Turn on photosmart 7520

bought a new photosmart 7520. Power cord works (light lit), not sure of power cord from there to printer.  Where do you turn on this thing? Nowhere I can find does HP tell you, and I have looked all over this thing (could be blind).

  • Photosmart 7520 error. there is a problem with the printer. turn printer off then on.

I have a photosmart 7520 experiencing the following issues.
Problem #1:   Randomly all the lights start to blink off and on and the display reads the following :
Error . There is a problem with the printer. Turn printer off then on.
I cannot find any one action that triggers this to happen.
Problem #2:  When the printer is turned on and idle,  also at RANDOM times, the printer will "Ding" followed by the  wireless light blinking. Then what sounds like the cartridges being cleaned, then a sound like the feeder spinning or the print head running full track from side to side, then ending with a "Ding" and then returning to normal.
When this occurs, the wireless connection is disconnected then reconnected. Also this Disables the "Scan to computer" function to all the computers on the network and requires manually re-enabling all .
From what I can tell the printer is restarting itself.
It is plugged directly into the wall outlet, no surge protector.
Tech support has already run me through the clean the print head steps, escalated me up the chain, and ultimately replaced the printer with a brand new one.
THE NEW PRINTER IS DOING ALL THE SAME THINGS AS THE PREVIOUS ONE.
This printer is connected wirelessly to a Netgear N900 router. My computers all running Windows 7, all are on the same network and workgroup and all are running Mcafee Total Protection.
If anyone is or has experienced the same or similar problems, I could sure use some help.
    This question was solved.

    How did you fix this?
I replaced an HP printer recently for a new Photosmart 7520 after a complete ink container emptied into the printer.
The old printer sometimes had difficulties switching it on and the new printer has the same problem.
Also the wireless connection regulary drops and can only be reenabled by switching of the printer and switching it back on, only this sometimes takes more than ten minutes before a simple push on the power button is translated in a power on of the printer.
Since the previous printer also suffered from these "power" issues, I think the problems are power related, but I have to check this first before I can say anything more about this.

HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer - WHEN i AM TRYING TO MAKE A COPY COPY OF AN A4 DOCUMENT WITH A4 PAPER INSTALLED.  iT KEEPS PUTTING THROUGH A BLANK SHEET AND SAYING INCORRECT PAPER SIZE.   HELP!!
I HAVE CHECKED FOR UPDATED SOFTWARE ETC, CLEANED THE GLASS, TURNED OFF AND ON ETC - NO LUCK.
Why is it such a major task just to photocopy one standard piece of A4 paper with just a letter contained no photos etc or anything too tasking.
    Any help much appreciated

    Hey there @SMFTEDDY ,
I saw your thread and messages and wanted to add to it. I have checked the Copy Menu on the printer itself (below), and it does not contain the option to copy in A4 size. You might just have to use the work around scanning method recommended above to get to use the A4 size you wish to use with the Photosmart 7520.
    Good luck

  • Apps not working on HP photosmart 7520

    Hello..
New here so apologies if iv posted this in the wrong place!
Iv just purchased a photosmart 7520 all in one printer and everything on it works perfectly apart from the apps on the touch screen. Everytime i touch an app or touch the icon to get more apps a blue circle appears and says apps updating... then within about 5 seconds it comes up saying cancelling and then goes back to the home screen?
I thought maybe it was because i had just set it all up and everything needed time to download and install but i set it up at 10am today and now at 7pm this is still happening. I have tried searching forums and googling my issue but i cant seem to find an answer anywhere, its almost like no one else has had this problem.
Its connected to my router and i know this connection is fine as i have printed off photos fom my iphone and sent pictures to it from my laptop wirelessly. Iv tried all the usual things like turning off and rebooting, disconnecting the wireless etc.
Any advise on this will be very much appreciated
    Thank you x

  • Photosmart 7520 Horrible Print Quality

I have purchased HP printers for years and have always considered them excellent and reliable products. About a year ago I purchased a Photosmart 7520. This has turned out to be the worst printer I have ever owned. The print quality is terrible and unreliable. The ink constantly streaks or doesn't flow properly. The ink cartridges last no time at all. I have constantly used the clean print head and align feature with only minimal and temporary improvement. I may have to throw this one in the trash and look at another brand.

