Turning mono into stereo

I record interviews on my ipod with a Belkin recorder. When I put the file into garageband and select voice, the recording comes out on one channel, either left or right.
When I put the same file into garageband as a guitar recording, it comes out stereo.
How can I get the recording to come out on both channels?
Ducker control is useless.

whenever U open new message the cursor by default is on the address field on the top, after adding the recipient press the joy stick down, it automatically switches to Alpha mode with predicive text on. If you dont want predictive text just press "#" fast.
There is one more way to do this, select "Menu" then go to "Settings" in the settings select "Phone" then in the Phone settings sub menu select "General" in the General setings scroll down to "Dictionary" press joy stick to switch it "On" or "Off".
Hope this will help. If not there is always UR user manual Pls refer to it.

  • Turn mono into stereo?  Duplicate channels?

I'm importing some old 8mm tapes and they come in with mono audio in only the left channel. I'd like to duplicate that audio onto the right channel, which I know can be done in PrePro but I can't find how to do it in Elements.
Is it possible? Any work-arounds to make it happen?

One thing that I probably should add, when creating 2-channel Audio, from a 1-channel Mono source is that a bit of spatial expansion can benefit the end Audio too. This can most easily be accomplished by using Duplicated 1-channel Mono sources, and then Panning one of those with a bias to the Left, and the other to the Right. This wil still not be true 2-channel Stereo, BUT it will "expand" the aural "stage" to the Left and to the Right, and even help create the "Phantom Center," that will exist in many true Stereo Streams.
Audio engineers, such as Bob Carver (Phase Linear and Carver Audio) have spent years researching ways to expand the aural stage, to create the most realistic listening experience possible, and mainly from Stereo sources. In Carver's case, it was "Sonic Holography," which is still stunning today, even though we now commonly have 5.1 and 7.1 Audio in our home theaters. Though a 1-channel Mono Stream can never be true Stereo (or above), it can sound very good, with but a bit of work.
Audio engineers can create a good facsimile  of a 5.1, or 7.1 recording, even when the original recordings were not done with 5, or 7 mics, as discrete Mono Streams. The faux-SS (Surround Sound), is accomplished with some Duplication of Audio Streams, a bit of Panning (balance), and Fading (here, biasing front to rear), then the application of a bit of Reverb and Delay. It just takes some tweaking, and some critical listening.

  • Mono into Stereo fill right doesn't work

    Hello,
I am trying to convert a mono track into stereo. When I put the fill right effect on the whole audio track goes dead. There aren't any levels or any other remote signs of the audio. Is there a problem with it and what is the work around?

Mono is one track of audio stream  ONLY so there is nothing to fill.
When you use the Fill L/R Effect... it does not create a stereo effect from a mono track.
It is designed to fill the left or right of a STEREO track with the respective audio as chosen.
eg. Record into camera with  2  different levels of audio ( hi / low) and choose the best in the edit
Essentially..the same audio is used on both stereo tracks.   ie result = same level, same quality, but no stereo effect.  Its just a Stereo track as 2 equal audio streams.

  • Convert Mono into Stereo

I am using an older lapel mic and it records in the mono format (I think). On playback I am only receiving sound out of the left speaker. How can I convert this, using Soundtrack Pro, either into a dual mono format or into stereo with the end goal of getting sound out of the left and right speaker?

I have several audiobook mp3 files which only have left channel sound -- makes the volume too low when I play the iPod through the car stereo when driving.
Is there a way to convert to stereo by just replicating the left channel?
    Thanks!
Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings, Choose "MP3 Encoder" and "Custom." When the "Custom" selections come up, set "Channels" to "Stereo."
Now, highlight the track in your iTunes library, and use the command "Advanced > Create MP3 Version." This should create a new version in stereo. It will leave the original in place, so you now have two. Make sure to use the newer one in the car.
I have not tried this but it should work.

  • Making Mono into Stereo

When I make a video, my recording equipment records in mono.  When I bring the video and audio into Premier Pro CS5, I want to duplicate the sound on the other channel thereby having a form of stereo.  In this way, the viewer, particularly if s/he views the video with headsets, will hear sound out of both ear pieces.  How can I copy a track that was recorded on, say, the left channel to also play out of the right channel?

