Turn off the status LED or make it a stable light

As I remember, with earlier Time Capsule or Air Port Express models, there was an option to turn off the green LED status light or make the light stable so it does not flicker when data is being transferred.
I think had my previous (recently departed) Time Capsule set to this mode, so I had a stable green light instead of nervous flickering with every transfer of data.
I just installed a new 3 TB Time Capsule. Can I toggle the light setting somewhere in the actual version of AirPort Utility? I did not find any possibility to do that.
Best,
Georg

Can I toggle the light setting somewhere in the actual version of AirPort Utility?
Apple removed the settings in AirPort Utility 6.x versions regarding the options on the light.
If your Time Capsule is operating normally, it will have a steady green light.
Flashing amber indicates that the Time Capsule has a message for you.
No light indicates that the Time Capsule is not currently powered on....or it has died.

Can you turn off the status messages that can be sent via e-mail when a print job is finished?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

In your ePrint account under ePrint Settings you will see an option for Allowed Senders.  Change the option from Everyone to Allowed Senders Only.    Once you do that, you can add the email addresses you want to allow to send faxes to the printer (the system will auto populate the field with email addresses that have already been sending faxes).  You can uncheck the boxes under Email job status.  Once this is done, you shouldn't received notices for print jobs sent from the unchecked email addresses.

  • Turning off the charging LED?

Dear Sony,Appologies if this is already covered, searching just finds old issues with LED and stamina.I'd like to disable the charging LED. I've started using a dock at night and I can't hide it by butting the phone face down. I've solved the issue of notifications when I'm asleep with the Smart Connect SW turning off all data so I can't get them but the charge light is annoying. Should this not be an option in Smart Connect to disable LED and then use the between hours to activate? The only option I can find anywhere is the 'pulse notification light' that seems to do nothing. I'm running the Aus unbranded .253 software. Thanks

Ok there is a way around it - HURRAH!  not fully tested it but it seems to work so far.   Download lightflow This method is based around the logic of if you can't stop it flashing, at least we can make it so dark/dull (and static if you prefer) that you won't even notice it. You will need to create notifications for both charged battery and charging battery.So... take Charging battery:Under Notification tab:- put a tick in Enable notification- exclude from sleep modeUnder Light tab:- Put a tick in Enable ligh- Select Notification colour- Go for Custom Colour- select bottom right - the blackest / purple-ist you can find!- hit ok-Select Light duration - here either chose always on or very slow depending on how sensitive you are - I found always on less distracting than waiting for it to flash, no matter how the dark the light is.- change light duration to either do not automatically switch off if you NEVER want to see the charging light, even in the day, or say Stop after 8 hours instead.- If opting for flashing rather than a static light, change LED flash rate to Custom LED Flash rate and fiddle with the milliseconds - extend the off part by many zeros! Repeat for Charged battery option. That's it - good luck and happy sleeping. Melanie

Thank you Chris.  Yes  I did know that but it was not clear how to turn it off.  All the forums visited said it was under general.  I have since found a site called iAnswerGuy which describes how to turn it off step by step. Thank you very much for coming back to me so quickly.  Susie

