Turning iPod Touch off while music is playing

This is less a pressing problem than it is a slight annoyance, but I'm curious to know if it's happening to anyone else and if there's an easy fix. I've had my 8GB iPod Touch for three days, and I've noticed that if I shut it off while music is playing, when I turn it back on the song that is playing won't be the one I had been listening to, but one I listened to like three or four songs ago. This hasn't happened just once or twice, it's every time I turn the iPod off and then on. This Touch is the latest in a long line of iPods I've owned, and every one has always turned back on with the same song playing that I had been listening to when I turned it off. Is this some weird memory problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Elias,
I think what you describe is just the way the Touch works.
I hadn't really noticed it because I haven't turned my Touch completely of for months and months ('til just now), I just put it to sleep.
There is no need to turn it completely off unless your not going to use it for maybe a week or so, as I say, I just put it to sleep when I'm not using it and haven't had any problems with battery life. When I wake it up it starts off back where I left it.
If did plan to turn it off it would be because it would not be used for a long time and then I wouldn't even remember what was playing after that long.
Hope this info is of some use,
Dud.

  • Should I turn iPod Touch off, or sleep?

When I do not plan to use my iPT for many hours, e.g. overnight, is it "best" to simply let it sleep, or should I turn it off?

If it's going to be "down" for more that 3 or 4 hours then I turn it off.
Which will certainly do no harm. However, it's not necessary, nor will it harm the Touch if you don't turn it off.

  • How do I turn the metronome off while recording and playing back?

    It's quite annoying ... And I am a newbie.

Use the spanner/wrench tool to set options. You can disable it altogether, use it for count ins only, or even change the tone/instrument.

If you mean the headphones work but the speaker does not:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • Is it bad to turn your iPod touch off every night? If I don't, the screen will be blank/distorted.

I just got my new iPod touch from Fry's electronic, and just last night, I put it on sleep thoughout the whole night. I wake up, press the home button, and it lights up a gradiant grey-white. It happened the other day when I was playing with Draw Something. I then tried turning it off, and it took forever. But now its working. So I was wording if it's bad/not the best to turn your iPod touch off everynight, and if you do it?

I just let my iPod sleep overnight. I turn on airplane mode to minimnize battery drain.

is there anybody who knows how to turn external speaker off while listening on ipod mode in iphone 4?

I believe apple still use a mechanical switch in the headphone port.
If you are plugging in headphones and it's not autoswitching-clean out the headphone jack with compressed air.
Make sure the headphones are fully inserted.

  • (Item) was not copied to the iPod (Name)'s iPod Touch because it cannot be played on this iPod

Last week I purchased Star Wars the Clone Wars: Season 5 off of the iTunes store. I have purchased all previous seasons over the years and they have been able to play on my iPod. But when I purchased this new season, whenever I try to add the episodes to my device, an error comes up saying: "(Episode) was not copied to the iPod "(Name)'s iPod Touch" because it cannot be played on this iPod. This has never happened to me before, and I am very confused, and a bit frustrated. Does anyone know what this means and if there is a fix to it?

    Greetings Smallen8,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that while trying to sync a video from iTunes to your iPod touch, you receive an alert that the video cannot be played on your iPod. This can happen when you attempt to sync a HD video to your device. Please refer to the attached article for more information.
iTunes: Sync purchased HD videos to iPod or iOS device - Apple Support
When you try to sync a purchased HD video that isn't optimized for your device, you may see a message like this one:
HD videos purchased from the iTunes Store are offered in 720p or 1080p1 and are compatible with iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), Apple TV, and computers. You may need to download your purchased video from iTunes in the Cloud in a lower resolution for your device.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • Iphone goes to sleep while music is playing

iphone goes to sleep while music is playing
How can I play music without it going to sleep and stopping?

Going to sleep means the screen is off so music should not stop when the screen turns off.
Any change after powering your iPhone off and on and/or a reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release?

  • IPod Touch changed all music files to other

I'm using a 2nd Generation 16GB iPod Touch. My friend was playing with it yesterday, and he played with it till the battery was completely dead. I turned it on briefly and I looked at the music and I noticed that only one song was in my iPod, Hot for Teacher by Van Halen, a song I had bought earlier that day through iTunes from my iPod Touch. Normally I have over 6GB of music on it.
So I plugged it into my PC to charge it and such, and when I started iTunes and looked at that bar that tells you how much of each type of files you have (music, video, photos, apps, and other) I saw that I now had over 6GB of other and around 5MB of music. I think that my iPod somehow messed up when my friend used it till the battery died, and changed all the music to "other" except that one song.
So guessing this, I synced my iPod with my computer. I got all the music back on it, but now there is still 6GB of "other", and my iPod is nearly full. I want to know how I can remove all that "other", I never had 6GB of it before.
    Thanks.

That much other indicates corrupted data on your phone. The fix is a restore in iTunes. Here are the instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414. iTunes will reload your songs, etc after the restore.