You don't have to do anything special. If you use a sequence that contains at least one mono source audio track (that will contain the audio from your footage) and a stereo master track (this is the default), your mono clip will play through both channels of the stereo sequence.
This is what it will look like (notice the small speaker icons in the track headers):
You can either set up a sequence manually by going to File > New > Sequence and specifying the number and type of tracks you want, or just drag one of your clips to the New Item button at the bottom of the Project Panel (looks like a dog-eared sheet of paper). This will set up a sequence that matches your footage--including audio track types--and create a stereo Master track. When you play the sequence back, you'll notice that both the left and right channels contain the mono audio of your source clip. You can use the Audio Mixer to pan back and forth, if you like, but there is nothing special you need to do to create pseudo-stereo from your mono clip.

  • When i export a audio mono channel it turns into stereo

    hello
something went wrong somewhere along the way, now every time i export an audio channel it forms as a stereo channel.
by the way, how can i split a stereo channel on logic 9 into two seperate mono's?

    Hi,
1st: There's a little circle below the channelstrip's level meter indication mono or stereo. If it's a single circle, it's mono. If it's a double circle, it's stereo. You'll also see the level meter single or double. Look for the single or double level meter!!
2nd: Be sure you've created a mono audio track. If the track yo try to export is stereo (look at the level meters if they are doubled or not!), the resulting audio file will be stereo. That's because the export function puts the audio data through the circuitry of the track's channelstrip. If you put any Audio file, be it stereo or mono, into a mono track, the resulting export file will be mono. If you put any Audio file, mono or stereo, into a stereo track, the export's result will be stereo.
Experiment - there seem so be a little inconsistency when or when not logic switches a track from mono to stereo and back!
3rd: If you want to avoid the channelstrip alltogether, use the sample editor or the bin to convert the stereo file into split files (one for L, one for R)

  • Turning mono sound into stereo sound

Hi, would there be anyone here who knows how to unlink the L and R audio tracks to duplicate the track recorded with a mono mic so it comes out as stereo?
I also have Soundtrack Pro to work with, if that helps. Thanks a lot!

would there be anyone here who knows how to unlink the L and R audio tracks to duplicate the track recorded with a mono mic so it comes out as stereo?
    that would be manual/index/unlink.
Mon tracks can be simulated into stereo in many different ways. Duplicate the mono tracks to both L&R and change the pan slightly on each. You can add a slight bit of reverb to one or both or alter the EQ on one or both. There re other interesting filters like phasing you can apply from within Soundtrack Pro. Heck, might even be a section in the manual on how to simulate stereo imaging form mono recording.

  • Mono tracks into stereo

I am using commnad L to link two mono tracks into stereo.
The two tracks are of the same video material.
I need them linked so I can edit them in a smooth manner but when selcted and using the command L fuction they are not linked.
    How can I fix this?

You want to make the two audio tracks a Stereo Pair, by selecting them on the timeline and the using Option-L.

  • BH-903 turns mono instead of stereo

    Hi,
I have been using Bh-903 with e71 and earlier with E61i and was very satisfied with it. However since last week it has turned mono I can only hear audio from right ear and left has gone silent.
I have tried reseting the headset but problem remains.
I have tried with different phone problem is still same.
Any help or it has just broken...
    Chand

Stereo tracks should be unaltered.  What have you done?
this is how you should create it...
Right-click in this area and add new audio track...
    Select mono audio submix track...
A mono submix will be created in the mixer...

  • Mono to stereo in Garageband

Hi, I am a Mac and Garageband newbie. I have some old analog 8mm video that I converted to digital video and I am turning these into DVDs. However, the audio is all mono. It is all on the left channel. I am using iMovie to create the video and Garageband to add some music, chapter breaks, etc.
Is there a way to easily convert the mono sound to stereo? I don't care if it is the same sound coming from each speaker. I would just like sound from both.
    Thanks!!!

I am really struggling with this. I have just imported a movie into Garage Band but the sound is only coming out of the right speaker. I have adjusted the balance control towards the left but there is nothing, so I need to set the audio to mono. My problem is I cant find the option to do this. I have clicked on the Info window but cant see the option. How did you do it?
    Thanks in advance

  • Mono vs. stereo, answer to random resets?

i read elsewhere on the forums that if you have mono recorded songs it causes you ipod to crash. this is the problem im currently having, where it crashes randomnly as its shuffling through songs.
so how can i determine which songs are mono so i can get rid of them and see if this fixes my problem?

