TURNING OFF ANTIVIR SEEMS TO SOLVE AUDIO DROP OUTS!!!

To all XP Pro users: try to turn off your AntiVir or a similar 3rd party service and figure out if your audio drop outs are gone.
In my case it is. VICTORY!!!

Victory too early. Still some drop outs but very rare. Probably I have another 3rd party service which affects AirPort Express? Don't know, I'll give up and live with this piece of sh*t.

  • AntiVir Guard responsible for audio drop outs?!

    Hi,
after an intensive testing session with my Dell Inspiron 9300, Zyxel Prestige and AE 6.1.1 - 6.3 with WPA I went back to unsecure WEP and AE 6.2.
Everything works again without dropping AE due WPA authorization problems. But I still got audio drop outs.
A half an hour ago I turned off the AntiVir Guard. Since that Airtunes seems to run fine. Interesting.
Probably I will do a WPA session again to figure out if AntiVir was the main reason. But first I let run iTunes a few hours to get sure.

Hmmm ... AirTunes runs better now, but I still have some drop outs. Could also be channel related?!
At the end I come to the conclusion: Apple should work on that.
I'll give up and will live with some drop outs till then.

  • How do I turn off automatic streaming of MP3 audio?

I like to download podcasts directly to my desktop so I can later transfer them to my Sansa media player. Now that I've installed Quicktime podcasts stream and play automatically in my Firefox browser window. What settings do I change to turn off automatic streaming of MP3 audio?

Well, in fact I have the same problem. And by the way, I dislike marketing tricks as proposing that you buy the pro-version of quicktime if you ever want to download mp3-files again (as a right click on the quicktime browser-player does).
I already switched off every file link and stream-related ghismo that points towards quicktime as player, in the quickime control in control panel as wel on any other place I could find.
But the only thing I acchieved is, that IE now starts downloading as soon as I go to a link to an MP3 file and after some time it says "ready".
An firefox stubbornly keeps opening the quicktime player.
I tend to disagree with IE as I can't find any file on my system, with regardless what searching technique.
Is there a way to get things back to normal without uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling my browsers (wich is useless as Itunes will prompt me to reinstall quicktime)???

  • Very Brief Audio Drop Out in Sequence

In one particular part of my sequence, I'm experiencing a very brief audio drop out (which effects the entire audio) timeline. For example, I have a clip of a car starting and revving up. Two seconds into that clip, ALL audio drops out for a frame or two and then comes back in again. It sounds like everything in the audio timeline was cut and moved down a few frames (and the playhead is passing over that gap).
At first I thought it was my media clip so I switched it out by deleting it from my bin and capture folder. I recaptured it and used it again. Same thing. As an experiment, I then tried placing some other audio (from another clip) in that same area of the timeline to see if it happened there too. It did. I then made a new sequence and copied and pasted the affected audio and video it in there. Same thing. I never mixed down audio but saw that this was a suggestion on the forums. I tried that but it was still happening.
By the way, when the audio cuts out, ALL TRACKS cut out, so it's just not limited to a certain clip in a certain track.
Would anyone be able to shed some light on this? Is anyone else experiencing this?
    Thanks everyone!

_*(SORRY, I DIDN'T MEAN TO POST THIS TWICE) Didn't think the last response went through_.*
Thanks, David. That solution sounds interesting and I'm going to give it a try. I appreciate your quick response, too.
I went back and tried something else, too.
By going to VIEW > EXTERNAL VIDEO > and choosing OFF, I was able to solve the drop out problem. I don't know HOW or even WHY this happened but it seems I can narrow my investigation to my exterior monitor and stereo or my audio/ video card or the actual firewire 800 cable running between the two. I always edit with an external monitor so I've got to jump on this issue quick.
When I turned external viewing back ON again, I got some very weird, garbled audio and static. Turning it off solved the problem. Do you think my video or sound card are going belly up? I have the stock card on my Mac (NVIDIA GT 120).

