Turn off the annoying OCR scan in Acrobat 9.

Please provide a way to turn of the annoying OCR scan in Acrobat 9. It is un-needed
and really slows things down.  I want to read the file not edit it.

I don't need a stupid pop-up; this isn't a stupid Windows program. Now my iTunes is jumping around, things are popping up!  *** APPLE! I wnat my old iTunes back!

Like whan you touch the black bar at the top of the screen with the time and the battery percentage and all that...the screen will scroll all the way back to the top.  I'm wondering if there is a way to turn that off

  • Turning off the annoying green rectangle around Java windows

How does one turn off the annoying flashing green rectangle around Java windows? And how do you stop it from jumping to the top of other windows.
Both of these functions are quite annoying and seem rather pointless.
    (I am using Firefox)
    Thanks

Are you referring to some Applet that you have programmed or something you found on the net? Even for the latter case, I don't have either of the problems you mention, so it's probably related to the site or your browser settings.
Please note that these forums are for support to developers and students of Java, not for every java product ever released.

  • [SOLVED] How can I turn off the annoying auto indent tabs in VIM?

I'm coding in Python and VIM is auto-tabbing each new line.  It's a real buzz kill.
When I hit enter at the left margine, even when there is nothing on the line above the cursor, it shoots out a tab and three spaces.  I've switched to nano but feel lost without VIM.  I've never seen this behavior before.  I've turned off all of the auto indentation options I can think of.
    ***** begin .vimrc *****
    set noautoindent
    set nosmartindent
    set noindentexpr
    set nocindent
    ***** end .vimrc *****
    Thanks!
    [UPDATE]
I wish I could delete this post.  ... anyway...  the solution was:
    set indentexpr=''
    Last edited by TomB17 (2009-09-03 16:41:07)

Unfortunately, I have to do a ":set indexexpr='' " each time I start VIM.  I've got it in the .vimrc but it seems to be ignored.
I'm used to Ubuntu and this feels really weird.  It's like profiles aren't processed.
I would appreciate it if somoeone would point me in the correct direction.

  • How do i turn off the annoying sound?

I opened up iTunes (which I don't use often since I have no Apple devices) today and every time I go to a new location in the iTunes store part of the player, it plays this incredibly annoying electronic squelchy sound which I suppose the site designers think sounds edgy and ultra-modern and cool. Frankly, it makes me want to dig my brains out with a spoon. I can't seem to find any way to turn that noise off. Is there a way to do so? Or do I just need to uninstall iTunes for the sake of my own sanity?

"and my question to you is: if you got your computer
new a few weeks ago, why didn't you get the mac book?
because all these systems are going to be old news by
    the end of the year."
ah yes...if only I had been as crafty and computer-literate a consumer as yourself, I would've perhaps had the foresight to go against the recommendation of the friendly salesperson at the Apple store, who assured me, despite my interest in purchasing one, that it would take three to five years for programs to be updated to run on the mac book, or something to that effect, at which point I would be getting a new computer anyway (or something to that effect.) Once again, it seems, my faith in the general goodness of humanity has lead me astray...

  • Is there any way to turn off the annoyingly stupid notification curtain we were so eloquently forced to have in the last update???

Title says it. I can't possibly the only person that absolutely hates that stupid curtain & I think it was pretty arrogant to add something like that with no obvious way to turn it off. Btw this forum is absolutely not iPhone friendly. It took me a dozen attempts to post this question. Very slooooow & choppy

This basically assumes I'm an idiot & don't realize that. Of course it only comes down with a finger slide from the top. That's the whole problem. Hence starting the thread... That is what's friggin annoying & I thought maybe there was a secret to shutting it off I wasn't aware of.
I guess I'll look into going back on the iOS. I know Apple claims you can't but from what I've read it is possible.

  • How do I turn off the ANNOYING text hover in the flash builder 4 editor

I love Flash Builder 4, but one thing really bugs me about it: the hover tool tip that pops up when you hover over a class in your code.
I am climbing the walls trying to find a way to disable this content assist text hover.
I don't need it and it is really getting on my nerves because every time I move my cursor over a class, the pop up gets in my way.
There has to be a way to turn this off!!!!

That preference you found only disables the ASDoc content in the tooltip, it does not disable the tooltip itself. The default, non-ASDoc, content shows the signature of the definition. There isn't currently a way to completely disable tooltips. You can file a request at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex.

  • How can I turn off the annoying yellow boxes that have started appearing?

It seems that recently I have started having annoying yellow boxes appearing when I hover over thing in the finder window. This is something that I didn't have going on in the previous 3 versions of Mac OS X.
    Here's an example...
How can I get rid of them?

This appears to be a third party extention of some sort with the bright yellow background?  Start there if you modified.

  • How do I turn off the annoying popups asking me to confirm?? Such as confirm refresh or reload a page

whenever I reload or refresh a page, a popup appears saying:
"To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier."
I want to turn that off

    See:
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • Turn off the iTunes-voice

    Hi,
    my son just installed iTunes.
It is working ok but we would like to turn off the annoying voice that is presenting the name of the band and the albumname - is that possible?
    Many thanks
    Andy
    Message was edited by: Andycologne

iTunes has no such feature. If your system is speaking the name of the band and album, it's some other software that's doing it, possible a feature of Windows such as Narrator. You'll need to identify what is indeed speaking and turn that off.
    Regards.

  • How do i turn off the STUPID gestures? every time i quickly scroll a large page i get switched to previous sites i've been at, very, very annoying! i hate gestures!

i'm using firefox 4.0 on an amd cpu running suse linux 11.4. i've completely turned off the gestures in suse (one of the first things i do, i can move a mouse very quickly and i like it to be a mouse!), i can't find a plugin or setting to turn these damn things off. the main problem is when i use the scroll wheel to rapidly move up or down a long web page and wind up on another page suddenly, very, very annoying! i really, really HATE gestures! then again i know how to use buttons etc. and i do mouse very quickly and creatively ( i also turn off several other "conveniances" like automatic window resizing, i know how to manage windows.....) thanks, i really, really hate these "features" being on by default, people with certain disabilites are probably also highly annoyed by the lack of choice in some procucts.
you really, really need to provide easy access to more settings, as evidenced by the number of extensions aimed at providing control to users. thanks

You can set all the mousewheel.with*.action prefs to 0 to perform a scroll.
    mousewheel.withnokey.action
    mousewheel.withaltkey.action
    mousewheel.withcontrolkey.action
    mousewheel.withmetakey.action
    mousewheel.withshiftkey.action
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
If necessary then you can also set all the browser.gesture prefs to empty String values.