I have to agree with you.  The HP7520 is the worst HP printer I have ever owned.  It streaks constantly on regluar paper, none of my previous printers did this.
I abandoned an old reliable printer for this printer just to get wi-fi network printing capability.  My old Brother MFC250 all in one printer was the first non-HP printer I had ever owned.  Previous to that I had several HP printers, and had worked supporting HP Corvallis' site in the 90's, so I am a fan of HP technology in general.
This printer has the following shortcomings:
    1) Ink cartridges are engineered to look like they contain ink... but are constantly running dry.  I do not print as much now as I used to in the past.  (*SMALLEST INK LONGEVITY*)... If the cartridges could be made any smaller... HP Marketing would have done this IMHO.
    2) Print output is constantly streaking, requiring the printer be "tuned up" constantly
    3) Print cartridge installation/sanity check is buggy/fragile, in one case a $12 print cartridge for Photo Black I installed this week was "damaged".   I bought another cartridge, and it too was "damaged".  A power cycle of the printer yielded non problem... just a wasted purchase and time to run out and buy a replacement cartridge to replace a newly installed cartridge that had no problem.
I *just* ran out of color ink, and I'm certain that this is indeed the worst HP printer I have ever owned.
Having said all of this... it looks nice on my desktop and the chimes are nice...
What would help is a better "you are running low on ink" indication with this printer.   If I knew say, a week ahead of time that I'm running out of ink... that would be nice.
This printer may need to be recycled once I can find a review of a better one.
My wife has an old printer somewhere in storage, we may pull that one out and dust it off and plug it into the router to have wireless printing... <sigh>.
Would *NOT* recommend this printer for purchase.... heading to Amazon to add that customer review.

  • Photosmart 7520 can't acquire IP address

I have a new Photosmart 7520 and I'm unable to connect it wirelessly to the network.  It is unable to acquire an IP address. I've tried the wizard as well as the set-up option and neither work.  The MAC filter is disabled.  Not sure what to do.

this printer has been a nightmare since I purchased it in January, I had the same problem, I struggled with it for a month before I gave in and phone HP support and they got it to connect but it took them 3 hours to do it, they promised an update
would fix the issue, have you turned on your printer to update automatically?, I got the update and it instructed me to turn off the printer so the update could take effect which I did. Could not turn it back on again so left it overnight but next morning it was the same and I had to unplug it from the wall and plug it back in again to get it to turn on. When I turned it on again I had lost my internet connection again, struggling to get it to connect again and called cloud support who set up a crazy IP address , no working printer and hung up after sending me an e mail to instruct my ISP provider how to make changes.
Called HP printer support and they got it printing again but I have lost web services, I can log in but it say's not connected to network so I have to call cloud services again. I have a 7510e photosmart printer aswell and never had all these problems.
Call HP and get them to set it up for you, I went thru 2 full sets of XL size ink cartridges and a full stack of paper, pretty expensive with the price of ink. Good luck.

  • HP Photosmart 7520 printer window displays "Loading" can't copy/scan/fax from printer.

Our power went out approximately five days ago.  Once the power came back on I unplugged our computer and printer, replugged them in tried to restart each.  We are set up wireless....through our landline phone service and satelite TV.  The PC works fine, I can print from the PC with the HP Photosmart 7520 printer and it prints fine.  However, the printer does not display any functions in the printer screen.  I am unable to get it to come back so that I can copy/scan/fax.  The printer window just keeps displaying the word "Loading" and the circle keeps going around on the printer screen (for 3 hours today.....same thing before....I keep shutting the printer down and retrying to no avail)  We did get a message of some error "syntec" not connected.  We have no idea what that is.  Everything is connected exactly how it was prior to our power going out.  The printer is just over a year old.  We seem to keep having issues of various kinds with this printer. We are not very tech savy but, can usually get things accomplished on our PC and we have used the printer often to copy/scan/fax.  Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

Welcome back to the HP Community @logger2 !
I saw your post about how ever since your power went out, the display on the printer will not function properly, causing you to not be able to scan, copy, or fax. My best suggestion would be to try another power reset (below), and if the screen still does not work properly, to contact us directly to see what your replacement options are for another printer.
    Reset Instructions:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power.

