Turning OFF Adobe Reader XI Availability Notifications

Hi, can people recommend any ways of automating the removal of the Adobe Reader XI in the System Tray in Windows? (e.g. using SCCM or a script, for over 500 hundred machines)
It's a bit of an annoyance, and we'd prefer to use 9.5.4 as its more compatible with certain software people need to use.
Thanks

Correct me if am wrong, but it seems to me that you simply want to disable Updater notifications to Upgrade from Reader 9.x to Reader XI.
If that is the case and you do not want to actually disable Updater, you will need to set    iDisablePromptForUpgrade
DWORD value to 1 in the registry below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM
on 64bit OS
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM
on 32bit OS
If you actually want to disable Updater completely, the proper way is to set bUpdater DWORD value in the Policy registry for the Adobe Reader.
see this link for example-

  • How can I turn off Adobe Reader X Popup Bubbles Permanently?

I feel like I've gone backwards ten years to the first version of Windows XP, when everything resulted in an annoying popup or dialogue or bubble that required my attention and my intervention.  My hope is for Adobe to learn the lesson that Microsoft learned ten years ago.
Adobe Reader X is full of popups.  How can I turn them off permanently?  I've spent hours searching the internet and the forums.  I've seen the messages that explain dismissing a popup on a document permanently turns it off for that document.  I've seen the message that reveals a registry key called "bShowTaskButtonInfoBubble".
But I want to turn off the popups for all documents permanently.  I don't want to navigate to the tiny little 'x' on the bubble of every document.
The bShowTaskButtonInfoBubble key doesn't exist anywhere in my registry.  I'm comfortable searching with regedit and making changes.  The key doesn't exist.
How can I permanently turn off Adobe Reader X popup bubbles?

In my earlier message, I explained that I found such a message.  It was the
exact same message you're showing me.
Now what?  As I explained, that key doesn't exist in my registry.  Is it a
    Boolean?  a DWORD? or what?
BTW, it's not risky to "search" the registry.  It's risky to "guess" what
kind of change to make to your registry and then change it according to
    your guess.

How do I turn off the updater. I got 2 replies from the help desk and neither worked.

  • Cellular data turned off - getting rid of the notification

    Hey everyone,
Currently with my iPhone 4, I've been experiencing more of a nuisance than a problem.
Whenever I'm away from home and really want to save battery, I'll turn off my wifi. However, since I have only 200MB a month, I also turn off my cellular data in order to avoid going over my plan. Because the iPhone is such an ingenious device, it finds the need to tell me every minute or so that my cellular data is turned off. So I just press okay and continue on with texting or whatever I was doing. And then it'll interrupt again. And again. You get the idea.
Any way to turn this notification off? I've turned off all of my push notifications, including email. Help would be very much appreciated.
    Nick

    No-one from Apple here sorry!
I run my iphone 4 the same way,
mobile data turned off almost always.
Wifi off sometimes, but often without a signal.
I only get the pop up when I open the mail app, maps, browser or anything that uses the net.
    No pop ups or complaints.
I also have 4.1 installed, and game center can be started and looked at with out network or wifi with no pop-ups.
So I am assuming that's not it.
    Check your mail settings.
Push should be off; mine is set to fetch "Hourly" (and still with out wifi or network it doesn't bother me unless I actually open the mail app).

  • Turn off Adobe's chrome

Boy I'd love to be able to turn off Adobe's built-in interface elements, or sometimes to use some but not all.
A truly flexible platform for building apps allows for a custom UI; when we were weighing Adobe vs. Woodwing, the most important thing Woodwing had going for it was the ability to turn the woodwing-ness of it off and build your own navigation.
Every Adobe app is identifiable as an adobe app; this is not a great thing for developers or users. The relatively large footprint of the Adobe chrome is also a big negative for me. Mostly, though, it's the inflexiblity here. Everything about DPS is pretty flexible, except this.
(Everyone else's suggestions are great -- buttons in MSOs is a limitation I'm hitting this very moment.)
    David

yeah, I totally support that! the viewer interface does not help of you have
your own ideas... but then, nested interactivity (and other things) are
needed to create real user experiences.
without that, we only add interactivity to horizontally and vertically
    aligned pages.

The read receipts you are seeing are for the other person when they have read your messages.
On their iPhone they have Settings > Messages - Send read receipts to On.
The settings on your iPhone are for sending a read receipt to others. With this Off, they will not get a read receipt when you read their messages.

  • Is Adobe Reader 7 available?

I'm having trouble downloading bank statement because their website requires that I have Adobe Reader 7 - my system has Xl. Is Adobe Reader 7 available - I can't find it on the website.

