Turn X1000 into modem only ?
Hi guys, is it possible to turn my X1000 to modem only since I have router WRT54G and it has better wireless coverage ?
Thank you.
For me, Linksys X1000 offers better coverage than the WRT54G. However, if you don't want to configure the wireless settings of the X1000, then just simply access the modem-router's page and disable the network and security mode under wireless. Once done, X1000 will no longer broadcast its wireless signal which means it is only acting as a modem.

Thanks!Question #1
How do I use my Time Capsule as a router?
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your modem/router to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the Time Capsule.
Open AirPort Utility and click Continue to follow the guided setup to configure the Time Capsule to "create a wireless network". Select the "Bridge Mode" option when it appears during the setup. (AirPort Utility will normally do this for you)
Question #2
If I do this will I still be able to wirelessly back up to my Time Capsule?
Yes
Question #3
How do I turn off (wireless) or the router function of my modem/ router?
We prefer not to guess at things, but since we do not know the make and model number of your modem/router, and this is an Apple support area, we have little choice.
In general, you would enter the default IP address of the device into your browser to bring up the configuration pages (check your documentatio on the modem/router for this information, or it may be on the back or bottom of the device. An example of a default IP address is something like 192.168.1.254
There will be a wireless settings page that will allow you turn off the wireless function of the device.
If you acquired the modem/router from your service provider, they should be able to tell you how to do this as well, or if you check the manufacturer's website, they will likely have a support area for questions like this.
Question #4
I then want to connect all my wireless devices to my Time Capsule making that
the main WIFi in my house.
You will need to log on to the Time Capsule wireless network from each device and enter the password to connect. Most computers will "remember" the setting so that you do not have to enter the password each time that you connect. -
can turn my phone on only when plugged into the power. everything is still accessable on the when when this is done. but it cant pick up a signal its just serching.
a message says i need to connect to apple/support but i can plug into the computer as its not getting any power and i cant turn on.
I need pictures and stuff baked up on it as i dont want to loose them.
I think the battery/aerial in stuffed as it go some water on it.
will it be possible to save the data when getting repaired???Hello there stidhambr15,
I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.

Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.

Laserjet 2605dn - how do I turn it into a black and white only printer?
How do I turn it into a black and white only printer?
I just bought ink replacement for a whopping $563 which is way too much. My ink supplies have run out. I replaced the Balck ink but the printer is stuck in the "replace supplies" error w/ orange light flashing. Is there any way to re-configure the printer to only use as a B/W printer?Found myself in the same boat. Try this link, worked for me
ebay review
As for printing in B&W only, I don't think this printer has that capability, at least from what I've read.

