Turn off sync alerts for dock changes?

I just upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard. This mostly went well, however, when I make any changes to my dock, I get a "Sync Alert" saying that syncing with the dock with change it by more than 25%. How do I turn this off?
Couple of notes:
- I've never had a Mobile Me account.
- I've never tried to sync the Dock with anything.
- I have more than 20 items in the dock, so changing a single item shouldn't constitute a 25% change anyway.
What process is producing these alerts and how do I make it stop?
On a similar note, when I sync my iPad to iCal using iTunes, I get a similar complaint about 25% change. This is again nuts, since I have appointments dating back to 1999 and the last sync with iCal only added 2 new events.
I tried fishing iSync from Snow Leopard out of a back up and unchecking the alert box for 25% change. But that didn't help.
Any ideas???

Basically, I added the shared Google calendar to iCloud and told Google not to sync the shared calendar to my iPhone, so the shared calendar now shows up under the iCloud list of calendars and not the Google list (and thus the option to turn off alerts). Note: the shared calendars I'm using are read-only, so I don't know how well this would work if you need to edit events from iPhone. I hope this helps, and if anyone has a better solution, please share!

3. In Mac OS X Calendar app, subscribe to the shared Google calendar. File > New Calendar Subscription > paste shared Google calendar URL > click Subscribe
4. Set Location to iCloud. I checked Ignore Alerts because I also didn't want them on my Mac.
5. The shared calendar should now be listed on your iPhone calendars in the iCloud section with the red i.
6. Press the red i and scroll to the bottom and switch off Event Alerts.
7. Remove the shared calendar from the Google list by going to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect and unchecking the shared calendars.

There is no way to turn it off, just reduce it. It is a new security feature. It depends on where you are logging in that is generating the email. If you are logging in from a computer browser, if you have cookies on, it should not generate the email except for the first time that you use that device. If it is from logging in to the Find My iPhone app on the iPhone or iPad, if you have a passcode lock set on the device, it will not generate the email, as you will not be logged out of the app on the phone. You just use the home button to get past the app and it stays logged in by not tracking. You open the app again and it will just take you right in without having the log in and will refresh itself.

Cannot turn off Event Alerts for shared Google calendars in iOS8

I am using a Google Apps account for my calendars and through this have access to several shared calendars.
When I go into the Calendar app in iOS8, I then press the 'Calendars' button at the bottom of my screen, then I am shown all my iCloud calendars in one group then all the calendars from the one Google Apps account together in the next section.
The iCloud calendars (Home, Work, Family) all have a red next to them, which when I press it, I am able to scroll to the bottom of that screen and switch off 'Event Alerts' under 'Notifications'.
But there are no marks next to any of the Google Apps calendars.
This means that all of my shared calendars will give me notifications all the time, and I can’t switch them off.
Is there any way to turn off event alerts/ notifications for specific shared calendars?

How do I turn off all alerts for a specific email account

I want to disable all notifications for a specific email account and I can't find the options to do this. So basically I have 3 email accounts linked on my blackberry. I and I want to make it so that any time account #3 gets an email I don't get a red flashing light or a new message * anywhere. I case you're wondering I've funneled all those annoying promo adds to this one account. It's just that sometimes some of them actually have good deals so I want to be able to check them every now and then but it's seriously annoying when my red light is going off constantly. NEVER MIND! I found it, but I'm going to leave this here incase anyone else it looking for something like this. You go into notification profiles and change the settings for that profile. So it's : Notifications -> Profiles -> Normal (or which ever one you want) -> Customize App Notifications -> Email Messages -> Select email account you want -> Turn off all notifications or modify them to your preference. It does suck that you can't just globally set it by email account. It seems you have to go through each profile and change the settings one at a time. Most people probably only have 3 though so it's not that big a deal #firstworldproblems. DOUBLE NEVER MIND! So the "solution" I mentioned above only seems to work for the LED indicator and the instant popup you that comes on the top of the screen when you get a new notification. I'm still getting the red "new email" star on the side bar when I do a quick look from the homescreen or an app. And the 3rd email account has a "new email" red star next to it as well. Hoping someone out there knows how to turn them off for a specific email account. Thanks. - Kbye

Hi, I am using German OS therefore maybe the items are called differently in English: 1) Go into the main menu 2) Select "Alerts" 3) select the Profile you like to adjust 4) Select App Alerts 5) Select Email 6) You sould see your 3 mail accounts listed 7) Select the one you like to "mute" and you can set everything (sound, LED, vibration etc. individually for this acount) Hope it helps Alex

I can't turn off sound alerts for mail arrival

I have Mail in Lion configured to not play a sound when mail arrives. However, recently a sound started playing. It's still turned off in the config. I suspect a bug in a recent update to Lion. Has anyone else noticed this?

No wonder nobody else had this problem. It wasn't until I turned the sound off on my Macbook Pro and still heard the sound announcing an arrival of an email that I twigged. I realised that I had Mail open on my Mini to which I have speakers connected. Normally I don't have Mail running on my Mini; hence my confusion.