Adobe Reader 7 is available, but really - I cannot imagine that any business would require such an old Reader version (released almost 10 years ago).
Newer Reader versions are backwards compatible, and I cannot see a need to install an old Reader version that is no longer supported, and that is highly insecure.
If you still want to go ahead with installing Reader 7, you need to
    uninstall Reader XI
    understand that it's not secure
understand that it will not support modern PDFs like forms
understand that it will not be able to view documents that were created in PDF 1.7 format
You can download Reader 7 from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.1.0/enu/AdbeRdr710_en_US.exe (English version 7.1 for Windows).

  • How do I turn off the pop up blocker notification?

I have been searching for the method to turn off the notification that a pop-up has been blocked. There is supposedly an icon somewhere that I can click to tell Firefox not to send me the message. I have left clicked, and right clicked in the places that look like possible options, but do not get the option to turn off the notifications.
The notifications are as irritating as the pop-ups. Please help.
    Thank you,
    René Marlin

hello rené, you can enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''privacy.popups.showBrowserMessage''' - double-click and toggle that entry to '''false''' in order to hide the popup notification bar.

  • How do I turn off the "reading untagged document" prompt?

Assume this is a new feature added in one of the multitude of updates that I get prompted for?  All of sudden today, everytime I open a PDF file from an email, I get the "Reading Untagged Document" pop up that's telling me my document is "untagged and must be prepared for reading".  Uhhhh, no it doesn't because I can read.
    thanks..

There is no way to turn them off as Adobe, in their infinite wisdom, assumes everyone wants to see this as it's part of Assessibilty.
That said, there is a work around, but it involves removing or renaming files in the Adobe install directory.  Basically you want to remove or rename the following files:
    <your_adobe_installation_path>\Reader\plug_ins\Accessibility.api
    <your_adobe_installation_path>\Reader\plug_ins\MakeAccessible.api
    <your_adobe_installation_path>\Reader\plug_ins\ReadOutLoud.api
The easiest method is to create a "backup" folder somewhere (it can be in the Reader folder) and simply move those 3 files there.  The benefit for this is Adobe Reader runs a lot faster and the annoying document preparation is disabled.  Why Adobe doesn't allow users to disable these through the preferences is beyond me since that's the first thing I think everyone does after installing Adobe Reader.

  • N95 - Turn off the search for available wireless n...

    Hi,
This is a strange problem - I think...
My N95, will at randon times, and not very often, automatically search for and detect wireless networks in my area, which will then prompt me to select one.
I have turned the Wireless LAN availability setting to never search for Wireless LANS - which was previously set to scan for networks every 5 minutes. (Under Tools-settings-connection-wireless LAN)
The bizarre thing about it all, is that it will often automatically search and detect wireless networks when my phone has been on charge for a long period of time, and not normally at any other period of time.
Does anybody know if there is a further setting somewhere that I could change? or perhaps point me in the right direction, but I do realise that this could well be a unique problem.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.Message Edited by t2303 on 07-May-200710:58 PM

Hello. I have a wireless network at home and have connected my N95 in the past.
I did too turned off the ability to search for Wireless Networks from the STAND BY SCREEN but I have noticed that an icon with 4 squares appeared. I was puzzled and went through the manual to check what it meant. It meant that there were available wireless networks in the area close by, obviously my home network.
Note: since my N95 connects automatically to my network it never asked for a password or connection.
If the above sounds like your problem try the following:
Press the menu button and navigate to
Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Wirelesl LAN
and set "Show WLAN availability" to NEVER.
This helped me on saving on battery.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Turn off Lightroom 5 Undo/Redo Notifications that show up over the photo.

Is there any way to turn off the notification that comes up whenever I undo/redo something in Lightroom 5? It shows up on the lower side of the middle of my photo and is very annoying when trying to edit photos.
Shown in this photo: "Undo Exposure = 0.84 (+0.84)"

    In a word: no.

You could set your phone to silent  http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Software-Updates/Lollipop-New-Features/m-p/955490#U955490 It's not ideal but it does the trick.  I agree with you, I wish we had an option that if an app/game it's on immersive mode, like while using the camera, we had an option to deactivate the notifications popping and/or the notifications without having to set the phone to silent.

  • Adobe Reader X Tracker Notifications

    Hi,
does enyone know how to disable/uncheck enabled by default "Show notification icon in system tray" in Preferences-Tracker - Notifications by Group Policy/using registry/or any other way?
Found in registry record - HKCU-Software-Adobe-Adobe Synchronizer-10.0-bShowNotification , change from 1 to 0 - launch Adobe Reader and this record goes back to 1.
Possible somewhere else is written this value.
googling and searching in this fourum doesn't brought any results.
    Thanks in advance.

Try using a different web browser. I was having this same problem when I was using Firefox, but then tried it in Opera and it worked like it was supposed to. I guess Adobe was in too much of a rush to release another product that they neglected to make sure it worked...They would get an 'F' in a software engineering course.
