Turn off SSL site on OS X Server

I am running OS X Server 10.8 and am trying to use my SSL port (443) for a server that. Sadly everytime I run my server I get a resounding error saying that the port is in use. I have turned off my server websites because of this but I noticed that a web page is still being run on both port 80 and my SSL port.
Here is what is on that webpage:
How can I completely turn off websites? Is it possible to run a website on just port 80 and not on my SSL port?

I update from 10.7.4 to 10.8 here and I have a big problem in Mail now:
I use a private IMAP server without SSL connection.
In Mail from 10.7.4 works this fine, but in 10.8 Mail would like a server certificate and an can't turn off SSL connection for the smtp server.
What's the problem?
Anybody can help me?

I found a kludge:
Go in SMTP server setup -> Advanced and enable the option use costum port and fill out a port number (exp. 25).
Mail don't ask to an certificate anymore.
I hope, Apple remedy this problem in an 10.8 update.

Cannot Set Up Exchange Account in Windows 8/8.1 Mail App - Need to turn off SSL

Hi there,
The office I work at is currently running an Exchange 2003 server for mail, and for reasons unknown, it isn't using an SSL certificate. That will
be changing some time in the near future, but as a result, I can't set up an email profile for this Exchange account on the Mail app. On all the various phones I've had (I've used all 3 major mobile platforms), I've been able to uncheck "Use SSL"
in the initial setup settings, or upon failure to connect to the mail server, save the profile I set up, and uncover more settings after saving that allowed me to turn off SSL. This isn't the case for the Windows 8/8.1 Mail app. I can't turn off
SSL for Exchange in the initial setup part, and I upon failure to connect to the server, cannot save the mail profile.
Don't get me started on Outlook 2013...our server is too old for it and therefore incompatible, which somewhat unforgivingly bricks the program and requires a multi-step repair...
So is there any way to fix or get around this SSL setup issue (other than the obvious solution of our IT guys putting on an SSL certificate)?

I have seen exchange 2003 not working well with the windows 8.1 mail app. generally you would install the cert from exchange 2003 on your pc and mail should work...

and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.

Why can't my Gmail account on Mail go online when I turn off SSL?

I need to turn off SSL for my avast! antimalware to scan my messages. This worked fine before, but just recently my Gmail account stopped going online whenever SSL is off.

I have a web service client that uses JSSE for making web service calls via https. In an effort to debug problems, I set http.keepAlive to false, I can see from the SSL debug output that KeepAlive timer messages no longer shows up, but I still see text such as "Cached client session" and "try to reuse cached session", etc.
Should not turning off keepAlive disable the use of persistent sessions?

They are unrelated features.
HTTP Keep Alive allows the browser to maintain a Socket to the server and issue multiple HTTP requests over that same socket.
SSL Session caching is when an SSL Session is assigned an ID, and additional SSL connects may be established with the same ID. These additional sockets then do not need to perform the full SSL handshake, since much of the data has already been negotiated previously.

can I know turning this ON or OFF ?

Use of SSL is determined by your email server - you have no choice. SSL doesn't slow mail delevery.

How to turn off Open Directory in OS X Server 10.8.2

I am configuring a MacPro with ML Server 10.8.2 for internal-only use. I have DNS working on it (with the annoyance that it goes out of its way to break wildcard host names, and it doesn't know how to properly create the zone files to allow a secondary DNS server to do reverse-name-lookups properly). I have only 2 users (admin and Time Machine), Time Machine is working for client Macs using the Time Machine user account, and File Sharing is working (using either account), sharing a RAID of internal drives an a pair of USB-attached external drives.
I briefly turned on Open Directory, just to see if I wanted or needed to go that route. I entered an Open Directory admin (diradmin) with a password. Looked around the options and decided I did NOT need to use Open Directory just to get the Time Machine stuff working, and I was right.
However, now the Server App shows Open Directory is "On." When I go to that tab, I get a message stating that there was an error reading the settings file for Open Directory services. I click it "Off" but it refuses to turn off. When I come back to the tab, I get a pop-up window with a message about an error reading the settings and the Off/On switch moves back to "On" and the green light never goes off next to Open Directory in the list of services.
I've rebooted the machine and after the reboot, sometimes, it appears as if I can add/delete/modify Users and Groups. Other times, after the reboot, the +/- buttons are greyed out and I cannot add/edit/modify Users and Groups. I have not yet tried to add/delete/modify users yet because I'm leery of trusting the server with this error message.
Can anyone help me to remove anything and everything related to Open Directory so that it is "off" as if I never ever turned it on? Or any suggestions on how to fix this short of a reinstall?
Can I download and install the Server app on a differnt machine and then just copy the Server app over to this machine? Will that zero out the Open Directory stuf that I'm trying to get rid of?