How can I turn off an alert for each txt when message app is open?

I think this is a simple problem but I can't find a solution! I want to receive an alert (either vibration or sound, depending on the position of the silence switch) when I get a new txt. This is how I am set up now. However, once I open the messages app and am engaged in a discussion, I no longer want to receive an alert for each message. So basically: If message app is open, no alert... otherwise, alert! Is this possible?

Latest update on 'Network Lost' Message. I have tried all the suggestions, ie, Setting my carrier to Automatic and resetting my Network settings but nothing works. I had a long conversation with someone at Apple this morning and he said there was no way to stop this from happening. Gutted! My husband and I went through the settings on both our iPhones earlier and discovered that he has a different software version to mine, He hasn't updated his and he never gets the message. Now I am wondering if it's possible to go back to an earlier version and if so how? Can anyone tell me please?

How do you turn off syncing contacts for the iPhone 4?

I had the same issue. When you select the device to sync, go to "Books" and unselect "Books and PDF files" and select "Books only." You have to do it EVERY TIME you sinc, because it always reverts to "Books and PDF" files. (Anybody know how to change this?) Then it will not copy the PDFs to your iTunes library.

i am trying ot make my way through the owners manual but can someone please clue me in to how i turn off sound alerts for facebook and GMail and twitter and whatnot?
i keep looking in the setting and i want to find this in Sounds but i am not seeing it in here.

I'm happy you figured it out and just try to keep in mind that not everyone you talk to at support will give the same advice or have the same knowledge. Just like those who contribute to these forums. Sometimes Google is your best friend.
I agree that Apple could probably make it easier, but as of yet prefer security over freedom. (sound famaliar?)

How do you turn off all alerts except the ringer? For sleeping

I just got my iphone4 today. I need to know how to turn off all alerts and tones at night for sleeping, but I need the ringer to stay on. Please help

Can i turn off sync for some files?

In dropbox and box you can decide which files to sync to the desktop. I have limited space on my computer to sync all the files that I want to keep in the cloud portion.

We recently enabled a part of this capability by enabling users to turn off syncing of selected shared folders from Creative Cloud and I've added some instructions on how to do this here:

We do not currently offer the ability to selectively sync your own files and folders unless they are shared folders but it's useful to hear that you would like this feature and we are working on how we might enable it.

How to turn off Emergency Alerts on a GalaxyS4 (running 4.4.2 Kit Kat)

If you are like me, you hate those annoying Emergency Alerts that fire off when you are in a meeting or trying to sleep, etc. Previously, you could could go to Messaging > Settings > Emergency Alerts and turn off Amber Alerts and Weather Alerts. However, in a recent update for Galaxy S4, it appears some jackwagon removed the ability to disable this "feature" from Messaging Settings.now
This approach will work with version 4.4.2 (at least). It may work with earlier versions.... Im not sure when the change was made.
If you want to turn this "feature" off, here is how you do it:
1. Click Menu
2. Go to Apps.
3. Find the Emergency Alert app. Open it.
4. Click the menu button at lower left of your phone.
5. Click Settings. A new menu will appear.
6. Click Alert Types.
7. Remove the check boxes next to Extreme Alerts, Severe Alerts, and AMBER alerts (as you so choose)
8. That's it, you're done. Click the Home button and move on with your life.

If I understand your description correctly,
it's the frame manager that has the fault light.
That's an old quirk that is specific to that rack component.
It has (essentially) no impact on whatever systems are installed to the rack.
It is usually just a visual annoyance.
Use your service contract and open a support case with Sun.
That will give them a chance to help you check on everything.
They'll walk you through the correct steps of power-cycling the frame manager.
That can be done while the servers are happily serving.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Turning off sync... deletes everything????? Huh?

I don't really need to re-sync my iPhone apps over and over again.
(Since I haven't changed anything.)
But when I try to turn off syncing (unchecking the 'sync apps' box)... iTunes 7.7.1.11 warns me that I'm about to DELETE ALL my apps from my PHONE.
Huh? I don't want to delete anything, anywhere.
Why can't I simply 'don't sync anymore'... and just leave everything else
exactly as it is???
Wow. Can't I control what I delete/keep, instead of "we will destroy everything for you, whether you want to, or not"?

Well, when you uncheck "sync applications" on the app tab, it assumes that you don't want the apps on your device and deletes them. Note that if you keep it checked, it will only sync apps that CHANGED since the last update - meaning it will do nothing if no apps have changed. What's wrong with this default behavior? - it seems to make sense to me. What am I missing?
You can also choose to manually sync everything for the first tab's checkbox.

Anyway to turn off Email Alerts at night?

I am looking for a way to turn off email alerts at night. I just don't want the sound to wake me up. I know I can manually change my volume each night to phone calls only, but I was wondering if there was an automatic way of doing this?
I don't want to auto on/off my phone either because it's is the only phone I use in my house. Never know if there will be an emergency at 2 AM and someone needs to call you.