  • HP Photosmart 7520 All in one Error report

After installing a brand new HP 564 black ink cartrigde, every attempt to print something since installing it, I keep getting a Printer failure report on the printer screen : There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persist, contact HP. Then the report on my compuetr under HP Photosmart 7520  series (Network) reads: (next to red circle w/white x )   Missing or Failed Printhead
                                               Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black/PhotoBlack
The printethead appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible
I tried turning it off and on several times. Took cartridge out and put it back in. Searched cartridge well to see if there was anything blocking it. tried troubleshooting it through the Printer itself and from the HP help. tried contacting them but the number given is for a free Carribean cruise..So not very professional. Like I said , after installing a brand new HP 564 black ink cartridge, this started. i didn't get a chance to print anything.  Can I get help with this please?

    Hello Dumbazz77,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer giving the error " The print-head appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible".
I do have a few suggestions that we can try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error M...".
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Photosmart 7520 disconnects internet connection

I recently bought a Photosmart 7520 all-in-one which is connected to my home wi-fi.  It works fine except for one very annoying thing.  If I print something, leave the printer on and walk away, when I come back a while later my Mac has disconnected from the Internet.  Then I have to restart my Mac in order to regain access.  I can get around this problem by turning the printer off when I am through printing but that means I have to turn it on every time I want to print something - and then it goes through its start procedure which, I suspect, is not good for the unit.  As the printer sits right next to my Mac, I would be quite happy to just connect it via a USB port but I have not been able to figure out how to transition it off my wi-fi connection to an old fashioned cable hook-up.  Alternatively, I'm also happy to use the Wi-Fi connection if I can leave the printer on without disrupting my overall system.
    This question was solved.

    Hi @carmeljacques2
    I would be happy to help you with maintain your internet connection. If you want to simply connect a USB cable, proceed with the following steps;
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Connect the USB cable from the printer to the Mac.
Resetting the printing system will delete the wireless driver the mac is communicating to, and connecting the USB cable will add the USB driver.
If you prefer to keep the wireless connection, we will have to troubleshoot the issue to determine the root cause, and then work towards a solution. If you do indeed want to proceed with the wireless troubleshooting, please let me know if you at any point setup a static/ manual IP address for the printer.

  • Incompatible components Photosmart 7520

I was having network problems with my Photosmart 7520 - if I didn't turn off the printer after I used it, after a while my wifi no longer responded.  I tried to get around the problem by plugging the printer into one of the USB ports on my Mac and then the HP utility showed 2 printers .  However, now I can't print at all - I get a message "Incompatible Components - Some components installed on your computer were developed for another version of HP Utility. These components will not be loaded and some functionality related to your device will not be accessible. Please click HP Support item on the toolbar to visit HP Online Support site and download the latest versions of HP software." The online support website did not indicate any way to modify the HP utility software.  So I went to the user forum where I noticed a post for another printer with the same Incompatible Components message that recommended resetting the print system and provided steps to do this.  I removed both printers and then added back the one connected via the USB port (when I go to system preferences/printer it shows up as HP Photosmart 7520 series.)  But I can't print - the progress bar for the document I try to print starts up (ie there is a short blue segment) and then just hangs there.  I also tried the scan function and got a "no computer connected" message.  How do I solve the problem?  Thanks.

When all else fails, read the users manual.  It says that if you can't print, execute the HP Uninstaller and reinstall the software.  Did that - problem seems to be solved - I can print.  The only open question is whether the reinstall uses the USB connection (it seems to) or the wifi which was causing the problem.   For the moment I am hopeful.

  • Photosmart 7520--can't set up to wireless network

I set up photosmart 7520 on wireless network just fine out of the box.  a few days ago I couldn't print to it and now can't reset up on wireless network to print. Help!!!