    Hi tdennehy
Well, first of all thanks a lot for your replay. We have perfect LOS with certainly more than 60% of the Fresnel zone being clear. The Yagi antennas are pointed at each other with no doubt, we actually got while in the "install root" and "install non-root" bridge mode the I and R LEDs on and stable, and S blinking. At times we got all the LEDs blinked fast but I guess we were passing through some strong signal concentrations. Heh, the client sugested to install the Yagi antennas as the omni but I just ingnored him, what else could I say hehe.
When we were installing all the equipment I had a play with different channels and it seemd like CH 1 worked best. The antennas use the cable they come with because the BR-1310 bridges we have installed right beneath the antennas, only the coaxials cables go down to the office to the power injectors.
Please see the attached screenshot from the signal and SNR reading. It seems like we have a little bit of noise. The signal was -61dB to -63dB on the installation day but 2 weeks later it went down to about -65dB.
So, you suggest we rotate both Yagi antennas by 90 degrees correct? I guess one needs to be turned clockwise and another anticlockwise correct? What de we actually gain by doing that? We change the polarization from vertical to horizontal? Could you please explain it to me a little bit more?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience. I am going to troubleshoot this on Monday so I would be great if you could give me some sugesstions. I thought of changing the Yagi antennas to 19dB direccional flat pannel of 3rd party but with this distance 13,5dB yagi I think are sufficient. Does the "distance" settings on root bridge have impact on the signal sterngth?
One more question, at the moment the 2 connected offices are in the same subnet so to speak in the same broadcast domain. On one site (non-root bridge)  they have up to 150 client connections to the servers on the other site (root bridge) but with 20kbps per station making it roughly 3Mbps total bandwidth needed. When they connect all at the same time, our client say the wireless link go. I really don't believe that becasue on the wireless readings we get betwenn 18 and 24Mbps so it should be way more than enough. Do you think by putting both sites in different VLANs would help a little bit so the local traffic would not need to be broadcasted over the wireless link back and forward? Can you shed on that a little bit of your experience? I suspect they have something to do with the switching on local site because when I was pinging the non-root bridge from the local site but connected to a different switch then is connected the Cisco bridge, I got funny reposnses, between 5 and 40ms over ethernet with 10 connections to the remote site over the wireless link but when we pingged the same CIsco bridge from the local site but connecte to the same switch as the Cisco bridge the responses were 1ms. It makes me think that they have some broadcast storming on the local site and that also propagates the wireless link...

It might be a case of one man's "it makes me crazy" to another's "The light is good" kind of a thing.
I do not know of a "for sure" way to turn off the button light.   Various methods have been suggested on Google.

The following solution may work IF you are running Windows 7 or below.  This is NOT a solution for Windows 8.
Wireless assistant for many systems running Windows 7, Vista, XP.
    HP Wireless Assistant sp49018 V3.50.12.1
Installing and Using HP Wireless Assistant
    ===========================================================================
    Workaround - One Definition:
A method for overcoming a problem or limitation in a program or system.
You might, for lack of wishing to damage the keyboard, use a tiny bit of electrical tape to block the light.
IF you are going to be the ONLY owner of the computer and you never want to see the light again, dab it with a bit of black model plane paint.
If this is really making you nuts, you can take apart the system hardware and perhaps disconnect the light at the source.
    =====================================================================================
    Side Bar:
Though it may cause side effects, that of causing your Wireless / Bluetooth to become unusable or unstable, you could set the Device Manager for the wireless and bluetooth drivers to allow the system to turn OFF the driver "to save power".  I have no idea whether this will work and it does have the aforementioned side effects.
    Example:
    Windows 8:
    Windows key + X > M (opens the Device Manager)  >
    Windows 7:
Control Panel > set icon view > Device Manager >
    Next...
    Network Adapters >
Right-Click your Wireless Adapter > Properties > Power Management >
    Select as appropriate:
UNCHECK “Allow computer to turn off this device…”
UNCHECK “Allow this device to wake computer” >
    OK
    Windows key + X > M (opens the Device Manager)  > Bluetooth >
Right-Click your Bluetooth Adapter > Properties > Power Management >
    Select as appropriate:
UNCHECK “Allow computer to turn off this device…”
    OK

    Good Luck!

  • How can I turn off the LED light? It's constantly on.

If anyone can give me some help, that would be tremendous. How can I turn off the LED light as it's contstantly turned on???

If a reset does not work, then the next steps in user troubleshooting are restore from a backup and if that doesn't work, then restore as a new device. If that doesn't work, then you can make an appointment to take the device to the Apple store and have the hardware checked.
If you live close to an Apple store, you could go there first, but they will probably ask if you have done a restore and would do one there, so make sure you have backed up and synced all of your data.

how do you turn off the apple TV box?  There doesn't seem to be an off button.  The status light stays on.