I have tried to do as much digging on this subject as possible and cannot find what I thought would be a fairly straightforward answer to the question of whether or not it is possible to use the HH3 as purely a modem.
Let me explain a little about my situation first:
I am currently in an area that is supplied by Virgin (whom I am more than happy with) but am about to move into an area that is not cabled, therefore my broadband options are limited but BT would seem to be the best option for me.
I currently have a Netgear WNDR3700 Router which is both Gigabit and dual band wireless, which sadly the HH3 doesn't appear to be, therefore I want to let the netgear handle all network related actions (including DHCP etc...) and have the HH3 act as nothing more than a modem that supplies internet access to the above router.
As above, I currently have the Virgin equivelant of the HH3 (the Virgin Superhub) and whilst it can act as both modem and router in one, it has the option to turn it into a modem only so I can utilise the far superior qualities of the netgear router.
As I was hoping to not have to spend any more money on moving such as a new router/modem, is it possible to use the HH3 as described? I really do not want to ahve soem frankenstein system by where the router gets to do some fo the jobs but the HH£ does the others as this is just asking for trouble and poor performance. With luck your line will be better than mine
Have a look at this thread which is relevant although it is on the infinity board http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/List-of-Routers-to-replace-Home-Hub-3/td-p/298203 and this http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/wireless/hh3replace.html if you scroll down to the bottom of the page on the last link the main menu refers to Keith-Bs font of knowledge which is frequently referenced on these forums -
Configure Home Hub 5 as modem only?
Yesterday I received my BT Home Hub 5, plugged it in and it worked on my existing 4mb ADSL broadband connection. On Monday I will be switched to 76mb Infinity 2, so what's the problem?
I have a lot of IT kit as I run an IT business and often work from home. Before Chistmas I purchased a Netgear DGN4000-100UKS N750 Dual Band Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router to accompany my existing Netgear R7000 Nighthawk. The Nighthawk is setup downstairs and acts as a wireless router only, with the new DGN4000 being my modem + wireless router upstairs. Both share the same SSID's so that when wandering around the house, there is full wifi coverage with devices seemlessly switching between them. There are lots of useful features on both routers, many of which I use to control access, including IP address reservation as I need to ensure some of my kit ALWAYS gets the same IP address.
Needless to say I've invested a lot of time and effort getting my home network setup and it works very well.
Enter the BT Home Hub 5. This is clearly aimed at the general public and is a simple "plug and play" device, with barely any additional features. It was my hope to continue using the Netgear DGN4000 as my modem router when I got BT Infinity, but I only realised yesterday (after finally performing some research) that BT Infinity uses VDSL and the DGN4000 is ADSL2+ compatible, so the modem will not work from Monday!
Never mind, I thought, I will simply configure the BT Home Hub 5 to be a modem only and continue to use the powerful routing features of the DGN4000, however, this doesn't seem to be possible.
Has anyone any experience of using the BT Home Hub 5 as a "modem only" despite not being able to switch off the router functionality? I can obviously switch off the wifi, but what about the cabled connections? I'm aware I can connect my DGN4000 to the Home Hub and my suspicion is that I could setup the IP addresses such that the DGN4000 is the gateway for all devices (as it is at the moment) and so will continue to issue IP addresses using DHCP.
If anyone has already done this or tried to do this I would appreciate a heads up. Is it possible? Does it work well? Am I wasting my time even trying and I should just purchase a decent VDSL compatible modem router that provides more than basic settings?Having spent most of today researching and "playing", I've now managed to get the HH5 to work alongside all my existing kit. Hopefully this should continue to be the case tomorrow when BT Infinity 2 is switched on at the cabinet.
To summerise, my existing setup includes two Netgear modem routers configured as follows:
- DGND4000 - This is used as the modem and a wireless router (dual band). It is also the DHCP server and has the IP address reservation table setup.
- Nighthawk R7000 - Configured as a dual band wireless access point, so NO modem or DHCP functionality. As part of the AP config, the Gateway IP address is set to that of the DGND4000, so any devices connecting to this router will be routed through to the DGND4000. The purpose of this second modem router is simply to give a greater range as a single wireless router will not cover the whole house.
For information, the IP range on the DGN4000 DHCP is set to use the 192.168.0.* subnet.
I tried various configurations, but any time both the DGND4000 and HH5 were included on the network none of the clients could get internet access. Even when the HH5 showed a blue light, indicating a successful internet connection, it appeared that the DGND4000 was still trying to get its own internet connection, probably because none of the config told the DGND4000 not to do this! Even connecting the HH5 into the WAN port of the DGND4000 didn't prevent the DHGND4000 from trying to get an internet connection, which surprised me (not sure why it should!). Whenever the DGND4000 couldn't get an internet connection, none of the clients connected to it could reach the internet - to be expected really! Of course, I also had to ensure the HH5 was on the same subnet (this was my thinking at the time). This wasn't too onerous, but required a direct connection to a laptop that wasn't on the network and that had a static IP address set to the default subnet provided on the HH5 (192.168.1.*). This was also required due to DHCP being turned off on the HH5.
Anyway, enough about the problems I encountered, what was the solution?
It's simple really and is thanks to the following article:
Setup a Second Wireles Router on Your Home Network
The title is a little misleading as in my network setup I already have two wireless routers and this is achieved by configuring one of them as an Access Point.
The trick to getting the HH5 to act as a modem is to put it in its own subnet and to then bridge between the two subnets identifying the HH5 as the WAN!
Here's some detail behind the configuration I performed:
HH5
Turn off both wifi bands
Turn off DHCP (probably not necessary, but I feel it is a cleaner solution)
Leave the IP range at the default (192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.256). This is the first of the three options.
Leave the IP address as 192.168.1.254
Plug the HH5 into the mains and into the telephone point. The blue light should eventually be shown indicating it has an internet connection.
DGND4000
This Netgear modem router has "everything" switched on i.e. DHCP, modem, wifi.
Set the IP address to 192.168.0.1 Note: this is a differnet subnet to the HH5 i.e. it is 192.168.0 rather than 192.168.1
The IP range for DHCP is set to 192.168.0.3 to 192.168.0.256. This is how it has always been set for my network. Note: the start IP address of 192.168.0.3 allows for 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 to be used for my two Netgear modem routers.
Now the clever bit:
Within the Internet settings, change the "Does your internet connection require a login?" to No. This had always been set to Yes on the DGND4000 along with the required account name and password. Setting it to No, removes the password field and provides additional fields to allow LAN details to be entered:
Set the Internet IP Addres as follows:
Use Static IP address
IP Address: 192.168.1.253 (this can be any IP address in the 192.168.1.* subnet as long as it isn't the same as the HH5! I chose a high address, not that it matters as none of my clients are on this subnet anyway). This essentially assigns a local IP address to your Internet connection, which will be used by the LAN to access the internet. Usually, the Internet IP address would be assigned by your ISP (either static or dynamic).
Gateway IP Address: 192.168.1.254 (this MUST be the IP address of the HH5)
Domain Name Server (DNS) Address
Use These DNS Servers
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.254 (again, this MUST be the IP address of the HH5)
Now use a network cable to connect the HH5 to the DGND4000. On the DGND4000 plug the cable into the WAN socket (NOT one of the 4 LAN sockets). Plug the other end of the cable into the LAN socket on the HH5 (NOT the WAN socket!).
Turn on the DGND4000 and hey presto internet access without a telephone cable being connected to it! In terms of lights on the front panel of the DGND4000 the only difference is that the DSL light is no longer on. The internet light should be green (it is getting internet access through the HH5 via the WAN socket) and all other lights are unafected by the config.
I hope this information proves to be useful to someone trying to incorporate the HH5 into an existing network and using it as a "modem only". -
HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000!!!!!! READING THIS COULD CHANGE
YOUR LIFE!
I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A
little while back,
I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and
came across an
article similar to this that said you could make thousands of
dollars within
weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought,
Yeah right,
this must be a scam, but like most of us, I was curious, so I
kept reading.
Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names
and address
stated in the article. You then place your own name and
address in the
bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least
200 newsgroups.
(There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So after
thinking it over, and
talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I
figured: what
have I got to lose except 6
stamps and $6.00, right? Then I invested the measly $6.00.
Well GUESS
WHAT!!...
within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was
shocked! I figured
it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my
first week, I
made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a
total of over
$1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's
still growing.
This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just
over $42,000.00
and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00,
and 6 stamps,
I have spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you
how this works
and most importantly, why it works....Also, make sure you
print a copy of
this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as
you need it. I
promise you
that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will
start making more
money than you thought possible by doing something so easy!
Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (Print it out
or download
it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money come
in! It's easy.
It's legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage)
IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it is
not illegal; and
it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!! If all of the
following
instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary
dividends.
PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and
$50,000 or more can
be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful
because of the
honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue
its success by
carefully
adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of the
Mail Order
business. In this business your product is not solid and
tangible, it's a
service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists.
Many large
corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists.
However, the
money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income
which is made
from people like you and me asking to be included in that
list. Here are the
4 easy steps to success:
STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the
following on each piece
of paper; PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST. Now get 6 US
$1.00 bills and
place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill
will not be seen
through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one
paper in each of
the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed
envelopes, each
with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and
address, and a
$1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS
ABSOLUTELY
LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are
paying for it!
Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried
about the
legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S.
Post Office
(1-800-725-2161) and they
confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to
the following
addresses:

STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above,
move the other
names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc...) and add YOUR Name
as number 6 on
the list.
STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this
article as close
to
original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at
least 200
newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All
you need is 200,
but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
This is perfectly
legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302
& 1341 of the
Postal lottery laws. Keep a copy of these steps for yourself
and, whenever
you need money, you can use it again, and again.
PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because
of the honesty
and integrity of the participants and by their carefully
adhering to the
directions. Look at it this way. If you are of integrity, the
program will
continue and the money that so many others have received will
come your way.
NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to
you, either on a
computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you.
This VERIFIES that
you are truly providing a service. (Also, it might be a good
idea to wrap
the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.)
So, as each
post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed, six
members will
be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer
with one dollar
each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that
when your name
reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of
dollars in
CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of
the first six
people listed above) Send it now, add your own name to the
list and you're
in business!
---DIRECTIONS ----- FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS------------
Step 1) You do
not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own
posting. Simply put
your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your
cursor to the
bottom of this document, and select 'copy' from the edit
menu. This will
copy the entire letter into the computer's memory.
Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at
the top of the
blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will
paste a copy of
the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the
list.
Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you
want to do your
postings in different settings, you'll always have this file
to go back to.
Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching
for various
newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites,
discussions.) Step
5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new
message by
highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from
the edit menu.
Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone
sees as they
scroll through the list of postings in a particular group,
click the post
message button. You're done with your first one!
Congratulations...THAT'S
IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and
post away, after
you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for
each newsgroup!
**REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY
YOU WILL MAKE!!
BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200**
That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the
world within days!
You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large
amount of mail
you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can
invent a name to
use, as long as the postman will deliver it.
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** Now the WHY
part: Out of
200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low
example). So then I
made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of
the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200
postings, each
with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the
original 5,
that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200
MINIMUM posts with
my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an
additional
$125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the
MINIMUM 200 with my
name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an
additional
$626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625
persons post a
MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only
receive 5 replies,
that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those
3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups
with my name
at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will
receive
$15,625,00!With an original investment of only $6.00!
AMAZING! When your
name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest
posting in the
newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list,
putting your
name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to
remember is:
do you realize that thousands of people all over the world
are joining the
internet and reading these articles
everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford $6.00
and see if it
really works?? I think so... People have said, "e;what if the
plan is played
out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the
chances of that
happening when there are tons of new honest users and new
honest people who
are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are
willing to give it
a try?
Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with
thousands of
those joining the actual internet.
Remember: play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work.HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000!!!!!! READING THIS COULD CHANGE