    Hey jonathanray,
I see you are having an issue getting your printer to connect to your home network.  This thread is about the Photosmart 7520.  Is this the model printer you are working with?
You mention resetting the printer.  Did you simply power cycle the unit to Hard Reset the device or what type of reset did you perform?
Have you tried restoring the network defaults of the printer to see if it can connect after performing a Hard Reset to all devices in the network connection?
Follow these steps to reset your HP printer, your wireless router, and your computer.
Press the Power button on the HP printer to turn it off.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP printer.
Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.
    Turn off the computer.
    Wait 30 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.
Wait 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready.
    Turn the computer back on.
Wait for the computer to reload.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the HP printer.
    Turn the printer back on.
Press the Setup menu option on the front panel of the printer
    Select the Wireless submenu
Scroll to the bottom of the list and select "Restore Network Defaults"
Select Yes on the next screen
After performing these steps try connecting the printer again using the Wireless Setup Wizard in the Wireless submenu of the Setup menu again.  Does this help get the unit connected?
What brand/model of router are you using?  What is the name of the company that provides your internet service?
Let me know how this goes and the answers to these questions and I will do my best to provide continued support,
    Jason

  • Photosmart 7520 Embedded Web Services Administrator log in and password

I have a Photosmart 7520 and I am trying to use Embedded Web Services to modify some settings.
When I do so a screen pops up asking me to enter the User and Password. I dont recall setting this up.
    I have tried:
    1. User: admin password: [blank]
    2. User: admin password: admin
    3. User: admin password: password
I repeated the same but typed in Admin instead of admin for the above 3 options.
None of these work. I have searched everywhere for a solution but nothing.
I then tried to see if I could reset the printer into a state that is was in when I first unboxed it to start again. The only guidance on this for my printer is to turn the printer off by pushing the off button, unplugging it, waiting for a minute and starting again. That did not solve the issue either. The printer did not fully reset to the default when it was first unpacked and none of the above user password options worked.
There is nothing in the user manual on this.
Extremely frustrated having spent 3 hours of a Sunday trying to resolve this. Very poor!

  • Photosmart 7520 - can't send faxes

I've been trying to set this fax machine up for weeks, and I've finally got it to receive faxes, but I can't send them. I always get the error that says Fax Sent - Error 388* "A communication error occurred during the fax transmission. If you're sending, try again and/or call to make sure the recipient's fax machine is ready to receive faxes. If you're receiving, contact the initiator and ask them to send the document again." And one time it said as it was dialing, the receiver was off the hook and it listed a phone number that I never entered before. I've made sure they are ready to receive faxes, and they are. I've also set the Fax Speed to slow like someone recommended and I turned the ECM to off. Is there anything else I'm doing wrong? I have had many people send me faxes, but I just can't get it to send. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Interpreting Error Codes in Fax Communication Error or Fax History Reports
This error translates as a "noisy line".
The problem with phone lines is that you can use a noisy phone line for voice, that is, using the phone line to make a phone call and talk to someone -- and the problem of a noisy line is not apparent.  Noise on the line is not a problem for voice transmission; many phone lines are "noisy" due to age, animal damage, poor connections, or a variety of other technical issues.
Data transmission is another issue entirely.  "Noise" on the line can be a problem when trying to use that same phone line for transferring data instead of your voice.
Phone companies guarantee your phone line can be used to make phone calls.  If you want a clean, that is, a "not noisy" data line, in most cases you have to pay for that service.
Another possibility is that the phone line is OK; the location is not.  There may be other electrical interference: motors in heating / cooling equipment, lighting, other electrical issues in the vicinity.
    Ideas:
You can try a different phone line in your house.  It is possible the issue is that particular phone line in the house in which you live.  Not all phone lines running through the walls are equal.  Some lines are not connected as well as are others, some lines may have suffered damage, some lines may be older or be of lesser quality materials.
If the issue is not the phone line but the location due to other electrical interference, moving the printer may alleviate the problem.
Make sure all other phones, extra services that use phone lines, are other interference are eliminated from the phone line.
You can call your phone company and plead you case.  Depending on your phone company's policy, your location, the general condition of your phone lines, the location of the "noisy line" problem, your phone company might upgrade or repair your line service.
You can try adding a noise filter to your phone line.
