how can i disable imessage from automatically starting up when i turn on macbook air? i dont know my imessages to pop up on my laptop when it turns on. But i dont want to disable imessage totally on my macbook.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup

  • How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air?

How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air? (As my Macbook Air is only 64GB and my iPad is 64GB and that my Macbook Air only has 40 GB left...) Or is there no other way but to sync apps from iTunes to iPad without syncing apps from iPad to iTunes(it says Backing Up , then it says Converting files to iTunes, then it shows the name of the app on the bottom...)

Yes, sign in with the same Apple ID as your stolen one in the new iPod Touch.

  • How do I use the restart keyboard combination on my MacBook Air without eject button?

On my MacBook Air, I noticed that there are two restart combinations: 'Cmd+Ctrl+Power Button' force restarts my mac and 'Cmd+Ctrl+Eject' restarts my mac normally (not force restart). OS X: Keyboard shortcuts
I noticed that there is no eject button on my macbook air and was wondering if anyone knows how to restart a macbook air without eject button.
I have tried using 'Cmd=Ctrl+Power Button' but as I said, it force restarts my mac not restarts it normally.
Also, 'Fn+Cmd+Ctrl+Power Button' also force restarts my mac.
Please could someone tell me how to retort my mac normally with the keyboard shor

With Applescript Editor crate an application with the following script:
    tell application "Finder"
    restart
    end tell
Put the application in the Dock and clicking on it will restart your MBA.

  • Is there a way to create an AUDIO alert when my MacBook Air (Mavericks) battery runs low (say 10%)?

Is there a way to create an AUDIO alert when my MacBook Air (Mavericks) battery runs low (say 10%)?  I often miss the visual power percentage in the top bar, so would like an audio alert as well.

    For global alerts, yes:
There is no need to do anything before the alert appears, and the MBA will not lose data should it go to sleep. If it goes to sleep at 0% you still have several hours to plug it in before it shuts down.
I wouldn't even bother displaying the percentage value.

  • I want to turn my macbook air off. the shut down button already appeared but the mouse/cursor just hang and won't work. even after pressing the enter button to shut my mac off won't work. what will i do?

i want to turn my macbook air off. the shut down button already appeared but the mouse/cursor just hang and won't work. even after pressing the enter button to shut my mac off won't work. what will i do?

This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
    Firefox 18.4%
    Activity Monitor 0.9%
    Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6.

  • I am unable to sync my iPad with my new MacBook Air without losing all photos even though both are linked to the same iTunes account

I am unable to sync my iPad with my new MacBook Air without losing all photos even though both are linked to the same iTunes account

Transferring photos from your computer has nothing to do with your iTunes account/Apple ID.
Photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring photos from another, all photos on the iPad that were transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPad first - even if the photos were transferred from the old or different computer to the new computer being used for syncing.
When transferring photos from your computer, what is named the iPod Photo Cache is created on your computer for the photos that are transferred and why you see new photos being transferres are optimized before the actual transfer process. The iPod Photo Cache for these photos on the computer the photos were transferred from is not available on your new computer.
Since all photos on your iPad that were transferred from the old or different computer should remain on that computer, transfer the photos from that computer to your new computer. These photos on your iPad will be erased with the first sync but will be re-transferred along with a new iPod Photo Cache for these photos being created on your new computer.

  • Could macbook starts without battery by using adapter as power source!!??

    Hi all
I have macbook black early 2008 model. My battery is damaged as it falls in water.
I have experienced that If the adapter is plugged with macbook and macbook is on and then i remove the battery ...its remain on...
My question is this that could macbook starts without battery using the power adapter as power source.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Abdul Azeez

Yes it will start and run. The downside is your MacBook will run slower and if you accidentally pull out the plug it will shut off immediately and you'll lose any work that hasn't been saved. I suggest replacing the battery when you can.

  • How can I sync my iPhone on my macbook air without deleting everything on my iPhone, How can I sync my iPhone on my macbook air without deleting everything on my iPhone

How can I sync my iPhone on my macbook air without deleting everything on my iPhone, How can I sync my iPhone on my macbook air without deleting everything on my iPhone

The application ITunes presumes that the information, data, music, etc in its database is the correct master. In doing so, it will overwrite and replace any information previously on the phone. You probably will want to transfer the iTunes data directory from it's original location (presumably the system yoiu used to sync with your iPhone previously), the the new system.
If your iPhone has data from a different Apple ID, than the ID you will use on the new notebook, then be prepared to lose the data on the phone if you sync. It's meant to work that way.