I think I solved my problem by running the following command:
sudo slapconfig -destroyldapserver diradmin
diradmin is the name of the Open Directory admin account I created.
The Open Directory Service now appears "off" and no longer had the green dot next to it in the list of services.
Obviously, NOT a good solution to someone who was actively using Open Directory as this appears to have deleted all the data associated with Open Directory.
Users and Groups now allow me to add/delete/modify.
Sad to see an Apple product have such issues.

Is it possible to turn off my access to the exchange server?

I'm feuding with the ITS department at the moment. They claim they don't want to support my iPhone, they only want us to use the crappy Blackberries they gave everyone. I had to set up my own iPhone - Exchange connection, and it has all worked fine up to now, but about 3 hours ago my entire connection to the Exchange Server was killed. I get no email, no contacts, no calendar, nothing. My fellow iPhone users (3 in my office) aren't getting email either.
I suspect that the evil ITS administrator has turned off access to iPhones, but nobody believes me. Is that possible? Is there any way around it? I don't want to have to carry two phones.
The ITS administrator told my boss this morning (shortly before i got disconnected) that Microsoft might be "turning off" the access to iPhones from Exchange servers. That didn't make sense to me, because Apple is paying MS for the right to use Exchange, right? Also, I googled and couldn't find anything about that kind of an announcement. Has anyone else had issues today?

Administrators of an Exchange server can block access for ActiveSync devices server wide, account specific, or even device specific.
In addition using ActiveSync they can specify security policies for connected phones. The iPhone supports remote wipe as well.

Turning off Opportunistic Locking in Windows 2012 Server?

I have recently switched my database hosting and am having trouble with "Hour Glass" for about 20-30 seconds when trying to save files. I have contacted my application company (Resumate..........database,CRM built on an ACCESS type platform)
and we are brainstorming solutions.
One solution is to turn off opportunistic locking as Windows might actually be locking the file (We have five users using the same file connecting using Remote Desktop Services). Our system has worked seemlessly with our other hosting
option but this delay when trying to save files is not acceptable.
SO, HOW DO WE TURN OFF OPPORTUNISTIC LOCKING IN WINDOWS SERVER 2012 R2?

As you may notice that we cannot disable Opportunistic locking in using SMB2 or SMB3.

The opportunistic locking registry keys are valid only for traditional SMB (SMB1). You cannot turn off opportunistic locking for SMB2.
From your description it is the limitation of the application - SMB2 comes with Windows Vista /Windows 2008, which means the vendor of the application did not recommend to use SMB2 or the application is released for earlier systems while SMB2 is not available
at that time.
If there is no update version, you can try to disable SMB2/3 on server to workaround it. Please run this cmdlet:
Set-SmbServerConfiguration -EnableSMB2Protocol $false

TURN OFF - BC site live view default

All of my BC sites default the live view to the testing server.
How to turn that off? Without having to uncheck everytime I open the site files.

how long does it take before it prompts the error message? Initial hit may be taking longer and times out. Next refresh does the trick as information gets rendered from the cache.

Unable to turn on SSL(https) on the remote server

I have a strange problem to make up the SSL work, here is the situation:
1- I have a Tomcat 7.0.26 with SSL enabled on my local machine(windows xp) and it works juste fine:

2- I tried to use just the same keystore and same configuration that I have been using in my local machine Tomcat server.xml
4- The problem is the SSL is working in local but not on the remote server, it is telling me Web page unavailable...
have I missed something? isnt it supposed to work because I'm really using the same configuration on both machines? or maybe something else on the remote machine is intercepting the https request who knows...

Turning off email virus scanner with out Server Admin

I would just like to know if anyone can tell me what i have to edit to stop the virus scanner but not the junk mail filter?
I have done some changes to my server and had lots of help, now i can no longer change the 'Filter' settings with SA. I can change them but when i save they go back to how they were.
I have learned my leasson about trying to modify the server per 'trial and error'; this time I am asking first.
I noticed that the virus scanner uses more CPU than i thought it would an I would like to just leave it off. So, what do i have to edit to stop it?

Update clamav to the latest version and use clamd instead of clamscan. This should solve your CPU problem. (or if you have done so already, check to see if clamd is running "ps -U clamav" and check the log to see if amavisd is picking it up as its primary)

Why does javascript need to be turned off for site to work?

When javascript is enabled I cannot add items to my cart. The mouse pointer changes to a hand, button changes color, clicking does nothing. When it is disabled, I can add items that do not require a color or size choice. Cookies are enabled. This site works fine with a previous version of Firefox