Usually, when you put it to sleep mode, the status light will turn off.  To put it into sleep mode, go to Settings.
If you want it completely off, then I guess the only way to do it is to pull the electric plug.

  • HT4527 I transferred my library to a new laptop and everything appeared on the screen. I turned off the old computer and the library disappeared. How can I make it a permanent transfer as my old computer is being scrapped. Thanks

I transferred my library to a new laptop and everything appeared on the screen. I turned off the old computer and the library disappeared. How can I make it a permanent transfer as my old computer is being scrapped. Thanks

    Hello Terryfrank,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  Also, thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with transferring your iTunes Library to your new computer.
I notice that you are coming from the article “iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer,” and it sounds like you might have used the Home Sharing method outlined in that article.
With Home Sharing, you can stream content from another computer, and it sounds like that is how you have it currently set up.  The last step is to import the content to your new computer.  Use these steps on the new computer (while the old computer is on) to import the music to your new computer’s hard drive:
Once your new computer sees the Home Share from your old computer, click that Home Share on the left side of iTunes on your new computer.
Select the content in the Home Share that you want to transfer to your iTunes library on your new computer, or choose Edit > Select All to choose all of it. Then, click the Import button in the bottom-right corner of iTunes.
Wait for the content to finish transferring.
Additionally, if you want to transfer your playlists, you can export them from the old computer to the new computer:
    Transferring playlists
If you want not only your content but also your playlists to exist on your new computer, you will want to transfer a copy of all your playlists from your old computer. To do this, choose File > Library > Export Library on your old computer. Save the XML file that is created to your desktop.
Send the playlists file to yourself as an e-mail attachment, use an external drive, or use file sharing to move the playlists file to your new computer. Once the file is on your new computer, open iTunes and choose File > Library > Import Playlist. The import process will remove any items from the playlists that you didn't share via Home Sharing.

  • Is it possible to turn off the updates that make your iphone need to be activated again?

Is it possible to turn off the updates that make your iphone need to be activated again? Because you need wifi in order to activate and sometimes I don't have wifi so my iphone becomes unusable untill I get wifi again.

I'm sorry but it says 8.1.2 on my phone when I check for the info about the software.
The issue I have is that on random moments it asks me to activate my phone ( I think after an update or some kind ) but sometimes I have no access to wifi to activate it so I was wondering if I could make that stop?
I'm sorry for the strange explanation, english isn't my mothertongue

  • How do I turn off the headphones to make a call?

    This is odd.
How do I turn off the headphones off to make a call?
For the last two days, every time I make or receive a call, my iPhone (1.1.3) thinks that my headphones are in, even when they are not. When the call engages, there is no audio on the handset. (If I plug my headphones in, the phone works as normal.)
I have turned the phone off and on. (Again and again, in fact.)
I have reset the system software.
I have sacrificed a tofu chicken and did a little dance.
I cannot find a setting to force this feature to turn off.
Is there anything obvious that I am missing?

Try inserting and removing the earbuds several times.
If this doesn't work, insert the earbuds and start playing a song and then remove the earbuds. If sound is not heard from the external speaker, time to give AppleCare a call (800) 694-7466 or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.
Lint or a foreign substance in the earbud jack can cause this and it doesn't take much.

You have to jailbreak your phone to do this, voiding all warranty & support. Just flip the Ring/Silent switch when you send.

  • [SOLVED] turn off the ethernet port Leds

I've just found out that you can turn off the leds on the ethernet ports on my new router (linksys EA2700).
Is it possible to do the same on archlinux from software (if yes how?), or that is a hardware specific option?

As far as I know the ability to do this does depend - to some extent - on the hardware (and/or perhaps drivers and kernel modules).  But you can check /sys/class/leds to see if it is available there.  There is no entry in leds for my NIC, but various other LEDs can be controlled there.