  • Audio drops out when following video to external monitor

When I play a sequence to an external monitor, the audio drops out for 2 to 3 seconds after changes on the video track, and then pops back in with no interuption in video output. It doesn't happen at every cut, but it's consistent in the places it does. I thought it might be caused by the size the project has become. So I exported the sequence as a quicktime file, closed the lage project, opened a new one and exported the new file and played it and it happened again, even though there were no edits. It doesn't occur at all when I turn off external video, and play it on the computer. I connected a new firewire from the computer to my DV deck, restarted the computer, but it keeps happening.
Is it that the dramatic change in color, light and compostion crowding out the audios ability to follow the video through the wire?
I'm completely stumped. The next step will be to open the computer and try to blow any excess dust out. I do this periodically anyway, and my last time was two months ago, so I'd be surprised if it works.
Maybe the G4 with 2G processing power can no longer handle the program, but it shows no sign of stuggle in any other way.
My clients are starting to grow restless.

Thank you so much X & Paul, for your suggestions. Although they didn't solve the problem, they kept me hopeful enough to continue my quest for an answer. After exhausting all effort to find the problem in the audio, I decided to focus on the video. So, I tried correcting the excess luma on the consolidated QT movie, and suddenly the problem was fixed. Because of the different levels of correction I'd need for each and every cut in the original sequence, and the precious time it would take, I'd planned to save it for the color correction stage, a mere 2 weeks away. I remembered how illegal white would often cause the image on some monitors, specifically consumer TVs, to waver for a second. But this was happening all the way back to the DV deck's audio meter, so I never expected it to be a luma issue.
I assume that the outdating capacity of my G4 played a part, but I wanted to write back with my thanks, and to impart my illuminated wisdom to the next perplexed soul.
    Thanks again,

  • Audio Drops Out at End of Imported Clips

    Hi, Guys,
I have read everything and tried everything, but I can't find a solution to something which seems like it should be obvious:
I am in the process of uploading some TV programs to YouTube. I am using iMovie '11 to cut them into chunks of less than 15 minutes each. When I import the material into iMovie from a file, iMovie automatically breaks the source material into ~5 minute clips. For some reason, the sound for the last half-second or so at the end of each clip is automatically muted by the import process. Needless to say when I cut the clips back together in an attempt to recreate the video stream as it originally was, there is a half-second of audio drop-out marking the spot where the clips are welded together.
How can I get this to stop???
I notice that the advertising makes a big point of 'iMovie HD' allowing the user to adjust the length of the clips that it cuts source material into during import. Please tell me this is not a work-around for this problem 10 years after-the-fact!
    Thank you.

I used to have a saying which I applied to John Cage's compositions:
"He's got nothing to say, and he's saying it. And that's BS."
Faceless capricious corporate censorship is good HOW?
As regards iMovie '11 muting a short bit of audio from the ends of clips, it turns out to be the beginnings of the clips:
My prior post uncovered a very different problem in my process. (At the time, a virtually non-existent process!)
    Now I have learned my up the learning curve to the point where I am beginning to actually use some of the functionality in iMovie '11. Unfortunately my original observation of "a bit of sound" (50 to 100 milliseconds) disappearing between clips is still a problem. Here are 3 minimalist examples in the form of short test vids: {Just click "Play all". Titles projected over the vid list what you are hearing. The "about box" (YouTube "Description:" field) contains even more detail.}
    http://www.youtube.com/viewplaylist?p=7E219251FC3C5FEC
I can now characterize this problem in more detail than I could previously:
The first 50 - 100 milliseconds of sound are squelched in the beginning of a clip when it is uploaded to YouTube from iMovie. This is NOT a YouTube transcoder issue. Reloading multiple copies of the same clip into iMovie yield the same result there: Dead sound between clips.
This demonstrates that iMovie chops the first ~50 milliseconds of audio off of the beginning of a vid when it "shares" (exports) it. Apparently the missing audio in some way becomes an "attribute"of the clip (like a crossfade transition that you can't remove from the beginning!), because attempts to trim the squelched audio off of the beginning of the clip meet with failure; the "bad leading edge" stays with the clip, even after the apparently offending segment has intentionally been discarded.
I checked the audio gaps with Audition, and, while I was guessing 50 - 100 ms, it turns out to be exactly 52 milliseconds of audio is squelched at the beginning of a clip. (I tried to display the image of the spectral & time-domain response here, but I can't figure out how to upload TIFFs into this forum.)
I am sure this must be the result of some simple default setting in iMovie which automatically adds a "style" or something to my vid clips upon export, but I have tried everything I can find, and, if it is, I haven't managed to reliably turn if off yet.
N.B. if I remain inside an iMovie editing session, and paste pieces together into clips without exporting the clip, or interrupting the session (as I did to produce the test vids), everything is fine. But as soon as I save a clip, the first 52 ms of audio seems to irrecoverably disappear. That continues to hold true no matter which frame in the clip subsequently becomes the new beginning.
Please forgive my iMovie newbie ignorance, but: How do I get it to STOP???
    Thank you.