but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
Remember: play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work. -
I have scanned some black and white negatives into my computer(iMac) where they are stored on the hard disc as positives. When I import them into iPhoto to print they turn back into negatives. How do I turn them back into positives?
That's because you scanned them as B/W photos and iPhoto 08 doesn't support the grayscale color profile. You can either rescan them as color photos or export them as originals out of iPhoto to a folder on the desktop and applhy this Automator application, Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB Profile, on them and then remimport into iPhoto. You can download it from Toad's Cellar . Be sure to read the warning on the website about not applying it on your only copies.

When I try to reorder different pages it just takes all the pages within the document and turns them into a stack! Why is this happening and how can I oder pages as the update is meant to let me?
Any Help?I know the update has only been out a while but if anyone has an idea why it is doing this, please let me know! But you are telling me something I already know.
Be precise.
It is not Pages '09 that is broken.
I am back in Mavericks and testing Pages 5.2.
There are improvements, we shall see how useful, but in less than a minute I have already discovered bugs.

How do I create a text style in CC libraries? Every time I drag and drop text into library form Photoshop or illustrator it turns it into a graphic.
If I select the text layer and click the text style button in the library it just creates a new text style for Myriad Pro 12pt - I'm not using that anywhere in my document.
Can anyone help? Seems like a bug to me as I'm trying what the video tutorials are saying.
ThanksI realize AI is an illustration program.
Do you realize it is an object-based vector-based program? Do you know the difference between raster-based and vector-based content?
My question seems to be all over the forum but no one has been able to answer other than exporting to these file formats, which make text look awful and of no use....
And yet everyone else in the world makes proper web images every day using a plethora of programs, including these...go figure.
Am I missing something?
Yep. Pretty much.
Hello Adobe! People use transparency on website logos.
Hello, cocteau! What you're calling "transparency" is inherent to object-based vector artwork. But web browsers don't support object-based vector artwork, except via file formats like Flash and SVG, or by viewing as a PDF in a plug-in version of Reader. Raster imaging in general only supports "transparency" by either indexing a specific color (i.e.; "don't display this color", as in GIF) or including an alpha channel (i.e.; "blend all the pixels with existing pixels, based on values from this extra channel", as in PNG). It's all in the raster file format you use, cocteau; it has little-to-nothing to do specifically with Adobe software. Such things are among the most basic matters understood by someone doing web design.
When I export an eps from .ai file, and open the eps in photoshop,...I save as a gif for the web, it goes back to the original problem...creates jagged text. I"m giving up on this garbage...Thanks a lot adobe! Lower the price of this software if this is all that can be done.
Once it leaves Photoshop (or Illustrator, or whatever) as a non-proprietary raster image format, it's all about what the format can do re "transparency". You can do this stuff with most any graphics program. You should read about basic web design and the differences between raster and vector content, rather than rant.

