running Mavericks (and Mountain Lion before it) and the WiFi will stop working. I have to turn it off and back on again. It happened so infrequently, I didn't bother with it. Since Monday, it goes off and won't come back on and I've switched to my small MacBook Air, which has no problem.
I've tried resetting the network preferences, but it still isn't working and the WiFi turns off again. Pages don't load but it never says 'Offline.' I have a WiFi router from Comcast, a Netgear WN10000. Any help is appreciated!

I have been having the same issue since the beginning of this week. Very annoying to say the least. I've also taken the same steps, as well as rebooting the router, and the problem persists.

QIP-7100 1 keeps turning off

Hi. I hope someone can help.... ever since the 1.9 software was downloaded to my two cable boxes, my two QIP 7100-1's randomly turn themselves off for no apparent reason.
I saw another forum entry on this and it was blamed on overheating. These have no obstruction on them at all, and they worked for almost two years just perfectly BEFORE the 1.9 software was installed. This turning off problem has only started since 1.9
I have look everywhere in the setup menu for some kind of auto turn-off setting, but it doesn't exist.
Do I now have defective boxes? Do I need to get verizon to come out with two new boxes?

The boxes you have are not defective. Boxes are exhibiting this since the 1.9 update, some more frequent than others. The next patch update will address this.

Ok, I found a solution that worked for me when trying to connect to the iTunes store by tapping the "update" button in the "App Store" app on my iPad 2. Before the solution was implemented I'd always get the error message "cannot connect to iTunes store". Once the solution was implemented I now can connect to iTunes using the "update" button in the "App Store" app and I get the normal message "All apps are up to date". The solution is this: go into Settings, then General, then scroll to the bottom where it says Date and Time. Tap Date and Time and then turn OFF Set Automatically. When you do that a new option will be added that says Set Date and Time. Tap it. You'll now get a drop down feature. Set the Date AHEAD 2 YEARS. The Time you can leave alone.
Once you do that you might get a bunch of reminders and messages that your apps and stuff haven't been updated in two years. Click cancel or close on each of those messages or reminders. Now go back into Settings, General, Date and Time, and turn Set Automatically back to ON. Reboot your iPad. Open the App Store app again and go to the Update button. It might ask you to log back in to your iTunes account. It should now work. If not, close the App Store app completely and open again and try the update button. Hope this helps.

Turning off Sections setting in Pages '09

Is there any way to remove the Sections setting in pages 09? I'm creating a document, and no "sections" are required. When it groups pages together, and adds extra blank ones, it becomes quite a hassle. Any ideas as to how this feature can be turned off for the duration of the project?

Welcome to the forum.
There are 2 modes in Pages:
*Word Processing* where pages run from one to the other and text flows automatically from one to the next.
Layout mode where every page is separate and you must create textboxes to put text in and to link them if you want text flow. In effect every page is a section of its own.
If you are having extra blank pages it is probably because you have text wrap on images and/or you hammering away at the return key to position text and have some stray returns spilling over at the end of your page.
+Menu > View > Show Invisibles/Layout+ to see what is spilling over and to delete them.

Do you have backups of all the data on the startup drive? If not, do nothing else until you've backed up that data, if you still can.