  • Audio drops out in Premiere Pro CC

    Hello...
Since the last Adobe Cloud update, I have found the audio tracks drop out after a few seconds playing... The level meters suggest audio is still present but nothing is actually audible.  Pausing and resuming playback restores audio but only for a few seconds.
Up until this issue, I had no problems with audio.
    Video seems unaffected.
I am running on a PC platform:
    Windows 7 ultimate
    Intel hexacore 3GHz
    32Gb RAM
    Nvidia GTx 770
    System HD is an SSD
    Video are 2 internal HDD's running in RAID 0 @ 6Gb/s
It seems this issue is a recurrent one... I have tried the solutions indicated for the past occurrences but with no avail.
    Suggestions would be appreciated :-)

Steve736, would it be helpful for others to submit a bug report?  I have used Adobe products for over 10 years and have not ever done that.  If it is valuable for them to here it from more than one user, count me in.  It seems to be an issue of interfacing with audio equipment because some Mac users have the problem and some,  like me, don't.  Mac hardware is fairly consistent so it must be easier to narrow down on a mac if its a hardware or drive disagreement. I have not come up with a workaround on to prevent it on the PC side.  I have turned off some of the NVIDIA audio drivers installed, turned off Mercury CUNA rendering.  I have played audio and playback settings in preferences, made the buffers larger.  The only thing I can count on is that it takes awhile to start and once it starts freezing and creating the errors, it just gets more and more frequent until I close the project and reopen it, then it takes awhile and then slowly gets more frequent again.

  • Audio drops out for a second at the start of the song

I have an 8gb Black Nano 3g. My first time syncing I added songs, video, and photos.
The problem I am having is after selecting a song through cover flow the song will start playing and around the 17 second mark in the song the audio drops for a second then it comes back on and continues playing. At first I thought it was the song file, but it was happening to multiple songs. I also verified the tracks on my computer were fine.
I updated the firmware and Restored the iPod software.
Since my iPod had all of my media wiped out I added back only music and tested it. It worked perfectly, no more audio drops. I listened to it all day just fine. Last night I added some new video clips and photos. Audio drop out problem has now returned.
After work I am going to remove the video files and test it again.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Yes I have the same problem, actually I'm guessing everyone has the same issue but everyone hasn't realized yet. Problem occurs just after the the backlight turns off.
After many hours of troubleshooting, I realized the cause is syncing photos.
Tried resetting iPod & and restoring many times, tried different computers (with different new test iTunes/iPhoto libraries), problem occurs with both iLife 2006 & iLife 2008.
Took back to Apple Ginza store in Tokyo for testing and a different iPod nano 8GB 3G has the same issue. Staff believed it was a firmware issue and filed a report. A few days later 1.0.1 firmware was released but still didn't fix the issue.
I have yet to file a bug report with Apple myself.
My screen also seems to be rotated about 1mm.

  • Audio Drop out @ every 2 seconds

Having issue with the Audio dropping out every @ 2 seconds, indepentant of source (local, sync'd computer and web trailers). Have done factory reset, still doing the same thing. AppleTV is connected to the TV through HDMI connection.

Try turning your tv (not tv) off and on.

  • IOS 5.1 audio drop outs - bring back my music!