  • Just turned my macbook air on and the screen is white except for what looks like a camera with a question mark flashing.  any ideas what to do?

turned by macbook air on and the screen is white with a question mark flashing and nothing else on the screen. will not boot up.

Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer was running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier and you reach the third set of steps, insert a Mac OS X install disk or connect the computer's original thumbdrive.

  • My MacBook Air's battery health is decreasing.

My Macbook Air's battery health is decreasing. I bought it around a year ago. Now it's battery health is 85%. However, it keeps changing. From 85% to 88% and sometimes it hit 90%. Is my macbook's battery healthy? And is it normal, because I bought it a year ago.
    Here are my battery's properties:
    Cycles     ; 404
    Health     : 85%
    Design Capacity: 6700 mAh
    Current Capacity: 5703 mAh

i have to disagree with linc davis's reply.
system profiler, or what they call the system report will have your current battery health status. in power the system profiler will either display "excellent", "normal" or "check battery" the more charge cycles you have, (404 which you stated) the more the battery will loose some capacity. this is normal of lithium ion batteries
health 85 % is current capactiy (fully charged)  divided by design capacity * 100 or
    5703 / 6700 *100 = 85%
my mac book air, having it for a year states
    cycle count 163
    Condition : Normal
    Charge remaining 4223
    full charge capacity 4263
but system profiler, at least on my mac book air running osx 10.8.2 does not list design capacity. so i am wondering where you got that number. the mac book air i have is the mid 2011 11" model
if you feel after 400 cycles your battery diminished and you have apple care you can always ask them to replace the battery, but if you did not get apple care, then the year warranty would be up. a new mac book air battery outside of apple care or any warranties is $129 before tax at the apple store.
eventually the more cycles you have ( a cycle is being fully charged from being nearly discharged ) the more you are going to have to replace the battery. whenever you feel you are not getting the charge you used to get the discision to repalce that battery is your choice, but eventually you will have to replace it.
for example say the battery used to give you 3 hours amd now it only gives you 30 minutes, then yeah replace the battery. but if the time lost in capacity doesn't bother you that much, then don't replace the battery now

  • MacBook Unibody Aluminium 13.3" (late 2008) turns on only sometimes -without battery-

Last week, I removed the battery from my MacBook because it was time to replace it (the first time since I bought it). When I did it and I tried to turn the computer on without the battery, it didn't work. The same day, I made a SMC reset but it didn't work either since the Mac didn't turn on. Two days after, I tried to turn the Mac on and it surprisingly worked! The computer worked normally and I performed a hard disk and a RAM analysis to determine whether there was a problem or not. The analyses showed no damage. I turned the Mac off and the next day it didn't worked again. Two days later again, it turned on and worked normally. I've got now the new battery but I don't want to place it and take the risk of damaging it without knowing firstly why this happened. What should I do now? Help, please!

    thnx

  • HT3964 Is there any other way to turn on a macbook air without using power button?

    Hi everyone
I think I somehow spilled some water on the keyboard or something and now the power button does not respond. I see that the bettery is fully charged as the LED light indicates green. Now, is there any other way to turn on the computer without using powerbutton?

Nor would you want to try to turn it on under these circumstances. If the logic board is salvagable, and the damage is now only limited to the keyboard, then putting power to the logicboard could cause a catastophic short circuit and render the whole MBA a lost cause..
Immediately take it in to an Authorized Service Center or Apple Store Genius Bar to ascertain the damage and potential for repairability.

  • Mid-2013 Macbook Air drains battery at hibernate

I recently got a new Macbook Air:
    MBA 13-inch, Mid 2013
Processor  1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 5000 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.4 (12E3067)
The issue I'm running into is essentially that I close the lid (unplugged from power and anything else) and overnight the entire battery drains.  When looking into the system log, I noticed that the sleep seems to run OK but it's when it tries to hibernate that the issue comes up.  It looks to me like it tries to hibernate and runs into an error, tries again, run into an erro, tries again, etc.

This all seems to loop until the battery drains completely.  Any Thoughts?

I have the exact same problem. I just installed Mavericks three days ago and I'm having battery drain when the lid is closed.
Does anybody have a solution for this problem ?