Honestly, it doesn't matter whether the song is mono or stereo for whether it will play or not, just to how it sounds. Is it just certain songs or does it do it completely randomly? If it is certain songs, then you have to remove those songs and reformat them so they are in a proper format. If it isn't that particular ones, then you have a corrupt iPod Control file on your iPod and you'll have to do a reformat. If you don't want to lose all your music because you don't have proper backups of it, there are a few ways around it. But before I get into that, let me know what you discover about which songs it is.

  • Mono to stereo or combine audio

I have an iMovie that is an electronic white board. I recorded an audio file from my Nikon (so I would think it would be stereo) and added that to the whiteboard video. I've been told the audio is mono, but I don't know how to verify that or how to correct it. 1. How can I tell if the audio track is mono or stereo? 2. If it is mono can I convert it to stereo or play it as mono on both tracks to simulate stereo? Thanks.

    Hi
In iMovie You can not do any of it.
    But You can
    • From Event's - iPhoto Videos take it and drop it into a new Project
    • From Project You export it as QuickTime and as Audio only (.aiff)
    • This file You can open in an Audio/Sound-Editor as Audacity (free on Internet) or GarageBand ( might work ? )
And here in e.g. Audacity You can see if the Right and Left track are identical = MONO or have slight differences. I do this by invert one track and add it to the other - if it is silent - then the tracks are in Mono if not then You've got a Stereo Sound from start.
    Mono to Stereo = Impossibly
Mono out via Left and Right speaker - Just copy the audio in one track and paste it into the other - BUT still when You listen all will come from center. Simulated Stereo - I've never seen any working application that can produce this.
When done in Audacity - then Save (still as .aiff) and import this to Your Movie project.
Far from so easy as in FinalCut Pro. Where You just pan audio to the other canal.

  • Your experience with Modify Clip "Stereo" or "Mono as Stereo"

    Using CS5.
When recording my project our audio was recorded externally.  I have all my audio tracks recorded as mono and I want to use all of the tracks as stereo.
I found instructions on how to do it, but I have some questions.
I highlight an unused audio clip on my project panel and then use Clip> modify > Audio channels.
Among the choices are Mono, Stereo, Mono as Steeo and 5.1
Since my clips are mono, I assume I should select "Mono as Stereo".   But is there a subtle difference to selecting "Stereo".?
In addition, I want to fill both right and left tracks with the recording that was recorded in mono.  I would like to avoid having to use the audio effects fill right / fill left.  I assume using either "Mono as Stereo" or "Stereo" will fill both right and left tracks -- but, again, is there some subtle differences -- or best practices?
    Thanks
    Rowby

    Hi Jim,
Just checked the "mono" track with my headphones -- and indeed you are correct. I hear it in on both channels.
So nothing needs to be done.
However, then, why does Premiere Pro have  these "features"?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7f41a .html
Thinking more about this, however, as I write this reply,I like putting a mono track directly above or below a stereo track -- and as you know, you can't put mono track into a stereo track (you have to create a new mono track, which is a minor pain) -- so that would be at least one reason to convert the mono to a stereo.....  I have to create a new mono track - and sometimes that track is far below the stereo track I want to mix it with.
I also notice this article which implies you can make it so when you import any track (mono or stereo) into premiere it will be (based on your preference settings) "converted" to  mono, stereo, mono as stereo) etc.

  • Audio capture Mono or stereo for a mono lav mic?

We recorded a video where we captured the sound using a lav mic recording mono on one channel.
When I capture the tape (audio and video) into Final Cut Pro, would it be better to capture in mono or stereo? Thanks.

Hi Jim, the filming is already finished. I'm talking about putting my footage into final cut. I just don't know if I should select mono or stereo in the clip settings when I capture from my camera.
That's what I was talking about too.
What is your final deliverable? for the web? For home enjoyment on tv, for broadcast? for cinema projection? Each of these has it's own aural space that you should be mixing for.
Personally, I like to put everything in the timeline, even if eventually I don't use it and remove it later. If for nothing else than the odd piece of room tone that becomes necessary.
But if you've got one person talking, in mono, bring him in in mono, and pan the track to where you want it in your mix.