I was in the car listening to iTunes via Bluetooth and later via an iPhone dock connector to stereo cable.  On both occasions iTunes also dropped all audio the first time another app made any noise.  For example, I'm listening to music and then my GPS app tells me the next turn, as soon as she finishes talking the music audio drops out. The next time she tells me to turn I hear my music playing in the background, but it drops as soon as she stops speaking again.  If I turn off Bluetooth, then force a connection back to my stereo the music works until another sound happens, even the beep of a new email will cause the audio to be lost.
As I sit here and type this I could hear the clatter of the keys, until a moment ago when I received an email (and got the email sound), now the keyboard is silent.
I just got another email (c'mon people, it's 6am on a Saturday!) and the keyboard sounds are now back.
My wake up alarm just sounded and my keyboard audio is gone again.
Didn't notice this until the iOS 5.1 update.  It definitely did not occur previously, as I used my iPhone for music driving cross country the week prior to the update.
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Audio Drop Out/Popping sound Problem

    Hi,
For the last few weeks (since i installed snow leopard i think), i have been getting a lot of audio drop outs, where all of a sudden the sound goes dead and i get a popping sound coming from my speakers.
I am using a pre sonus fire studio project audio interface, with its firmware updated to the latest (the latest update was a beta snow leopard update).
I am running logic pro 8 with snow leopard 10.6.2.
I think i have narrowed the problem down to my presonus fire studio because i totally disconnected it and used logics built in audio soundcard and i didn't get any audio drop out at all.
I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences or ideas and suggestions on what is best to do?
thanks in advance for any help.
    Tom

It depends, are you running off battery when this happens? If so then morethan likely it is the audio hardware coming back online. In an effort to conserve power, what Mac OS X does is when you are on battery is that it turns off your audio hardware when it has not been used for a certian amount of time. This popping sound is typical of the audio hardware being powered up.

  • Audio drop outs and continuing problems- Apple Support informed again.

    Hi All,
Have had various audio problems with iMovie transfer to iDVD 6. iMovie had the problems initially but a weird trick seems to be helping me.
Copy a random new audio track into my film, paste it, then cut it out then empty trash..... all of a sudden my audio is clean again and perfectly in time with the video. I have informed the iMovies people in Ireland and they are at a loss to explain why this is now ok.
BACK to the plot and iDVD 6.
When I try to export this project from iMovie in iDVD 6 it either becomes an audio garbled nightmare or if I try and import into iDVD 6 I get audio that gradually becomes out of sync with the video visual. I know that this project was recorded in 16 bit audio so no joy there.
I've told Apple in Ireland that there are major audio issues with iDVD 6's audio set up + something they were apparently unaware of. I was assured that the tech dept's would investigate and solve. I am really surprised that they hadn't seen this problem in this forum!!
In the meantime any advice is very gratefully received. I'm on an Intel G5 Imac with 1.83ghz 1Gb sdram and 250 GB HD. So Software is currently limited!! I desperately need to get this project to DVD!!!!
    Many thanks,
    GUY

SAME EXACT THING HERE. This is what I posted in a diff thread:
    2013 iMac 1TB Flash Drive
    OS 10.8.5
Constant audio drop outs using Apogee Duet. I have to unplug and replug several times to get the system to recognize it. Sometimes when it is connected, Audio Prefs doesn't even recognize it and it shows up as "Unknown". When I click Audio Prefs before I get in, I get the spinning beachball and it takes a while for it to open. I have been in touch with Apogee but to no avail. It seems to work on my 2013 Macbook Pro, but I haven't tested extensively. It seems to get tripped up if I'm working in Ableton and get a Facetime call or if I try to use Youtube / Soundcloud. The system gets noticebly slower. When I switch back to Ableton, Duet is recognized (sometimes not recognized at all) but I cannot play anything inside the project window.
Not sure what to do at this point

  • Audio drop out in Encore AND Premiere

Strange problem. I am trying to burn a dvd with Encore. All the files play fine in QT, all the audio is there. once in Encore, it randomly picks clips to not play audio AT ALL. Sometimes it will play part of a clip then drop out audio. I have re installed and tried several tricks, like bringing files into Premiere Pro to render out a different file type. Now my premiere wont play the audio randomly either and the file produced has no audio! all other audio/video apps running fine. Not sure if its a Adobe Production Studio problem or a glitch in my system, thou as I said, rest of system works fine.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
    Steve

