Turning iMessage off on my ipad remotely
Hi,
I gave my ipad away but forgot to turn iMessage off before doing so. Is there anyway I can turn it off now so my messages from my apple ID aren't going there as well?
Have you tried changing your AppleID password?

Why can't I turn iMessage off on iPad 4?
I have iMessage off on iPhone 4S because so many of my friends/contacts are not on iMessage. Most because they can't have it.
Now I bought an iPad 4. When I turn off iMessage , a sign in screen covers my messages screen. And I have to sign in if I want to send any messages at all. As soon as I sign on the screen of course goes away but then it has turned iMessage back on
My son has an iPad 3. He is able to turn off iMessage and has no problem.

Thank youI am probably being dense. But iMessage is off on iPhone so nothing is selected . On iPad I have 1 email address picked which is my regular email and the @me account checked off. Then it has my phone number shaded gray which I am assuming is because the iPad is not a phone. What am I missing, any ideas? Thank so much

I have 2 Iphones, registered under the same AppleID. Mine, and my mom's. I recently (today) did the software udate for her phone, and ever since-she receives every message i send to my girlfriend, and every response that my girlfriend sends to me. I read up on Imessage, and checked the settings on both phones. On each phone "imessage"was turned on, so i turned Imessage off. Will this solve the problem of my mom receiving every message that i send and receive? Also, if i turn Imessage back on, on my phone-will i still have privacy to text?
Why not create a second Apple ID? Wouldn't that solve the problem much more straightforwardly?

Saved texts deleted after turning iMessage off
All my saved texts were deleted after I turned iMessage off. Anyone know why and how to get messages back without restoring?
If I try my app with the DefaultGrayPhone or QwertyDevice, it works ok, the data keeps stored after a turn the mobile off, like the DefaultColorPhone used to work.Looks like you're using WTK - right? When I had problems like you describe, I typically cleaned up appdb folder.
appdb folder is usually located in WTK installation directory. In some versions it could be placed somewhere in "user documents" directory.
Typically, I simply removed "DefaultColorPhone" subfolder of appdb. To be on a safer side, you better make a backup copy of this folder prior to its deletion.

If I sent an iMessage, then it told me it didn't deliver so I pressed send as text then I turned iMessage off.. When I turn it on will it re send the iMessage that was undelivered or not?
Turn off iMessage and Facetime. Put phone on airplane mode. Turn on iMessage then facetime and retry sending. You can also try turning off your phone instead of airplane mode as well.
Make sure for imessage to work there must be data such as cellular data on or wifi. -

Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Select the right facing arrow in a blue circle next to the email address this girl is sending iMessage to and select Remove This Email.
If she has your cell phone number, she can switch to sending iMessage to that and there will be nothing you can do, but removing the email address will prevent you from receiving an iMessage addressed to that email address. -

i no longer own an iphone and need to turn imessage off but i no longer have the phone at all so i cant turn it off myself
If youv'e ever called them they should have it on file. If you haven't call your carrier first and tell them that you need imessage turned off but don't have the imei number for the old iphone and ask if they still have it. Once you get it you can call apple and give them that number or have your carrier just route you straight to them.

Every time i turn iMessage off it pops up to turn it on right away. I want to be able to send messages to non iPhone phones. How do I keep that iMessage off
OK. Now I am confused. Why are you going back into Messages of you do not want to use it. You cannot Message with non iOS devices which I assume you do realize. So just don't use Messages.
If you have a texting app that you want to use, that should have no bearing at all what you do with the Messages app. Am I missing something here? It sure wouldn't be the first time for me ..... -

All my contacts use iPhones but one doesn't use iMessage because it uses data. I want to use iMessage for other contacts but i have to turn off for just one contact. Can I turn iMessage off for just one contact?
You need to delete here conversation and start another one using her phone number and not her Apple ID. You cannot delete iMessage, you can disable it. If the Apple server still sees her iPod with iMessage on and using her Apple ID, then it will continue to appear to your phone that she has iMessage. She needs to take a look at this support document about permanently disabling iMessage for her account. Can’t receive text messages on a non-Apple phone

Do I need to turn on iCloud Backup to,store data? Can I turn it off again so it is not on automatic and will resume syncing with iTunes?
You don't have to turn on iCloud backup to sync data with iCloud, but you do if you want to back up to iCloud. (You sync data with iCloud by going to Settings>iCloud and turning the data you want to sync with your iCloud account to On, and choosing Merge to upload your data.)
Also, backing up to iCloud does not prevent you from sycing with iTunes. All it does is cause your iPad to be automatically backed up to iCloud instead of automatically backing up to your computer each time you sync. And even if you are automatically backing up to iCloud, you can always manually back up to your computer using iTunes at any time by connecting your iPad to your computer, clicking on the name of your iPad in iTunes, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sycn settings, and clicking on Back Up Now.
You can, of course change back to automatically backing up to your computer using iTunes at any time as well. -
HI, I turned on restrictions to stop in app purchases, I've now turned them off on my iPhone using my code but it's still on, on my ipad (on the same user) the code won't work on the ipad so I'm really confused as I've not touched the restrictions on the actual ipad itself just through my phone. Can someone help?!? Thanks
Restriction settings do not sync across devices.
The iPad has a restriction code that is different to that of the iPhone. Someone set it up there, and it has nothing to do with the iPhone.
If you don't remember what it is, then the only way to remove it, is to restore the iPad to Factory Condition.
If you have a backup made before the restriction passcode was put in place, you can restore to that. -

When you turned it on right away, did it complete the activation process? When you go into Settings>Messages, does it show as activated? If not, then turn it off, wait about 15 seconds and then turn it on again. It should activate right away. If not, then see this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268

im not getting my TEXT messages anymore until i get around Wifi and then they flow in....i have Imessage on on both iphone and ipad...i tried turning OFF Imessage and they still dont come in!
If they are coming in when you are around wifi, are the bubbles blue or green? SMS messages (green) are cellular and wifi would have nothing to do with this. They won't be carried over wifi. If they are blue bubbles, then they are iMessages and are coming in when you get to wifi because you are finally able to receive data, since you say you have cellular data turned off.