Turn Photoshop into Corel PHOTO-PAINT
At the request of a couple of Photoshop enthusiasts in these forums, they thought I should post this feature request.
In a previous discussion, harry teasley wrote:

May I suggest a single suggestion, "Turn Photoshop into Corel Photo-Paint"?
In support of Harry Teasley and Mark Reynolds, I have created these lists of features included in both packages, that if not ignored might win over some Corel PHOTO-PAINT fans. Not that Adobe Photoshop is hurting for more customer base, but you get the idea. Oh! And none of these suggestions would remove any of Photoshop's existing functionality!
Here's a list of features that Corel PHOTO-PAINT has that Adobe Photoshop does NOT (as far as I know):
Mouse wheel zoom snaps to 100%.
Zoom tool actually zooms to selection bounds, even if it's greater than the document's bounds.
Cutting, copying, pasting and deleting selected layers.
File >> New From Clipboard.
Renaming menu bar commands and moving/copying them around at will.
Mapping arrow keys to keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+up and CTRL+down are my favorite)
Interactive Object Transparency Tool (wineglass tool).
Swatches panel width @ 1 swatch wide.
Ability to have larger swatches.
Click and hold on a swatch to see warmer, cooler, darker and lighter versions of that swatch.
Clicking a layer in the document to toggle between transform, rotate, warp and perspective.
If you select a layer, perform a single action on that layer, and undo that action, PP doesn't select the previous layer you had selected.
Checkpoints.
Reasonable price.
And here's a list that neither Photoshop or Corel PHOTO-PAINT has (as far as I know):
Creating new menu bar commands (wherever you want them) and assigning scripts to them.
Mouse wheel zoom does not maintain position when zooming way out and back in.
Brush strokes are not natural like Corel Painter and have a "skip rock" side-effect to them (yes, even with spacing set to 1 and smoothing checked).
Adding an alpha channel to the standard color picker.
Fully supported PNG alpha (even Photoshop creates artifacting that I've only seen present itself in Maya, but Pixelformer fixes the problem and saves the PNG appropriately). (more info)
Granted, there are a couple of features that Photoshop has, even from a Corel PHOTO-PAINT-biased standpoint, that I find extremely beneficial!
The first opened or newly-created document opens maximized (small thing, but very handy).
Vector shapes (though, still not truly vector).
Layer effects (and the drop shadows are flawless).
The healing brush! Just awesome!
I'm sure there are a multitude of other features within Adobe Photoshop that I will grow to love, but these are the ones that stick out to me now, after having been forced to use Photoshop over the last couple years.
And I don't steal software either, so that's part of the reason I've grown up using Corel's products. He was trying to argue that Photoshop had a more reasonable price with Elements.
I was only pointing out that Corel also has a cheaper alternative to PHOTO-PAINT. In fact, you can't even BUY PHOTO-PAINT solo. You have to buy the entire Graphics Suite.
This wasn't always the case, however. -

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar -
My screen wont turn on, and the screen is black. It was working fine, but then it just turned off. The only way it will work is if I close my laptop, and pinch the two screens together
You have a hardware problem and you should take it into a apple store to be looked at and fixed.

i wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do? plz suggest
The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera. It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc. There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.

Turning string into Identifier
I want to create a jsp instanceof tag taht will take a string as an argument and turn it into tan identifier to test against. e.g.
String input = "java.lang.String";
// do somethinng to convert input to identifier object
boolean isInstance = anotherInputVariable instanceof new Identifier(input);
Is there a simple way to do this?
I also want to be able to cast the secondary input into the class represented by the identifier string.. e.g.
String g = (input) anotherInputVariable;
How would I do that as well?
Sorry if this is somewhat coherant... Im on a deathmarch coding project and my brain is awash.I want to create a jsp instanceof tag taht will take a
string as an argument and turn it into tan identifier
to test against. e.g.
String input = "java.lang.String";
// do somethinng to convert input to identifier objectSomething like this?Class c = Class.forName(input);
boolean isInstance = anotherInputVariable instanceof new Identifier(input); You can't use the instanceof operator, but the Class class has methods that will do what you want - check the API. However, use of these techniques is usually a sign of a bad design.
Is there a simple way to do this?
I also want to be able to cast the secondary input
into the class represented by the identifier string..
e.g.
String g = (input) anotherInputVariable;
How would I do that as well?Impossible - there is no runtime type casting. And it wouldn't do you any good anyway, because at complie time (when you're writing your code) the only information you would have available is that it's an Object, so those are the only methods you could use.