Well, thanks for reply but I got it to work after several work arounds, thou my Adobe products still seem to be working strange(Not opening as I closed them, etc.)
So, foe giggles, here was what I was working with.
I digitized some footage from a digibeta into my Avid where I exported Quick Time reference files to be used in After Effects.
In After Effects I exported Quick Time Movies with Blackmagic codec,8bit, with 4800k audio, uncompresed. All where NTSC 29.97. Files play in Quick Time/Windows media player no prob.
Installed Blackmagic codec on my home system for the final build with Encore2.0 DVD and thats when all the fun started. Encore would play files fine but then start to randomly drop out audio at burn.
To solve this I pulled QT's into Premiere Pro2.0 and exported WAV files to swap out for in Encore. This almost worked until Premiere started to mimic the Encore problems with random audio drop out.
After several retarts of the programs ( they would both have ASIO driver problems and quit audio. I replaced my driver, still same problem. whew!)I got the files all rendered.
Wow, still with me? Thanks! so long story I finally got the QT re rendered in Premiere to DV files that worked fine in Encore.Still think I have a system bug or somethig due to the fact these programs and Photoshop too are acting "wonky", crashing out or locking up, etc.
Thanks for the intrest!! any suggestions on system checks would be great!

  • Audio drop-out in FCPX with 1920x1080 & 2048x1240p @ 24p (codec Apple ProRes 4444 (Linear PCM))24p

    Hi all...
    I'm new to this forum.
Is there an audio issue (drop-outs) with FCPX (ver 10.1.2) for 1920x1080 24p, 1080p HD & 2048x1240 24p (2k) - note: films in FCPX are in codec Apple ProRes 4444, Linear PCM?
Very recently I've been working on a show reel and I have imported a file (short film) to snip out a section to add to the show reel.
I set the project to the film's settings i.e.. "set based on first video clip"...(1920x1080 24p, 1080p HD).  When I play the film in FCPX the audio "hic-cups"..."dips to silence"..."drops-out" briefly (up to 0.5 secs in duration) and very frequently all the way through (approx 15 mins long film)...note: audio set is at stereo 48kHz. The audio monitors on the right hand side also show the dip taking place (if it's a long enough drop-out).
I also have a version of the film in 2048x1240 24p at 2k, again Stereo 48kHz...and this does the same audio "drop-out" all the way through.  I'm unsure what other formats will create this problem i.e. higher or lower aspect ratios than those above.
Is this a software and/or OS issue?  Or a hardware issue?  Or both!?
    About This iMac details:
    iMac 27 inch: OS X ver 10.9.4
Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
    Fusion Drive 3.12 TB
Final Cut Pro X was bought & installed with this iMac back in Feb 2014
    FCPX version: 10.1.2
Note also:  I used Compressor (ver 4.1.2) to convert the files (movies) above to Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Linear PCM and the issue disappeared - the audio and visuals played with no problems.  All films play with no issue when opened in QT player.  They are also fine when exporting from FCPX.  The issue only occurs (as far as I can tell) within FCPX when editing or playing the audio there.
    Has anyone encountered this problem?
    Kind Regards,
    Hakan

    Hi Luis,
    Thank you for that.
Seems like you have a point about the "hardware" issue.  I'm unsure (new to it all) at what data rate my (er...wonderful) fusion drive provides FCPX for smooth playback - or where I can find that info on the iMac.  Playing back movies in the 422 HQ codec seems to have no issues (when I converted the movie from 4444 HQ).
But playing the full 4444 HQ, the picture is smooth, but the audio has these drop-outs - even with "best performance" option ticked. Interesting that the audio suffers, not the picture in FCPX - so not sure what's going on there. I also read - perhaps - that to play a smooth ProRes 4444 HQ movie in FCPX the data rate should be min of 500 Mbs (based upon About Apple ProRes) for HD movies and up (i.e. 2k).  ProRes 422 HQ needs a data rate of 220 Mbs - so that is my upper-limit to smooth video&audio playback with the current system I have, I guess.
Does anyone recommend a fast USB3 or Thunderbolt drive (500Mbs+) where I am able to run 4444HQ movies with no issues to picture or sound (away from the fusion drive)?
    KR
