i have rebooted and fixed it but everyother time it comes back

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, open System Preferences > Sound > Output, and choose "Internal Speakers".
If you don't see that option or if it's greyed, reset the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US This will reset speaker settings. Then, after starting, the speaker should be working. If not, open System Preferences > Sound > Output, and choose "Internal Speakers".
If nothing works, I recommend you to take the computer to an Apple Store so they can check if there's a hardware problem

That listed 7 hours is with very limited use. Low screen brightness, low keyboard backlight, No WiFi or bluetooth.
Most I have ever gotten from my 15" 2011 model is around 5-6 hours and that was with very light use. Just Web, Chrome, and email, thunderbird, and Wifi.

No audio. sound icon suddenly grayed out

A week or so after installing the Yosemite update, my macbook air went totally silent. The sound icon grayed out and the sound buttons show up a cross sign and there is basically no sound. Went to sound preferences and there is nothing in the output and input sections and the mute box is ticked and grey(can't be changed). What to do? this is ridiculous!

If there's a red light visible in the headphone socket, it indicates that the leaf switch is stuck. The leaf is pushed aside by the headphone jack as it's inserted and cuts off sound to the internal speakers.
Try inserting and removing the headphone plug a few (dozen) times.
If that doesn't work, you can attempt to tease the switch back with a non-conducting probe (plastic toothpick or similar).
And be careful; the leaf is fragile and it's an expensive bit to get to and replace, in fact on some models it's directly on the logic board.
Not sure how true it is, but at least one correspondent claims to have fixed it by cleaning the red laser with a Q-tip, on the theory that dirt on the end may fool the system into thinking a jack is inserted. Not convinced myself, but no harm trying it if you can't sort it the other way.

Screen turns alot of colors and sound contiues

I will be watching a video or coming back on after sleep and the screen will turn a bunch of colors. Some times the sound continues as normal, but other times a loud screeching noise starts. It has been happening for a couple of months. Its not very often just here and there. In the past when I had a PC and something like this happens it was the graphics card. It happened when I was running snow leopard and now I did a clean install of Lion it has happened for the first time last night. I have only had the 27inch mac for 5 or so months. Any advice?

However...
In your caes (having dropped the iDevice) it looks like a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is required... Be sure to make an appointment first...

I have a late 2007 17" MBP, so I am familiar with your model. I might also add that my original Fujitsu hard drive started to go south right after my Applecare expired, so if you still have the original drive, it could possibly be on its way out. To get a more comprehensive check of the physical health of your hard drive, you might want to download and run SMART Utility:

You can download the demo and run it several times for free.
Also, how full is your hard drive? If less than 10% free space, it is too full. 15%-20% free space is better.
You might try a Safe Boot:

Safe Boot disables quite a few things, one of which is start up items. If things seem OK in Safe Mode, you could probably go ahead and add a new account for troubleshooting. If the new account has no problems, then you have something wrong in your usual user account.
You can also look at what safe Mode disables to get a clue as to what might be causing your problems.

Dear Common Wisdom:
I connot find the botton to turn off the modem and ethernet icons that are taking up precious real estate in my top menu bar.
Can anyone help me turn them off?

Should be that easy, but not so, Joe.
When I do that the Wi-fi status disappears, but the modem and ethernet icons don't!!!
Anyway, I do want the wi-fi status. That is helpful.
Any other ideas?

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...

When you go to System Preferences > Sound what does it say for Output? Have you had headphones plugged in? Sometimes the headphone jack gets stuck thinking it has something plugged in when there isn't anaything there. SMC also has something to do with Sound:

Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.

My sound from Internal Speakers stop working and the icon get grey

Yesterday I use my headphones to listen music from my mac. Today after I turn on my notebook I saw that my sound icon is grey and when I try to change the level of the sound nothing happens. When I put again my headphones the sound works.
I also saw that I have no option to choose Internal Speakers in Sound menu.
Can you help me pls.

I got the solution !
The problem was at the Headphone's port. I reconnected my headphones several times till the problem disappeared. There was some red light inside the port.

HT201412 All sounds are mute tho mute is not on. Keystroke sounds and other phone sounds but they ring tones and notifications are still working period I have tried turning the phone off and on please help

All the keystrokes sounds in different sounds that go with the phone have stopped working do you know how to make them go again? The ring tones and notifications down this still work but not that keystrokes are other in phone sounds. Is there something I can do other than turn the phone off and on to restore them?
